The marriage of Miss Myrtle Penistan, daughter of Mrs. Ellsworth Tweedie of Close street, and Donald E. Strait, son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Strait of Dalton road, Scotia, was held June 8 at 3 p.m. at the State Street Presbyterian church. Rev. Victor Frelick officiated at a double ring ceremony. Mrs. Christian Dufel sang "Oh Promise Me" and ''I Love You Truly."
Martin Wasson of Van Wels Point, uncle of the bride, gave her in marriage. Her wedding dress was of white satin back crepe trimmed, with lace. She wore a three-quarter length veil which was arranged from a crown of pearlized orange blossoms and carried a cascade boquet of white carnations with streamers of satin ribbons.
Miss Stella Garry, maid of honor, wore a blue gown, with bodice of brocaded material and the skirt of net. She wore a headdress of blue flowers and a shoulder length veil and carried a cascade of pink carnations.
Carl Fountain was best man. Ushers were James A. Strait, brother of the bridegroom, and
Frederick Dufel.
The wedding was followed by a reception at Ten-O-One hall in Scotia. The bride's mother was gowned in aqua trimmed with black and gold sequins. Her accessories were of black and her corsage was of red roses. The bridegroom's mother other chose a dress of medium blue for the occasion, with accesseries of white and a corsage of pink roses.
The bride is employed at the General Electric Co. The bridegroom is associated with the Scotia Naval Supply depot. He served with the United States navy during the war.
For traveling on a weddmg trip to Michigan, the bride wore a three piece gray suit with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses. The couple are residing on Close street.

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Boice, 68 of Reid Street, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Sunday morning January 17, 2016 at Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY.
Born in Amsterdam on June 25, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Helen Strait Boice.
Betty was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam.
Betty was employed as an Aide at the former Montgomery Meadows for 30 years and most recently at St. Mary’s Hospital for 7 years before retiring.
Betty is survived by her sister, Marilyn Warner and her niece, Theresa Denton both of Amsterdam. Several other nieces, nephews and great nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Betty was also predeceased by her son, Jason Bant.
There are no calling hours.
A graveside memorial service will be held this spring at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY.

Miss Vera Ashley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Ashley of Vermont avenue, became the bride of George D. Weinman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Weinman of Becker street on May 30 at the Mont Pleasant Reformed church, with Rev. Nelson Van Raaite officiating.
Irving Bullock of Pittsfleld, Mass., uncle of the bride, gave an organ recital preceding the ceremony and Ernest Griffiths, also an uncle of the bride, was heard in vocal solos.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white Japanese silk gown with sweetheart neckline, long sleeves and a train. The material had been brought from Japan by the bridegroom. Her tulle fingertip veil fell from heirloom clusters of orange blossoms which have been worn by four generations in the bride's family.
Mrs. LaSalle Wheatley, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor, wearing a peach ninon gown, and a Juliet cap. She carried Talisman roses. The bridesmaids, Mrs. Clarence Rees, also a cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Elmer Parson, wore gowns of blue ninon and Juliet caps. They carried variegated snapdragons.
Arthur Dexter of Troy, a cousin of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Burton Ashley of this city, brother of the bride, and Hubert Frank, of Syracuse, cousin of the bride.
A reception was held in the parish house. The mother of the bride wore a dusty rose colored dress with white accessories and the bridegroom's mother a pouder blue dress and blue accessories. Both had corsages of sweet peas.
Mrs. Weinman, a graduate of Mont Pleasant High school and the Crane School of Music at Potsdam State Teachers' college, is a music teacher at South Glens Falls Central school.
Mr. Weinman attended Michigan university and spent four years with the silgnal corps in the army, serving in Germany and Japan. He is employed at the General Electric Co.
Following a wedding trip to New york anD Washington, DC, the couple will spend the summer at Galway lake.

Harold E. Atkinson, 38, Route 12C, Marcy RD 1, died Wednesday, June 7, upon
admission at the Faxton Hospital, Utica.
He was born in Johnstown, son of Charles and Ruth Edick Atkinson, and was educated there. He later resided in North Western and Utica, before moving to Marcy four years ago.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the National Guard of New York State, and later the Army from 1963 to 1968.
He married Sherrilynn E. Mickle in the Steuben Methodist Church June 28, 1958.
Mr. Atkinson attended the Marcy Community Church and was a member of the Civil Service Employees Association, and the MSH Federal Credit Union.
He is survived by his wife Sherrilynn; parents and foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Teller, Mohawk; two daughters, Elaine Ann Atkinson and Robin Lione Atinson, and twin sons, Harold Edward Atkinson, Jr., and Kim Paul Atkinson, all at home; four sisters. Miss Beatrice R. Atkinson, Canajoharie, and Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Morris, Dolgeville, Miss Irene Atkinson, Rome and Miss Charlotte Gray, Fort Plain; four brothers, John L. Atkinson, Charles E. Atkinson, Oliver Atkinson and George Atkinson, all of Salisbury Center; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral was held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Ortner Funeral Home, 130 Eagle street, Utica, with the Rev. Robert A. Bromfield, pastor of the Marcy Community Church, officiating.

Her attendant was attired in a ballerina - length gown of net and lace over taffeta. The headpiece was of ruffled lace with white rose buds.
Following a reception at the home of the bridegroom, and a trip to the Adirondacks, the couple is at home at RD 1, Westernville.
The bride attended Holland Patent Central School and the bridegroom, the Kernan School, Utica. He is employed by Marcy State Hospital.

Mrs. Carolyn M. Edick, 82, of State Highway 80, Fort Plain, New York passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at her home.
Born on April 16, 1936 in Cooperstown, NY, she was the daughter of George Hopkinson and Florence Jordan Hopkinson.
She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Edick worked for a short time at the former Nelson’s Laundry in Fort Plain.
She was a member of the former Starkville United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Edick was a founding member of the VanHornesville Ladies Fire Department Auxiliary.
On September 9, 1961 in Fort Plain, NY, Carolyn was married to Walter Edick. Together they celebrated 57 years of marriage.
Her son, Walter D. Edick preceded her in death on February 23, 1990.
Mrs. Edick is survived by her husband, Walter G. Edick of Starkville, NY; sons, Richard Edick and Missy of Paines Hollow, NY, Robert Edick and Yoko of Japan; daughter, Deborah Williams and Steven of Starkville, NY; sisters, Rosalyn Gmelin, Geraldine Arsenult; brother, Wendell Hopkinson; 5 grandchildren, Dannielle Edick, Bradlee Edick, Sonae Edick, Jerimiah Edick, and Yu David Edick Sato.
Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery.

Mr. Walter D. Edick, 26, of RD 1 Fort Plain (Starkville), died Friday afternoon, Feb. 23, in the Town of Sharon, as a result of injuries suffered in an accident at a construction site at which he was working.
Mr. Edick was born June 26, 1963, in Little Falls, the son of Walter G. and Carolyn Hopkinson Edick and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a graduate of Owen D. Young Central School in Van Homesville and Herkimer County Community College. He also had attended Fulton Montgomery Community College for one year.
Mr. Edick had been employed for four years with the maintendance department of Central National Bank of Canajoharie. At the time of his death he was employed with Ewald Blaetz Co. of Ames and had worked for other construction companies in the area for about three years.
On May 1989, he was married to Doris Hamm in Starkville.
He was a member of Starkville United Methodist Church and Van Hornesville Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors, beside his widow and parents, include two brothers, Richard and Robert Edick, both of Starkville; a sister, Deborah Edick, Starkville; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Florence Hopkinson of Starkville; paternal grandfather, Walter E. Edick of Starkville; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service was conducted Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Starkville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarice Duke, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Fonda Village Cemetery in the spring.
Calling hours were Monday at Swartz & Schmiedel Funeral Home Inc., Fort Plain. Van Hornesville Volunteer Fire Department conducted a memorial service at the funeral home in the evening.
Donations may be made to either Starkville United Methodist Church or Van Homesville Volunteer Fire Department.

Ruth Elizabeth Edick, 79, of Chittenango, died Thursday, March 13 at Crouse Irving Hospital with her children by her side following a brief illness. She was born to the late Arthur Dan and Gladys Hubbard, September 19, 1935, in Pratts Hollow, NY. Ruth attended Oneida High School and she married the late Frank John Casler Sr. Ruth was predeceased by two additional husbands, Lyndon Cook in 1987 and George Edick in 2005. She was predeceased by five siblings, Beverly Cowan (2013), Arthur Hubbard (2008), June Merlin (2006), Josephine Konowich-Kipp (2007) and Phillip Hubbard (1997). Ruth worked as a physical therapy aid at Stonehedge Nursing Home for 25 years before retiring in 1991. She has resided in Chittenango for the last 30 years and enjoyed bowling, bingo, playing cards and cooking for her family on holidays. Ruth was an active member of Durhamville Baptist Church. Ruth is survived by her brother, Clint Hubbard (Linda); her sisters, Gloria DePugh, Shirley Thurston (George) and Carol Eaton. She is also survived by seven children, Frank Casler Jr. (Susan) of Fultonville, Fred Casler (Lynn Walter) of Canastota, Clint Casler (MaryCay) of Clay, Timmie Casler (Tracy) of Rome, Robert Casler (Susan) of Durhamville, Sherry Casler-Richman (Scott) of Liverpool and Gladys Casler-Zinn (David) of New Woodstock; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Susan E. Edick, 55, of Starkville, died Thursday. Nov. 12, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, after a long, courageous battle.
Mrs. Edick was born Oct. 6, 1943, in Ilion, the daughter of S. J. and Gladys Smith Walrath. She was a 1961 graduate of Ilion High School.
On July 14, 1962, she married Kenneth E. Edick at First Presbyterian Church in Ilion.
She was a homemaker and, at one time, worked at Utica Mutual Insurance Co., in New Hartford.
Mrs. Edick was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Starkville and enjoyed crocheting and swimming and being with her family.
Survivors, beside her widower, and parents of Holland Patent, include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth E. and Michele Edick and Steven M. and Debora Edick, all of Starkville; one daughter, Penelope Edick of Fort Plain and her fiance, Jeffrey Chapman; five grandchildren, Meghan, Kirby, John, Christopher and Derek; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Terry and Nicholas Minozzi of Syracuse, Jackie and Terrance Jones of Holland Patent and sister, Carolyn St. Thomas of Rome; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Ann Walrath of Kansas City, MO and Martin and Shelly Susman of Cortland; two aunts; four nieces and nephews, Andrea Barringer of Florida, Randy Barringer of Syracuse, Nathan Graves of Rome and Martin Susman of Cortland. She was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie, in 1962, and a son, Mark, in 1968.
The funeral service was conducted Monday, Nov. 16, at Applegate & Day Funeral Home, Ilion, the Rev. Kenneth Dingman, pastor at St. James Lutheran Church, officiated. Burial was in Van Hornesville Cemetery.
Calling hours were observed Sunday, Nov. 15, at the funeral home during which Van Hornesville Fire Department and Auxiliary conducted a memorial service.
