  CANAJOHARIE - Miss Catherine Elaine DeForest, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Traudt, Jr., 42 Floral avenue, Canajoharie, and David Wendell Bowley, son of Mrs. Dorcas Hutchins, Plattsburgh, and Kenneth Bowley, Fonda, were married April 23 at 1 p.m. at a double ring ceremony at the Fort Plain Methodist Church with Rev. Andrew Currier officiating.
  The organist, Mrs. Mary King, Fort Plain, played “Colour My World”, "If”, and the traditional wedding music.
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin gown with a train, high neck and long sleeves, trimmed in lace. Her headpiece was a Juliet cap with finger tip veil. She
carried a bouquet of phalaenopsis orchids and stephanotis.
  The maid of honor, Miss Cynthia DeForest, Canajoharie, sister of the bride, wore a full length peach printed gown. Her headpiece was white daisy pompons and she carried a bouquet of daiy pompons. The bride's gown and the maid of honor's gown were made by Mrs. Flo Chiuminato, Canajoharie, a friend of the family.
  Miss Patricia Traudt, Canajoharie, sister of the bride, wore a full length white dotted swiss gown with a peach sash. Her headpiece was white daisy pompons and she carried a basket of daisy pompons with peach streamers.
  David Lord, New Paltz, a friend of the bridegroom, was best man, and the ushers were Michael and Mark Traudt, Canajoharie, brothers of the bride.
  The mother of the bride was attired in a three-piece blue suit with floor length skirt and white accessories. She wore a corsage of white cymbidium orchids. The bridegroom's mother wore a pink pantsuit and a corsage of white cymbidium orchids.
  Following the ceremony, a reception for 100 guests was held at the Canajoharie
Municipal Building. Music was furnished by Vic Sgambato. A three-tiered wedding cake was made by Mrs. Audrey Haig, Canajoharie, RD.
  For their wedding trip to Miami, Florida, the bride wore a knitted multicolor dress and corsage of white phalaenopsis orchids.
  The couple is residing at 7 River Street, Fort Plain.
  A rehearsal party was held at the home of the bride the night before the wedding and gifts were presented to the attendants at that time.
  The bride, a 1972 graduate of Canajoharie Central School, is presently employed by Off Track Betting in Canajoharie. The bridegroom is a 1969 graduate of St. Johnsville Central School and a 1973 graduate of SUC, Brockport. He is employed at the BP Service Station, Fort Plain.

  Arla L. Phillips, 94, of Parish, died Tuesday at Oswego Hospital. She was born in Mexico, daughter of the late Clair and Avis Spicer. She was predeceased by her husband, Milton, who died in 1999, and a son, David, who died in 2012. Surviving are three sons, George of Parish, Dale of Newton Falls, Gary of Pulaski; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, from the Harter Funeral Home, 2983 W. Main St., Parish, NY. Burial will be in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery.   Milton E. Phillips, 81, of 11 Kipp Road, Parish, died Saturday at home.
  He was born in Clarks Mills. He retired in 1976 from Allied Chemical in Solvay. He previously worked for Savage Arms in Frankfort, was a truck driver for the L.A. DeGarmo sawmill and owned and operated the Phillips sawmill. He was a member of the Parish/Hastings Veterans of Foreign Wars and Russell Horning American Legion Post 609, Parish. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
  Survivors: His wife, the former Arla Spicer; four sons, George, David and Gary, all of Parish, and Dale of Massachusetts; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren.
  Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harter Funeral Home. Burial, Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Parish.

  RICHFIELD SPRINGS-ILION - Eleanor "Rusty or Ellie" Dora (Fretts) Grabowski, age 83, formerly of Richfield Springs and Ilion, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 30, 2009, at the Lutheran Home, Clinton.
   Eleanor is survived by her daughters, JoAnn and Ron Duga and Nan Grabowski and her special friend, Scott DeVaul, of Ilion; grandchildren, Steven Duga, Jason and Emily Duga, Kimberly and Matthew Obreza, Nan and Kevin Campbell, and Michael Vallone; great-grandchildren, Alexandria Duga and Aaliyah Gomillion, Madison and Connor Obreza, and Ellie and Morgan Campbell; a sister, Janice Mosher; sisters-in-law, Cele Piontek and Lydia Starczewski and her husband, Ted; several nieces and nephews; all her Richfield and Prindle friends; and the faculty, staff and "her grandchildren" of the Remington Elem. School in Ilion, where she was a volunteer Foster Grandparent for 20 years, right up until she became ill.
   Special thanks to Dr. Thomas Matthew and all who fulfilled Eleanor's life.
   Friends and relatives are invited to attend Eleanor's celebration of life memorial service on Thursday, September 3,2009, at 4:30 p.m. at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion. Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

  HERKIMER-RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Joseph Charles Grabowski, 86, of 34 Charles St., Herkimer, formerly of Richfield Springs, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2005, at home.
   He was born Jan. 6, 1919, in Utica, the son of the late Peter and Amelia Kosmoski Grabowski, and received his education in the Clinton schools. Mr. Grabowski was most proud of his honorable discharge in 1945 from the U.S.
Coast Guard as a Merchant Marine. In 1947, he married the former Eleanor Fretts of Richfield Springs. Mr. Grabowski was employed as maintenance mechanic with General Electric in Schenectady, Continental Bakers and the Hotel Utica.
   Mr. Grabowski was of the Catholic faith, a member of the American Legion in Albany and the Bakery and Confectionery Union. Joe was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Richfield and Raquette Lake areas.
   Mr. Grabowski is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Nan Grabowski of Ilion, Anthony Vallone of Herkimer, JoAnn and Ron Duga of Ilion; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lydia and Ted Starczewski and Cecilia and Ted Piontek; his grandchildren, Michael Vallone, Steven Duga, Kimberly and Matthew Obreza, Jason Duga and Nan Duga, a great granddaughter, Madison Obreza; his special friends, Alexander and Andrey Drozdov; also several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife, Eleanor.
   He was predeceased by his siblings, Pauline Homa, Stanley, Theodore, Chester, Edward and Henry Grabowski, and an unnamed female infant sister.
   In keeping with Joe's wishes, his body has been donated to the SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. There will be no calling hours.
   Friends are asked to consider memorials to the Ilion Central School District Foundation Inc., P.O. Box 480, Ilion 13357. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

  Alberta J. Brooks
  SOUTH NEW BERLIN — Alberta "Bert" Brooks, 74, of South New Berlin passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at the Skilled Nursing Facility, The Hospital, Sidney.
  Bert was born Oct. 17, 1923, to the late Amos and Flora Fritts Ray in Richfield Springs.
  She married Earl D. Brooks, Oct. 19, 1941, in Holmesville. Earl predeceased her on Dec. 28, 1997.
  Bert was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, South New Berlin.
  Bert is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and David Pratt of South New Berlin, Linda and Norman Eastwood of South New Berlin, Wanda and George Deak of Waterville, Doris and Rich Hoag of South New Berlin, and Nancy Frankel of/JOneonta; two brothers and sister-in-law, William Ray of New/JLisbon, and Leon and Vivian Ray of Unadilla; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Kennedy of Mohawk, Helen Smith of Madison, Sarah Johnson of Mount Upton, Edna and Aaron Rogers of Norwich, Viola Crandall of Ithaca, and Mary and George Finch of Norwich; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
  Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Nelson Parks of Gilbertsville, officiating.

  The marriage of Miss Nathalie Taylor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Taylor, Minetto, to Sgt. Robert Palmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Palmer of Adams, N.Y., took place Wednesday evening in Community Church with the Rev. J. F. Caldwell officiating.
  Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a suit of yellow an dblue with black accessories. Her flowers were yellow and white pompons.
  Miss Norrita Taylor, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, wearing a red suit with black accessories.
  Miss Marion Palmer, sister of the bridegroom, as bridesmaid, wore a tan suit with black accessories.
  They wore matching headpieces and flowers.
  John Taylor, brother of the bride, and Raymond Palmer, brother of the bridegroomwere best men. Ushers were Ernest Bullard and Sam Pierce.
  The church was decorated in a Christmas motiff with nuptual music rendered prior to and during the service with Miss Hazel Foster at the organ.
  Reception followed at the bride's home in a candlelight service. Waitresses included Misses Martha Meade, Joan Bullard, Shirley Taylor and Vivian Reames.
  Sgt. and Mrs Palmer left on a wedding trip to Lawton Okla. They will reside at Fort Sill, Okla., where the bridegroom is stationed with the U.S. Army. He was previously stationed for 10 months in Korea.

  Robert C. Hager passed away on August 30, 2017. born February 3, 1930 in Buffalo, NY he serves in the US Navy during the Korean War and married Wilma Hachten in 1955. In West Falls, NY he was very involved in the Boy Scouts and as Scoutmaster was known as "Uncle" to a generation of boys. in 1976 he moved to Phoenix. in the 80s and 90s he was the Maintenance Foreman of Cortez High. After retirement he moved to Sun City and became involved in many clubs and activities. He was a lifetime member of Oakmont Lapidary and Silvercraft Club and was a member of Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church, he was a Stephen Minister for many years. He loved to take his nephews hunting and fishing and in his later years he was an avid stamp collector.Bob is predeceased by his wife Wilma and his older brother Pete. He is survived by his twin brother Bill (Jane), Sister-in-law Ruth MacKenzie, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bonnie and Russ Parsley, wife Barbara Lucas-Hager, step-son James Lucas, daughters Carol Hager and Nancy Petrytus, grandchildren Mallory (Christopher) Stradley and Justin (Kristen) Petrytus, and great granddaughters Lily and Madalyn. A celebration of Bob's life will b eheld Saturday October 21st at 10am at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center.
