Donald R Mureness Sr., age 78, of Gloversville NY, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, after a long illness and a battle with Covid 19.
Donald was born on December 19, 1942 to Doris Harbster in Little Falls, NY.
In April of 1963, he married Marvina Congdon of Oppenheim, NY and they had three children.
He was a long time employee of Life Savers in Canajoharie until their relocation. He also drove for J.B. Hunt Trucking and worked at Walmart in Gloversville until retiring.
He also returned to college later in life, earning an A.A.S. in Accounting from Fulton Montgomery Community College in 2000.
Throughout his life, Donald was involved in several volunteer organizations, serving as a volunteer firefighter at Hilltop Volunteer Fire Department in the late 1960s and at Rural Grove Volunteer Fire Department in the early to mid 1970s. He coached Little League in 1974 in Fonda, NY. He also served as Assistant Scoutmaster and then Scoutmaster for Troop 81 in Canajoharie, NY in the late '70s and early to mid 80s.
Donald was also a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills, the Buffalo Sabres, and the New York Yankees.
Donald is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marvina M. Mureness.
Donald was a loving father and is survived by two sons, Donald R. Mureness Jr. of Gloversville, NY and Harold L. Mureness of Johnstown, NY; 8 grandchildren, Jason Martin, Donald R. Mureness III, Dylan Mureness, Caden Mureness, Bryce Mureness, Jonathan Mureness, Caleb Mureness and Alexandria Boyer; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Terri Stone of California; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by a son, James A. Mureness; mother, Doris Harbster; step-father, Harold Harbster; brother, John Mureness.
Interment will follow at Ingham Mills Cemetery.

the bride of Donald Mereness, son of Mrs. Harold Harbster of Fort Plain and Howard Mereness of Nelliston, on April 27 at the Fort Plain Methodist Church. Rev. J. Russell Hales performed the double ring ceremony and traditional wedding music was played by Mrs. Robert Burns.
The bride, given in marriage by her uncle, Arnold Smith, wore a white billerina length gown.
Miss Ronnie Congdon. of St. Johnsville, sister of the bride, was maid of honor in a blue ballerina gown, and Miss Joann Loadwick of Nelliston and Miss Betty Hunt of St. Johnsville were bridesmaids.

James A. Mureness, age 43, of Tacoma, Washington, formerly of Canajoharie, NY, passed away unexpectedly on April 24, 2019.
James was born on October 9, 1975 in Little Falls, NY.
He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 81, Canajoharie and graduated from Canajoharie High School in 1993.
He moved to Tacoma, WA in 2008.
He was a very socially active man and loved the card game, Magic: the Gathering and many other games and often spent time playing with other enthusiasts. He also taught the game to his nephews. James was a Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan.
His family and friends will always remember him as a warm and loving person.
He is survived by his father, Donald Mureness Sr. and his mother, Marvina Congdon Mureness, both of Gloversville, NY; his brother, Donald Mureness Jr, also of Gloversville; and his brother Harold Mureness, of Johnstown; and several aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins.
James was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harold and Doris Harbster of Fort Plain and his maternal grandmother, Martha Congdon of Fort Plain.

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Miss Sharon Patricia Grup became the bride of Alan Russell Dutton in the Church of Christ Uniting on July 15.
The Rev. Gerald S. Boyer performed the Methodist ritual in the presence of over 100 guests. Mrs. Frank Druse provided organ music.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a gown of white lace over satin with a long chapel train, a fingertip veil attached to a flower crown and carried a daisy bouquet.
Mrs. Philep Gage, of Norwich, Conn., was matron of honor and bridesmaids were Theresa Grup and Sandra Jarvis with Patty Jarvis as flower girl.
Philep Gage was best man and William Grup and Kenneth Dutton ushers.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Grup, of Hartwick and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Dutton, of Richfield Springs.
Following a lawn reception at the Grup home, the couple left on a wedding trip and upon their return will five in Richfield.
Both are graduates of R.S.C.S He is also a graduate of Morrisville Ag and Tech and is employed at Heads Sales in Lawyersville. Mrs. Dutton was also graduated from BOCES in Herkimer.

Mr. Trumbull was the son of Richard and Betty David Trumble of Little Falls. He had been employed for the Town of Minden Highway Department, and at the time of his death, he was working at Green's Trucking in Amsterdam. He also was a crop farmer in Minden.
He married Janet Blencoe on January 17, 1976. He is survived by his wife; his parents; a son, Bryan of Fort Plain and two daughters, Bobbie Jo and Corinne.
