  Mrs. Doris Marie Everson Knight, 65, of Awatukee, Phoenix, AZ, died Sunday, April 24, of cancer, in a Phoenix area hospital.
  Mrs. Knight was born in Palatine Church, the daughter of George and Lovina Zoller Everson. She attended St. Johnsville Central School and was a 1947 graduate. In 1952, she moved to Arizona.
  Her parents owned Everson’s Dairy in the Palatine Church area for many years.
  She was a retired manicurist.
  Survivors include her widower, Don F.; a son, David Harbster; a stepson, Roy Knight; a brother, Richard Everson of San Diego, CA; and five grandchildren, Jennifer, Christine and Christopher Harbster and April and Ruthie Knight.
  A memorial service was held April 26, at the Tempe Mortuary Chapel followed by private burial at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.

  STONE ARABIA — The funeral of Mrs. Margaret Jane Downes of Stone Arabia, who died Friday at her home, was held today at 2 p.m. from the Gray funeral home, Fort Plain, and the Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church, East Stone Arabia.
   The Rev. Gerald Broyer, pastor of the United Brethren Church of West Sand Lake, officiated. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats.
   Mrs. Downes was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Nelliston, the daughter of Leland and Hazel Wohlgemuth Priest.
   Survivors include her husband, R. Robert Downes, three daughters, Joan, Mary and Diane
Downes, and one son, Robert D. Downes.
  Also her father, Leland Priest, Ogdensburg, and mother, Mrs. Hazel Priest, Nelliston; her, grandmothers. Mrs. Chester Wohlgemuth, Nelliston, and Mrs. George Priest, Theresa; one aunt and one uncle.

  Mr. R. Robert Downes, 85, of Dygert Road, Palatine Bridge, New York, died, Monday, June 13, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital.
  Born on November 22, 1925 in Stone Arabia, NY, he was the son of Rutherford Ward Downes and Mildred Nettie Hinkle Downes. He attended the Town of Palatine Country School and Canajoharie High School. He was a lifelong area resident.
  Mr. Downes was the owner and operator of Romar Dairy Farm in Stone Arabia with his wife, Mary. He was an active life member of the Salem United Methodist Church. Mr. Downes was a member of the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed his family and liked to travel close by and far away.
  He was married to Margaret Jane Priest on April 21, 1946. She preceded him in death on July 19, 1963. On November 7, 1970 at the Fort Plain Reformed Church, Robert was married to Mary M. Wemple. Together they celebrated over 40 years of marriage.
  He is predeceased by 2 sisters, Esther Lamphere, Betty Klock; and his granddaughter, Cristi. Mr. Downes is survived by his wife, Mary Downes of Palatine Bridge, NY; 2 sons, Philip Downes and Jill of Stone Arabia, NY, Robert David Downes and Carol of Mohawk, NY; 5 daughters, Joan Bates and John of Poland, NY, Mary Przelski and Peter of Poland, NY, Diane McDuffee of Fultonville, NY, Louisa Downes and Blair of Palatine Bridge, NY, Rachel Grower and Jeffrey of Westernville, NY; sister, Doris Downes of Cohoes, NY; brother, Harold Downes of Canajoharie, NY; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
  A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 10:00am at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 with Rev. Nancy Pullen officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 16, 2011 from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda, NY.

  FORT PLAIN, April 23.—Miss Margaret Jane Priest, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Priest of Nelliston, was married Easter Sunday, at 3:30 P. M., to R. Robert Downes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rutherford Downes, East Stone Arabia, at the Evangelical Church which was appropriately decorated with Easter flowers.
   The Rev. Gerald S. Boyer, officiating, performed a double ring ceremony. Special music by the organist, Mrs. Wm. J. Eacker, included The Melodle of Love, O Promise Me, Always, I Love You Truly, The Bridal March, and The Easter Wedding March.
   The bride was given in marriage by her father, Leland Priest. Miss Betty Downes, sister of the groom, was maid of honor. Earl Stock was best man and Harold Downes, usher.
   The bride wore a gown or white satin with train and a fingertip veil, and carried a bouquet of orchid, gardenias and baby's breath. The maid of honor wore blue satin with blue net veil and carried a colonial bouquet of purple iris, daffodils and Talisman rose buds.
   The bride's mother, Mrs. Leland Priest, wore a coral dress with black accessories and a corsage of white rose buds. The groom's mother, Mrs. Rutherford Downes, wore a navy blue dress with pink accessories and a corsage of white rose buds.
   The bride is a graduate of Watertown High School and attended Canton School of Home Economics. She is employed in the office of the Beech-Nut Packing Company, Canajoharle. The groom is employed on his father's farm.  
   The bride's traveling outfit was a light blue suit with black accessories and orchid corsage. They left for a wedding trip to New, York City and intermediate points after which they will reside in East Stone Arabia.
   Visiting guests were from Theresa, Johnstown, Gloversville, Fonda, Fort Plain, Cahajobarie, Palatine Bridge, Nelliston and Stone Arabia
   Following the ceremony a reception was held for the immediate family. The church dining room was decorated with white crepe paper and silver bells.

  DOVER, NH - Gregory James Nestle, 79 of Dover, New Hampshire died on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.
  He was born on May 12, 1939 in Cooperstown, NY; son of Kenneth E. and Jean Hiller Nestle.
  Greg is survived by, his wife Linda of 57 years, daughter Kimberly, son Scott, daughter Tracy and his nine grandchildren.
  Visitation will be from 11:00am-12:00pm with service to immediately follow at Wiggin-Purdy Funeral Home in Dover, NH on Monday, March 18th. Burial will be in Vermont at a later date.

  Michael White was best man. Ushers were Michael Valente and Peter Strickler. Christopher White was ring bearer.
  A reception was held at The Grange Estate, after which the couple left for Greece and Turkey.
  Mrs. Nestle graduated from Rutgers College. She is an officer at Bankers Trust Co., New York City. Her husband graduated from Champlain Valley Union High School and Rutgers College. He is a financial consultant at The Equitable Financial Companies, New Jersey. They reside in Milltown.

  Mrs. Yandow graduated from Champlain Valley Union High School and Bryant College. She is employed by Bruegger Corp. Her husband graduated from Bellows Falls Academy in St. Albans and attended UVM. He is employed by A&M Software. They reside in Williston.

  The Marshville Evangelical Church was the scene Saturday afternoon. Oct. 28, of the wedding of Miss Maureen E. Montanye, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank D. Montanye, Canajoharie RD 2. and Gary F. Nestle, Fort Plain RD, son of Victor Nestle, Canajoharie, and the late Mrs. Pauline Nestle.
  The 2 o'clock double ring ceremony was performed by the pastor, the Rev. Earl Ven Leeuwen. The church was decorated with candlebra with palms and vases of fall flowers. Wayne Mabie, Stone Ridge, sang "Because" "I Love You Truly" and "The Lord;s Prayer." The wedding music was played by the organist, Mrs. Daniel Jewell.
  Given in marriage by her fatehr, the bride was attired in a white gown of imported French lace over taffeta with a plain front panel and tiered lace sides. It featured a Sabrina neckline and chapel length train. Her headpiece consisted of three rosebuds caught to and elbo length veil and she carried a cascade of minature white carnations accented with red roses.
  Mrs. Marie Bruce, Ravina, was matron of honor for her sister. he wore a floor length gown of tangerine rayon and acetate crepe with an empire styled waist and boddice of brocade taffeta. The back was accented with a train of brocade and for her headpiece she wore a brocade bow iwth a short veil. She carried a nile green cascade bouquet of miniature carnations.
  Mr.s Frances Drumm, Canajoharie, sister of the bride, and Miss Linda Montayne, Canajoharie, a cousin of the bride, were the bridesmaids. they were attired identically to the matron of honor in gowns of nile green and carried cascades of carnations in contrasting colors. Miss Lorilynn Bruce Ravena, niece of the bride, was flower girl. she wore a white dress and carried a basket of miniature carnations in white green and tangerine.
  James Bruce, Ravena, brother-in-law of the bride, was the bes man. Serving as ushers were Wayne Nestle, Canajoharie, brother of the bridegrom, and Gary Drumm, Canajoharie, brother-in-law of the bride. The ring bearer was Gregory Drumm, Canajoharie, nephew of the bride.
  The mother of the bride chose a dress of pale green and silver with black accessories and wore a corsage of yellow carnations. The mother of the bridegroom wore a maroon dress and she had a corsage of pink carnations.
   after the ceremony, a reception was held at the Tryon Inn, Cherry Valley. Approximately 200 guests attended from Canajoharie, Fort Plain, Amsterdam, Ravena, Stone Ridge, St. Johnsville, Marshville, Sprout Brook, Buel, Ballston Lake, Maryland and New Jersey.
  For her wedding trip through the southern states, the bride wore a two-piece suit of brown, tan and white bonded tweed with brown accessories and an orchid corsage.
  The bride is a graduate of Canajoharie Central School and is employed by Central National Bank, Canajoharie.
  The bridegroom, a graduate of Fort Plain Central School is employed by Beech-Nut Life Savers, Inc.
   The couple will reside in Canajoharie.

  Mr. Wayne D. Nestle, 65, of Wiltse Hill Road, VanHornesville, New York died, Thursday, October 26, 2017, at home, with his loving family surrounding him.
  Born on January 9, 1952 in Little Falls, NY, he was the son of Victor and Pauline Nestle. He was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, Class of 1970. He furthered his education at Fulton Montgomery Community College. Wayne was a lifelong area resident, settling in VanHornesville in 1973.
  He was a member of the VanHornesville United Methodist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees.
  Mr. Nestle was a member of the VanHornesville Community Corporation. He enjoyed hunting, motor sports, traveling, and spending time with his family.
  On June 16, 1973 at the Van Hornesville United Methodist Church, Wayne was married to Bonnie Eckler. Together they celebrated over 44 years of marriage.
  Mr. Nestle is survived by his wife, Bonnie Eckler Nestle of VanHornesville, NY; sons, Kristopher Dale Nestle and his wife, Alicia of Rochester, NY, Bryan Wayne Nestle and his wife, Krystalea of VanHornesville, NY; brothers, Victor Nestle and his wife, Yvonne of Fort Plain, Gary Nestle and his wife, Nicola of South Carolina; granddaughters, Aurora Evelyn Nestle, Avery Brynn Nestle; as well as several nieces, and nephews.
  Burial will take place in VanHornesville Cemetery.

  Miss Bonnie Eckler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell J. Eckler, Jordanville RD 1, and Wayne D. Nestle, 19 Mohawk street, Fort Plain, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor L. Nestle, Sr., 45 East Grand street. Palatine Bridge, were wed June 16 in the United Methodist Church, Van Hornesville, with the Rev. Joseph Albrecht, Cherry Valley, performing the double ring ceremony.
  The church was decorated with garden flowers and the altar with white and pink gladioli. The family pews were marked with white bows.
  The organist, Mrs. Kermit Fassett, played the traditional processional and recessional in addition to popular contemporary selections prior to the ceremony. Miss Kathy McDowell, Verona, a college friend of the bride, sang “The Wedding Song” and “The Lord’s Prayer".
  Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an empire styled gown she had designed and made of organza over taffeta with long, full sheer sleeves, a wide cuff and high neckline with wedding ring collar. It was accented with a ruffle of double edged lace and pearl beads at the hemline, collar, cuffs and bodice. Her gown was fashioned with a detachable train edged in lace. The veil and headpiece which she constructed consisted of a Juliet cap trimmed with lace and pearl beads matching the gown and fingertip length veil. She carried a colonial bouquet friend of the of pink roses and white pompons.
  The maid of honor was Miss Cheryl Eckler, sister of the bride, Rochester. Bridesmaids were Miss Penny Schnell, Van Hornesville, a friend of the bride, Miss Roseanna Poschadel, Middletown, Miss Marcia Ward, Watkins Glen, and Miss Sheryl Cocker, Huntington Station, L.I., college roommates of the bride.
  The maid of honor was attired in an orchid gown of polyester crepe styled with an empire fitted bodice and high neckline and short puff sleeves. White lace accented the cuffs, neckline and bodice. Her full length gown was gathered at the center of the back with ties forming a bow. The Juliet cap was constructed of material matching the gown edged in lace with a short veil attached at the back of the cap. She carried a colonial bouquet of white and orchid pompons centered with a pink rose.
  The bridesmaids gowns were styled similarly to the maid of honor’s with lace accents at the neckline and cuffs in shades of lemon yellow, lime green, blue and bright pink with matching Juliet caps edged in white lace. Each carried a single pink rose. Each attendant fashioned her gown and the bride made their matching headpieces.
  The bride’s mother chose a full length gown of aqua double knit fashioned by her in A-line style with a fitted bodice and long sleeves. The neckline, sleeves and hemline were trimmed with silver braid and she wore a corsage of pink carnations.
  The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a pale pink gown with V-neckline, bodice and full skirt fitted to a midriff band. The three-quarter sleeves were gathered at the elbow and the gown accented with trim. The gown, fashioned by her, was adorned with a corsage of white carnations.
  The best man was Gary Nestle, Canajoharie, brother of the bridegroom. Ushers were Victor Nestle, Jr., brother of the bridegroom, Fort Plain, James Eckler, brother of the bride, Van Hornesville, Larry Burgess, cousin of the bridegroom, Canajoharie, and Stephen Herron, friend of the bridegroom, Fort Plain.
  Following the ceremony, a reception for 125 guests was held at the Canajoharie Municipal Building which was decorated with pink and white bells and crepe paper streamers. Music was provided by Mike Cardamone and his band.
  For a wedding trip to Virginia Beach, Va., the bride wore a navy blue and white checked pants suit with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses.
  The couple is residing at 19 Mohawk street, Fort Plain.
  The bride is a graduate of Owen D. Young Central School, Van Hornesville, and a May graduate of State University College at Oneonta. She has accepted a teaching position at ODY Central School starting in September.
  The bridegroom is a graduate of Canajoharie Central School and attended Fulton-Montgomery Community College. He is employed at LaSalle Laboratories, Canajoharie.
  Guests attended the wedding and reception from Connecticut, Ohio, Newfoundland, Potsdam, Binghamton, Rochester, Albany and area communities.
  The bridegroom presented personal gifts to the attendants at a rehearsal party the evening before the ceremony at the home of his parents.
  Showers were tendered the bride by the bridegroom’s mother, her attendants and the bride’s aunts.
