Mary Donna Kear, 83, of Whitesville died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Kear; three sons, Kenneth Kear of Bunker Hill, W.Va. and J. Michael Kear and Terry L. Kear, both of Whitesville; and two brothers, Ernest Hunt of Genesee and Arthur Hunt of West Coxsackie. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23 at the Whitesville United Methodist Church. Services will be held there at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24.
Arrangements are with the Olney Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Ulysses, Pa.

WHITESVILLE -
Donald C. “Link” Kear, 86, of Whitesville, died Wednesday (Oct. 14, 2009) in Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital, Buffalo. Born Jan. 22, 1923, in Whitesville, he was the son of Ernest and Martha Crittenden Kear. On April 14, 1942, in Galeton, Pa., he married the former Mary Donna Hunt, who predeceased him Jan. 20, 2009. A World War II veteran, he served honorably with the U.S. Army from January 1943 until November 1944 in the Pacific Theatre. After the war, he and his wife owned and operated Kear's Service Station in Whitesville for 35 years. He was a member of the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Company (life), the Andover Masonic Lodge and the Robert E. James American Legion Post No. 1012 in Whitesville, where he was a past commander and treasurer. He was a longtime director of the Allegany County Co-operative Insurance Co., serving terms as chairman. Surviving are three sons, Kenneth (Brenda) Kear of Bunker Hill, W. Va., and J. Michael Kear and Terry L. Kear, both of Whitesville; six grandchildren, Joshua (Jen) Kear, James Kear, Karmon (Todd) Fanton, Kelinda (Kevin) Schuster, Molly (Brad) Mattison and Jennifer Kear; six great-grandchildren, Kyla Niedermaier, Tristen Schuster, Alyssa Kear, Hunter Kear, Spencer Mattison and Jacob Mattison; a brother, Dougal (Shirley) Kear of Machias, NY; three sisters, Norma Rounds of Whitesville, Dorotha Krebs of Williamsville, and Roberta (Donald) Kramer of Whitesville; three brothers-in-law, Erland Kailbourne of Wellsville, Ernest (Leila) Hunt of Genesee, Pa., and Arthur (Barbara) Hunt of West Coxsackie; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by three brothers, Cleon, Kenneth, and Clair; and a sister, Donna Kailbourne. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Whitesville United Methodist Church, where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Keith Chase will officiate. Burial, with military rites, will be at a later date in Whitesville Rural Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Whitesville United Methodist Church or the Whitesville Public Library, Whitesville, NY 14897.
