  LYONS FALLS—Mrs. Minnie Bartelotte, 59, wife of Henry Bartelotte, died May 22 in Lewis County General Hospital.
  She was the daughter of Maurice and Betna Pellam Hyres.
  She attended schools in Lowville and Lyons Falls. Her marriage to Henry Bartelotte took place in 1927 in Old Forge. Mrs. Bartelotte was a member of Forest Presbyterian Church.
  Besides her husband and mother, both of Lyons Falls, she leaves a son Robert in the service in Florida; two daughters, Mrs. Louis (Joan) Emore of Syracuse and Mrs. (Barbara) Scooten of Port Leyden, and two sisters, Mrs. Loren (LeMoyne) Lampher and Mrs. Edward (Matilda) Elmer, both of Lyons Falls.
  The funeral will be at 2 tomorrow from the Field Funeral Home, Port Leydan. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls.

  Henry J. Bartelotte, 82, Lyonsdale Road, Lyons Falls, died Saturday, June 18, in Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, where he had been a patient three weeks.
  The funeral was Monday. June 20, at the Callaghan Funeral Home, Port Leyden, with Rev. Bill Spong officiating. Burial was in Wildwood Cemetery.
  He is survived by his wife, Clara, a son, Robert, Jacksonvile, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Louis (Joan) Emore, Syracuse, and Mrs. Art (Barbara) Scouten, Port Leyden; four stepchildren, Joyce Coe, Locust Grove, Beverly Deasock, West Leyden; Nancy Gydesen, Greig, and Willis Curtis, Blossvale; five grandchildren; 23 step-grandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren; and three sisters. Mrs. Winifred Wescott, Saratoga; Mrs. Clara Lindsay, Old Forge, and Mrs. James (Hazel) Bush, Port Leyden. A son, Donald, died in infancy.
  Born April 10, 1906, in New Brunswick, Canada, son of Joseph and Angeline Cassey Bartelotte, he attended schools there and worked in the finishing department of Georgia Pacific here for 44 years, retiring in 1977.
  He married Minnie Hyers on Dec. 25, 1927, in Old Forge. She died May 21, 1968. He married Clara Youngs Curtis on Dec. 6, 1969, in the Boonville United Methodist Church.
  Mr. Bartelotte was a member of the Boonville Elks Club, Boonville, Young at Heart Senior Citizens, Singing Waters Senior Citizens, Constableville Senior Citizens and United Paperworkers International Union Local 560.

 - Injury (The Journal and Republican, Lowville, NY, Thursday, May 19, 1938)
  Charles Stewart was seriously injured at the Gould Paper Co. plant at 8:30 Tuesday morning. Mr. Stewart had arrived at his work at the mill at 8 a. m. He is third man on machine No. 3. One arm and hand were drawn into the machine and one side of his head badly injured before the accident was discovered by fellow workmen, so it is reported Dr. C. H. Vadney was called and ordered the injured man taken to the Faxton hospital Utica. Mr. Stewart a young man about 30, is the father of three children the youngest a baby born this past winter. Mrs. Stewart was formerly Miss Matilda Hyers.

 - Funeral (The Journal and Republican, Lowville, NY, Thursday, May 26, 1938)
  The funeral of Charles Stewart, 29, was held from his late home near Kosterville. Friday afternoon,  John C. Wetzel, pastor of the Port Leyden Congregational Church, officiating. The bearers were Orrin Cook, Joseph Bartlett, Steven Kring, William Butis, Raymond Shaver and Francois Mangan. The floral tributes were many. Burial was made in Wildwood Cemetery.

  Miss Shirley Irene Stewart, daughter of Mrs. Edward Elmer, Lyons Falls, and the late Charles Stewart, became the bride of William Nelson Knapp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Knapp, Lyons Falls, at a candlelight service, at 7 p. m., Saturday, in Forest Presbyterian church. Rev. John. H. Hatt, the pastor, performed the double ring ceremony.
  Given in marriage by her step-father, Edward Elmer, the bride wore a ballerina length  gown of white nylon lace over taffeta, with fitted bodice, small collar and sleeves coming to a point over the wrist. Her finger-tip illusion veil was attached to a tiara with silver and seed pearls. She carried a shower bouquet of white pompoms and white rose buds.
  Miss Bertha Stewart. Utica sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Her ballerina-length gown was of maroon nylon net with a tiered skirt over satin, velvet' bolero with matching headdress. She carried a shower bouquet of bronze pompoms.
  The bridesmaids were Mrs. Frank Buschard, Port Leyden, and Miss Marlene Post,  Lyonss Falls. They wore ballerina-length gowns of nylon net over taffeta fashioned similar to that of the maid-of-honor in hunter's green and mint green with matching headdress. They carried shower bouquets of yellow pompoms.
  Max Evans, Lyons Falls, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Robert Sturtz, brother-in-law of the bride, and Stephen Post.
  Mrs. H. F. Drew presided at the organ and Mrs. Patricia: Kelly sang.
  Mrs. Elmer wore a charcoal suit and Mrs. Knapp a dark blue suit. Both had corsages of white pompoms and white rose buds.
  Following the ceremony a reception was held in the parish house for 175 guests. Miss Eve Marie Post was at the punch bowl and Mrs. Kelly played instrumental music and sang. Guests were present from Syracuse, Ilion, Watertown, Utica, and Maryland.
  The bride graduated from Port Leyden Central School in 1954, and is an accountant for the New York Bell Telephone Co., Utica. Mr. Knapp was graduated from General Martin Central school, Glenfield, in 1953. He is employed at the Burdick store in Greig. The newly wedded couple will reside in Boonville.

  PELLAM Kent Eugene, age 87, went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2003. He
was born on Sept. 23, 1916 to Harvey and Matilda Pellam in Rome, New York where
he resided for 45 years before moving to Oklahoma with his wife and children in 1965. He worked at TAFB as an aircraft mechanic/welder.
  He is survived by his wife Theresa of the home and children: Barbara Palmertree and husband Jim; Kent Pellam, Jr. and wife Linda; Lori David and husband Robert; four grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren: Mark Sharbono, Dee Ann Bell, Brian Pellam, Sherry Hicks, Greg Palmertree, Tim Palmertree, GiGi Palmertree, and 14 great grandchildren, and numerous friends.
  He was best known for his storytelling and his gift of gab. He never met a stranger. He was a creative artist first with stained glass and then with wood turning. He spent many hours in his shop creating beautiful works of art, which have received many awards and are cherished by all that received them as gifts. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. His dancing blue eyes and warm smile will be missed.
  A Wake Service will be held Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003 at 7:00 PM, and Mass on Monday, Nov. 17, 2003 at 10:00 AM, both services will be held at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Midwest City. Barnes & Johnson Funeral Home 1820 S. Douglas Blvd Midwest City 733-2991


Teresa Agnes Del Pico

  Theresa Agnes, age 89 went to be with her Lord on October 25, 2010. She was born on November 22, 1920 in Rome, New York to Angelo and Marie Del Pico where she resided for 41 years before moving with her husband and children to Midwest City in1963. She retired from Tinker Air Force Base as an accountant. She was an active member at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Midwest City and a volunteer at Midwest City Regional Hospital. She also crocheted infant hats for the newborn babies and made "splintting pillows" for the post-surgical patients at St. Anthony Hospital. She was a fabulous Italian cook and loved spending time making homemade meatballs, sausage and spaghetti sauce that set on the stove for hours. She also made wonderful baked goods and wonderful Italian Christmas cookies. She loved to read and crochet or knit. Over the last twenty-five years she has crocheted more than 10,000 baby hats and/or booties for the various hospitals in the city. She has also knitted or crocheted various hats, scarves and blankets for children and grandchildren.
  She was preceded in death by her husband, Kent Pellam and 2 sisters. Theresa is survived by her children: Barbara Palmertree and husband Jim; Kent Pellam Jr.and wife Linda; Lori David and husband Robert; 4 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren; Mark Sharbono, Dee Ann Bell, Brian Pellam, Sherry Nelson, Greg Palmertree, Tim Palmertree and Gigi Palmertree, and 14 great- grandchildren and 3 great- great- grandchildren and many wonderful friends. She was a loving and generous mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed and the wonderful smells of something baking in the oven or cooking on the stove have left us feeling empty.
  A Wake Service will be held Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010 at 7:00 PM and Mass on Friday, Oct.29, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Both services will be at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.

  Miss Theresa Del Pico, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Angelo Del Pico, 106 Spring St., and Kent E. Pellam, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harley A. Pellam, 610 N. Washington St., were married at 10 a. m. today at St. John the Baptist clurch. The Rev. Paul Byrne, assistant pastor, officiated.
  Miss Felecia Consiglio was maid of honor and Edward M. Pellam, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The bride wore a heavenly blue crepe suit with white accessories and had a corage of white roses and iberis. Miss Consiglio wore a crystal green crepe suit with white accessories and had a corsage of red roses.
  Breakfast was served for the bridal party at the Avonmore. A reception for friends and relatives was held at the bride's home. Immediately following Mr. and Mrs. Pellam left on a short wedling trip. On their return they will make their home at 610 N. Washington St.
  Both the bride and the brideroom attended Rome Free Academy and are at present employed
at General Cable Corporation plant.

   Mr. and Mrs. William L. Pellam announced the engagement of their daughter, Margaret, to Sgt. Thomas G. Jones, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jones, Sr., 15 Madison street, West Carthage. Miss Pellam is a graduate of Lyons Falls high school, class of 1940. Since her graduation she has been employed as assistant manager of the Atlantic & Pacific Tea company Lyons Falls. Sgt. Jones is a graduate of the West Carthage high school. Previous to his induction in the army in January, 1941, he was employed as assistant manager of the J. J. Newberry stores in Bellows Falls, Vt., Watertown and Amsterdam. Sgt. Jones is now stationed at the army air base, Richmond, Va.. No date has been set for the wedding.

  Miss Rebecca Fran Edwards oan David James Durkee were married Saturday, May 27, at 7 p.m. in Broadmoor Christina Church. Mr. and Mrs. Abbie Lloyd Edwards are parents of the bride and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Durkee Jr.
  The bridal gown featured lase insets and a victorian neckline. She wore a lavaliere which hadbeen worn by her mother and her grandmother.
  A tiara of Cluny lace held in place the elbow-length French illusion veil, and the bride carried a nosegay of white and yellow roses and baby's breat on a white bible.
  Miss Catherine Elizabeth Fraser, the maid or honor was attired in an A-line yellow taffeta dress overlaid with panels of yellow chiffon.
  Embroidered yellow dasies bordered the scoop neckline, sleves and waistline. She cattied a nosegay of mixed spring flowers.
  Blair Robert Durkee served as his brother's best man and Ronald A. Harrell ushered. Miss Christy Carpenter was the candlelighter.
  A reception followed in the church fellowship hall.
  The couple will reside inb Shreveport.

  Critically ill of a kidney complication developing after pregancy, a young Lyons Falls
woman, wife of a Camp Drum soldier, was transferred by a hospital plane of the Air Force to the Waiter Reed Army General Hospital in Washington, D.C. from the House of the
Good Samaritan, Watertown, Friday night for special treatment.
  Mrs. Patricia N. Pellam Hoffert, 22, wife of Pvt. James Hoffert of the 44th Transport
Company of Camp Drum, had been admitted to the Watertown hospital May 26 and shortly afterward gave birth to a child that did not live.
  Her condition became critical of a kidney failure after child birth, necessitating an artificial kidney to treat her. Neither the Watertown hospital nor any other nearby hospital in this area is equipped with such an appliance, and arrangements were made, to transfer her to the army hospital.
   A Convair of the Military Air Transport Service (MATS) of the Air Force arrived at the Watertown Municipal Airport near Dexter at 6:50 p.m. Friday for the emergency mission. Ten minutes later Mrs. Hoffert was discharged from the hospital and rushed by ambulance to the airport, where she was placed aboard the plane.
  Her husband, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hoffert, of Boonville, accompanied her on the
trip to Washington, where she was treated with the use of the artificial kidney.
  Mrs. Hoffert is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Pellam. of Lyons Falls.

  Mrs. Patricia Pellam Hoffert, 22, wife of Army Private James Hoffert of Boonville, died yesterday in Walter Reed Army Hospital, Washington, D.C. of a kidney ailment. She had been flown to Washington on June 1 from the House of the Good Samaritan Hospital, Watertown.
  Her husband is now stationed at Camp Drum.
  Mrs Hoffert was born in Lyons Falls, daughter of William and Nellie Wood Pellam. She was graduated from Lyons Falls High School, and was married Jan. 13, 1962.
  She was a member of Forest Presbyterian Church here and president of the Coed Bowling League.
  Besides her husband and parents, she leaves a sister, Mrs. Charles (Margaret)Durkee, of Deferiet, and a brother Vernon L. Pellam, of Lowville. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Miss Joanne Moore, Jamestown, maid of honor, wore a ballerina-length gown of peacock blue and velvet headband and carried a spray of yellow roses
  Thomas Harrienger, Lowville, was best man; Lloyd Wilcox and Walter Goodson, cousin of the bride, ushers.
  A reception followed at the bride’s home. The couple are living in Oriskany. She is a gradate of Albany State Teachers College and teaches at Oriskany Central School, while he is a graduate of Albany State and Champlain College and is employed at Westmoreland Central School.

  Robert W Cole, 61, of Turin Road, Stomes, a retired Revere employee died Monday, April 26, 1982, at home.
  He had been employed as a caster by Revere Rome Division for 38years, retiring in 1979.
  Mr. Cole was born in Long Lake August 7, 1920, son of Albert and Alice Pitts Cole. He moved to the Rome area 40 years ago, and served with the Army in World War II.
   He and Ruth Starkweather were married November 15, 1941, in the First United
Methodist Church. He resided in Long Lake and Rome before moving to the Town of Lee.
  Mr. Cole was a former member of the Lee Center Volunteer Fire Department and Civil Defense organization. Long Lake Fish and Game Club, Central Side Band Association, Rome Side Band Club and American Radio Relay League.
  He was a member of the Revere Retirees Golf League and the Lee Center Unity
Senior Citizens.
  Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Bonnie) Hesier, Mrs. Gary (Shirley) Camadine and Mrs. Albert (Deborah) Ankin, all of Rome: two sons, Robert L Cole and William R. Cole, both of Lee Center; two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Bertha) Jones and Mrs. Walter (Shirley) Sutter, both of Rome; two brothers, Roy E. Cole, and Arthur I. Cole, Ava; 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
  Services were held at the Prince & Boyd Funeral Home Thursday with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Stokes.

  Boonville- Margaret (Peggy) Krug, 87, passed away at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center on June 3, 2016.
  She was born in Turin, N.Y. on February 16, 1929, a daughter of Burdette and Hazel Rupert Clark.  She grew up in Turin and attended a one room country school on the East Road and then graduated from Turin High school in 1947. She married Richard F. Krug on October 19, 1949 at the Boonville United Methodist Church Parsonage.  The couple purchased area farms and operated their farm for 22 years. She was a member of the Talcottville Methodist Church and at one time Turin Methodist Church. She was the pianist at church for many years. Peggy enjoyed music, singing, dancing, cooking, gardening, bird watching, knitting, her dog and remodeling her home. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard on February 4, 2003.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law; three granddaughters; great grandson; two great granddaughters; companion; one sister and brother-in-law; one brother and sister-in-law; several cousins; nieces and nephews.

  Miss Margaret Alvira Clark, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burdette H. Clark, Turin, became the bride of Richard Francis Krug, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Krug of Remsen, in a double ring ceremony at the Methodist parsonage at Boonville last Wednesday evening at 7:30, Rev. Robert U. Holmes, officiating.
  The bride, attended by her sister, Miss Irene Clark, wore a light blue slipper satin street-length dress with fitted bodice and full skirt, with navy blue hat and accessories. She wore a corsage of red roses and carried a white Bible.
  For traveling, she wore a wine-colored fur-trimmed coat.
  The maid of honor wore a tangerine rayon dress with brown hat and brown accessories and a corsage of yellow roses.
  The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Raymond Krug, of Remsen.
  The bride is a graduate of Turin High school, class of 1946, and has been employed by the Graham store at Lowville.
  The bridegroom attended school in Turin and is now engaged in farming.
  Following the ceremony, the couple left for a wedding trip to Canada, and upon their return will reside in Turin.

  News of the death of Mrs. Maude Oaster Hills, wife of Rolland Hills, who passed away early Saturday morning at Hepburn hospital, Ogdensburg, brought grief and sadness to many friends in this community. Mrs. Hills underwent an operation for goiter on Tuesday, and her condition was understood to be satisfactory, until Friday, when it became critical. Her husband and sister, Mrs. Anna Seymour, were with her when the end came Maude Oaster. was the eldest daughter of the late Edward M. and Bertha Norton Oaster. She was born on a farm near this village, October 9, 1903, and had always lived in this vicinity. She was a graduate of Lowville Academy and the teacher's training class also attended summer school at Potsdam normal, and taught school for a number of years, she was a member of the Houseville M. E. church the W. H. M. S., also a member of Glendale grange. Mrs. Hills was a home-maker, a devoted wife and mother and posessed many fine traits of character. A valued friend and neighbor and wilt be greatly missed. August 25, 1926 she was united in marriage with Rolland Hills, who survives with one daughter, Marjorie. Other surviving relatives are her mother, Mrs. E. C. Ingersol, of Turin; one sister, Mrs. Anna Seymour, of Houseville; two brothers, George, of Lowville, and Frank, of Turin.

  Cyril L. Seymour, 81, East Main Street, Turin, former village mayor, was pronounced dead on arrival at Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, early Saturday, April 9, after being stricken at his home.
  The funeral was Tuesday, April 12, at the Turin United Methodist Church, with Rev. Doris Staring and Rev. Ruth Peronne, pastors, officiating, assisted by Rev. Glenn Poppleton, pastor of the Carthage United Methodist Church. Burial was in Martinsburg Cemetery.
  Contributions were made to the Turin Ambulance Fund or the memorial fund of the Turin United Methodist Church.
  Surviving is his wife, Anna.
  A son, Thomas, shortly after birth.
  Bom March 26, 1907, in the Town of Martinsburg, son of Cyril A. and Grace Damouth Seymour, he attended local schools. He married Anna Oaster on Oct. 31, 1925, at the bride’s home in Houseville, with Rev. B.L. Nichols officiating.
  He was an avid antique collector. He owned and operated a farm in Houseville until 1946, when he moved to his present address. He worked as a car salesman for Doviak Chevrolet, Lowville, and also worked at Widmeyer & Plato Feed Mill.
  Mr. Seymour was elected mayor of the Village of Turin in 1961 and served a number of terms. He was a member of the Lowville Mason Lodge 134 and the Turin Grange, a member and past district deputy of the Lewis County Pomona Grange, a director of the Lewis County Historical Society, a director of the Lewis County Agricultural Society, a former president and secretary of the Lewis County Fair Board and a member and trustee of the Turin United Methodist Church.

  Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Seymour will observe their 60th wedding anniversary at their home on East Main St. in Turin on October 31.
  Mrs. Seymour's maiden name was Anna Oaster. Her parents were Bertha and Edward Oaster. Her husbands parents were Seymour. Sr. and Grace M. Seymour.
  They were married at home of the bride Houseville by Rev. B. L. Nichols, pastor of the Houseville Methodist Church.
  The attendants were Maude Oaster, sister of the bride, and Rolland Hills.
  Thomas LeRoy Seymour, their only child, died four hours after birth in June 1945.
  Mrs. Seymour taught school for 43 years. Mr. Seymour was a farmer and a car salesman.
  Mrs. Seymour was a past member of the Eastern Star, past Juvenile Deputy for seven years of the Lewis County Pomona Grange, also a member of the State and National Grange, a superintendent and teacher of the Methodist Sunday School in Turin.
  Mr. Seymour is a member of the State and National Grange, past deputy for seven years of the Lewis County Pomona Grange, past secretary and president of the Lewis County Agricultural Society, a member of the Lowville Masonic Lodge and RAM., past president of the Turin Highlands Golf Course. At the present time he is a director of the Lewis Co. Agricultural Society and also a director of the Lewis Co. Historical Society.
  For the past several years Mr. Seymour has collected antique tools which he has displayed in "Ye Olde Red Barn Museum" at his home in Turin.
  Mr. and Mrs. Seymour are members of the Turin United Methodist Church.
  The Seymours have spent their winters for the past 18 years at their home in Riverview, Fl.
