Edward Frank Pangman 83, of Barnerville Road Cobleskill, passed away peacefully Wednesday September 11th at his home under the loving care of his family, caregivers, and hospice.
Ed was born October 21, 1935 in Cobleskill, NY, the son of Leonard and Nellie (Hamm) Pangman.
Following his graduation from the former Cobleskill High School, he proudly served his country in the US Army during Korea as a Cook until his honorable discharge in 1957 when he returned to his native Schoharie County.
He married the love of his life, Patricia (Mickle) Pangman in 1958. Ed worked for Becker’s Mountain Dairy for several years prior to opening the Empire Restaurant on Main Street Cobleskill.
After the fire of December of 1971 which destroyed the Empire Restaurant and other businesses in Cobleskill, Ed and Patricia reopened the Empire located on Route #7 in Howes Cave.
Sadly, Patty predeceased Ed on June 29, 2002 and later he retired from the restaurant business in 2013 at the age of 78 after 44 years in business.
His marriage to Patty, their family and their business was Ed’s life, however, he did enjoy the game of golf and played as much as time would allow in his younger years.
Survivors include his son; Edward Kyle (Denise) Pangman of Warnerville, 2 grandchildren; Cheyenne and Kelsey, 3 nieces and nephews along with several grand nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his sister Karen Bloughthenburgh.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the Pangman family next to his beloved wife Patty.

Mrs. Barbara G. Rose Travis, 76, of Gloversville, passed away March 15, 2014 at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Barbara was born February 3, 1938 in Gloversville, N.Y. She is the daughter of the late Arthur and Dorthea Hart Maxon. She graduated from Gloversville High School. Always hard working, Barbara was employed at F.W. Woolworth's at the soda fountain in her earlier years. She had worked in the production department at Coleco Industries in Gloversville and at Excel in Johnstown prior to the onset of her illness.
Barbara enjoyed several community activities especially her lunch outings with old schoolmates. She was a former officer at the Gloversville Moose Lodge. Barbara was proud of her volunteer work with the Gloversville Senior Citizens and her activities at the former Fremont St. United Methodist Church and the North Bush Methodist Church. She will be dearly missed.
Barbara leaves her dear family surviving; Jeff Rose (Rose) of Pinetop, NC, Jay Rose (Harue) of Perth, Joanne Nordling (Rich) of Gloversville and Judi Rose of Finland. She is also survived by a sister Sandy Niver (David) of Buffalo, a brother Bill Maxon (Carolyn) of Gloversville, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and the father of her children Fitch Rose of Greenville, SC.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday March 20, 2014 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville with Reverend Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-7 pm. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the Brennan Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Rd. Gloversville, N.Y. 12078.

Miss Cosgrove, an honors graduate of Ridgewood High School, is an Alumna of Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in Purchase, N. Y. She is associated with Laidlaw & Co., New York private bankers.
Mr. Benedict, an Alumnus of Fairfield Preparatory School, is a senior at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. where he was a member of Sigma Nu social fraternity, Maroon Key honorary society and varsity lacrosse.
Mr. Benedict's maternal grandparents are Mrs. John Bonney and the late Mr. Bonney of Fairfield and he is a descendant of Ethan Allen and Thomas Benedict, original settler of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
A summer wedding is planned.

Carl E. Thane, Sr. 92, of Norwalk, husband of the late Marjorie P. (Weed) Thane, passed away April 5, 2020 at Autumn Lake Healthcare in Norwalk. Born June 5, 1927 in Lewisboro, NY, he was the son of Mae Belle and Charles Brun Thane.
Mr. Thane worked as a Fabricator for Peabody Engineering and prior to that was a warehouse manager for Edward's Company, where he met his wife, Marjorie. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II.
Carl is survived by his three children Carl E. Thane, Jr. (Rose-Ann), Richard E. Thane Sr. (Joan), and Cynthia Tenney. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Nicolette Carusone (Peter), Carl E. Thane III (Debi), Laura Flowers, Jennifer Buddy (Joseph) and Richard Thane, Jr. (Andrea), by eight great-grandchildren, Johnathan Fumega, Andrew Thane, Michael Carusone, David Buddy, Emma Flowers, Alexandra Flowers, Michael Thane and Owen Thane, as well as by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Mae Adams, William Brown and Elmer Brown.
The family would like to thank the staff of Autumn Lake for their care over the past years.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 208 Newtown Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851 in his memory.

IRVINE - Private family services were conducted Tuesday for Dr. John R. Pellam, 62, a professor of physics at UC Irvine.
Dr. Pellam, who dies Saturday following a long illness was an authority in the field of low temperature physics research. He was a member of the first UCI faculty when the campus opened in 1965.
He established a low temperature research laboratory at UCI and conducted research there. He was teaching and carrying out research up to the time of his death.
A native of New York, Dr. Pellam received his doctorate from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1946, he was awarded the presidential certificate of merit for his work in antisubmarine operations research with the Navy, He was a professor at Caltech from 1954 to 1964.
He is survived by his wife Ruth-Ellen, and three children, John, Mara Allison and Gregory, and a grandchild, Jennifer Allison.

Pellam of Newark, N.Y. The candlelight ceremony took place at 8 o'clock Wednesday evening in the Metropolitan Memorial Methodist Church, Washington, with Rev. Dr. Edward G. Latch officiating.
Mr. Gilchrist gave the bride in marriage, and she wore a nay blue silk shauntung dress. She was attended by her daughter, Lucy Ellen Lockhart, who wore a dress of white organdy ove blue. Mr. J. P. T. Pearman of London, England was best man for Mr. Pellam.
Following a wedding trip through New England, Canada and New York state, the couple will live in Washington where Mr. Pellam is now engaged in basic research at the National Bureau of Standards.
Mrs. Pellam is the daughte rof the late Senator and Mrs. Augustine Lonergan of Hartford and Washington and grandaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Charles H. Waters of Washington. She attended Georgetown Visitation Convent and Gunston Hall and is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Society of Sponsors of the Unites States Navy.
Mr. Pellam received his bachelor's and doctor's degrees in physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During the war he was a field consultant for the Office of Scientific Research and Development.

URIN — Stanley L Paczkowski, 62, who lived on South State Street, a self-employed heating and plumbing contractor, died at St Elizabeth Hospital, Utica, December 23, 1985. Ill for the past month, he had been hospitalized since December 5.
Born in Turin February 2, 1923 a son of Joseph and Sophie Spiech Paczkowski, he spent his entire life in Turin. He graduated from Turin High School in 1942. He married Catherine V. Peterson in Port Leyden in 1945.
For a number of yeas Mr. Paczkowski was employed by his brother, Joseph, in the operation of Boonville Hardware Co. He had been self-employed in the operating of a heating and plumbing business several years until he was taken ill. Mr. Paczkowski was serving the Village of Turin as water commissioner at the present time.
A member of St Hedwig's Church, Houseville, he had also been a member of Turin Fire Department for many years and served as president For many years he had played baseball for Lyons Falls in the Old Black River League. He had managed Turin Little League Baseball teams several years.
Besides his wife, Mr. Paczkowski is survived by three sons, Michael Paczkowski, of Turin, Timothy Paczkowski, Lyons Falls, and Mark Paczkowski, at home; two daughters, Ms. Christine Berwick, of Bedford, Tx, and Mrs. Stanley (Linda) Winiarski, Glenfield; five grandchildren; one brother, Edward Paczkowski, Wilmington, N.C.; and three half brothers, Joseph Paczkowski, Dunedin, Fla., Anthony Paczkowski, Bethlehem, Pa., and Frank
Paczkowski, Clarksville, Tenn.
Funeral services were held December 27, 1985, at the Trainor Funeral Home, Boonville, and at St Hedwig's Church, Houseville, where Rev. Paschal Rhys, pastor, celebrated the funeral Mass. Interment will be made in Turin Cemetery.

CONSTABLEVILLE — Fay L. Ackerman Jr., 80, of West Road, Constableville, died Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Lewis County General Hospital, after a long illness.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2009 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, with Pastor Dan Tabolt of the Abundant Life Fellowship in Boonville and Lowville officiating, burial will follow in Turin Cemetery. A gathering at Abundant Life Fellowship, Route 12, Boonville, will follow the burial. Calling hours are Sunday October 25, 2009 from 4-7pm at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Marlene; nine children, Valerie and Tom Blackford, Morrisville; Leslie and Don Arthur, Lowville; Katherine, Rebecca, Aaron, and John Ackerman, Constableville; Patrick Ackerman, Turin; Matthew Ackerman, Watertown; Nathan Ackerman, Goochland, VA; one sister Beverly Bronson, West Leyden; sister-in-law Janet Ackerman, Adams; a close family friend Eddy Coffey; a special nephew Donald Stanford, who spent many summers with the family; many nieces nephews and cousins; eight grandchildren and four great grand-daughters. He is predeceased by five sisters Blanche Jones, Grace Doran, Ann Brown, Alaire, Jean Stanford; two brothers Leonard Ackerman, Lincoln Ackerman who was killed in the Battle of the Bulge at age 23.
Mr. Ackerman was born on July 11, 1929 at home in Constableville, a son of the late Fay Sr. and Amelia Meier Ackerman. He graduated from Constableville Central School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. On May 3, 1952 he married Marlene Peterson at St. Mary's Church in Constableville. He bought the Benton Farm on West and Allen Road, Constableville and the couple operated the farm from 1953 for many years until retirement. Fay loved golfing, bowling and horseshoe pitching. He was active with the Constableville bowling league for many years. He also enjoyed Hunting, Fishing and the Outdoors. He is also survived by his faithful dog Huey. He will be greatly missed.

LOWVILLE — Gifford F. Blade, 65, Glenfield, Star route, died Monday evening at 7:30 at his home. He had been in failing health for a year.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Virkler funeral home, with Rev. John Paul Miller, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Beaches Bridge cemetery.
Frineds may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 adn 7 to 9 p.m.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bertha Arlene Phillips Blade; three daughters, Mrs. Alexander (Yvonne) Powlin, Lowville, R.D. 2, Mr. Dean (Shirley) Higby, Glenfield, Star route, and Mrs. Phyllis Augustyn, Depauville: a brother, Fay, Orlando, Fla.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was born in Santa Clara March 28, 1902, a son of Bertram and Elizabeth Holmstead Blade. He married Miss Bertha Arlene Phillips in Lowville June 30, 1924.
They lived in Lowville for years. Before moving to their present home nine years ago the lived in Boonville four years. Mr. Blade was employed as a rural mail carrier in the Glenfield vicinity. Between 1941 and 1950 he was an electircian at the Camp Drum hospital.

Arlene, to Gifford Blade of St. Regis Falls. The young couple were atended by Mr. and Mrs Charles Aldrich of St. Regis Falls, who had been married in Monday morning at St. Regis Falls. Following the ceremony which was performed by the Rev. Stewart Veath of the Baptist Church, a wedding supper was served. The two couples left on a wedding trip through the central part of the state after which they will reside at St. Regis Falls, where the two young menare partners in a garage.
This is the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillips to be married within the past few weeks.

Miss Betty Jane Ide, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Beryle Ide, Lowville, became the bride of Berle E. Schantz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse D. Schantz, Denmark, in a double ring ceremony, performed at 2 o’clock, September 12th, at the home of her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Olin Ide, 28 Elm street, Lowville. Rev. Gayle Wetzel, of Norwood, officiated.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attended by her sister, Mrs. Lansing Lane, who served as matron of honor, and Miss Joan Schantz, sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid. Miss Diane Lane, niece of the bride, was flower girl.
Mr. Schantz was attended by his brother, Jesse E. Schantz, Lowville. Lansing Lane was usher.
The bride wore a floor length gown with a fitted bodice and long pointed sleeves of Chantilly lace, an illusion neckline with applique lace trim, a wide bouffant skirt of nylon tulle with panels of lace over satin. Her shoulder length veil of illusion with lace applique trim, was attached to a tri-cornered bonnet of satin with nylon niching and seed pearl trim. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses.
The matron of honor, Mrs. Lane, wore a ballerina length gown of pink nylon net over taffeta, with a bouffant skirt and a net cape. Her hat was a frill of net with a trim of small flowers of deep pink around the crown. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink and white mixed flowers.
Miss Schantz wore a ballerina length gown of blue nylon net over taffeta, with a bouffant skirt, and a matching hat of taffeta trimmed with small blue and pink flowers. Her colonial bouquet was yellow and white mixed flowers.
Miss Diane Lane, flower girl, wore a floor length gown of yellow net over taffeta, with a bandeaux of yellow ribbons in her hair. She carried a basket of mixed flowers.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Olin Ide, after which the couple left on a wedding trip to Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Toronto and other points of Interest in Canada. For traveling the bride wore a grey suit with red accessories, and a corsage of white roses. They are now at home at 88 Park Avenue, Lowville.
The bride is a graduate of Lowville Academy, and is employed by the General Telephone Co. of Upstate New York, Inc.
Mr. Schantz is a graduate of Adams Center High school. He is a veteran of the Air Force, having served during World War II, and is employed on the farm of Mrs. Fred Nortz of West Martinsburg, N. Y.
