 - He and his brother are listed in an orphanage during the 1930 census. Their father was in Auburn, NY prison, Their mother was living with her father.
 - Newspaper Article (Sand Creek News, Sandy Creek, NY, June 11, 1953)
  W. M. Sprague was in Oswego this afternoon to attend the funeral of Henry Y. Suhr, 37, well known Scout leader who died Tuesday in Oswego hospital after suffering a heart attack. He had been devoting much time recently to preparations for the national Boy Scout Camporee to be held in July in California, having been chosen Scoutmaster of the delegation going from Oswego County.
 - Editorial (Sandy Creek News, Sandy Creek, NY, June 11, 1953)
  As I See It ...
Oswego County scouting suffered a severe loss in the death of Henry Suhr of Oswego, scoutmaster of the Jamboree troop that will attend the California Scoutinig event in July. Henry was scoutmaster of Troop 11 of Oswego and was one of those who had been very active in scouting since he was twelve years old. A fine personality and beloved by boys as well as men, he continuously drove himself above and beyond the call of what was completely necessary. His untimelydeath was a great blow.
• •
Henry Suhr was still a young man, but he had coined the metal in himself by constantly giving of his best for the sake of youth and for others. Some have to live three score and ten to make out a full life, others like Henry do so much living in a short time that it takes only a few years of life to accomplish what they are doing. It seems that those are the ones least spared.
