ODIT, HARRIS P., 87, of South Pasadena, died Tuesday (Dec. 28, 2004) at home. He was born in Carthage, N.Y., and came here in 1979 from Whitesboro, N.Y. He was a Naval medic during the World War II invasion of Normandy. For 30 years he was a supervisor for Foster Paper Co. in Utica, N.Y. Survivors include a son, Amos, New Hartford, N.Y.; two daughters, Jane Marie Bradley, Gulfport, and Janice Marie Williams, South Pasadena; a sister, Helen Goppert, Utica; and two grandchildren. Helen M. (Odit) Goppert, 79, of Magnolia, Delaware, and formerly of Utica, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 21, 2009, at her daughters home in Magnolia, Delaware. She was born in Carthage, NY, on September 15, 1930, the daughter of Amos and Alice (Paull) Odit. Helen was united in marriage to Joseph J. Goppert on August 25, 1950, in Utica, NY. Helen was a very creative and artistic person who very much enjoyed reading, drawing, woodworking, sewing and gardening. Family was very important to Helen and caring for her children and grandchildren was her first priority. She was always willing to help others and make them a part of the family. She is survived by her children, 21 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She leaves a sister and a sister-in-law. She was predeceased by her husband; a daughter, Alice Goppert, in 1960; a son, H. Odit Goppert, in 1962; also three brothers; and a sister. ... Interment will be in the spring in New Forest Cemetery. UTICA - Mr. Edward C. Goppert, 62, of Utica, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016, at the Heritage Health Care Center in Utica.
Edward was born in Utica on January 24, 1954, the son of Joseph J. and Helen (Odit) Goppert, and received his education in local schools. Edward served in the US Marine Corps. He was very active and loved landscaping, enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a huge NY Giants fan. He was of the Protestant faith.
Mr. Goppert is survived by two sons, Steven Horner and Jesse J. Price; two grandchildren, Melody H. Price and Xavier C. Horner; four sisters, Dawn DiNitto, Alice Zayas (Greg Mosher), Leatrice (Dave) Doolen and Tabbitha (Paul) Smith; two brothers, Mitch Goppert and Joseph Goppert, III; two sisters-in-law, Anna Goppert and Tracey Goppert; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Alice Goppert; brother, Allen Goppert; and brother-in-law, Mike DiNitto.
Calling hours for Mr. Goppert will be Friday, April 1, 2016, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. His funeral and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

UTICA - Mr. Allen P. Goppert, 56, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly at his home. Allen was born in Utica on October 7, 1958, the son of Joseph J. and Helen M. (Odit) Goppert and received his education in Utica schools. Allen proudly served in the US Army and later with the Army National Guard.
On August 27, 1991, Allen married Arlitha Dickenson. He was employed with the Utica Rescue Mission and PYHIL Veterans Supportive Housing Program. He was an active volunteer with the Veterans Outreach Center, a program very dear to Allen's heart. He was also a video gamer and loved animals.
Mr. Goppert is survived by his wife, Arlitha; son, Luke Wharram of FL; step-daughter, Belon Baker of Utica; step-son, Rickey Dickenson of FL; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Leatrice (Dave) Doolen of NE, Dawn DiNitto and Alice Zayas (Greg) all of Utica, and Tabbitha (Paul) Smith of OK; three brothers, Joseph Goppert, III, Edward Goppert, and James Goppert, and one sister-in-law, Tracey Goppert all of Utica as well as three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his canine companion, Hemmi. Mr. Goppert's memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. TOWN OF OHIO - Dean A. Flansburg, 76, of 273 Kelly Road, Cold Brook, died Sept. 22, 2004, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, where he was admitted earlier in the day.
Mr. Flansburg was born Feb. 27, 1928, in Hinckley, a son of the late Carl Flansburg and Bertha (Haskell) Kelley. He received his education in the Poland School District and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. On Nov. 16, 1948, he was united in marriage with the former Norma Matthews. Dean previously owned and operated Pat's Inn in Poland for several years. He had a deep admiration for the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors besides his wife of 55 years, Norma, include two sons and daughters-in-law; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Norma M. Flansburg, 83, of Willoughby Hall, Newport, and formerly of the Town of Ohio, died on September 20, 2009, at the Masonic Care Community, Utica.
Mrs. Flansburg was born on January 24, 1926, in Toronto, Canada, a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Carnahan) Matthews. She graduated from Holland Patent High School in 1944 and was united in marriage with Dean A. Flansburg on November 16, 1948. The couple owned and operated the former Pat's Inn in Poland, and Norma later served as Town of Ohio Assessor for 16 years. Dean died on September 22, 2004. Norma was a member of the Singing Hills Seniors in Barneveld and was an avid bowler.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Janis Flansburg and Buck and Cheryl Flansburg, all of Newport; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Scott, on July 22, 2002.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Poland, on Friday at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Dwayne A. Durand, Pastor of the Kuyahoora Community Church, will officiate. There are no public calling hours.

The bride wore an aqua suit with black accessories and a corsage of white roses, while her matron of honor, Mrs. Truman Haskell, was in black trimmed with gold, With a corsage of red roses. Truman Haskell, the bridegroom’s uncle, was best man.
The Rev. Clifton Bohanan, pastor of the Poland Community Baptist Church, performed the single ring ceremony. After a reception for the family, the couple left for a trip through the Adirondacks.

Miss Deborah Ann Brelinsky became the bride of Thomas Carl Flansburg at 2 p.m. today in SS. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church before an altar decorated with white gladiolas.
The Very Rev. Theodore Kondratick officiated at the double ring ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, is the daughter of Mr. and Mr. John Brelinsky, R.R. No. 2. Little Falls. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Flansburg, Main St.. Poland.
Miss Cynthia Brelinsky, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Janet Brelinsky, sister of the bride; Jane Sobolowski, cousin of the bride; Betty Goodwin. Shirley Boucher, and Kathy DuPont. Cindy Sobolowski. cousin of the bride, was minature bride.
Best man was David Eckler, brother of the bridegroom. Reginald Greiner, Joseph Goggin, Robert Kemler, and Joseph Bienick. Elmer Miller, cousin of the bridegroom was ring bearer.
The bride was attired in a gown of rose chantilly lace with sleeves ending in a ruffled edge. The fitted bodice was styled with a high lace ruffled collar. The bell-shaped skirt of lace had a scalloped nemline. A cathedral length train of lace ruffles cascaded from the bride's shoulders. A headpiece of silk and velvet petals outlined in seed pearls and trimmed with orange blossoms buds was attached to a four-tiered veil of nylon illusion.
The maid of honor wore a floor length gown of white lace and red velvet. The empire lace bodice bad a high ruffled collar and long sleeves edged in a ruffle. The long slim velvet skirt was banded in white satin at the waist with a bow front.
The bridesmaids wore gowns identical to the maid of honor except with red sashes and bows. Their headpieces of red nylon lace, accented with white lily-of-the-valley flowers held shoulder length veils.
The miniature bride wore a lace gown identical to the bride’s.
An evening reception will be held with music by the Johnny Soron Orchestra.
After a trip to the Pocono Mountains the couple will reside in Poland.
The new matron, a 1968 grad- Central School, is employed as a stenographer at Herkimer County Community College.
The bridegroom, a 1968 graduate of Poland Central School, is employed by Easten Rock Products Inc. and is a member of the Naval Reserves.
Pre - nuptial events were given by Mrs. Bertha Kelley. Mrs. Helen Miller, Mrs. Celeste Cowan, Mrs. Carolyn Miller, and the bridesmaids.
Out of town guests were present from Florida, Rhode Island, Scotia, Broadalbin and Grand Island.

NEWPORT —The first wedding ceremony using the new Catholic Nuptial rites was performed on Saturday, Sept. 12. in St. John's Roman Catholic Church here, uniting in marriage Miss Kathleen Jane DuPont and Scott Dean Flansburg.
The Rev. John Wojtyna, pastor, performed the 11 a m double ring ceremony before the altar, which was decorated with white gladiolas. The Wedding March was played by Varnum Harris, organist.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs William D. DuPont Jr.. of Rose Valley Road. Poland. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean A. Flansburg, Main St., Poland.
Matron of honor for her niece was Mrs. Kenneth C Miller Jr. Bridesmaids were Mrs. James R Smith, sister of the bride: Mrs. Thomas Flansburg, sister-in-law of the bridegroom: Miss Kathryn Wagoner, of Higgins Bay, and Miss Donna DuPont, sister of the bride, Lodema Miner, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.
Kenneth C. Miller Jr., served as best man for his cousin. Ushers were James R Smith, brother-in-law of the bride; Shannon McMahon, John Mahar, and William Flansburg, brother of the bridegroom. Jimmy Clark was ring bearer.
Given in marriage bv her father, the bride chose an Empire waisted, floor - length gown of satin and rosepoint lace, styled with a high lace scalloped collar with lace-covered bodice and satin buttons. Sheer lace sleeves, ending in bridal points and a controlled A-line skirt, completed the styling. Her detachable train of satin and lace flowed from her waistline. A crown of lace flowers, with beaded petals, held her four-tiered net illusion veil. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses, pink roses, miniature carnations, large carnations and ivy.
Her matron of honor wore a turquoise floor-length squared neckline gown, with linen bodice, sheer sleeves, held at the wrists with linen cuffs, and a sheer lace flowing skirt, gathered with an Empire waist effect.
Her bridesmaids and the flower girl wore similar outfits in pink, with the flower girl’s in blue. They all carried colonial styled nosegays of carnations, tinted to match their gowns. The matron of honor’s bouquet contained roses to match that of the bride's.
Immediately following the ceremony, the couple were honored at a reception at the American Legion Home in Cold Brook. They traveled to Niagara Falls and Canada on their wedding trip.
Both the bride and bridegroom are graduates of Poland Central School. She is emploved by Herkimer County BOCES in Herkimer and he is employed by Redmond's garage and is a member of the U.S. Naval Reserves.
Wedding guests were present from New Hampshire, Canada, Maryland. Rhode Island, Utica and Valley towns.
