  George Alonzo Passage Sr., 59, of 829 Edwards St., longtime employe of James River Corp., died Saturday afternoon in Carthage Area Hospital. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Assembly of God Church, West Carthage, with Rev. Eugene Kemp, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

  CARTHAGE – Lila R. Passage, 77, 423 North Clinton St., died Monday evening, May 21st at home, under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
  Lila was born on April 8, 1935 in Carthage. She attended school in Carthage. Mrs. Passage was a long time member of the Calvary Assembly of God in West Carthage. She married the late George Alonzo Passage on June 14, 1950, with the Rev. Rae L. Brothers officiating. Mr. Passage died on February 27, 1988.
  Lila enjoyed cookouts with her children and baking treats for the grandchildren. She loved to play games and go for long rides to enjoy the beauty of nature. She was very active in the women's group at church through the years, helping make quilts, rolling bandages for missionary barrels and many other projects.
  She is survived by her six children, Mrs. Robert (Lila) Roggie, Judy Passage, both of Carthage, Mrs. Larry (Jean) Shannon, Deferiet, George Passage, Jr., West Carthage, Paul Passage, Belleville and Robert Passage, Natural Bridge. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Marion Crump, Carthage, Mrs. Melba Gleason, Watertown, Mrs. Frances Pete, Evans Mills, Mrs. Gerald (Wanetta) Lautenschlager, Layton, Utah and one brother, Stanley Christman, Philadelphia, NY, 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
  Besides her husband, she is predeceased by two brothers, Gerald Christman, Port Charlotte, Florida and George Christman, Carthage.
  A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 25th, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Assembly of God, West Carthage, with the Rev. Anthony P. Niger II, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage.   MOHAWK – Alton (Al) E. Boepple, 83 of Spring Street, Mohawk, NY and for over 50 years of State Route 167, Little Falls, NY passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Medical Center, New Hartford.

    He was born on June 26, 1935 in West Winfield, NY the son of the late Lloyd Thomas and Mable (Worden) Boepple.  He was a graduate of Mohawk High School Class of 1953.

    On April 11, 1959 he was united in marriage to his wife of almost 60 years the former Joyce E. Getman at the Paines Hollow Methodist Church.

    For many years Mr. Boepple was the owner and operator of the family dairy farm CT Lin Farm on State Route 167, Town of Little Falls.  Following his retirement from farming he went on to work for the Town of Little Falls Highway Department for 13 years.  Retiring in 2000.

    He is survived by his wife Joyce, his daughters Cheryl Brown and her husband George, Oppenheim, Terry Hadsell and her husband David, Mohawk and Linda Boepple, Mohawk, his grandchildren Joshua Brown (Jamie), Jessie Preston (Jon), Tanya Pitcher (Adam), Kayla Hadsell and Kara Reinhardt, great grandchildren, Zoe Pitcher, Ashlyn Pitcher and Alaina Brown, sisters in law, Jean Boepple, Little Falls and Ann Boepple, Nebraska and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brothers Carl Boepple in 2007, Wayne Boepple in 2009, by his sister Beverly Harwick in 1997 and by his brother in law Jim Harwick in 2018.  

    Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls later in the spring of 2019.

  MOHAWK—Miss Joyce Elaine Getman daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Getman, R. D. 1, became the bride of Alton Boepple. son of Mrs. Lloyd Boepple, also of R. D. 1 and the late Mr. Boepple, at an 11 a. m. ceremony on April 11 at the Paines Hollow Methodist Church.
  Henry Opperman, pastor, performed the single ring ceremony in a setting of white gladioli and white candles. Wedding music was played by Miss Betty Lou Cone, Mohawk Central School music teacher.
  Mrs. Joanne Worden served as matron of honor, while the Misses Beverly Boepple, sister of the bridegroom, Patricia Sadlon and Patricia Coveleski were bridesmaids. Jack Bladek served as best man and Burton Boepple, Jr., Robert Boepple, a cousin of the bridegroom, and James Harwick were ushers.
  The bride, escorted by her father, wore a gown fashioned with a lace top, square neckline and long pointed sleeves. Her plain satin skirt was worn with a hoopskirt and fell into a short train. Her fingertip veil was caught to a lace cap. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses.
  The matron of honor had a gown with rose-colored taffeta underskirt and pink lace overskirt and carried’ a bouquet of pink carnations and pink roses. The bridesmaids were dressed alike in green taffeta with white lace overskirts and carried colonial bouquets of white carnations and red roses.
  A reception followed at the Paines Hollow Grange Hall. After a trip to Niagara Falls and Canada, the couple are residing at Little Falls R. D.
  The bride Is a graduate of Mohawk Central School and has been working as a laboratory technician at Ilion Hospital. He is a Mohawk Central School graduate and engaged in farming.
  Showers were given by Mrs. Francis Schwarz, Miss Beverly Beopple and Mrs. Jean Beopple; Mrs. Joanne Warden, Miss Patricia Coveleski; Mrs. Leslie Warden

   Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of delustered satin with bateau neckline, long pointed sleeves and pearl embroidered Alencon lace motif on the bodice. The bellshaped skirt had matching motifs in an apron effect, and the bouffant back fell into a chapel train.
  A coronet of seed pearls held her tiered bouffant veil, and she carried white feathered carnations, stephanotis and ivy in a crescent bouquet.
  Miss Elaine Nowiski, her maid of honor, wore a royal blue delustered satin gown with Empire waist, bateau neckline, bracelet sleeves and a modified skirt with a Watteau back caught to a bow. A semi-pillbox headpiece with circular veil completed her ensemble and she carried a crescent bouquet of while feather-top pompons and ivy centered with pink roses.
  Wearing identical gowns in cranberry satin were the bridesmaids, Miss .Andrea Gladwin, Mrs. Arlene Byrnes, and Mrs. Beverlv Harwick, Utica, sister of the bridegroom.
  Lizanne Riley, Johnson City,cousin of the bride, was a miniature bride, and John A. Byrnes IV was ring bearer.
   Best man was R. Michael Von Esch. the bride's brother, with 1st Lt. George Vantusko, Long Reach, Calif., David Updike, and James Harwick. Utica, as ushers.
  A reception was held at the Griffiss AFR Officers Club, after which the couple honeymooned in the New England States. Capt. and Mrs. Boepple are now residing at 18 Sunset Lane.
  The bride, employed at Oneida National Bank and Trust Co., was graduated from Rome Free Academy, and the bridegroom, who attended Mohawk Central School, is stationed at Griffiss with the 41st Air Refueling Squadron.
  A rehearsal runner was given by Dr. and Mrs. Francis C. Nobert.

She wore a Juliet cap of matching roses and seed pearls, with a fingertip veil. Her flowers were white carnations, accented with yellow roses and a star flower with an ivy garland
  The maid of honor and bridesmaids wore empire full-sleeved gowns of taffeta in shades of yellow to gold, featuring brown velvet vests and headpieces. They carried fall-colored pompons in colonial bouquets. The flower girl wore a yellow taffeta gown and carried a nosegay of pompons.
  A reception at the Mohawk American Legion Home will follow the ceremony. The couple has chosen Florida for a wedding trip and will reside at Cohocton, RD 2. upon their return.
  The new bride is a 1970 graduate of Mohawk Central School and received an AAS degree in journalism from Morrisville Technical College in 1972. She attended Syracuse University in 1973 and is employed by Moore-Cottrell, of North Cohocton.
  The bridegroom is a 1970 graduate of Cohocton Central School and received an ASS degree in engineering technology from Morrisville Tech in 1972. He is employed by his father.
   Bridal showers were given by the bride’s family and bridesmaids, and by the bridegroom’s sister and family.

   Virginia F. “Ginger” Dutcher, a lifelong resident of Mohawk, New York, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2012, after a brief illness. Born November 29, 1931 in Mohawk, she was the daughter of the late Arleigh T. and Hazel (Worden) Francisco.
   Virginia was the assessor for the Town of German Flatts for several years and was also a licensed real estate agent.
   She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Carrol J. Dutcher; one son, Andrew and his wife, Annemarie of Mohawk; and daughters Barbara Wright of Liverpool, New York, and Laurie Kowalick and her husband Robert of Rochester Hills, Michigan; three grandchildren, Frank Roe Jr, and Alyse and Alek Kowalick; and one great-grandson, Corbin Roe. She is also survived by her brother Richard Francisco of Mohawk and her sister, Jeanne Morin of Clay, New York; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceeded in death by her brother Arleigh.
   A funeral service, for Virginia, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 17th at Grace Episcopal Church on Main Street in Mohawk. At Virginia’s request there will be no calling hours. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
   Virginia’s family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude and appreciation to the nursing staff at Faxton-St. Luke’s Hospital, and especially to Dr. Christopher Max for the many kindnesses shown in the care of our wife and mother during her illness.

   Carrol J. Dutcher, 83, of Mohawk passed away on Tuesday January 21, 2014 at Mohawk Valley Health Care in Ilion.
   Carrol was born on September 12, 1930 in Mohawk; he was the son of the late Linos and Grace (Williamson) Dutcher. He was a graduate of Mohawk schools and was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the NYS Thruway Authority for 37 years. Carrol was a Navy veteran serving as a sonar technician during the Korean Conflict.
   In August of 1953 he married the former Virginia “Ginger” Francisco, who passed away in December of 2012.
   Carrol was a member of and held several offices in the Mohawk American Legion Post #25; he was also a member of the Legion Drill Team. He was also a member of the Herkimer Elks Lodge and served on the Town of German Flatts Fire Commission for many years.
   Carrol is survived by a son Andrew and his wife Annemarie of Mohawk; two daughters: Barbara Dutcher Wright of Cazenovia and Laurie and her husband Robert Kowalick of Rochester Hills, Michigan; and three grandchildren: Alyse and Alek Kowalick and Frank Roe; a brother Frederick Dutcher of New York Mills, and two sisters; Catherine Wells of Herkimer and Eleanor Pederson of Ilion.
   In keeping with Carrol’s wishes there are no calling hours and funeral services will be private. Friends and family are asked to consider memorial donations to MOVAC Ambulance Corp, State Rt. 5s Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

  Roy W. Edick November 1, 2006
   Roy Wagner Edick, age 80, of 460 Otsego St, Ilion, went to his heavenly home to join the Lord and his loved ones on Wednesday afternoon, November 1, 2006. He passed away at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion.
  Roy was born December 21, 1925 at his family home outside Ilion, son of the late Ross John and Reba (Wagner) Edick. Following graduation from Ilion High School in June of 1944, he entered the U.S. Army. During WWII, Roy served in the European Theater of War as a member of General Patton's 3rd Army, 1st Platoon H Co, 328th Combat Team, 26th Infantry (Yankee Division). He qualified for the Combat Infantry Badge and two Campaign Battle Stars. At the close of WWII, he was transferred to U.S. Forces in Austria (U.S.A.F.). For 10 months, Roy served and lived in an 800-year-old castle in the Austrian Alps taken over by Gen. Mark Clark. The Gmunden Castle served as an enlisted men's rest center. Roy always considered this his "Shangri-La" period. Prior to WWII, the castle was home for an Austrian Forestry School, and during WWII was used by German Soldiers recuperating from wounds and illness. In 1946, Roy entered Utica College of Syracuse University in the first year of its existence. He went on to graduate from Hartwick College, Oneonta in 1950. On August 19, 1950, he married Frances B. Traver, a college classmate, in the First Oneonta Methodist Church. The marriage was blessed by three wonderful sons. During his life, Roy was involved with the family appliance business and accounting work at Sperry Rand UNIVAC and MDS. He also enjoyed working at Doyle Hardware in Utica for 12 years.
  Roy was a very active lifetime member at the North Columbia United Methodist Church, and for many years acted as Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, and Youth Leader. For some 20 years, Roy found enjoyment in being part of the Boy Scout movement, serving as committeeman with Ilion Methodist Church's "Troop 8." He enjoyed the fellowship of man and boy in the highest sense, and adult leadership in such activities as camping, hiking, campfires, etc. He was an active member of the American Legion - Ilion Post 920, and became a member of the Sons of the American Revolution - Oriskany Battlefield Chapter. His sense of humor was enjoyed by many. Roy felt blessed with a fine family throughout his life, and felt his life was greatly enriched by knowing so many fine people as he passed through life. He always loved the Mohawk Valley, it's rolling hills, small towns, and the wonderful people.
  Survivors include his wife, Frances "Fran"; three sons, Ronald John Edick and his wife, Carolyn, of Poughkeepsie, Randall Ross Edick and his wife, Debbie, of Seattle, WA, and Lt. Col. Rudyard Grayson Edick (USAF) and his wife, Darina, of Albany; four grandchildren, Maxwell T, Garrett W, Calvin J, and Christian Ross Roy Edick; one aunt, Marion Edick; two cousins, Carol Wagner and Eileen MacIntyre; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
  Family and friends are invited to visitation Saturday, November 4th, from 4-7 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St, Ilion. The Ilion American Legion Post service will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Roy's funeral service will be held Sunday, November 5, commencing at 2 p.m. at the North Columbia United Methodist Church (Elizabethtown Rd.) with Pastor Hans Drews officiating. A walking procession to N. Columbia Cemetery for interment with full Military Honors will follow the service. In lieu of floral offerings, please consider memorials in Roy's name to the N. Columbia Methodist Church, or the Boy Scouts of America Troop 8. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. A special thanks to the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home 2nd Floor staff for the loving care, compassion, and dedication shown to Roy and is family throughout his stay there.

 The marriage of Miss Elizabeth Carol Wolf to Dennis Anthony Waksmunski took
place at noon yesterday in St. Joseph-St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The Rev. Clarence O'Shea officiated at the double ring, ceremony and Nuptial Mass.
  The bride, of Alexandria, Va., is the daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Clyde Chamberlain, 1305 Taylor Ave. Her husband also of Alexandria, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bouldy Walsmunski, Lilly, Pa.
  Given in marriage by her grandfather, Howard J. Wolf, the bride was attended by Miss Colleen McNamara, Alexandria, Audry Waksmunski, Harrisburg, Pa., brother of-the bridegroom, served as best man.
  An evening reception was held at PLAV Hall, after which the couple left on a trip to Tahiti. They will make their home at 2660 Redcoat Drive, Alexandria, Va.
  The bride, formerly employed by Mohawk Airlines, is now with Allegheny Airlines, Washington, D.C. The bridegroom, a graduate of Electronic computer Training Institute, is stationed with the Navy at Washington, D.C.
