  The bride is a graduate of Potsdam Normal School and has been a. member of Tuger School faculty, of this village, for the past three years.
  Mr. Kast is employed by the First National Bank in this village. He is a member of the Bachelor Club.

  ILION — Theodore L. Trombley, 37, of 48 Highland Ave., died yesterday in Syracuse Veterans Hospital after a long illness.
  Born in Glens Falls, he was a son of Theodore and Grace B Everett Trombley. The family moved here in 1918 and Mr. Trombley married Ruth E. Rivers of Herkimer in 1938. He was a production engineer in Remington Arms and a veteran of World War II having served with the Navy.
  Mr. Trombley was a communicant of the Church of the Annunciation.
  He leaves his wife and parents; one son, Theodore Jr., two daughters, Kathleen, and Deborah, all at home; one brother, Everett, Mohawk; one sister, Mrs. Clarabelle Morris. Ilion; several cousins, aunts and uncles.
  Services will be 9 a. m. Monday from the Applegate Funeral Home and at 9:30 from the Church of the Annunciation where a solemn high Requiem Mass will be offered. Interment will be In St. Agnes

  Herkimer—Miss Ruth E. Rivers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Rivers of 617 East German, Herkimer and Theodore L. Trombley, Clark St. Ilion, were married Saturday at St. Francis de Sales Church by the Rev. Daniel J. McCarthy, pastor.
   Miss Rivers was attended by Miss Eileen Rivers as maid of honor and Mr. Tromhley by Everett G. Trombley as best man.
  The bride wore a gown of burgundy with matching accessories and carried a bouquet of carnations. The bridesmaid wore teal blue with black accessories and
carried dark pink carnations.
  Dinner was served at the home of the bride. The couple then left for a weekend trip. Upon their return rhey will reside in Main St.. Ilion.
  Miss Rivers attended Herkimer Hig h School. Mr. Trombley was graduated by Ilion High School in 1935, and is employed as a tool maker at the Remington Rand Typewriter plant in Ilion.

  The bride is the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Fred Hight, 105 East Ave. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold French, 40 Columbia Pkwy., Ilion.
  The traditional wedding music was sung by Mrs. Mayme Lille, accompanied by Miss Marie Lille, organist.
  Mrs. Joan Franco was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. JoAnn Fazio, Miss Mary Sue LaPorte, with Miss Lisa Hight, bride's sister, as junior bridesmaid.
  The bride’s brother, Fred Hight, was best man, with Richard Fazio and Kenneth Cowen ushering.
  Following a breakfast in the home of the bride, a reception will be held in the General Herkimer Hotel from 2 to 6 p.m. After a trip to Florida, the couple will reside in Felton, Del.
   The new matron is a graduate of Frankfort-Schuyler Central High School and was employed by the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co., Utica. The bridegroom, an Ilion Central High School graduate, is presently serving with the U. S. Air Force, Dover, Del.
  Out-of-town guests attended from Utica, Binghamton, Oneonta, Clayville, Missouri, Montana, California, and Valley towns.

  ILION — The marriage of Miss Kathleen Trombley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold French, 40 Columbia Parkway, to Stewart Robertson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Robertson, 31 Elm St., was performed Aug. 19 at the Ilion Baptist Church by Rev. George Thomas of Pennsylvania.
  Wedding music was played on the organ by Robert J. McGill, Potsdam. Matron of honor was Mrs. John Bullis, and bridesmaids were Mrs. Albert Coulter, Mrs. Peter Donahue and Debby Trombley.
  Best man was Ron Ramsden, and ushers were Richard Janis, John Gill and Garth McGill

  Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a high-necked, long-sleeved wedding gown trimmed with lace. She carried a wedding bouquet of flowers.
  Following a reception at The Mayfair, Rome, the couple left for a wedding trip to Canada. Their residence is in Storrs, Conn.
  The bride has an AAS degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in math and is a receptionist at Dunlop Tire & Rubber Co., Utica.
  The bridegroom graduated from Oswego State and is Studying for his master’s degree in Spanish at University of Connecticut.
  Pre-nuptial events included showers by Mrs. Raymond O’Bryan, Mrs. John Braren, Mrs. Harry Staley, Mrs. Robert Moore, the mother of the bridegroom, the maid of honor and bridesmaids.
  Guests were from Pennsylvania, Syracuse, Ohio, Oswego, Vermont and Rochester.

  ILION - Harold E. French, 65, of 40 Columbia Parkway, Ilion, passed away July 19.
  He was born May 28, 1920, in Frankfort, the son of Harry and Grace Jones French. He was married to Mary Madaras. She passed away in 1959. He then married Ruth Trombley on August 11, 1960. He was a WWII Army Veteran and was employed as a machine setter with Remington Arms until his retirement in 1982. He was a Presbyterain and a member of the Remington Arms 25 Year Club.
  Mr. French is survived by his wife; three children, Theodore Trombley, of Horsham, PA, Deborah Murray, of Ilion, and Kathleen Robertson, of Austin, TX; two brothers. Dean French, of Esley, SC, Louis, of Garrett Park, Maryland; two sisters, Naomi Burton, of Richfield Springs, Marion McAllister, of Alexandria, VA; and seven grandchildren.
  Services will be 9:30 Monday from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., with interment in Sts. Peter and Paul's Cemetery". Herkimer. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday.

  Lorraine G. Rivers, age 86, formerly of Prindle Apartments, Ilion, died on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion.
  She was born on August 8, 1929, in Ilion, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Parkinson) Rank, and was a graduate of Ilion High School. On June 2, 1951, she was married to Donald Rivers, in Herkimer. He died on February 11, 1998. Lorraine was employed in the office at Duofold Co., Mohawk, retiring several years ago. She enjoyed camping and fishing at Indian Lake.
  Survivors include her daughter, Donna Maine, of Ilion; two grandchildren, Robert Acker and his wife, Tina, and Shane Acker; eight great-grandchildren, Nicole Acker, Brandon Acker, Shari Maine, George Maine, Michael Maine, Cody Maine, RoseMarie Acker, and Brayton Acker; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
  Lorraine was predeceased by her parents and husband.
  Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer.

  Ilion
  John R. Braren, 81 of 50 Richfield Street, Ilion, passed away, Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Utica.
  He was born, April 13, 1927 in Saybrook CT., the son of the late George and Elizabeth (North) Braren. John grew up on Ilion and was a graduate of the Ilion High School. He then enlisted with the U.S. Navy serving during WW II. On February 14, 1947 he married the former, Pauline E. Rivers in Ilion.
  John was employed as a manager with Oliver Distributors in New York Mills, retiring several years ago. John was a devoted and loving husband and father who touched the lives and hearts of those who knew him. He is cherished by his five children who survive him.
   John leaves three sons and two daughters and their families, Terry Braren and Joelle Claps and Jerimy Braren; Jack and Roberta Braren, Alana Braren; Linda and Robert Mc Cumber, Robert and Scott Mc Cumber; Susan and Donald Bach, David and Michael Bach. He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline on December 17, 2000.
  In keeping with John's wishes, his funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego Street Ilion. Friends are asked to consider memorials to one's favorite charity in John's memory.

  Their attendents were Miss Grace Rivera sister of the bride, and Duane Chapin. The bride was attired in a tan suit with black accesories, while her sister wore a grey suit with black accessories. Both wore corsages of red roses.
  Following the wedding, a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents.
  Mrs. Braren attended the Herkimer schools. Mr. Braren, a graduate of Ilion High School, was recently discharged from the Navy after 18 months service. He was seaman 1-c on the mine-sweeper, USS. Knight in the Pacific.
  After their wedding trip they will reside at 156 E. North St.

  The bride wore peau de sole, accented with lace motifs, embroidered pearls and beads, with a chapel train, illusion veil, caught to an Egyptian crown of pearls and rhinestones, and carried a bouquet of sweetheart roses and ivy.
  After a reception at the American Legion Hall, the couple left for a trip through the southern states. They will reside at 150 West St. here.

  FRANKFORT, HERKIMER Co., NY - Marjorie Gladys "Magie" Upson, ( 55y ) d: October 22, 2009 - Margie was born July 10, 1954, and died in her sleep on Thursday morning, at her home in Frankfort, after a respiratory illness. She was 55. She lived with her sister and niece in Frankfort. Margie was a person with special needs which were met by everyone who knew her. The doctor told her mother she probably would not live past the age of 9 years, but because of her mothers love and affection, Margie proved the doctor wrong. Margie attended the ARC in Herkimer since her mothers passing and enjoyed being a part of the community, whom we wish to thank for all their help, compassion and making Margie feel welcome. We also need to thank Dr. Booth, who always told us to give Margie whatever she wants as long as shes happy. We would also like to thank Lennox Brothers Pharmacy for all their help, David Galer from UCP, Cathy Malloy from DSO, Sharon Lille and Ashley Kelly from DSO, and Ellen and Becky from the Herkimer ARC. They have been a tremendous help. Margie enjoyed life. She had a great sense of humor, looking forward to visits with friends and family, was an avid soap opera fan, loved stiching and had a knack for bringing a smile to everyones face. She also enjoyed watching Walker, Baywatch, Knight Rider, Days of Our Lives and Lawrence Welk every Saturday night and her Kentucky Fried Chicken Saturday lunch. Margie was a member of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort and a member of the Fat Ladys Club. Besides her sister, Ethyl Brown, and niece, Susanne Brown, she is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Janice Upson of Frankfort, Stuart and Sharon Upson of Frankfort, Roy and Cathy Upson of Mohawk, and Glenn and Wendy Upson of Iva, South Carolina; a special brother-in-law, Larry Brown; a dear friend, Bob; and her canine eating pal, Rusty. She has 10 nephews, one niece, several great-nephews and nieces, also many thoughtful cousins, and two aunts, Marjorie Riesel and Mable Robinson. She was predeceased by her mother, Louise, and father, Elmer (Ted); a brother, Raymond, when he was 5 months old; and two special aunts, Elizabeth (Lid) Wheelock and Ethel (Ud) Sterling.

He was married to Ethel Upson in Frankfort and had been employed at the N.Y.S. Thruway Authority until his retirement in 1977. Mr. Sterling was a Charter Member and Past Chief of the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Dept and a member of the West Schuyler United Methodist Church
  He is survived by his wife. Ethel, his father-in-law, Glenn Upson, Ilion, three sons and daughters-in-law; Mr. & Mrs. Richard Guy Sterling, Boston, Mass., Mr. & Mrs. Gary Sterling Schuyler, Mr. & Mrs. Keith D Sterling, Deerfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Neil (June) Reinhardt, Louisville. KY, one brother, Kenneth F. Sterling, Schuyler; one sister, Mrs. Chauncey (Ruth) Kunkel, Schuyler; several brothers and sis-ters-in-law; eight grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was born December 31, 1919 in Schuyler, NY the daughter of the late Glenn and Gladys Farrington Upson, and was a graduate of Frankfort Schools. In December 25, 1936 she was united in marriage to Theodore D. Robinson in Frankfort, NY he passed November 02, 1990. Mabel is survived by daughters Sherry Boyd, Karen Hughes both of Piseco, Cindy Moore of Oneida and Lacey Robinson of Baltimore MD; a sister Marjorie Riesel of Herkimer; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. In keeping with Mabel's wishes there are no public calling hours or funeral service.

  Frankfort—Miss Bertha A. Zelie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Zelie, Town of Schuyler, and Floyd L. Upson, son of Mr. and the late Mrs. Glen Upson, also of Schuyler were married Oct. 26, 1946, in the Methodist parsonage here by the Rev. Fred G. Cotnam.
  The maid of honor was Miss Evelyn Beck, and the best man was Donald Upson, brother of the bridegroom, both of Schuyler.
  The bride wore a white rabbit’s hair wool street length dress with gold trimming and brown accessories, and a corsage of red roses and baby’s breath. The maid of honor wore an acqua wool crepe dress with gold buttons and black accessories and a corsage of yellow roses.
  Following a wedding dinner at the Mahaqua Farm, the couple left for the western part of the state. Upon their return they will reside with the bridegroom’s parents in Syracuse.
  The bride is graduate of Frankfort High School and has been employed at the Remington RandPlant 2., Ilion. The bridegroom also attended Frankfort schools and is employed as a welder at the Utica Structural Steel Corp.
  The bridegroom was recently discharged from the army after several years of overseas duty in the Pacific area.

  HERKIMER, HERKIMER Co., NY - Mrs. Marjorie Gladys (Upson) Riesel, ( 88y ) d: June 06, 2015 - a longtime Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford with the love and support of her family. Born on May 26, 1927 in Frankfort, Marjorie was the daughter of the late Glenn and Mabel (Farrington) Upson. "Cookie" or "Moose" as she was lovingly referred to by her family over the years, was raised and educated locally. She was a graduate of Frankfort High School and in her later years attended Herkimer BOCES where she received her Nurse's Aide certification. She was last employed by the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion as a nurse's aide where she took pride in the care of patients. Marjorie always spoke with honesty and had a flair for storytelling. She spent many hours writing letters to the Herkimer Telegram regarding patriotism. Her favorite times were Memorial Day, Independence Day, attending parades and singing the Star Spangled Banner, as she cherished the American Flag and what it stood for. She is survived by a son; Timothy Riesel and his companion Debora of Herkimer, several grand children, great grand children, great great grand children, nieces, nephews and a daughter in law. Marjorie was predeceased by a son, Richard Riesel, three brothers, three sisters, and her feline friend, Priscilla.
