Miss Margaret Dobson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth A. Dobson of Ashville, who will be married to Harvey L. Martin of Bear Lake, Pa., was honored at a bridal shower given by her aunt, Mrs. Lyle Loomis, 30 1-2 Genesee Street. Covers were laid for 25 guests from Ashville, Panama, Youngsville, Bear Lake and Spring Creek as well as Jamestown. Prizes went to Mrs. E. A. Dobson, Mrs, E. Ashville — Miss Margaret Lua Dobson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth A. Dobson of Ashville, R.D. 2, became the bride of Harvey L. Martin, son of Kenneth M. Martin and the late Mrs. Martin of Bear Lake, on New Year's Day at 8 P.M. at the Mac Alpine Presbyterian Church in Buffalo. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. J. Ernest Jolley.
Mrs. Claude Johnson, sister of the bridegroom, was the bride's only attendant. She wore a brown suit, with pink accessories, and a corsage of pink roses. Mr. Johnson, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, was the best man.
The bride wore a powder blue suit, with white accessories, and corsage of white roses.
Mrs. Martin is a graduate of Panama Central School, Class '48. Mr. Martin was graduated from Panama in 1944, and is a veteran with two years service in the Pacific theater. He now is employed by the Erie Railroad.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin will reside at Bear Lake.
Prenuptial affairs were given by Mrs. Lyle Loomis and the Neighborhood Club.

Kenneth married, 07 May 1949 Chandlers Valley PA, Phyllis Ransom. Their marriage was blessed with: Kathy, Christine, Julie and Kenneth Michael.
Ken and his wife, Phyllis, owned and operated a dairy farm, "Sunrise Ridge" for many years on Rounds Hill, Sugar Grove Twp. Ken was active in the Warren County Fair, where he served as a director for 20 years. He was also the Dairy Cattle Chairman. He was involved in building every dairy barn on the Fairgrounds. He was chairman of various other fair related projects. He also exhibited in the Open Class Dairy Show at Warren County and several other Championship Shows, as well as the Eastern National Show in Harrisburg. He was a member of the Warren County Holstein Club for 30 years. Ken served as a Sugar Grove Twp. Supervisor for 18 years and was an Eastern 4H Dairy Club Leader for 12 years. He enjoyed playing golf and doing woodwork. He and his wife Phyllis celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in May 2009. Ken was a member of the Russell United Methodist Church.

Autumn nuptials uniting Miss Carol May Borton, elder daughter of Mrs. Carlene Chapman Wiltsie, 7 Forest Heights, to Harold Hodges, son of Mrs. Grace Hodges of Sugar Grove, Pa., took place Saturday. Rev. Clarence Atwater performed an impressive double ring ceremony at 3 P.M. in the Faith Tabernacle, in the presence of 27 members of the immediate families.
Maid of honor was Miss Dora Clark wearing a light grey suit with maroon accessories, and a corsage of gardenias. Best man was Carl Spink.
The bride was charming in a light brown suit with dark brown accessories, and a bridal corsage of white rosebuds.
The service was followed by a wedding supper at the home of the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mallery, at Lottsville, Pa., for the families. Lighted white tapers and a two-tiered wedding cake formed the beautiful buffet table appointments.
Mr. and Mrs. Hodges left for a Canadian motor trip, to be at home after Oct 23 in Sugar Grove.

Dorothy J. Garvey, 80, of 816 Spring St., died Thursday, May 13, 2010, in WCA Hospital.
She was born Sept. 6, 1929, in the town of Harmony, N.Y., a daughter of the late James and Grace Loomis Hodges.
She was a 1948 graduate of Sugar Grove High School.
Prior to her retirement in 1992, she was employed by Ames Department Store for 12 years as a jewelry clerk. She earlier had worked for Hills and Bigelow's Department stores and in Warren, Pa., for New Process Co. and Bell Telephone Co.
She was a devoted Elvis fan, collector of jewelry and dolls and was also an accomplished seamstress who made clothing for many of her family members.
Surviving are two daughters: Karen (Marcus Greenfield) Garvey of Jamestown, and Carol (Bruce Blood) Garvey of Little Valley; four grand-daughter: Tracy Jean (David) Woodfield of Fredericksburg, Va., Carrie Ann (Chris) Thompson of Glen-dale, Ariz., Melissa Gail (Greg Barber) Emke of Falconer, and Jessica Danielle Emke of Jamestown; five great-grandchildren: Christian, Madeline, Lilliann, Gracie and Daniel; a brother, Walter (Sue) Hodges of Sugar Grove; and a sister, Mert (Chet) Carlson of Gerry, N.Y.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. Garvey, whom she married July 9, 1955, in Warren, and who died Jan. 17, 2009; a son, Curt Alan Garvey, May 28, 1964; a brother, Harold Hodges; and a sister, Evelyn Taylor.

Donald F. Garvey, 88, of 816 Spring St., died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing.
He was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Warren, Pa., a son of the late Floyd and Agnes Cochner Garvey.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Japan with the 52nd Combat Engineer Battalion and the 78th Military Government Company. Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was employed for 32 years by Jamestown Metal Products as an assembler. He was a life member of John W. Tiffany Post 53 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Robert P. Illig Post 47 Disabled American Veteran, Jamestown Moose Lodge, a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion and a former member of the IAM Union.
For many years he raised and raced homing pigeons.
Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Hodges, whom he married July 9, 1955; two daughters: Karen Garvey of Jamestown and Carol Garvey of Little Valley: four grandchildren: Tracy Woodfield of Fredericksburg, Va., Carrie Thompson of Gerry, Melissa Emke of Falconer and Jessica Emke of Little Valley; four great-grandchildren: and a brother, Robert Garvey of Jamestown.

Curt Alan Garvey, 19-day old son of Donald and Dorothy Hodges Garvey, of 816 Spring St., died at 11 a.m. Thursday (May 28, 1964) in the Buffalo Children's Hospital. Hodges born in Jamestown May 9.
Surviving are his parents; two sisters, Karen Ann Garvey and Carol Jean Garvey; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Agnes B. Garvey, all of Jamestown; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Grace S. Hodges, Sugargrove, Pa.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul W. Peterson, pastor of First Covenant Church, officiated. Burial was in Lake View Cemetery.

Viola M. See, 70, of 425 E. Main St., formerly of Livermore, Calif., died at 10:05 p.m. Sunday (March 3, 2002) in her home. She was born May 28, 1931, in Youngsville, the daughter of Freeman Loomis and Helen Graham Peterson. She was a 1949 graduate of Warren High School. She had been employed as a teller by the Warren National Bank and retired in 1989 from the Wells Fargo Bank of Califonia. She was a member of the Youngsville Fireman's Auxiliary, where she served as past president and past treasurer. She was also a member of Saron Lutheran Church, Youngsville. She is survived by her husband, Harley B. See, whom she married Sept. 8, 1951, in First Lutheran Church, Warren; five sons: David M. See of Warren, Dennis A. See of Binghamton, Douglas W. See of Greencastle, Pa., Dexter A. See of Youngsville and Donald C. See of Antioch, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and three stepsisters: Dorothea Lucas of Warren, Evelyn Worchol of Erie and Marilyn English of Russell.

Steven H. Crowley, 60, of Turtlepoint, was a son of Daniel and Judith Petrie Crowley. Mr. Crowley was a 1967 graduate of Port Allegany High School and was a Milk Tester, employed by PA and NY DHIA.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sartwell, and their Parish Council. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his four-wheeler.
He is survived by sisters Monica Crowley, and Amy Ayer; brothers Daniel Crowley and Andrew (Debra) Crowley and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery.
