   MARIE M. HETHERINGTON, 77,  of Englewood died March 13 in Denver. Services were March 16 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. Burial was in Fort Logan National Cemetery. Mrs. Hetherington was born March 25, 1916, in Ossian, Ind. She married Wilmer Hetherington Feb. 9, 1946, in Cleveland. She was a registered nurse. She worked with the Disabled American Paralyzed Veterans of America. She is survived by her husband; one son, John of Hastings, Mich.; and three daughters, Karen Mannan of Bennett, Susan Hetherington -Anderson of Denver and Cristina Corwin of Norfolk, Va. Contributions: Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.


Evelyn June Ochsankehl

  Evelyn June Hetherington, loving mother, grandmother and sister passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Luther Manor. Age 84 years. The daughter of the late Lester and Eleanor (Fobear) Ochsankehl, Evelyn was born June 28, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Oral R. Hetherington Sr. on October 18, 1947. He predeceased her June 28, 2007. Evelyn was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Her faith was very important to her and had prayed the Rosary daily. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved time spent with family.
  Surviving are two sons and one daughter, Oral Hetherington Jr., Auburn; Kay Ann and Larry Green, St. Helen; Paul D. and Debbie Hetherington, Saginaw; many grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers, Wanda Michalek, Dorothy, Betty Marie, Donald and Robert Ochsankehl.
  Funeral and committal service will take place 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2015 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Deacon Roger Pasionek will officiate. Private interment will take place Monday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Sunday from 12:00 noon until time of service. Those planning on an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Holy Family Catholic Church.

 [Homer Valentine]  76, of Atlanta, MI, passed away at his residence on Nov. 27, 2011. He was born on Dec. 6, 1934 to Homer and Ida (Canfield) Valentine in Atlanta, MI, and spent most of his life here.

He worked as a truck driver for over 35 years. Homer was a member of the Atlanta Eagles 4077, and was an avid reader, especially enjoying books about American History and the Old West. He enjoyed both hunting and fishing as well.

Homer is survived by his companion, Janie Hannon of Atlanta, MI; sons, Kevin and Keith (Nicole) Valentine, both of Evansville, IN; daughters, Kathy Valentine of Chrisney, IN and Karen (Keith) Valentine of Evansville, IN; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Elaine) and Jack Valentine, both of Atlanta, MI; and sisters, Barbra (Jerry) Hicks of Gaylord, MI, and Virginia Nichols of Memphis, TN. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Mave and sister, Ila.

  Victoria Jo-ann (Van Alstine) Laviola, age 59, of Bear Lake, died, tragically, in a car accident on Saturday, December 10, 2016. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Earl William and Catherine Josephine (Shall) Van Alstine, both of whom preceded her in death. She attended Cheboygan Schools and later married Jeffery Berdan of Cheboygan. She had many interests and pastimes including reading, going for walks, lunch dates, shopping with family members or friends, and... watching game shows, crime shows and almost anything else on television. No matter what her day had in store, it could not start without coffee—and lots of it, and her cigarettes.
  She leaves a loving family to cherish her memory including her daughter, Jennifer Lyn (Jason) Greenwood of Bear Lake, Mich., grandchildren; Alyssa Kagey and Amber Kagey of Thompsonville, Katelyn Barnes of Cadillac, Brandon Greenwood and Justin Greenwood of Mesick and Marissa Laviola of Bear Lake, great grandchildren; Lanie Greenwood and Logan Gary both of Cadillac, siblings; Elaine VanAlstine, Bert (Nannette) VanAlstine, Timothy VanAlstine, Patrick (Mary) VanAlstine and Kathy (Gayle) Ross all of Cheboygan, former husband and dear friend, Jeffery Berden of Cheboygan, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. In addition to her parents, Victoria was preceded in death by four siblings; Frank VanAlstine, Sidney VanAlstine, James VanAlstine and Gloria Selfs.
Victoria’s family is planning a memorial service and life celebration gathering which will take place in the spring. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Memorial contributions are recommended to the wishes of the family.

William LeRoy Kentch

  William LeRoy Kentch born 9-5-1927 in Costa Mesa, CA Orange county, only son to Floyd Elmer Kentch and Mildred Alma Mason; married Grace Marie Stevens Kentch (Mentor) on 5-31-1945 in Quartsite, AZ. Children: Rondah Helen Kentch, Roberta Hope Kentch Wing, Renita Heidi Kentch Fellars Clark Plunk Zentz, Rebecha Hazel Kentch Kahlstorf, Royce Henry Kentch, Robin Halene Kentch Billingsley, Mildred Pearl Kentch Van de Water Barcom, adopted William Lynn Booth on 11-28-1953, fostered Billy's sister Barbara Jean Booth, and many more children were drawn to this couple.
   William and Grace began their lives in Riverside moved to Prescott, Phoenix, and Buckeye (Tonopah) Arizona throughout their 33+ years together. In 1948 Bill and his "blood brother" Donald Burton LeClaire and his wife Mildred Darlene White LeClaire were very close and their children just fit in among Bill's children as well, Donald George LeClaire, Barbara Jean LeClaire, and Robert Joseph LeClaire.
   In the Navy Bill was a pilot so Bill flew an Air Coupe back and forth between California and Arizona. When Bill and Grace moved to Prescott Bill was known as "Digger" due to operating a back hoe in construction of footings, foundations, ditches, etc. necessary in Prescott. Bill was a deputy of Yavapi County Jeep Posse and Search and Rescue, worked construction in Phoenix and was working for Salt River Project for 19 years. On his way back from work in Globe at Florence Junction, AZ on his way to his homestead in Tonopah, AZ Bill was killed in a car accident at the age 51 on 1-19-1979 and is laid to rest at Louis B. Hazelton Memorial Cemetery.

  Gladys A. Bain Boggess, 77, 2512 New Pine Dr., Altoona, and formerly of the town of Union, passed away Friday, June 9, 1995, at Luther Hospital.
  She was born in 1917 in Eau Claire. She married Wallace Bain in January of 1940 in Eau Claire. They lived in Union until Wallace's death in 1968.
  Gladys moved to Eau Claire in 1969 and married Harold Boggess in April of 1969. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the town of Union Homemakers and the Helping Hands Club.
  Survivors include two sons, Richard (Sandy) Bain of Chippewa Falls and Frederick (Lucille) Bain of Eau Claire; two daughters, Marge (Ted) Basacker and Barb (John) Des Forge, both of Eau Claire; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
  She was preceded in death by a daughter Sharon Bain who died at birth; two brothers, Elmer Kurth and Arthur Kurth.
  Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, at St John's Lutheran Church with the rev. Ned Lenhart officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Gardens, town of Washington.
  Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Chapel and an hour before services Tuesday at the church. (Eau Claire Leader Telegram, Eau Claire, WI, June 10, 1995)
