  McGRAW - Charlotte L Denniston, of Clinton Street, McGraw, died Sunday in Cortland Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She had lived in Mount Pleasant and had recently moved to McGraw.
  She worked as a nutrition site manager for the Office for the Aging in McGraw.
   She was a member of the McGraw United Methidist Church, the 20th Century Club of McGraw, the McGraw Grange. the McGraw Historical Society and the McGraw Senior Citizens.
  She is survived by her husband. Charles F. Denniston; one daughter, Janet Denniston of Syracuse; three sons. Ronald of Dryden, Larry of Johnson City, NY, and Robert of Clay; one sisier, Mrs Wilson Skinner pf Phoenix Ariz., one brother Leonard Peacock of Yucaipa, Calif., and two grandchildren.
  Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the McGraw United Methodist Church, Rev Robert Searle officiating.
   Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Rev. Verna Halstead officiating. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Barth Funeral Home, McGraw.

  Charles F. Denniston, 79, of 320 Mt. Pleasant Road, Volney, died Wednesday, April 28 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Leesburg, Fla.
  A native of Fulton, Mr. Denniston had resided in McGraw and Volney, and had a winter home in Leesburg. He had owned the Denniston Insurance Agency in McGraw and Fulton.
  Mr. Denniston was an associate member of New Life Presbyterian Church in Leesburg, Fla.
  He was a past president of the board of directors of the Oswego County Mutual Insurance Company in Parish, N.Y. He was a 50 year member of Mt. Pleasant Grange No. 349, Volney, and a member of Masonic Lodge No. 470 F&A.M. in Cortlandville.
  Surviving are his wife, Jane M. Denniston of Volney; a daughter, Janet E. Denniston of Baldwinsville; three sons, Ronald C. Denniston of Dryden, Larry G. Denniston of Binghamton and Robert E. Denniston of Clay; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
  Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. today, May 6 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Volney. Burial is at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Volney. There were no calling hours. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton, has charge of local arrangements

  McGRAW — The First Presbyterian Church in Dolgeville, was the setting Sept. 20 for the wedding of Miss Pamela Sue Adams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John N. Adams of Dolgeville to Robert F. Denniston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Denniston of McGraw.
  Against a background of giant mums and palms the couple exchanged vows in a double ring ceremony performed by the Rev. Stephen W. Marosy, assisted by the Rev. G. Elliott Presby. Traditional wedding music was played by Mrs. Robert Loucks.
  Escorted by her father, the bride wore a full length gown of Dulcette satin over tafetta. The high neckline, ending in a wedding ring collar, fitted bodice and long puffed sleeves with deep culfs, were adorned with reembroidered Venose lace. The A-line skirt with vertical rows of matching lace was designed with a full, detachable, cathedral-length train accented with matching lace. From her Camelot bridal bonnet of matching lace fell a bouffant veil. She carried a cascade bouquet of white orchids and stephonotis.
  Miss Nancy Adams was her sister's maid of honor and the Misses Janet Denniston, sister of the bridegroom, and Joyce Colomaio were bridesmaids. They wore identical full-length gowns of Jakarta over taffeta in moss green with high necklines, fitted bodices, A-line skirts and long puffed sleeves. The bodices and sleeves were accented with matching lace Dior bow were worn with matching bouffant veils. The maid of honor carried yellow roses with fugi mums. The bridesmaids carried yellow roses.
  Ronald Denniston served as best man for his brother. Larry Denniston, also a brother of the bridegroom, James Manderano, Donald Card and Douglas Brown were ushers.
  The bride's mother chose an ensemble in turquoise and the bridegroom's mother wore pink. Both wore corsages of white baby orchids. The grandmothers of the bridal couple wore corsages of red roses.
  Following a lawn reception at the home of the bride, the couple left for a wedding trip. Upon their return they will reside in Rochester.
  The new matron attended Western College for Women, Oxford, Ohio, and is a graduate of the Binghamton General Hospital School of Nursing. Denniston is a graduate of Broome Technical Community College and is in his senior year at Rochester Institute of Technology.
  The bridegroom's parents were hosts at a rehearsal party at which time the attendants were presented gifts.

  PHOENIX - Edward L. Rawson, 61, resident of 1312 East River Road south, Fulton RD 2, died Thursday in Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital, Syracuse, after having been stricken with an attack of illness while at work with the Carrier Corporation. He was employed by the corporation as an industrial welder.
  Mr. Rawson was born in Phoenix, son of Lewis Rawson and Sophia Sharp Rawson. He had resided at Hannibal Center and Pennellville and for the past nine years at his present home. He served in the medical service unit of the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the sheet metal workers union at Carrier. He was also a member of the Phoenix United Methodist Church.
  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elsie M. Rawson; one daughter, Mrs. Edwin J. Deming of Fulton RD 5; a son Adelbert York of Fulton and three grandchildren.
  Service will be Monday at 2 p. m. at the Allanson-Granville-Tappan Funeral Home, 919 Main St. here. The Rev. Richard L. Tillaoaugh, minister of the United Methodist Church will officiate, Burial will be made in Hannibal Cemetery.

  PHOENIX - Funeral services for Mrs. Carol Gray Rawson, 40, wife of Edward L. Rawson, will be conducted Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at the Hopkins Funeral home and at 9:30 at St. Steven's Catholic Church. The Rev. Edmund D. Berrigan will officiate and burial will be made in St. Mary's cemetery, Syracuse. Mrs. Rawson, whose home was Phoenix RD 2, died Wednesday night in University hospital after an illness of five years. Besides her husbaned, she leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Gray of Syracuse, one sister and six brothers.

A native of Wimbledon, England, Mrs. Rawson lived 30 years in Hannibal Center before moving to Fulton 30 years ago. Her husband, Edward L., died in 1972. Mrs. Rawson was a member of Phoenix United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy J. Deming of Syracuse; a son, Jack York of Mexico; a foster son, Michael DeMauro of Fulton; a foster daughter, Jodi Smith of Fulton; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services were held Friday, Oct. 18, at Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, Phoenix, the Rev. Roger C. Bell officiating. Burial was in Hannibal Center Cemetery.

  Mrs. Ruth E. DeLisle, 67, of the Idle Wheels Trailer Park, town of Schroeppel, passed away Sat., Jan. 3, at the A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton, N.Y. She had been a patient there for two weeks.
  Mrs. DeLisle was a native of Phoenix, and lived in this area for most of her life. She resided in Zephyrhills, Florida, from 1972 until the death of her husband, Obald DeLisle, May, 1980. She moved back to the Phoenix area after his demise.
   She was a former waitress.
  Mrs. DeLisle is survived by a son, James F. Rawson, R.D. #1, Pennellville, N.Y.; one step-son, Robert O. DeLisle, Alden, N. Y.; a daughter, Mrs. Georgeanna Buhl of Willingboro, N.J.; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Merrill and Mrs. Edna Cook, both of Phoenix, N.Y.; and Mrs. Rita Walters of Canastota, N.Y.; three brothers, Richard Rawson, Bridgeport, N.Y.; and Francis Rawson and Ralph Rawson, both of Phoenix, N.Y.; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
  Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tues., Jan. 6, ! 1981, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Stephen's Church, Phoenix, N.Y., by the Rev. J. Robert i Quigley. Spring burial will be in the Pennellville Cemetery

Born in Bourvet, Ontario, he lived in Canastota for 10 years before moving to Florida in 1972. He had been employed by the Chrysler Corp. in Syracuse. He formerly was a communicant of St. Stephen's Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Rawson; a son, Robert O. of Alden; a stepson, James F. Rawson of Central Square; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Georgianna Buhl of Willingboro, N.J. Services were Friday in St. Stephen's Church. Burial was in Pennellville Cemetery.

  Carl Rawson, 7-year-sold son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rawson of Ptaoenix, fell into the barge canal at that place on Tuesday evening of last week. He had gone, down for the last time.
  William Hurd secured a pike pole and swished the pole through the water for some time, when the hook caught in the boy's clothing and he was pulled out, but the lad's face was turning black and respiration had ceased. The rescuers began the oldfashioned method of rolling over a barrel, while Dr. D. F. Young was summoned. He approved of the methods employed and it was continued for 15 minutes, when the doctor caught the sound of returning breath. The boy was taken to his home and is on the road to complete recovery.

  He was a member of Carpenters local union 12 of Syracuse. a member of the Pathfinder Fish and Game Club of Fulton, vice president of the Oswego Valley CKM radio club and a member of the Phoenix Congregational church.
  Mr. Rawson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Avery Rawson; two daughters, Mrs. Gerald Rogers of RD 1, Phoenix and Mrs. Rodney Ingerson of RD 2, Fulton, also three grandchildren. He leaves four sisters, Mrs. Ubald DeLisle of Canastota, Mrs Francis Merrill, Mrs. Edward Walter and Mrs. Wendell Cook, all of Phoenix and 3 brothers, Richard Rawson of Bridgeport, Ralph of Phoenix and Francis of Phoenix RD 1.
   Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p. m. at the Allanson-Glanville - Tappan Funeral Home at 919 Main St. with the Rev. Norman E. Isaman officiating. Cremation will follow with interment of the ashes in the Pennellville Cemetery.

Surviving are two daughters, Esther (Gerald) Rogers of Phoenix, Carol (Richard) Rogers of Seneca Falls; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Burial, Pennellville Cemetery. The celebration of her life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at the Palermo Fire Dept., 4170 State Route #3, Fulton, NY 13069. Contributions may be made to the Palermo Fire Dept.

  Edith J. Merrill, 82, of 21 Culvert St., Phoenix, died Saturday at home.
   Born in Phoenix, she attended Phoenix High School. She was a cook at Elm Street Elementary School, Phoenix. She operated the snack bar at the Bowl Inn in Phoenix, and she was a waitress at Beaver Meadows in Phoenix. She was an avid bingo player and a charter member of the Beaver Meadows Golf and Recreation Association.
   Her husband, Francis H., died in 1995. A son, George, died this year.
   Survivors: Five daughters, Patricia Hauff of Syracuse , Jeannette McCarroll of Mallory, Joan Dunham of Phoenix, Sherrie Urtz of Verona and Bonnie Czirr of Pennellville; two sons, Ronald of Danville, Pa., and Michael of Owensboro, Ky.; 36 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

  Francis H. Merrill, 84, of 118 Culvert St. died Saturday at University Hospital in Syracuse after a short illness.
   Mr. Merrill was a native of Syracuse and lived in Phoenix most of his life. He was a machine repairman for the New Process Gear Division of Chrysler Corp. for 31 years before retiring in 1972.
   He was a charter member of the Beaver Meadows Golf and Country Club.
   Surviving are his wife, the former Edith Rawson; three sons, Ronald of Danville, Pa., George of Cicero and Michael Merrill of Virginia Beach, Va.; five daughters, Patricia Hauff of Weedsport, Jeanette McCarroll of Mallory, Joan Dunham of Phoenix, Sherrie Urtz of Verona and Bonnie Czirr of Pennellville; 31 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

  PHOENIX. — Numerous descriptions of the French and their customs are contained in the letters of Sgt. Ralph Rawson, written to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rawson of Phoenix. Sgt. Rawson is with a medical battalion sent overseas last May and participated in the invasion and subsequent battle of Normandy.
  A member of the second draft contingent sent from Pulaski, he will complete four years of army service April 15. During his training he visited 26 states, giving scope to his hobby of describing new acquaintances in his home letters.
   Also in service are two brothers, Corp. Francis Rawson, with a searcnlight battalion at Fort Jackson, S. C., and PFC Richard Rawson, air crew chief at Chico, Calif

  PHOENDX, Feb. 23-A double wedding took place Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at Congregational church when two brothers and two sisters took their marriage vows in the presence of a small group of relatives and friends. The Rev. C. N. St. John performed the ceremony. The participants were daughters of Mrs. John Avery of Syracuse and the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rawson of Phoenix.
  The first couple was Miss Madge Arlene Avery and Francis Shirley Rawson and their attendants were Mrs. Edith Merrill and Francis Merrill of Syracuse, the former a sister of the bridegroom. The second couple was Miss Alice Inez Avery and Ralph Edward Rawson who were attended by Miss Ruth Gobson and Martin Looker of Fulton.
   Ralph Rawson one of the bridegrooms.is in the U. S. army stationed at Fort Jackson. S. C. Mr. and Mre. Francis Rawson will reside in Syracuse where Mr. Rawson is employed by the E. C. Stearns company.

  Esther L. Rawson, 88, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003.
  A native of Syracuse, she came to Phoenix in 1949 where she was the owner/operator of the Phoenix Diner until 1958. Mrs. Rawson belonged to the Phoenix   Group.
  She is pre-deceased by her husband, Delevan C. Holdridge, 1958, and Ralph E. Rawson Sr., 1995.
  Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Larkin of Barefoot Bay, Fla. and Charlotte Livingston and Marilyn Bell of Phoenix; two sons Ralph E. Holdridge of Hudson, Fla., and John Rawson of Phoenix; two sisters, Geraldine Reis of Phoenix, and Rita Lowe of Mexico; nine grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 5 at the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, Phoenix.

The bride was attired in a gown of angelskin and Chantilly lace. A matching coronet held her French imported silk illusion veil. Miss Doreen Rawson was maid of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Miss Deborah Rawson, sister of the bride, Miss Georgianne Rawson, Miss Marilyn Holdridge, and Miss Brenda Callen. Blanche Rawson, sister of the bride, was junior bridesmaid. Barry French was best man. Jack Bellor, cousin of the bride, Tom Simons, Charles Dreer and Bruce Gardner were ushers. Tommy Smiley was junior usher. A reception took place in the home of the bride's parents and the couple left for Tampa, Fla. The bride is employed by K-Mart, Mattydale. Her husband attended Geneseo College, Geneseo, and is employed by King and Gravaris, Phoenix, as junior inspector. The couple will reside in Fulton.

  PHOENIX — Wendell Henry Cook Jr, 11, died this morning at his home on Vickery Lane after an illness of several months. The boy who was a member of Cub Scout Pack Twenty had completed the fifth grade in the Cherry Street School.
  He is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Wendell H. Cook Sr. one sister Joan Cook, two half sisters Jean Walters and Judy Rawson and one brother Charles Cook. He also leaves grandparents Mr. and Mrs, Irving Walter of Syracuse, Mrs. Blanche Rawson of Phoenix and Mrs. Mary Ann Cook of Syracuse, uncles, aunts and cousins.
  Funeral services will be conducted at the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home in Phoenix Saturday at 2 p. m. The Rev. Norman E. Isaman pastor of the Congregational church will. officiate and burial will be made in Woodlawn cemetery in Syracuse.

  Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon for Roy H. Juno, 53, of 751 S. First St. who passed away Wednesday in Lee Memorial Hospital.
   A native of Newark, Mr. Juno had resided in Fulton most of his life. He retired from the Sealright Company in 1961. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.
  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ina L. Juno; a son, John Juno; a daughter, Miss Christine Juno; two grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Porter of Baldwinsville; and a brother, Elmer Juno of Hawaii.
  Funeral services were at Young and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Harold A. Thomas, pastor of State Street United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairdale Cemetery in the spring

  WORST ACCIDENT IN COUNTY THIS YEAR— Two Fultonians and a young man from Florida lost their lives hi an accident involving three vehicles that occurred on Route 3 in the Town of Granby Saturday. Pronounced dead on arrival at Lee Memorial Hospital were Lawrence E. Bogardus, 51, of 8 Nestle Ave. and Ervin Reynolds, 19, of 470 D St., Lake Wales, Fla. Succumbing to injuries at State University Hospital later was Mrs. Ina L. Juno, 56, of 8 Nestle Ave., a passenger in Bogardus' vehicle. The accident was apparently caused when a station wagon being driven by a fourth person, Aaron Jordon of 215 N. Fourth St., Fulton, and towing a auto being steered by Reynolds, went out of control and swerved into the eastbound lane of the highway. The auto driven by Bogardus, right, rammed the vehicle which was in tow, center. These two cars are shown in the photographs below. It was reported that it took three wreckers to pull the wreckage apart at the scene.

  Services for Mrs. Ina Juno, 56, 8 Nestle Drive and Mr. Lawrence Bogardus, 51, 8 Nestle Drive, victims of an automobile accident last Saturday, are today at the Young and Son Funeral Home.
  Mrs. Juno, widow of Roy Juno, was born in Oswego and was a life resident of this area.
  She was a member of the State Street Methodist Church and was employed at the General Electric Co. in Syracuse.
  She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles Hawksby of Fulton; a son, John R. Whalan of Utica; two grandchildren; a sister, Miss Irma Whalen of Marcey, and a brother, Ralph Whalen of North Syracuse.
  Mr. Bogardus, born in Newark, resided in Fulton for most of his life. He was employed at Goldberg's Furniture Store in Fulton.
  He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lucetta Parsons of Oswego; a sister, Mrs. Paul Lysak of Fulton, and two brothers, Fredrick of Pulaski and Carlton of Fulton.
  Following the services, burial will be in Fairdale Cemetery, Town of Hannibal.
