In college, he was instrumental in organizing the NJ.T. Chapter of the American Rocket Society and active in the N.I.T. Chapter of the Pacific Rocket Society, serving as treasurer of both chapters.
A 1961 alumnus of Rome Free Academy, Fitch and his wife, the former Bonnie White of Wilmington, Calif., reside at 671 DiFiore Dr., San Jose with their son, Todd Matthew.

NEW HARTFORD - Norman A Locke, 69, of 19 Hara Crescent, entered into rest Monday evening, April 12 1982 at Faxton Hospital.
He was born September 21, 1912 in Utica, the son of Clifton and Winifred Wardwell Locke. He received his education in local schools. On January 26,1936, Norman was married to May Howarth in Utica. Mrs. Locke died in 1910. Mr. Locke had been associated as an automotive engineer with several automobile agencies, having retired several years ago. He ws a member of Plymouth-Bethesda United Church of Christ, the Mohawk Travelers Trailer Club, and was formerly a member of the Camera Club and Sports Car Club.
Norman is survived by one daughter, Mrs. James (Karen Sue) Fehr of Deansboro; one brother. Charles M. Locke of Clinton; five grandchildren. Mrs. David (Jacqueline) Giacona, Utica; Daniel, Michelle, Patrick, and Christopher; one great grandson. David John Giacona Jr.; one nephew, Alan Locke. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning at 10:30 from the Surridge & Jacobson Memorial Home Inc. 2312 Genesee St., with the Rev. R. Tiffany Bates officiating. Friends respectfully invited. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park Calling hours Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9.

Josephine K. Locke, 89, died on Dec. 27, 2010 in Jacksonville, Fla.
Born in New York Mills, she was a former resident of College Hill Road in Clinton, a cashier for A&P supermarkets, and had lived in Jacksonville for the past five years.
Brothers Edward, Steve and Frank, and sisters Nellie, Stella, Mary and Lottie died before her.
Surviving are her husband, Charles M. Locke; son Alan; sisters, Anna and Jeannette; granddaughter, Ashley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Dec. 30 in Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach, followed with a graveside service in Jacksonville National Cemetery.

Cumberland, MD - Jane Hull Lohnas, 95, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Devlin Manor Health Care Center.
Born April 3, 1920, in Alamogordo, New Mexico, Mrs. Lohnas was the daughter of the late James Richard Hull and Bea (Chapman) Hull.
She was also preceded in death by her husband: John D. Lohnas, Sr., two sons: John D. Lohnas, Jr., and Gerald Smith Lohnas; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A homemaker, Jane is survived by her sons: William “Bill” Lohnas and wife, Janice, Clermont, GA; Rick Lohnas and wife, Beth, Cumberland, MD; and Gerald Lynn and wife, Yvona, Mount Airy, MD; her grandchildren: Paige McFarland and husband, Derek; Kimberly Lohnas; Craig Lohnas; Mary Jane Fischer; John Lohnas; and Amanda Lohnas; as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

A candlelight ceremony was performed by the Rev. Grant Selch of Immanuel Congregational Church, West Winfield, in the present of the immediate families.
Miss Charlotte Lohnas, sister of the bridegroom, and Chauncey M. Adams, uncle of the bride, attended the couple.
The bride wore a dress of white crepe trimmed with Irish point lace and a corsage bouquet of white and yellow roses.

Mary L. Tolley passed away on July 22, 2019, at home surrounded by family. She was born on Sept. 25, 1935, to Stanley and Marian Locke in Springfield, Ill.
Mary had a great compassion for animals and nature. She had been a Docent with The Living Desert in Palm Springs. Mary lived many years in Idyllwild, Calif., before moving to Wickenburg in 2004. She took great pride during her years of volunteer service at The Wickenburg Humane Society.
Mary was also an avid birder, hiker and enjoyed doing and trading puzzles with her friends.
Mary is survived by her four children Leigh Bennett, Lynn Wetter, Jim Tolley and Lisan Lema; her five grandchildren Kahai, Dane, Vance, Ruslan and Tiana; and one great-grandchild, Kingston. She was preceded by her brother John Locke.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wickenburg Humane Society.

She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed knitting and crafts. She was preceded in death by her brother, Vern Coulter.

Miss Gail Wanda Coulter of Walton wed Vard L. Houghtaling of Fly Creek on April 16 at 2 p. m. The ceremony took place at the Milford Methodist Church, Milford with the Rev. Philip N. Pitcher officiating. It was a double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter, of Thomas D. Coulter and the late Mrs. Coulter. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Houghtaling of Fly Creek.
Mrs. Richard Weir was organist and Mrs. Walter Highland, soloist. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a gown of lace styled with a sweetheart neckline. The bouffant skitt of silk organza over net with lace trim was floor length A waist length veil of silk illusion was gathered to a pearl crown. She carried a white Bible with white ribbon streamers and a white orchid.
Mrs. Howard Kutzseher of Flushing, L. I., was the matron of honor. She wore a pink brocaded taffeta street length dress with matching headpiece and short veil. She carried white flowers arranged in a colonial bouquet. Frank Mickauzina of Plattsburgh was best man. Harold Butler of Milford, the bride's cousin, ushered.
A reception was held in the church parlors for more than 125 guests fmmediately following the church ceremony. A buffet supper for the family was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Butler, Milford.
The bride was graduated from Walton High School and Kingston Hospital School of Nursing. She was a night supervisor at Kingston Hospital prior to her marriage. Her husband was graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1953 and served with the U. S. Air Force for four year

FLY CREEK VALLEY _ Effie L. Ainslie, a lifelong resident of the Fly Creek Valley area, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday night, Oct. 3, 2010, surrounded by her family. She was 84.
Born Sept. 16, 1926, in Fly Creek, she was the daughter of Norman A. and Bertha V. (Rundle) Locke. Raised in Fly Creek Valley, she attended local schools and graduated from Cooperstown High School with the Class of 1945. She then attended Albany Business College.
On Aug. 24, 1947, she married James S. Ainslie of Richfield Springs in a ceremony at the First Presbyterian Church of Richfield Springs.
Over the years she was employed by Beadle and Company Chevrolet, Buchanan Hardware and Patterson Brothers, all in Richfield Springs. She also worked for many years for Otsego County and upon her retirement was deputy clerk of the Board of Representatives.
Throughout their life together Effie and James loved going to county and state fairs, as well as several World's Fairs. Effie's love of rural life extended to her active roles in Grange activities. A member for over 50 years of the Fly Creek Valley Grange, she was also a member of Otsego County Pomona Grange, New York State Grange and National Grange.
Effie possessed a strong faith in the Lord and attended the Cooperstown Assembly of God. A vibrant woman who loved life, she truly enjoyed caring for her family, her horses and her gardens. She will be greatly missed.
Effie is survived by her husband, James, her lifelong love of 63years; two sons, Jim Ainslie and his partner, Doree VanTassel of Fly Creek and David Ainslie of Clinton; three grandchildren, Scott Ainslie and his wife, Debbie of Minnesota, Shannon Ainslie of Fly Creek and Aaron Ainslie and his wife, Joy of Palm Bay, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her mother, Bertha Locke, who died Dec. 11, 1953; her father, Norman Locke, who died July 12, 1988; and an infant brother.
A funeral service will be offered at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown with the Rev. Bill Kirk of Syracuse, officiating. Effie's family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening, prior to the service.

Miss Effie S. Locke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Locke, Fly Creek, became the bride of James S. Ainslie, son of Mr. and Mrs: William T. Ainslie. Richfield Springs, RD 3, in a double ring service in the Presbyterian church of this village at 1 :30 o'clock, Sunday, August 24.
The Rev. Walter Craige of Yonkers officiated. The decorations consisted of white gladioli, babys breath and snap dragons, the gift of Mr. and Mrs. Clement Huyck.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white silk maquisette over satin fashioned with a sweetheart neck line and tight fitting bodice shirred in front. Her veil of finger tip length was attached to a beaded tierra and she carried a colonial bouquet of white roses and forget-me-nots.
Mrs. Walter Race, the bride's cousin, was matron of honor and wore pink net over satin, with a shoulder length veil and carried a colonial bouquet of pink roses and babys breath.
The other attendants, Mrs. Charles Briggs of Henderson and Miss Dorothy Maxwell of Hartwick were gowned in pastel yellow and light blue respectively and matching shoulder length veils.
Harold D. Ainslie was best man for his brother and the ushers were Leo McLean, Richfield Springs, RD 3. and Wallace Huff, Cooperstown, RD 3.
Miss Grace Maxon sang, "I Love You Truly" and "In Thee Is Gladness,"' accompanied by Mrs. Ray F. Shaul who also played the traditional wedding marches.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church parlors after which Mr. and Mrs. Ainslie left for a trip through the Adirondack's.
Mrs. Ainslie is a graduate of the Cooperstown Central school, class of 1945, and of the Albany Business College and is secretary in the office of Beadle and Company, Inc.
Mr. Ainslie is a graduate of the Richfield Springs Central school, class of 1945, and is in partnership with his father in farming. Mr. and Mrs. Ainslie will reside in the newly purchased home in Richfield Springs, RD 3.

Jay W. McFarland, 74, East Wenatchee, a 41-year resident of the Wenatchee Valley, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 15, 1997, at Central Washington Hospital.
He was born on March 13, 1923, in Wilton, Minn., to Earl and Myrtle (Covey) McFarland. He came to the state of Washington in 1941 and was employed by the Great Northern Railroad. He entered the U.S. Navy in May of 1944 and served as a radioman until receiving his honorable discharge in February of 1946.
Mr. McFarland returned to his job with the Great Northern Railroad, where he remained until retiring in 1981. He was an agent/telegrapher at Kettle Falls, Ephrata, Colville, Chewelah and Valley prior to coming to Malaga as an agent in 1952. He moved to Vancouver, B.C., in March of 1959 and served as an agent there until 1963, when he returned to serve Wenatchee as a rail freight and passenger agent until his retirement on Jan. 1, 1981.
He married Grace Satterly on June 23, 1984, and they have since lived in East Wenatchee.Mr. McFarland was a charter member of the Eastmont Presbyterian Church; a member of Wenatchee Rotary Club; Wenatchee Chapter of Burlington Northern Veterans; Wenatchee Knife and Fork Club; the Community Concert Association; and the North Central Washington Museum.
He is survived by his wife, Grace, at the home; two daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Jean) Rummel of Richland and Mrs. Don (Patty) Vickery of East Wenatchee; one stepdaughter, Pat Neumann of East Wenatchee; two stepsons, Richard Holtz of Wenatchee and Ronald Holtz of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Mrs. Dale (Sylva) LaCombe of Spokane; five grandchildren, Stephanie and Greg Rummel and Chad, Ryan and Adam Vickery; five stepgrandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren; He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nellie, one son, Gary, three brothers and four sisters.
