  ALTMAR — Inez Trumble Soble, 84, of County Route 22, died Sept. 10, 1997, at Sunrise Nursing Home, Oswego.
   A native of Parish, she attended school and resided there since 1928.
   She was employed as a home health aide for 12 years with the Oswego County Health Department, retiring in 1982. She was also employed at Evergreen Nursing Home in Williamstown for several years.
   She was predeceased by her first husband, Hugh Trumble, who died in 1978. and her second husband, Edwin Soble, who died in 1988.
   She is survived by three sons, Martin "Jim" Trumble of Florida, Lloyd Trumble of Williamstown, and Dale Trumble of Altmar, four daughters, Ethel Ponzo of Syracuse, Dorothy Barber of Altmar, Shirley Wallace of Florida, and Eulia Mason of Fulton; three sisters, Esther Spear of Syracuse, Nellie Phillips of Williamstown, and Mildred Smith of Parish; 37 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; and 42 great-great-grandchildren.

  A counter claim for divorce was granted late Monday in the action of Ethel Stowell, an infant, by Hugh Trumble, her guardian, ad litern [?] against Warren Stowell of Sandy Creek. She is from Pulaski, Stowell in obtaining the order was represented by Calum Chamberlain, of Sandy Creek in the uncountered action. [Warren Stowell]

  ALTMAR - Hugh Trumble, 70, of RD 1, died Wednesday evening in Oswego Hospital. He was born Sepr. 4, 1908 in Albion, the son of Grover and Ethel Parkhurst Trumble. He attended the Austin District School and resided in Albion all his life. He married Inez Allen on April 19, 1028. A member of Syracuse Local 222, he was employed by various area contractors in road construction.
  Mr. Trumble is survived by his wife, Inez; three sons, Jim of Williamstown, Lloyd and Dale of Altmar; four daughters, Mrs. Ethel Ponzo of Syracuse, Mrs. Dorothy Barber, Altmar, Mrs. Shirley Wallace, N. C., and Mrs. Ula Nason, Fulton; four brothers, Grover of Port Byron, Ray of Syracuse, George of Mexico and Kenneth of California; and two sisters, Mrs. Roxie Britton of Williamstown and Mrs. Eveline Alcock of Florida,; 34 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
  Funeral services will be held Saturday ar 1 p.m. at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Altmar.

  ALTMAR — The marriage of Miss Shirley Ann Trumble daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Trumble, Altmar, to Walter S. Wallace, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wallace, Mexico, took place June 2, at 7:30 p. m., in the Baptist church, Fernwood.
   The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Richard Cowley, pastor. The bride wore a street length dress of white taffeta and white accessories. Her flowers were a corsage of white carnations. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jennings of Pulaski. Mrs. Jennings wore a dress of grey flowered creep and her flowers were also white carnations in corsage.
   A reception followed at the Wallace home. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Trumble, daughter Eula, and son, Lloyd, Mr. and Mrs.. James Trumble; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Champion and family, Altmar; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stuart, Fernwood; Donaid Bartlett, Rome; Mr. and Mrs., Carl Halsey and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hellinger.

  Edwin M. Soble Sr., of Route 22, Altmar, died Saturday at his home after a short illness.
  He was a retired carpenter with Local No. 12, Syracuse.
  He was a veteran of World War II.
  He is survived by his wife, Inez Trumble Soble; nine daughters, Pauline Pachoud of Fulton, Rose Raymond of East Syracuse, Catherine Duell of Mexico, Anna Middleton of Parish, Grace Stone of Parish, Ethel Ponzo of Syracuse, Dorothy Barber of Altmar, Shirley Wallace of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Eulia Mason of Fulton; six sons, Solomon Richardson of Parish, Carl Richardson of Phoenix, Edwin Soble of Central Square, Dale Trumble of Altmar, Lloyd Trumble and James Trumble, both of Williamstown; three sisters Adelia Barthel of Parish, Betty and Helen (Soble) of California; one brother, William Soble of Christmas Park, Fla.; 67 grandchildren; 89 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.

  Esther "Meme" Allen Spear, 87, of North Syracuse died Tuesday. She was born in Parish. She retired in 1978 as a quality control technician at General Electric Co. after 25 years. She was a life member of Russell-Tyron American Legion Auxiliary in Altmar and a communicant of Calvary United Methodist Church in Mattydale. She was a member of Solvay Moose and Carriage House Community Center.
  Survivors: Two daughters, Sally Flagler of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Sheryl Jeffery of Pinellas Park, Fla.; two sons, Robert M. of Syracuse and John B. of Monticello; a sister, Nellie Phillips of Williamstown; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.   ALTMAR—Norman B. Spear, 80, of 9340 Mexico St., died Friday at the House of the Good Samaritan in Watertown.
  Mr. Spear was born in Altmar and lived in the Central New York area most of his life. He played professional baseball in New Jersey during the early 1930s, later becoming a self-employed carpenter. He retired in 1987.
  A former director fo the Oswego County Civil Defense and member of the Altmar Defiance Fire Department, Mr. Spear was town clerk, supervisor and welfare officer for the town of Albion for several years.
  Mr. Spear served in the Navy during World War II and was a life member and past commander of the Russell Tryon American Legion Post 1435. He was also an Oswego County American Legion commander and adjutant for the Fifth District of the American Legion.
  He was a communicant of Si. James Episcopal Church in Pulaski and its vestry. He is survived by his wife, Genevive K.; two sons, Robert of Altmar and John of Monticello; two daughters, Sally Flagler of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Sheryl Jeffrey of Pinellas Park, Fla; two stepdaughters; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
   Services were scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today in St James Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

  Pulaski, July 8. — The marriage of Miss Sheryl Anne Spear to Ronny Walts of Central Square took place Saturday at St. James Episcopal church. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Frederick Mills of Christ church, Oswego.
  The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Esther Spear, North Jefferson street, and Norman Spear of Syracuse, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Walts of Central Square.
  The bride wore a gown of peau de soie, with lace bodice and short sleeves. Her shoulder-length veil of English silk illusion was attached to a crown of lace and pearls. She carried a bouquet of white orchids.
  The maid of honor was Miss Sally Spear, sister of the bride. Kelly Spear, niece of the bride, was flower girl.
  James Lewis, Central Square, was best man. A reception was held in the parish house.
  Mrs. Walts was graduated from Pulaski Academy and Central school, class of 1965. and has a position as clerktypist at Syracuse university.
  Mr. Walts, a graduate of Central Square Central school, is a brakeman with the New York Central railroad.
  Upon their return from their wedding trip, they will be at home in Central Square

She was a member of the board of directors of the Fairview Cemetery Association in Williamstown. She was a member of the Williamstown Union Church and Williamstown Grange. Her husband Elton L. Phillips died in 1994.
   Survivors: two sons, James (Carol) of Williamstown, and Henry (Linda) of Parish; two grandchildren, Steven and Jamie; two great-grandchildren, Kirsten and Samantha.

  A native of Cefalonia, Greece, Mr. Voutsinas lived 40 years in Syracuse before moving to Parish 12 years ago. He retired in 1964 as the owner and operator of The New Plaza Restaurant, Syracuse.
  Surviving are his wife, the former Rita Richardson; three son, Andrew Jr., Evangolas and Robert, all of Syracuse; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and three nephews.

  Marjorie Irene Hubbard, age 93, formerly of Pulaski, passed away on February 22, 2014, at the home of her daughter in Fort Myers, FL. She was born in Dugway, NY on August 4, 1920 the daughter of Asa and Gladys Spoor. She graduated from Parish High School in 1937. In 1942, she married Harold Hubbard and they settled in Fernwood, NY.
   In recent years they resided in Springbrook Apartments in Pulaski. Following their retirement, she and Harold had a winter home in Arcadia, FL. Marjorie retired from General Electric. She had been active in the Fernwood Methodist Church, the Women's Home Bureau and the Fernwood Methodist Crusader's Class.
   Surviving are: husband of 71 years, Harold; one daughter, Jean of Florida; one sister, Myrtis Wiltse (Donald) of Parish; granddaughter, Lisa Sheeley (Jim) of Pulaski; grandsons, Charles DeLacey of Florida, William Hibbard of Pulaski; great-grandchildren, Lacey Sheeley and Jon Sheeley of Pulaski, Brayden DeLacey of Florida, William and Cash Hibbard of Pulaski; several nieces and nephews. One daughter, Linda Hibbard, predeceased her in 2012.
  A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Pulaski Village Cemetery. Arrangements by Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, NY.

   Myrtis S. Wiltse, 85 of Parish passed away Saturday, November 5 at St. Joseph's Hospital, with her family at her side. She was born in Howardville to the late Asa and Gladys Spoor on May 13, 1931. She was a devoted wife, mother, step-grandmother, step-great-grandmother, friend and neighbor. She graduated from the Altmar branch of the Altmar Parish School as Valedictorian. She went on to the Oswego branch of the Rochester Business Institute. From there, she used her secretarial skills to work for the Parish Oil Company. She was later employed by the DeGarmo Lumber Company and then by the Merriam Insurance Agency. She was also a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, in which her son was a member. She was a correspondent for the Independent Mirror, Pulaski Democrat and the Salmon River News, with her column "Howardville Happenings". Myrtis had a strong faith in God; she was the Secretary of the Pulaski Congregational Church and a member of the Park Methodist Church in Pulaski. She was married in the Dugway United Methodist Church where she later became the Organist and a member of the UMW. She was very active in the UMW in both the Dugway and Amboy Center United Methodist Churches. She was the wife of the Pastor of the Amboy Center United Methodist Church. She was known for remembering to send cards on birthdays, get wells or sympathy. She loved to travel to the New England states, but most of all, just going for a ride.
  Surviving to cherish her memory, Myrtis is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald Wiltse; her two children, Alaina La Point (Mike) and Lance Wiltse (Maxine); a step-grandchild, Michael La Point (Anick); along with two step-great-grandchildren, Jacob and Natalie. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, from the Park United Methodist Church, 2 Hubble St., Pulaski NY. Burial will be in the Dugway Cemetery.
  Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. at the Church prior to the service. Arrangements are in care of the Harter Funeral Home, 2983 West Main Street, Parish, NY.   Joint services were held Wednesday, April 1 at Pirro and Sons Funeral Home for Demetrio "Thomas" Ascioti, 65, and his wife, Evelyn (Rice) Ascioti, 49, of 4687 Broad Road, Onondaga Hill and in the Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated.
  Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
  Mrs. Ascioti was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rice of Parish. She was a graduate of the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Senior High School.
  Mr. and Mrs. Ascioti, and two other persons, were killed Sunday, March 29 in an automobile accident on Route 175 in the the Town of Onondaga.
  They were life residents of the Syracuse area and were communicants of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Mr. Ascioti retired last year as owner and operator of Ascioti's Market, 2239 Milton Ave., after 50 years.
  Mr. and Mrs. Ascioti were members of Cavalry Club. He was a member of European Health Spa and Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union. He served in World War II in the Army. He was an interpreter for the 82nd Airborn Division.
  Mrs. Ascioti was an interior decorator with Dunk & Bright 17 years. She was a member of the Interior Design Society of America.
  The couple is survived by two sons, James W. of Liverpool, and Thomas; a grandchild; his mother, Mrs. Catherine Ascioti; her brother, Walter Rice of Boca Raton, Fla.; his two brothers, Joseph and Dr. Dominick J. Ascioti of DeWitt; his six sisters, Agatha Vilasi, Lucretia Quattrone, Lena Guardino, Frances Quattrone, Fannie Ascioti and Rose Spagnoletti.


Marriage Notes for Evelyn Louise Rice and Olin Royce Mowers

 - Marriage Announcement (Mexico Independent, NY, Thursday, June 12, 1952)
  Miss Evelyn Louise Rice daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rice, became the bride of Mr. Olin Royce Mowers on Saturday the 7th of June at 1 p.m. in the Mexico Baptist Church. Mr. Mowers is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso Mowers, R. D. 2 Parish. The bride was given in marriage by her father Clarence Rice and Rev. David Davis officiated at the double ring ceremony.
  The bride was attired in a gown of satin and chantilly lace. The illusion neckline framed by the border lace which was teired thru the sweeping cathedral train. The head piece was of lace with a circular Imported illusion veil edged with chantilly lace.
  Attendants included: Walter Rice brother of the bride as best men, Miss Ruth Davis of Pulaski, cousin of the groom was maid of honor, Mrs. Joan Cloflire of Sandy Creek cousin of the groom and Miss Esther Rice cousin of the bride were brides maids. Diane Ginn and Michael Ginn cousins of the bride were flower girl and ring bearer. Harvey Rice and George Mowers were the ushers.
  Miss Marion Manning of Parish sang "Because" "With This Ring" and the "Lords Prayer" at the ceremony accompanied by Mrs. David H. Davis.
  Guests were present from Parish, Mexico, Pulaski, Sandy Creek, Oswego, Syracuse, Altmar, Liverpool and Binghamton.
   The bride is a graduate of Altmar-Parish Central School and attended Poweston Business Institute, Syracuse, N. Y. Mrs. Mowers is now employed by the Parish Oil Co., Inc. Mr. Mowers at the present time is with the U. S. Navy.
  Following the ceremony a reception for about 125 friends and relatives was served at the Candlelight Cottage.
  The church was beautifully decorated with yellow and white glads.
   The brides mother wore a grey crepe gown with pink accessories and a corsage of pink roses.
  The grooms mother wore navy with red accessories and a coursage of red roses.

  Mr. and Mrs. Demetrio Ascoti who were married yesterday, will fly tomorrow to Florida and Jamaica for a three-week honeymoon. Judge Christopher Murphy performed the ceremony in New Rochelle.
  The birde is the former Miss Evelyn Louise Mowers, daughter of Mrs. Clarence Rice of Parish, and her husband is the son of Mrs. Catheirne Ascoiti of 2239 Milton Ave., Solvay.
  Mrs. Ascoti wore a street length dress of pink chantilly lace and satin with a matching head piece and a corsage of white orchids.
  The matron of honor, Mrs. Doris Ryan, selected a light blue chiffon dress with matching head piece and a corsage of lavender orchids.
  Best man was William Sceff of New Rochelle.
  The new matron is employed by Spector Genesee Motor Sales Inc. Mr. Ascoti is self employed at Ascoti's Market.
  Mr. and Mrs. Ascoti are spending the week-end at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. The will reside at 162 Hudson St.

  Carl S. Joy of Eugene died May 16 of age-related causes. He was 98. A private memorial service was held.
  He was born Feb 18, 1912, in Charleston, S.C., to Carl Getman Joy and Lillie May Starette. He married Bernice Cenci. She later died. He then married Grace Willms who died in 1994.
  He attended school in Statesville, N.C., and Baltimore. He served in the Navy. He worked in the merchant marines and the civil service, and he worked on the Glen Canyon Dam.
  Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Slifer of Manhattan, Kan., and Brenda Knauer of Eugene; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A daughter, Charlene Joy; a granddaughter, Talon Doane; and a grandson, Sheldon Ward, died previously.
