Clemeth A. Abercrombie
A private memorial service for Clemeth A. Abercrombie, 79, of Lawrence will be held at a later date. Mr. Abercrombie died Friday, July 23, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Alzheimers disease. Clemeth was born January 11, 1925 in Barnard, Kan. The son of Clemeth C. and Etta (Blanding) Abercrombie. Mr. Abercrombie joined the U.S. Army in 1943. He was stationed at Purdue University for one semester and then deployed to Europe with the 407th regiment of the 102nd Infantry Division serving in Belgium, France, Germany and The Netherlands.
He was a graduate of the American Bankers Association School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He was president of Barnard State Bank and Citizens National Bank in Minneapolis Kan. which he later merged with Ottawa County Bank. Abercrombie was very active in civic and community development. He retired in April 1989. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Hot Springs Village and returned to Lawrence in 2000.
Clemeth married Barbarara Meyer on November 2, 1950 in Lincoln, Kan. She survives of the home. Also surviving are two sons, C.R. Abercrombie and his wife Lila, of Wilson, Kan; John Abercrombie and his wife Sue, of Portland, Ore; two grandchildren, Clemeth L. Abercrombie and Callie Abercrombie; and one sister, Ruth Pickrell of Salina, Kan.
The family suggests contributions to the Wilson Community Foundation or to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association Care Fund or Employ Education Fund or the Charity of Donor’s Choice and may be sent in care of Warren McElwain Mortuary.

A private memorial service for Barbara Meyer Abercrombie, 86, Lawrence will be held at a later date. She died April 30, 2016 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
Barbara was born on March 17, 1930 in Lincoln, KS the daughter of Fred and Elsie (Kistler) Meyer.
Barbara married Clemeth A. Abercrombie on November 2, 1950 in Lincoln, KS. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2004.
Upon retirement, she and her husband moved to Hot Springs, AR and returned to Lawrence in 2000.
Survivors include two sons, C.F. Abercrombie, Wilson, KS, and John Abercrombie, Goodyear, Arizona; two grandchildren, Clemeth L. Abercrombie, Calley Vance; one great grandson, Bruce A. Vance. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Callaway and Edna Healy.

Master Sergeant, 340th Bomb Squadron, 97th Bomb Wing, Biggs Air Force Base.
Foster was killed in the crash of U.S. Air Force RB-50G Superfortress #47-154A, five miles southeast of Willows, California.
Thirteen of seventeen crewmembers perished.
The reconnaissance bomber went into a flat spin while on a flight from Biggs Air Force Base near El Paso, Texas. Four crew members parachuted when the aircraft was less than 500 feet from the ground. One did not survive his parachute descent. One crewman survived the plane's impact into a rice field on the O'Brien Farm near Willows, being thrown from the rear gunner's compartment in the tail section.

Robert w. "Bob" Edick, 75, 1100 N. First St., died april 30, 1991, in the Medcenter One-Mandan Hospital. services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at CFirst Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Mark Bayerty officiatiing. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismark, with military graveside rites by VFW Post No. 1326.
Visistation begins at 10 a.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismark.
Bob was born July 28, 1915, aty Deadwood, S.D., the son of Ralph Otto and Juanita (Minerva) Johnston. At the age of 3, his father died and the family moved to Pepican Rapids, Minn., where his mother taught school prior to moving to Bismark in 1923. Bob received his Eagle Scout Rank and started a local radio program called the Lone Scout Tribe of the Ait to reach boys in the Bismark-Mandan area who were unable to participate in Boy Scouts. Bob graduated from Bismark High School in 1932. He attended Jamestown College and then graduated from the University of North Dakota with an industrial engineering degree. while at Jamestown college and UND, Bob played football and was named captail of the all conference football team. He also worked as a lifeguard during his college summers at the Elks pool.
Bob went to work for Provident Life in 1937 and rose through the ranks to become president of the company in 1963 and chairman of the board in 1979. His career was interupted only by a stint with the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. He always considered Provident his extended family. bob married LaVera Massey on Aug. 19, 1963, in detroit Lakes, Minn.
He served as director of the Bismark Chamber of commerce and the Kiwanis Club and was on the executive committee of the American Legion and a member of the VFW club. He was on the board of deacons and the board of trusteed of the First Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the board of directors of the First Bank and the Dakota fire Insurance Co. Bob was a Fellow with Life Office Mwnagement association, an organization of life insurance executives, a member of Phi Delta Theta, a fraternity at UND and on the board of the Missouri Valley Family YMCA and a member of the Elks Club.
Bob is survived by his wife, LaVera, Bismark; one son. Robert Allan, Bismark; three step-daughters and sons-in-law, Shari and Jay Rubinow, Yardley, Pa., Carolyn and Richard Haux, Escondito, Calif., and Beckie Jo, and Dave Waltz, Bismark; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sherly Massey, Mandan; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mildred J. Franck, 98, of Aiken, SC, entered into rest on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at the Pepper Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was predeceased by her husband, John L. Franck; her oldest son, Kenneth E. Franck, and her parents.
She is survived by two sons, John (Jack) L. Franck (Marilyn) and Richard D. Franck (Patricia) Both of Florida; grandson, Eric Franck (Jobe) of Wisconsin; five granddaughters, Michelle Gore (Austin), Paige McEver (Mike), Jill Burns (Jeff) of of Florida, Jaime Sajovic (Scott) of Oregon, and Morgan Kay (Jonathan) of Washington state, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Franck was born in Oshkosh, WI on November 1, 1913 to George and Mabel Edick. Prior to her husband's death, they lived in Louisville, KY, Danville, IN, and Fort Wayne, IN. She moved to Aiken in 1990.
Mrs. Franck had earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of St. Francis, Fort Wayne, IN in 1964, a Master's Degree in Education from Ball State University, Muncie, IN in 1969 and a Master's Degree in English as a Second Language from Ball State University, Muncie, IN in 1983.
She worked as a secretary for the Federal Aviation Administration and taught kindergarten. for many years. She was very active in the Samoyed Club of America. One of her Samoyeds was an American and Canadian Champion.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Millbrook Baptist Church.

William (Bill) Jackson Edick Bill Edick died peacefully in his home on March 8, 2010, at the age of 91. Born in Sausalito, California on November 19, 1918, he was a life long resident of Marin. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-three years, Geraldine. He is survived by his two sons, Jonathan and William Jr. (Jack), and one grandson, Jackson. As a teenager, he worked as a carpenter's assistant and rivet painter during the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. He served in the Pacific Theater during WWII from 1941 to 1945. After the War, he taught Biology at Drake High School, moving to Redwood High School upon its opening, and retired from teaching in 1979. He played the baritone horn in the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District Non-Marching Band from 1960 until just a few years ago. Bill succeeded in his wish to live comfortably and independently in his own home, pledging that the only way he would leave it would be "feet first", which he did. He will be missed by all who knew him. Pursuant to his wishes, no services will be held.

Russell L. Harlacher of Eugene died April 4 of age-related causes. He was 98. No service is planned.
He was born June 11, 1911, in Centralia, Wash., to John and Martha Carson Harlacher. He married Goldie Edick on Sept. 23, 1933, in Grants Pass.
He worked in the lumber industry, as manager of Rogue River Box Company in Grants Pass, then ran a specialty saw at MedCo in Medford until he retired.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Loren of Eugene and David of Stevensville, Mont.; a daughter, Marcia of Eugene; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mildger M. Ristvet
Millie, Muggs Millie, of Puyallup, was born May 9, 1925 in Tipler Wisconsin to Oliver & Lillian (Perry) Edick and died in Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma, Oct. 8, 2005, just 3 weeks after losing her son Timmy W. Ristvet Sr. She was surrounded by her family who so deeply miss her already. Muggs came west with her family from Wisconsin in 1941 at the age of 16 and spent the rest of her life mainly in the Tacoma & Puyallup area. At 17 she met the man she was to spend the rest of her life with, William (Bill) W. Ristvet, and they werw married Feb. 245, 1944. the had celebrated neraly 61 years together when Daddy diedin November 2004. Mama never seemed the same after that. She will be fondly remembered for her stories of the "good ole dauy", her love of crafts, especially crocheting, and while yet able to, cooking & baking yummies for her family & friends. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, husband Bill, son Tim, Sept. 16, 2005 and her son-in-law Bruce Booth, Mar. 1974. She is survived by children: Bobby Jo (Gene) Valiere, Willia (Chudk) Martin, Bill (life partner Sandy) Ristvet, and Jeff Ristvet; grandchildren Carol (Jeff) Harris, Darren (Jenny) Booth, Dorothy (fiance Earl) Ristvet, & Timmy (fiance Deanna) Ristvet, Jr.; and the joy of her life great-grandson Jordan Ristvet. Also mourning the loss of Muggs and sister Juanita Silvernail, brothers Merton (Virginia) Edick & Jim (Nancy) Edick, along with special friends from the Puyallup Eagles, numerous neices & nephews & special family friend Clay Roe. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the nurses & doctors who cared for her at Alliance Hospital and to all the friends & family for the wonderful support given during the loss of our brother & mother. Graveside services wil be in Centralia, WA at Mr. View Cemetery, 1113 Caveness Dr. on Wed., Oct. 26 at 1p.m. She will be buried next to her parents. By her wishes, the ashes of her brother Alton Edick, her husband & son Tim will be buried with her.
