VERNON -- R. Jack Peal, age 88, formerly of Cooper Street passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, Jan. 11, 2011 in the Oneida Extended Care Facility.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1922 in Oneida, N.Y., the son of the late Phillip and Arlene (Butler) Peal and was a graduate of Rome Free Academy.
Jack proudly served with the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II in the Asiatic Pacific area from 1942-1945.
On Feb. 29, 1952 Jack and Betty Jane 'BJ' Bellinger were united in marriage and shared that union until Betty Jane's death on July 6, 2002.
Prior to his retirement Jack was employed with Thomas McMahon Wholesale Grocery as a salesman and was employed in the pari-mutuel department at Vernon Downs.
Jack's memberships included the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church of Vernon and the William Russell American Legion Post 404 of Vernon where he served as a past commander.
Surviving are one son, Scott Peal of Syracuse; three daughters and their spouses, Robin Peal and Karl Tyminski of Manchester, Mo., Trina Todd of Vernon, Lee and Patrick Lee of Wentzville, Mo.; six grandchildren, Quinn and Talan Peal-Tyminski, Matthew Todd and fiancee, Brittany Marley, Morgan Todd, Amanda and Rachel Lee; as well as two nieces, Penny and Sue Bellinger.
In keeping with Jack's wishes there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held in the spring at a time to be announced as will spring burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home, 23 Front St., Vernon, N.Y. In memory of Jack donations may be sent to the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church, 5204 W. Seneca St., Vernon, N.Y., 13476.

VERNON — In a ceremony, marked by simplicity, at the Park Methodist Church, Vernon Center, at 1:30 Friday, Miss Betty Jane Bellinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. William Bellinger, Cooper St., became the bride of Reynolds Jack Peal, son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Peal, this village, formerly of Rome.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Lester J. Start, pastor, and chairman of the Department of Philosophy, Utica College, Syracuse University.
The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Bellinger, brother and sister-in-law of the bride.
The bride wore a navy blue suit with matching hat of straw, white accessories and a corsage of Spring flowers. Her only ornament was a pearl choker. The matron of honor was similarly gowned.
Following the ceremony, a dinner was served for the bride and groom and immediate members of their families at Hart's Hill Inn, and later the couple left on a wedding trip to New York City. After March 7, they will be at home to their friends at No. 3 North Sconondoa St., this village.
The bride was graduated from the Vernon High School and received her B. A. degree from Utica College, Syracuse University, and has been a teacher in the Interlaken Central School.
The bridegroom is a graduate of the Rome Free Academy and a veteran of World War II, serving four years overseas with the U. S. Marine Corps. He is employed as salesman by the Mohawk Valley Wholesale Grocers.
The bride was entertained at a personal shower by Mrs. Walter Stauffer and Mrs. Kenneth Patrick; a miscellaneous shower by Mrs. Charles W. Kitson, Mrs Leon J. Butler and Mrs. H. Eugene Butler, and at a dinner given by Mrs. Robert W. Bellinger.

The Rev. Myron A. Bellinger Jr., formerly of Whitesboro, is the new pastor of Moravia Presbyterian Church, New Castle, Pa., following his ordination at that place Thursday.
The ordination sermon was delivered by the Rev. Herbert Baird, pastor of the Whitesboro Presbyterian Church, where Mr. Bellinger had been a member.
During his seminary training, Mr. Bellinger was supply pastor at Inlet, Vernon and Vernon Center Presbyterian Churches. He is a graduate of Whitesboro Central School and the College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio. He also graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary and Temple University Seminary. For the past two years he has been assistant pastor and director of youth education at Paoli Presbyterian Church, Paoli, Pa.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Myron A. Bellinger, Whitesboro and is married to the former Miss Dorothy Hartman of Philadelphia. They have one son.
Relatives from Utica and Ver- non attended the ordination and installation st vices and the reception which followed.

NORTH SPRINGFIELD - James Oliver Losee, 87, died Jan. 28, 2011, at Springfield Hospital.
He was born Oct. 22, 1923, in Springfield, the son of Leander and Orilla (Hedges) Losee.
He graduated from Springfield High School in 1942 and from the Industrial Course Carpentry Program as a co-op working for B.K. Barlow and E.R. Wiggins contractors. In high school, he was a member of the mixed chorus, sang in the boy's octet and attended the Vermont State Music Festival in his senior year, when he also worked as a clerk for John T. Slack Corp. in the machine repair department and as clerk of the works for Harty-Blaney Construction Co.
Mr. Losee married Viola M. Turner June 18, 1949, in North Springfield.
He was employed as machinist at Enterprise Machine in Walpole, N.H., Craigue Machine in Alstead, N.H., Fellows Gear Shaper in Springfield for 10 years and as a machinist and carpenter for Bryant Grinder Corp. in Springfield for 32 years, retiring in 1989. He also worked part time for Young's Furniture Store, and later for Springfield School District for several years.
He was a member of Advent Christian Church in North Springfield, where he served as Sunday school teacher, deacon, trustee, soloist and choir member, and the Mount Ascutney Chapter of the Society and Preservation of Barbershop Quartet Singers of America.
Survivors include his wife of North Springfield; two sons, Peter of North Springfield and Thomas of Chester; three daughters, Sharon Dexter, Laurel White, both of Griswold, Conn., and Teresa Sandeski of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada; a brother, John of Springfield; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Losee was predeceased by a son, Lee, in 2001; a brother, Kenneth, in 1977; two sisters, Betty Bradley in 2006 and Laura Duffy in 2007.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at Advent Christian Church in North Springfield. The Rev. Floyd McIntyre, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be at a later date in Oakland Cemetery.

NORTH SPRINGFIELD - Viola M. Losee, 81, died July 10, 2012, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
She was born May 30, 1931, in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of Harold Turner and Hattie Snell, and attended Springfield area schools.
She married James O. Losee June 18, 1949, in North Springfield. Mr. Losee died in 2011.
Mrs. Losee was employed as a practical nurse at the Hanson Court and Taylor nursing homes and later did private duty nursing in the area for many years.
She served as Sunday school teacher, deaconess and youth group leader for Advent Christian Church in North Springfield.
She enjoyed crafts, puzzles, knitting, crocheting and sewing, making several wedding dresses.
Survivors include five children, Peter Losee of North Springfield, Thomas Losee of Chester, Sharon Dexter, Laurel White, both of Griswold, Conn., and Teresa Sandeski of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada; a brother, Harold Turner of North Springfield; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Losee was also predeceased by a son, Lee Losee, in 2001, a grandson and a great-grandson.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 13, at Advent Christian Church in North Springfield.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at the church with the Rev. Floyd McIntyre, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Springfield.

SPRINGFIELD - M. Elizabeth "Betty" Bradley, 80, died Dec. 28, 2006, at Cedar Hill Health Care Center in Windsor.
She was born March 5, 1926, in Springfield, the daughter of Leander and Orilla (Hedges) Losee.
She was a 1944 graduate of Springfield High School.
She married Robert Bradley on March 12, 1949 in Springfield, He died in 1973.
Mrs. Bradley worked as assistant manager of marketing services at Jones & Lamson Machine Tool Company in Springfield for more than 40 years, and later for Vermont Precision Products for more than five years, retiring in 1992.
She was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, held local and state offices for the Robert L. Johnson Post 771 in Springfield, and was a member of the Crown Point Country Club.
Survivors include a stepson, Michael Bradley of Poultney; two brothers, James Losee of North Springfield and John Losee of Springfield, a sister, Laura Duffy of North Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Losee in 1977.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
The Rev. William Nelson, pastor of First Congregational Church in Sparingfield, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Springfield.

SPRINGFIELD - Eugene Norman Duffy, 97, passed away on Thursday morning at the Mount Ascutneuy Health Care Center in Windsor.
He was born Feb. 2, 1917 in Saxonville, Mass., the son of James P and Mildred B. (Norman) Duffy. His childhood was spent in Lebanon, N.H. He attended Lebanon Schools and graduated from Lebanon High School, class of 1935, being very activew in sports during school.
He attended Clark School in Hanover, N.H., graduating in 1936. He then attended UNH graduating class of 1941 with a bachelor's dregree in accounting. He was also a member of UNH Ski team and a ski jumper while attending.
On Sept. 11, 1965 he married Laura M Losee in Springfield. She predeceased him on Sept. 14, 2007.
He was employed as a cost accouting manager with Fellows Gear Shaper in Springfield for 40 years, retiring in 1982. while in high school and college Mr. Duffy worked for the state of New Hampshire doing road surveys.
Mr. Duffy was one of the original founders of the Crown Point Country Club in 1953, and he served two terms as director and served on many committees.
He served as treasurer for the Springfield Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of First Congregational Church, a member of the Hitotrmis Club, a 50-year membe rof the Franklin Lodge #6 F.&.A.M. in Lebanon, N.H., a member of the Skitchewaug Chjapter # 25 in Springfield. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, skiing, gardening, reading and sports.
He is survived by one son Kenneth Norman Duffy, of Weathersfield; and by serveral nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, Raymond, and by his wife Laura.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield. The Rev. Gerry Piper will officiate. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Lebanon, N.H.
