Hospital authorities said the infection developed as the boy failed to respond to medication during hospitalization for some 10 days after complaining of abdominal pains.
Surgery to repair the rupture was performed but failed to save the youngester. A consulting pathologist from Kentucky determined the cause of death.
The rupture could have resulted from a blow to the stomach...unable to determine if this was the case. The mother said the boy had suffered some minor injuries in a collision with another youth while ice skating at his school in Mayland....
