  The bride graduated from Johnstown high school and is employed as a secretary at the Treadway inn. The bridegroom, a graduate of Gloversville high school, is employed at the Grandoe Glove Company. Following a wedding trip through the New England states, the couple will reside at 13 Eagle street, Gloversville,

  Joseph J. Alter, 63, of 38 Thompson Avenue, died at 5 this morning at Littauer Hospital where he had been a patient one month. He had been in ill health the past two years.
  He was born March 24, 1904, in Fultonville and had resided in Gloversville 53 years. A salesman by trade, he had sold Christian literature for various concerns. He was a member of the Universalist Church of the Messiah of Fort Plain.
  Mr. Alter is survived by his wife, the former Catherine Rouse; one daughter, Mrs. Merril Mironer of Flushing, L.I.; one grandson and several nieces and nephews.

  Herman W. Brown, 63, formerly of Nelliston, died Saturday at his home in Selkirk following a long illness.
  He was bom Sept 15, 1918, in Cherry Valley, the son of Theodore and Frances Yerdon Brown. He was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, class of 1938, and a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Colonie VFW Post.
   Mr. Brown will be remembered by his area friends as an athlete playing on school baseball and basketball teams and later with the Fort Plain Baseball Club.
  He was employed by Exxon for 40 years retiring in 1978.
  Mr. Brown is survived by his widow, the former Lenora Kneeskern, a daughter, Mrs. Frances Hoffman, Ravena; a brother, Clayton Brown, Nelliston and two grandsons, Kevin and David Hoffman, Ravena.
  Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family Monday at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena, with the Rev. Joseph Ingraham, pastor of the Ravena United Methodist Church, officiating.
  Interment was made in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Ravena.

  Her attendant wore a black crepe dress with matching accessories and a corsage of pink roses.
   The ceremony was attended by the immediate families and friends of the couple.
  After a motor trip Mr. and Mrs. Brown will make then home with the bride's parents.
  Personal gifts were presented to the attendants by the bride and bridegroom
  After attending Fort Plain High School the bride has been employed at Green's Hotel, in Stone Arabia. Mr. Brown is a graduate from the same school and is employed at V. S. Bander Sons of Fort Plain.

  After a short wedding trip the couple will reside at 20 Burr street. The bride is employed at the Commodore Glove Co., and the bridegroom by G. Levor & Co.

  Clifton Saltsman, 57, of St. Johnsville RD 2, Ephratah, died unexpectedly about 6 this morning at the family home at Ephratah.
  He was born Nov. 29, 1911, at the home, the son of Reuben and Emma Vosburgh Saltsman. He and his brother, the late Stanton Saltsman, who died earlier this year, had operated the farm all their lives.
  Mr. Saltsman was a member of the Ephratah Reformed Church, the Ephratah volunteer fire department and the Rod and Gun Club of Ephratah.
  Survivors are hi wife, the former Miss Margaret Polmateer, one daughter, Mrs. Karen Trumble of St. Johnsville RD 2; two sisters, Mrs. Leonard Rickard and Mrs. Leland Christman, both of Fort Plain RD 2; five grandchildren, several neices nephews and cousins.

  Aa Ephratah young man, who entered service with a draft group from District 389 (Johnstown and the towns) has been awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded during the invasion of the Philippines.
  He is T/5 Leonard B. Polmateer, aged 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Polmateer of that village, ten miles west of town.
  He was wounded January 18 of this year, during the landing on Leyte. but has practically recovered, he said in a letter received Wednesday. He ia sending the award to his parents.
  Polmateer also took part in the Easter Sunday invasion on Okinawa in the Ryuku Islands and is still stationed there with the 718th Amphibious Tractor Battalion.
  He entered service in January, 1943, received his training at Fort Knox and Camp Campbell, Kentucky, also at Fort Ord, Cal.,  then started overseas in September of last year.

  EPHRATAH - Miss Agatha Avery, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Avery, Fort Plain, and Leonard Palmateer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Palmateer, R D. 1, St. Johnsville, were married Saturday morning at 11 in the Ephratah Methodist church by the Rev. Harry Pettengill, who performed the double ring ceremony.
  Traditional wedding music was played by Mrs. Irene Andrews, church organist.
  The bride wore a gown of white summer satin. The bodice was made with a lace neckline, finger tip sleeves and a long train. Her fingertip veil was caught up with a beaded tiara. She carried a bouquet of white pom pons and white prayer book with streamers.
  Mrs. Walter Masi sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. She wore a pink satin gown with gathered front and net neckline, pink satin mitts with pink headdress. She carried a bouquet of pink pom pons.
  Mayland Christman was the best man.
  The bride's mother wore an aqua dress with corsage of red roses. The bridegrooms mother wore a blue dress with corsage of
roses.
  A wedding dinner was served at the home of the bridegroom's parents. Later the young couple left  on a motor trip to Washington, D. C. and on their return will reside with his parents.
   The bride attended the Fort Plain High school and is employed in Swear's in Johnstown The bridegroom was graduated from the Johnstown High School, and served three years in the armed forces in the Pacific area. He is now employed at Lee's Paint Shop, Ephratah
  There were guests present from Fort Plain, St. Johnsville and Johnstown.

  FORT PLAIN - Miss Karen Lynn Van Patten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Van Patten, Fort Plain
RD 2, and Allan James Polmateer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Polmateer, Fort Plain RD 2, were united in marriage at the Fort Plain Reformed Church Saturday afternoon, May 24. The Rev. Robert Hess, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony.
  The church was decorated with vases of white gladioli and pompons. Mrs. Vernon Hinkle, Fonda, organist, played "Somewhere My Love", "I,ove Story", "A Time For Us", and "Forever and Ever". She accompanied William Lamphere who sang "The Lord's Prayer", "How Great Thou Art", "Sunrise-Sunset", and "Every Day of My Life".
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a full length gown of white satan de peau draped over taffeta. The fitted bodice with pin tucks was designed with Venise lace appliques, the highrise neckline with a wedding ring collar of scalloped Venise lace on pleated ruffles. The long puffed sleeves with lace appliques ended with deep cuffs and ruffles. Her A-line skirt with soft folds and deep ruffle edged with lace terminated in a cathedral length train. Her Camelot headpiece held a bouffant fingertip mantilla with matching lace and she carried a Victorian bouquet of white roses with baby's breath and streamers.
   Mrs. Linda Oare, Fort Plain, was matron of honor for her sister. Her full length orchid organza gown over taffeta was fashioned with a fitted bodice, a mini-yoke edged with ruffles and Venise lace, and long puffed sleeves. The controlled skirt featured a deep ruffle on the hemline. She wore a white picture hat and carried a single rose tipped in apricot.
  Miss Lisa Van Patten, the bride's sister, the junior bridesmaid, wore a floor length white nylon gown over taffeta similar to the attendants with a miniature white hat and carried a single white rose. Miss Lynette Oare and Miss Melinda Van Patten, nieces of the bride, the flower girls, wore long white gowns with small pink flowers, and picture hats. They carried small pink sweetheart roses with streamers.
  Stephen Ferjanec, St. Johnsville, cousin of the bridegroom, served as his best man. The ushers were Carl Van Patten, brother of the bride, Paul Oare, her brother-in-law, Fort Plain, David Mrazz, Johnstown, Bruce Farquhar, St. Johnsviile, friends of the bridegroom. Junior ushers were Timothy Van Patten, the bride's brother and Chris Thomas, Fort Plain, cousin of the bridegroom. The ring bearers were Carl J. Van Patten, Jr., and Thomas Oare, nephews of the bride.
  The mother of the bride chose a full-length blue polyester gown with rhinestone studded fagoting outlining the standup collar. Her corsage was pink roses. The bridegroom's mother was attired in a full-length apricot chiffon gown over taffeta with rhinestone beaded bodice designed with a v-neckline with a corsage of yellow roses.
  A reception for 200 guests at the Harry C. Smith Benefit Club, St. Johnsville, with music by the Black Velvets, followed the ceremony.
  For their wedding trip to Virginia Beach, the bride wore a three-piece red, white, and blue outfit with red accessories, and a corsage of red carnations centered with a white rose. Mr. and Mrs. Polmateer will reside at St. Johnsville RD 1.
  The attendants were presented gifts at the rehearsal party at the home of the bridegroom's parents.
  The bride was honored at the Salem United Methodist Church, East Stone Arabia, April 19 with her attendants as hostesses; April 20 at the home of her aunts, Mrs. Paul Ricken, Mrs. Curtis Nellis and Mrs. Deline Van Patten, hostesses; April 27 at the Polmateer home with the bridegroom's sisters. Misses Lome and Debbie Polmateer as hostesses.
  The bride ia a 1973 graduate of Fort Plain Central School. The bridegroom, a 1969 graduate of Johnstown High School, is employed as a supervisor at Baker-Beech-Nut.

Elmendorf of Keck Center, was united in marriage to Christopher Parillo of 27 South Melcher Street, son of Mrs. Peter H. Wilson of 26 East Main Street and Christopher A. Parillo of Amsterdam, at a ceremony at 11 Saturday morning at St. Patrick's Church.
  Rev. William J. Becker, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony. Eugene Zilka of Gloversville, organist, played selected wedding music. Miss Katherine Wilson of Johnstown, aunt of the bridegroom, sang "One Hand, One Heart." Howard Boehmer of Johnstown sang "The Lord's Prayer."
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white silk organza over taffeta fashioned with pleated ruffling at the high neckline, Alencon lace appliques on the pin-tucked bodice and matching lace on the deep cuffs of the long, puffed sleeves. The soft A-line skirt and its cathedral-length train were finished with deep ruffling at the hemline.
  The bride's double, bouffant mantilla of illusion, worn from a Camelot headpiece, was edged with lace. She carried a bouquet of white sweetheart roses and daisies amid baby's breath.
  Mrs. Valerie Oare of Johnstown was matron of honor in her cousin's wedding in an orchid chiffon gown and matching bow and veil headpiece.
  Miss Cheryl Eacker, sister of the bride, and Miss Beth Morgan, stepsister of the bride, both of Johnstown, were bridesmaids in blue print organza gowns and matching floral headpieces.
  The attendants carried Colonial arrangements of daisies.
  Wayne Parillo of Johnstown, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were James Eacker, brother of the birde, and Jerry Parillo, another brother of the bridegroom, both of Johnstown. Peter Wilson II, stepbrother of the bridegroom, was ringbearer.
  The mother of the bride wore a green chiffon gown over taffeta. The mother of the bridegroom wore a yellow polyester crepe gown with a sheer floral bodice. Both wore rose corsages.
  After the ceremony a reception for 250 was held at the Rainbow Restaurant with guests attending from Johnstown, Gloversville, Broadalbin, Amsterdam, Rochester, Utica, Schenectady, Miami, Fla., Chesapeake, Va. and Ohio.
   After a trip to Lake George and Maine, the couple will reside at 27 South Melcher Street.
  Attendants were presented gifts at a rehearsal dinner Friday night at the Rainbow Restaurant.
  The bride was honored at a previous shower at her home given by her bridesmaids and at another at Butch's Drum, Amsterdam RD, given by her stepmother.
  Both the bride and bridegroom are graduates of Johnstown High School. The bride is employed by the Pyramid Mall
