 - Newspaper Article (The Leader-Heald, Gloverville - Johnstown, NY, Saturday, June 10, 1972)
  Robert H. Stone, 59, who resided off Jackson Summit Road where he was found dead by a friend Thursday, died of natural causes, officials said today.
  In an autopsy performed yesterday at Littauer Hospital laboratory, it was found that death resulted from an acute coronary thrombosis.
  A friend who had not seen Mr. Stone for a few days went into the wooded area in the Town of Mayfield and found his body in the yard of his home. He was pronounced dead by Dr. Philip Horenstein of Mayfield, Fulton County coroner's physician.
  Senior BCI Investigator R. C. Beckwith of the Fonda State Police and Trooper R. A. Hoagboon of the Mayfield substation conducted an investigation.
  Mr, Stone is survived by sons in the Troy area.

  John L. Pugh IHS '33, 92, a long-time resident of South Fifth Avenue, passed away at home Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007. John was born Dec. 7, 1914, in the town of Frankfort, son of the late John and Edith (Lindsay) Pugh. He was a graduate of Ilion HighSchool, where he played on championship football teams under coach Joe Bemis. Following high school, John graduated from Oswego State College in 1940 with a bachelor of science in education degree in Industrial arts. He then taught industrial arts at Katonah John Jay High School in Westchester County.
  On June 28, 1941, he was united in marriage to Lois Clair at the Church of Annunciation. They were married for 50 years until Mrs. Pugh's passing in 1991. John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II, serving in the Pacific islands. He was employed by Rockwell International for 31 years as regional sales director for the Northeast U.S. Following his retirement, John taught woodworking/refinishing for adult education. He was well known throughout the valley for master woodworking, cabinet-making and antique restoration. He was of the Catholic faith and a former member of the Ilion Knights of Columbus. John was a current member of the Oswego Alumni Association. He enjoyed the Adirondacks and the family camp in Old Forge.
  Survivors include his daughter, Linda (Pugh) Whittemore of Ilion; sister-in-law Betty (Torbitt) Pugh of Florida; aunt, Ruth Lindsay of Old Forge; two nephews, John and Richard Pugh of Vermont; a niece, Alicia (Pugh) Bussing of Vermont; several cousins, friends and past business associates; also friends from the morning "coffee" group. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert of Frankfort/Florida, and Richard of Vermont, his niece, Phyllis Pugh and brother-in-law Curtis Clair.
  Family and friends are invited to a graveside committal service Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. at the Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion, with Father Anthony Barratt of the Church of Annunciation officiating.
  In keeping with John's wishes there are no calling hours. A very special thank you to Linda Evans and Marcia Mower, his home health care aides, for their quality care and concern for John which allowed him to enjoy living in his home over the past several years. Also to Dr. William Parker and his wife, Jo and staff for their care and willingness to accommodate John's needs.

  FRANKFORT - Robert W. Pugh. of 8600 W.US. Rt. 1, Lot 93, of Sebastian, Fla. formerly of Frankfort, passed away June 12, 1983 in Florida.
  He was born November 9, 1917 in Frankfort. He was the son of John and Edith Lindsey Pugh. He was married to Betty Torbitt November 28, 1941. He was educated in Ilion schools and retired as a supervisor at Remington Arms. He was also a member of the Remington Arms 25 Year Club.
  He is survived by his wife and mother, two brothers, John, of Ilion, and Richard of Vt; several nieces and nephews
  Services will be held from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 11
am Friday. Interment will be in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 Thursday.


Betty Jean Torbitt

  Betty Torbitt Pugh, 90, formerly of Frankfort, passed away on June 7, 2011, in Melbourne, FL.
   In 1942, she married Robert Pugh of Ilion. They move to Richland, WA, during WW II, where Robert was employed by Dupont and where their daughter, Phyllis, was born.
  When the couple relocated back to Frankfort, Betty became a member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Ilion and was later employed by MDS. Upon retirement, she and her husband moved to Florida to enjoy travel and activities in the south.
  Betty was predeceased by her daughter, Phyllis, in 1967, and her husband, Robert, in 1983; also by her sister, Thelma Torbitt, and brother, Robert Torbitt; nephews, Mac and Kim Torbitt; and brothers-in-law, John L. Pugh and Richard F. Pugh.
  Surviving are her sister-in-law, Shirley Torbitt; nieces, Kelly Miller, Linda Whittemore and Alicia Bussing; nephews, Todd Torbitt, and John and Richard Pugh; and long-time friends, Harriet Limpert, Mabel Robinson and Carol Raymond, as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
  A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 2, at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort. Fr. John Bassett will officiate.
Arrangements are by the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St., in Ilion.

Alfred Victor Little

  Alfred Victor Little, 67, of 133 Seward Ave., a movie projectionist in various local theaters died yesterday in St. Elizabeth Hospital. Dr. Gerald C. Grant, coroner, said death was due to natural causes.
  He was born in North Ferrisburg, Vermont, son of Peter and Josephine Davieau Little (Petie). He attended schools in Vermont and lived there until 1933 when he moved to Poughkeepsie. He moved to Utica in 1957 and had since lived here. He was a movie projectionist for many local cinemas and was laterly employed by the Paris Cinema, Mr. Little married Elberta Tanner in Utica in 1965.
  He was a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees and Moving Picture Operators of the U.S. and Canada.
 Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Mrs Roger (Barbara) Foote of Orlando Fla. a step-daughter Miss Bonnie Wyckpff of Utica, a stepson, Lindsay Wycoff of Utica and a sister, Mrs. Clinton (Ella) McCormick of Burlington, Vt.
  Ther will be a private funeral service at the Matt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland.

  Miss Elberta Tanner and Earl F. Bohling attended the couple. The ushers were LeRoy and Jerry Potter.
  The bride was attired in a powder blue gabardine suit trimmed with pink, a navy blue hat and a corsage of gardenias.
  Harold Tanner, Mohawk, the bridegrooms uncle, played the wedding music.
  After a reception in the bride's home, the couple left for a trip to New York.
  Mr. and Mrs. Tanner will live at 904 Springate.
  Pre-nuptual parties were given by the maid of honor, Miss Tanner, Mrs. Earl Bohling, and Mrs. Joseph Albeker.

  Honor attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Grregory Timm of Raquette Lake.
  Following a receptioin in the home of the bride's parents, the couple left on a trip to New England.
  The new matron is employed by the New York Telephone Co. The bridegroom was graduated from
Wagner College, Staten Island, and is employed by the House of the Good Shepherd.
  The couple will reside in Utica.
