  Mrs. Michael Rizzo, 27, 1713 Bleeker, Died May 13, 1943 in St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
  She was born in Dolgeville, Aug. -- 1915, daughter of John and Jennie Bloodough. She married Mr. Rizzo Oct. 6, 1934, and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
  Mrs. Rizzo is survived by her parents, her husband and a daughter, Jean Marie, Utica, and a brother, Lt. Kenneth Bloodough, Army.
  The funeral will be at 9 a. m. Monday from the Scala & Cavallo Funeral Home and at 9:30 from St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

  Kenneth E. Bloodough, 43, Dolgeville building contractor, died yesterday morning in the Little Falls hospital, after a long illness. Mr. Bloodough was born Feb. 20, 1919 in Dolgeville, son of Jennie Pentland Bloodough and the late John Bloodough. He was married to Gertrude Doxstader of Dolgeville on March 12, 1942.
  During World War II he served as a major in the Air Force Engineering Corps. He was a member of the Inghams Mills Church, Dolgeville Masonic Lodge, the Herman Schumacker Post of the American Legion, and a member of the Dolgeville School board.
   His wife survives, with one daughter, Andrea, and one son, Kenneth, both at home; his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. John Avery, Dolgeville; one niece and one grandniece.

  Mohawk: Donald J. Varin, Sr., 81, of Mohawk, passed away peacefully, September 4, 2012 at his residence.
  Don was born on January 23, 1931, in Ilion, the son of the late Adolph and Sara Elthorpe Varin, and was educated in Mt. Markham and Mohawk schools. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On July 3, 1954, Don was united in marriage to the Former Frances LaPuma in St. Mary’s Church, Frankfort. Mrs. Varin passed away January 29, 1995.
   Prior to his retirement, Don was employed with Jefferson-Smurfitt Corporation, New Hartford.
   Don is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Paul Lowell of Mohawk; his loving son, Donald J. Varin, Jr. of Mohawk; his beloved grandchildren, Paula and Kenny Anna, Erik and Kelly Lowell, Andrew Varin, Christian Varin and Sarah Varin Boisen; his sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Kenny Rood, Sr. of Ilion; his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Winnifred Varin of Ilon; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank and Marie LaPuma of Frankfort, Annabell and Peter McKevitt of Frankfort and Martha Cobb of Frankfort and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Varin and his sisters, Marion Barnes, Lena Rockwell, Jenny Farber and Millie Everson.
   His funeral will commence at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2012 from the chapel of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion with the Rev. Dr. Andrew Peloubet, officiating. Interment will following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife with full military honors.
   Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the Enea Family Funeral Home.

  Joseph A. Varin, 70, of Sanborn, N.Y., formerly of Ilion and Mohawk, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at his residence under the loving care of his family and Niagara Hospice.
  Joseph was born on Jan. 28, 1936, in Ilion, N.Y., the son of Adolph and Sarah (Elthorp) Varin. He attended local elementary and junior high school prior to moving to Mohawk, N.Y., He attended Ilion schools, prior to moving to Mohawk, where he went to Mohawk Central School, graduating in 1954. Joe entered the U.S. Army in August of 1954. He took basic and advanced individual training at Fort Dix, N.J. He was then assigned to Fort Campbell, Ky., and the 503rd Airborne Infantry Regiment, where he attended the Airborne School and earned his Parachutist Wings. His unit was rotated to Germany, where he was separated from the service at the end of his enlistment. Joe spent two months back home and decided to re-up and pursue a military career. From 1957 to 1960 he served with the 4th Regiment Combat Team and the 60th Infantry at Fort Devens, Mass.; 1960-1961 Joe was assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Ga.; 1961-1962 he served in Korea with the 32nd Infantry; 1962-1966 he was assigned to the ROTC Instructional Group at Niagara University as a Senior Drill Instructor; 1966-1967 he served in Vietnam with the 416th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division; 1967-1970 he returned to Niagara University as an ROTC Instructor; 1970-1971 he returned to Vietnam and was assigned to the MACV as an advisor; 1971-1973 he was assigned as an advisor to the Army reserve in Niagara Falls, N.Y.; 1973-1975 Joe was reassigned to the U.S. Army ROTC Instructional Group at Niagara University as the Operations and Training NCO. Joe retired on July 1, 1975, with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was awarded a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal with six awards, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Unit Citation, Combat Infantry badge, Parachutist Wings and the N.Y. State Conspicuous Service Award. During his last three years in the military, Joe had a part time job working at the NCO/Officer Club at the Niagara Falls AFB for the 914th. Upon his retirement his job was converted to a full-time position. While working full time nights, Joe attended Niagara County Community College and in 1977 received an A.A.S. in Business Administration. He then went to Erie County Community College and earned his A.A.S. in Food Service Administration in 1979. In 1990 Joe was promoted to Club manager, a position he held until his retirement in April of 1999. Joe was a member of the LaSalle Sportsman Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, V.F.W. Post No. 917, and American Legion Post No. 1524. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, and golfing with his many friends.
  On March 8, 1958, Joe married Lois (Miller) Varin of Cedarville, N.Y. Lois predeceased him on Dec. 21, 1987. He is survived by three daughters, Zoe (David) Miller of Killeen, Texas; Marilyn (Edgar) Morgan of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; and Brenda L. (George) LeBrun of Wilson, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Tanya Miller of Killeen, Texas; five grandsons, David Miller Jr. of Killeen, Texas; Jacob Beghtol and E.J. Moran of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; "Lil" George and Steven LeBrun of Wilson, N.Y.; a great-grandson, Ethan Miller; two brothers, Charles (Winnie) Varin of Ilion, N.Y. and Donald Varin of Mohawk, N.Y.; two sisters, Esther (Kenneth) Rood and Mildred (George) Everson, both of Ilion, N.Y.; an aunt, Alice (Milton) Palmer of West Winfield, N.Y. and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph A. Varin Jr., three sisters, Lena Rockwell, Marion Barnes and Jennie Farber, and his parents.
  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with the Rev. Robert Wollaber, pastor of the Ilion United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls, with full military honors.
  Calling hours are Friday, Aug. 11, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. The Mohawk American Legion Post No. 25 will conduct a ritual service on Friday at 3:30 p.m.

  She was born on December 19,1941, in Utica, the daughter of Ernest and Agnes Maydole Miller. On March 8, 1958, she was married to Joseph Varin, in Ilion.
  Survivors include her husband, Joseph; her mother, Agnes Miller, of Utica; three daughters, Zoe Miller, of Fort Benning, GA, Marilyn Beghtol, of Niagara Falls and Brenda Varin, of Ransomville; one son, Joseph Varin. Jr., of Ransomville; three sisters. Marlene Papaleo, of Utica, Rosemary Eisenhut, of Deansboro, and Rosalie Seelbach, of Frankfort; five brothers, Ernest Miller, Jr., of Cedarville, Gary Miller, of Frankfort, Andrew and Gregory Miller, both of Ilion, and Robert Miller, of Utica; three grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

  She was born Aug. 14, 1958, in Ilion.
  Besides her parents, she leaves a brother, Jeffrey; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Varin, Ilion; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Lynne Farber, of Gray; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
  The funeral will be at 3 tomorrow from the Autenrith Funeral Home here with the Rev. Nelson Reppert pastor of the Newport Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Gray.

  Jeffrey was born June 18, 1957 in Ilion, the son of Herbert and Genevieve Varin Farber. He was a graduate of West Canada Valley High School and was employed by Country Carriage Auto Body, Poland, NY. Jeffrey was of the Methodist Faith.
  Survivors besides his parents of Newport include his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Varin of Ilion; three sisters. Mrs Edward (Tammy) Congdon. Jr. of East Herkimer and Kimberly and Kelly, both at home; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

  Millie was a full time housewife and loving mother raising not only her own children but being a mother too many other children throughout her life.Millie is survived by her children; George and Lori Everson of Norway, Pamela and Thomas Maine of Ilion, Dawn and George Moshier of Mohawk, Roberta and Daniel Goldberg of Dolgeville, Tina Mroz and George Eldred of Mohawk, Shirley Thomes of Mohawk, Nancy Storms and Stephen Walters of Ilion, her adopted sons Charles Steele of Mohawk, and Michael Brinkerhoff of Ilion, brothers Charles and Winnie Varin of Ilion and Donald Varin of Mohawk, a sister Esther and Kenneth Rood , Ilion, a god daughter Dale Richer of Mohawk.   John C. Sorenson, 87, of 80 E. North St., in Ilion, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014, at Valley Health Services in Herkimer.
  John was born on January 11, 1927, in E. Frankfort; he was the son of the late Martin J. and Adeline (Elthorp) Sorenson. He was a graduate of Ilion schools and worked as a production control supervisor at UNIVAC for 28 years, and he also worked his family farm. John was a WW II veteran, serving in the US Coast Guard. On September 25, 1948, John married the former Dorothy M. Dye in Edmeston. Dorothy passed away January 16, 2002.
  John is survived by two sons; two daughters; one brother; a sister-in-law; and a close friend. John also leaves his 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert, and granddaughter, Tiffany Marie Sorenson.

  ILION - Robert E. Sorenson. 56, of Box 600 Avery Rd., passed away October 27, 1984 in Mohawk Valley General Hospital.
  He was born April 20, 1928 in Frankfort, son of Martin and Adeline Elthorpe Sorenson. He was married to the former Audrey Slocum, November 9, 1949 in Ilion. He was educated in Ilion schools and was a lineman for the New York Telephone Company, retiring this year. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guards. He was a member of the Ilion Lodge 591 F & AM, the Ilion Moose Lodge 1010, and the Telephone Pioneers.
Mr. Sorenson was a member of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church.
  He is survived by his mother Adeline of Ilion; his wife. Audrey; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Jackie Sorenson of Ilion and Thomas Sorenson of Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Deborah) Eramo of Ilion; two brothers. John of Mohawk and James of Ilion; two grandchildren, Kelly & Michael Eramo.
  Services will be held from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. George B. Greene officiating. Interment in Armory Hill Cemetery. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9.
