EVANS MILLS -- The funeral for Ida Mae Horton, 85, Milltown Housing, 8130 Schell Ave., will be at noon Wednesday at Pleasant Meadows Ministry Church, formerly LeRay Presbyterian Church, Church Street, with the Rev. Adele B. Spencer, Presbyterian minister at large, officiating. Spring burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
Mrs. Horton died Sunday afternoon at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, where she had been admitted earlier that day.
Calling hours are 1 to 9 p.m. today at the hpme of Mrs. Horton's sister, Ella Marie Fults, 8744 N. Main St. Arrangements are with Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa.
Mrs. Horton was a teacher for two years at a rural school in Natural Bridge.
Born April 14, 1914, on the Walrath family farm on Dutch Settlement Road, LeRay, daughter of Joseph L. and Alta Hasner Walrath, she was a 1932 graduate of Evans Mills schools and a graduate of the Dexter Teacgers Training Class.
She married Nikles Horton on July 2, 1936, in Watertown with the Rev. James H. Keeling, Pastor of the Evans Mills Presbyterian Church, officiating. The couple farmed on the Morris tract in Chaumont and moved back to the family farm on Dutch Settlement Road in 1954. Mr. Horton died in June 1979.
Mrs. Horton remained on th famiky farm until moving to Schell Avenue in August 1996.
Surviving are a daughter, Rosamond VanArnum, Watertown; three sons Ralphm Salem, Crl,Philadelphia, and Alan, Theresa; two sisters, Mrs. Fults and Katherine MacFarland, Orlando, Fla., and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A granddaughter died before her.
Donations maybe made to the American Cancer Society, Shared Ministy of Presbyterian Episcopla Church of Evans Mills or Hospice of Jefferson County.

EVANS MILLS -- Niles L. Horton, 75, of Dutch Settlement Road, Evans Mills, died at 11:14 p.m. Friday at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where he had been admitted May 9.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home of his son, Carl Horton, Fort Drum Road, Philadelphia, with Rev. Albert Cameron, pastor, Philadelphia United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
Calling hours will be after 2 p.m. Sunday and all day Monday at the home of Carl Horton.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Mae Horton; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Rosamond) VanArnam, Watertown; three sons, Ralph, Salem, Carl, Philadelphia, and Alan, Theresa; 12 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Born May 19, 1904, in the Town of Clayton, a son of Dempster and Mamie Loehr Horton, he attended Chaumont High School and married Ida Mae Walrath July 2, 1936.
The couple operated a farm at Chaumont several years. In the early 1940's he joined the New York Air Brake, Watertown, and was employed there 23 years.
He moved to the Dutch Settlement Road in 1954 and operated a farm until retiring five years ago.
He was a member of the Chaumont Grange and was a member of the machinists union 25 years.

EVANS MILLS — Mr. and Mrs. Arthur H. Fults, Fults Road, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Sunday with a party given by their families at their home. More than 100 persons attended.
Mr. Fults and Ella Marie Walroth were married Jan. 22, 1950, in atertown. They were attended by Mr. Fults' brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Emory Fults, Jr.
The couple has three children, Lewis, Jack and Sally, at home.
Mr. Fults owns and operates a farm near Evans Mills. Mrs. Fults is a first grade teach at the Evans Mills Elementary School.

Greenough, Whitehall, this noon at St. Mary's Church, Evans Mills, with Rev. John Staslowski and Rev. George Greenough, step-father of the bridegroom, officiating.
The bride will be given in marriage by her father and will wear a gown of satapeau with peau d'ange lace applique and pearl trim, styled with an Empire bodice, a Mandarin collar, lantern sleeves and a detachable chaplel train. A Medieval empress hat will hold her short veil, accented with matching lace, pearls and fur trim. She will carry a white fur muff accented with a corsage of white sweetheart roses.
Mrs. Carol Sharp, Massena, will be matron of honor. Mrs. Leona DiToro, Albany, and Miss Rebecca Mowatt, Whitehall, sister of the bridegroom, will be bridesmaids.
Thomas W. Mowatt, Whitehall, brother of the bridegroom, will be best man. Ushers will be John C. and Charles L. Kiechle of Philadelphia, brothers of the bride.
After a reception at the Philadelphia American Legion, the couple will leave for Canada. For traveling the bride will a red and navy pantsuit with navy accessories.
The bride, a 1967 graduate of Indian River Central School, Philadelphia, was graduated from Plattsburgh State University College in 1971 with a bachelor of science degree in home economics and teaches home economics in the junior and senior high schools of the Whitehall Central School System. She is a former Jefferson County Dairy Princess and County Fair Queen.
Mr. Mowatt, a 1968 graduate of Whitehall Central School, was graduated from Adirondack Community College, Glens Falls, in 1971 and from Castleton State College in 1974. An English teacher at Whitehall Central School, he is co-owner of G and M Photos and Skenesborough Morgans Co. He is president of the Whitehall Rotary Club and secretary of the Skenesborough Fire Department.
The couple will live at 108 1/2 Broadway, Whitehall.

Mrs. Roberta Way, Etters, Pa., was matron of honor. John C. Kiechle was his brother's best man. Ushers were Robert Molnar and Robert Mowatt, 3rd.
Mrs. Kiechle, a graduate of Tully Central School and of Albany State University, received a master's degree in German from Middlebury College, Vt., and has studied in Italy and Germany. She taught Latin and German at Setauket, L. I., and Cambridge.
Mr. Kiechle, a graduate of Indian River Central School, was graduated from Cornell University and is associated with his father raising registered Guernsey cattle. He is past president of Northern New York Guernsey Club and is first vice president of the state Guernsey breeders association.
The couple lives at 29 Garden Road, Philadelphia.

The marriage of Jean Marie Price of Ogdensburg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Price of 109 Washington St., Wayland, and Michael B. Kiechle of Philadelphia, N.Y., was solemnized Saturday (May 5, 1964) in St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wayland.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kiechle of Philadelphia.
The Rev. Dr. Irene Stock performed the double-ring ceremony. Organist and soloist was Mrs. Paula Abraham of Wayland.
Maid of honor was Susan Bonadonna of Wayland. Bridesmaids were Heather Sachs of Brooklyn; Nancy Averill of Wayland; Mary Ann Cran of Los Molinos, Calif.; and Judy Bower of Wayland, the bride's sister. Best man was Terry Strawn of Athens, Ga. Ushers were the groom's brothers, Kyle Kiechle of Philadelphia and Todd Kiechle of Radcliffe, Ky.; his cousin, Dan Kiechle of Philadelphia; and the bride's brothers, James Price and Joseph Price, junior usher, both of Wayland.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a Victorian style wedding gown of silk organza over taffeta designed with high neckline and illusion yoke. The leg-o-mutton sleeves were detailed withlace and silk Venise lace trimmed with fitted bodice. Lace ruffles were used on the full skirt which ended in a cathedral train. Her walking-length veil was trimmed with matching lace.
A buffet luncheon in the Wayland American Legion building followed the ceremony before the couple left for a wedding trip to California. Upon their return home, their address will be Box 339C, Pyhiladelphia, NY. 13673.
The bride graduated from Wayland Central School, Cornell University and the Institute of Paralegal Training in Philadelphia. She is employed by Maloney, Schell and Eisenhauer Attorneys.
Her husband graduated from Indian River Central School in Philadelphia and from Cobleskill State Universty and Cornell University. He is employed as a dairy farmer.

ADAMS CENTER — The funeral for James W. Taylor, 90, of the Dry Hill Rd, will be 4 pm Wednesday, December 21st at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville. Spring burial will be in Evans Mills Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 2 pm – 4 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 321 Prospect St., Watertown, NY 13601 or to the South Jefferson Rescue Squad.
Mr. Taylor passed away Saturday, December 17th in the emergency room of the Samaritan Medical Center.
Mr. Taylor was born November 18, 1921 in Evans Mills, a son to James F. and Laura Mae Paul Taylor. He graduated from Adams Center High School and was a 1942 graduate for Canton ATC. Mr. Taylor served with the US Army Air Corps as a crew chief aboard the aircraft C-47 stationed in England, Belgium, Germany and France. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Northern New York, purchasing and operated a dairy farm on Rural Hill from 1952-1966. He went to work as a millwright with the Carpenters Union working on several projects to include the nuclear plant at Nine Mile Power Plant in Scriba, NY. He retired in the late 1980’s.
Mr. Taylor married Ruth E. Schallenberg November 13, 1943. She passed away March 31, 1985. He married Frances Harrington May 31, 1986.
Mr. Taylor was a former member of the Belleville Central School Board of Education. A gun enthusiast, he was a life member of NRA.
He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying gardening, sugaring and making maple syrup, and gardening.
He loved his family and always smiled when they were around. He was an avid reader and had a sharp command of current events; his voice would change when he told you “he loved you.”
Besides his wife Frances, he is survived by a son and his companion, James W. II and Linda Rose of Orwell. Three daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Richard Fuller, Orwell; Sherry and Steven Muscate of Webster, NY; Debbie and David Longacre, Jermyn, PA. His grandchildren, Laura Washburn, Carolyn and Thomas Wallace, Jeremy Muscate, Stephanie Cicotta, Paige and Jacqueline Taylor, James, Aaron and Caleb Longacre and Esther Axtell. 12 great grandchildren. Frances children, Than and Peggi Harrington of Adams Center and Kay Harrington, Ellisburg. Her grandchildren, T.J., Hollis and Aubrey Harrington, Patrick and Aaron McNulty, one great granddaughter. His brother, John R. Taylor, Adams. Many nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by a brother Richard, his first wife Ruth, his parents and three nephews, Johnny, Billy and Mark Taylor.
