  DURHAMVILLE, — Homer J. Cox, 71, of 3326 Center St. Durhamville died unexpectedly at his home late Monday afternoon.
  Mr. Cox was bom in Verona, May 19, 1897, the son of Charles and Minia Low Cox and had been a lifelong resident of the Verona-Durhamville area. He was a farmer.
  Mr. Cox was of the Presbyterian faith and was a member of the Vernon Lodge of Masons. During World War I he served in Europe with the U.S. Army. He married the former Dorothy Kilts in Higginsville on July 3, 1927.
  Surviving besides his wife, a son, Paul, Durhamville; four daughters Mrs. Norman (Virginia) Griesmyer, Oneida; Mrs. William (Barbara) Harris, Jr., Holmesville; Mrs. William (Nancy) Loomis, Durhamville; and Miss Suzanne Cox, at home; three brothers, Truman Cox, Verona; Robert Cox, Oneida Castle; and Clayton

  BLOSSVALE Mary Jane Clifford, 92, formerly of Haskins Road, passed away Friday, March 26 2010 at Sunset Nursing Home. She was born July 15, 1917 in Sylvan Beach, N.Y., a daughter of Wallace and Anna Behr Hobbie.
  On May 18, 1944, she married Getman K. Clifford in North Bay, N.Y. He passed away Nov. 21, 2003. Mary Jane was a baker and cook for Eddies Restaurant for many years. She was also a member of St. Johns Church, North Bay, and enjoyed gardening.
  Surviving are four daughters, Helen Peebles, Durhamville; Donna and James Merrium, Boonville; Esther McConnell and Patricia Clifford all of Vienna; a son, Peter Clifford also of Vienna, ten grandchildren including Rachael and Mike Bourgeois, Vienna, nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Austerman, Penn Yan, N.Y.; brother-in-law, Peter E. Clifford, Delhi; a special cousin, Mary Groves, Utica, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Anne Dunn on Feb. 17, 2006.
  A funeral Mass for Mary Jane Clifford of Blossvale will be held 10 a.m. Monday from St. Johns Church, North Bay, N.Y. under the direction of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, N.Y. Interment McConnellsville Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunset Nursing Home, Boonville, N.Y.

  Sylvan Beach, May 19 — Miss Mary Jane Hobbie of Sylvan Beach, daughter of Wallace Hobbie of Verona Beach, was united in marriage to Getman Clifford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Clifford, Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at St. John's Church, North Bay, with the pastor, the Rev. John J. Butler performing the ceremony.
  The bride was attired in a white satin gown with a train, the sweetheart neck was trimmed with pearls. The full length veil was caught with a corona of pearls, and she carried a bouquet of white snapdragons and red roses.
  The bridesmaids were Miss Mary Groves of Utica, a cousin of the bride, and was attired in a gown of salmon pink satin with matching accessories and wore a white gardenia at the waist line. Miss Mary McCullough of Canastota, was attired in aqua blue satin with matching accessories and wore a white gardenia at her waist line.
  The bridegroom had for his best man, his brother, Peter Clifford, a member of the U. S. Navy, attending John Hopkins University. The bride was given away at the altar by her brother, Frank N. Hobbie. The ushers were William Haskins and Jack Haskins of Vienna.
  After the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride on Park Ave. Her going away suit was green and she wore brown accessories. After a short honeymoon they will be at home in their new home on the Sylvan Beach-New London road.

  Sylvan Beach - Herbert W. Morford, 67, of Robert's Trailer Park, died of carbon monoxide asphyxiation yesterday morning, Coroner Thomas A. Cox, Rome, ruled. Cox said, "life was taken by his own act," State Police reported.
  Mr. Morford, a retired General Electric Co. employe, was found dead in his parked car by a passing motorist, Emerson Deyo, Durhamville. The car was on Sterling Road, south of here.
  Investigator George A. Sanders, Oneida, is in charge of the investigation, Mr. Morford had been despondent because of poor health, police said.
  He was born m Ellensburg. He married Huldah Mott in 1918 in Canastota. Mr. Morford was a veteran of World War I. He retired in 1962 after nine years as a security policeman for General Electric Co. in Syracuse.
  Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Douglas Loucks of Canastota and Mrs. William Bellinger of Westmoreland; a brother, Elmer Dodge of Manchester, N.H.; and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Chase of Wellesley, Mass., and Mrs. Mabel Everets of Manchester, N.H.
  The funeral will be at 2 Friday from the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Canastota, with the Rev. W. James Gilson, pastor of First Baptist Church, Canastota, officiating. Burial will be in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Canastota.
  Calling hours are tonight and tomorrow night.

   Mr. Mott died Monday at State University Hospital, Syracuse.
   He was born in McConnellsville. He married the former Grace Berow in 1924 in Oneida.
   Mr. Mott lived in and around Oneida most of his life. He owned and operated Mott's Lenox Service on Lenox Avenue 23 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
   A member of First United Methodist Church of Oneida, he also belong to the Odd Fellows Lodge, Dean Cunningham Post No. 1312, VFW. and Oneida Post 169, American Legion.
   Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Charles Jr. of Portville, and Merton Mott of California; a daughter Mrs. George Anderson of Verona: two brothers, Leonard of Verona Beach and Wesley Mott of Oneida Castle; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert Morford of Verona Beach, and Mrs. Claude Weimer of Canastota; 17 grandchildren; a great-grandson.

  Oneida, Jan. 19.—With her husband, two sons and a brother all in the armed forces, serving with the three branches, Mrs. Grace Mott, 219 E. Railroad St., displays a four-star service flag in her home.
  The family was all together when Pearl Harbor was bombed. One by one since then, the men have left, until now Mrs. Mott and her 14-year-old daughter, Barbara, remain to keep the home fires burning. Mrs. Mott is the former Grace Berow, daughter of Alex Berow, Wampsville, custodian of county buildings.
  Her husband is motor machinists mate, third class, Charles L. Mott, U. S. Navy, in combat service in the Southwest Pacific; their son, Charles L. Mott jr., 18, is a seaman, first class, in the Navy, now stationed in California. Their second son, Pvt. Merton A. Mott, is in the Marine Corps completing training at Parris Island. Mrs. Mott's brother, S/Sgt. Wesley Berow, U. S. Navy is stationed in England.

   Harold Buddle of Canajoharie was best man.
  After a wedding trip to Buffalo and Niagara Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Swanson are residing at 29 Mill street, Canajoharie.
  The bride is a graduate of Canajoharie Central school and is employed in the tabulating department of the Beech-Nut .Co. The bridegroom was graduated from South Gate high school in California and is also employed at the Beech-Nut Co.

  A Candlelight service at St. Mark's Lutheran Chuch, Canajoharie, on the evening of Aug. 18, united in marriage Miss Beverly Jane Eaker and Harold James Buddle. Rev. Herbert D. Shimer pastor of the Argusvile and Leesville Lutheran churches, performed the double ring ceremony.
  The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Myrtle Eaker and the late Stanley Eaker and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Buddie, all of Canajoharie.
  Arrangements of palms and white gladioli with tall tapers in candlelabra formed the altar setting for the ceremony. Mrs. Avery VanSlyke, organist, played the traditional wedding marches and accompanied Mrs. Leonard Swanson, sister of the bride, who sang "I Love You," by Cadman, and "I Love Thee," by Crieg, before the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her cousin, Russell Getman of Fort Plain.
  Miss Eaker chose for her wedding a gown of rosepoint lace over taffeta. The fitted bodice had a scoop neckline trimmed with seed pearls and sequins and the hoop skirt terminated in a chapel train. She wore a crown of lace studded with seed pearls, rhinestones and sequins, with a veil of English imported illusion, and carried a white orchid, on a white prayer book.
  Mrs, Swanson, who was matron of honor for her sister, wore a gown of rose nylon chiffon with picture hat of matching chiffon sprinkled with sequlns. She carried a colonial boquet of pink roses centered with pink and white sweetpeas.
  Miss Marge Black, Waddington, and Miss Jean Losty, New Lebanon, college friends of the bride, were gowned alike in aqua chiffon with matching headpieces. Their colonial boquets were of yellow pompons centered with pastel sweetpeas.
  Pvt Alvln Buddle, U.S. Marine corps, Parris Island, NC, was best man for his brother. Gerald Buddle of Ilion, another brother, and Leonard Swanson ushered.
  A reception for 150 followed in the church parlors, after which the couple left for a wedding trip through the southern states.
  A graduate of Canajoharie Central school in 1951, and State University Teachers College, Potsdam in 1957, the bride has accepted a position as music teacher at Spencerport Central school, starting in September. The bridegroom, a graduate of Canajoharie Central school, served in the U.S. Navy. He will enter his sophomore year at Brockport State Teachers College this fall, to con tinue his training as an instructor in physical education.
  Mr. and Mrs. Buddie will reside at 126 West avenue, Spencerport, after Sept. 1.
