  Mr. and Mrs. Roy T. Meyers, of 18 Pearl street, announce the engagement of their daughter, Evelyn Margaret, to Robert R. Currie, Jr, son of Robert Currie and the late Mrs. Currie. of Baldwinsville.
  Miss Meyers is a graduate of Gloversville High School and next month will receive the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Music degrees from the College for Women and the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester. While at college, Miss Meyers was elected to the Senior Honorary Society, Marsiens, at the College for Women. For the past three years she has been director of the College choir and Glee clubs, and this past year worked with the Inter-Campus Choral group of the university.
  Mr. Currie studied at the University of Rochester prior to his Army service. He spent three yers in the Air Corps, where he was commissioned a lieutenant. Receiving his honorable discharge last October. Mr. Currie returned to the university to complete his studies, majoring in mechanical engineering He ia a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

Baldwinsville, were married Wednesday in the East Side Memorial Presbyterian church by the Rev. Kenneth L. Slorpe, the pastor and the Rev. Stephen Crary. Miss Ann T. Goodenough, Pittsford, was the maid of honor, with Miss Sally Ingtalls of South Wales and Miss Nancy Meyers, sister of the bride, as bridesmaids. Gerald A. Currie, brother of the bridegroom, waa the best man.
  After a short wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Currie will reside at 75 Irvington Road. Rochester. The bride, following her graduation this June, will be a member of the faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences of the university in Rochester. The bridegroom, a lieutenant In the Army Air Corps for two and s half years, is now attending the university and is a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.

August 13) at 3, with Dr. James W. Fifleld, Jr., officiatng. Rev. Anger has been minister of public relations at the church
  The former Miss Meyers is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy T. Meyers of Gloversville and was given in marriage by her uncle, Brenton F. Beverly, to the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Anger of Maywood, Calif.
  The bride wore grey chiffon over taffeta, with forest green accessories, and carried white daisies and ivy. Mrs. Linden Leavitt, her only attendant, wore lime crepe with
matching accessories and carried yellow daisies and ivy.
  The best man was the Rev. Max W. Burke, and the ushers were Harold Anger, brother of the bridegroom, and Robert W. Schmidt.
  On September 1, Rev. Mr. Anger will assume his new duties as minister of the Pilgrim Congregational church of Pasadena, Calif.
  The bride graduated from Gloversville High school in 1944, attended Pratt Art Institute in Brooklyn, and graduated from the Wright-MacMahon Secretarial School in Beverly Hills, Calif.
  Rev. Anger graduated from the University of Redlands, Redlands. Calif, and the Colgate-Rochester Divinity School in Rochester.

  The marriage of Miss Margaret Eleanor Lewis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gwynne Trevor Lewis of 659 Lotus avenue, Oradell, N. J., and David Getman Meyers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy T. Meyers, 21 Helwlg street, this city, took place Saturday afternoon at 3.
  The ceremony was performed in the Oradell Reformed church by the Rev. Alvln Hook. The soloist was Mrs. Robert Currie of Schenectady, sister of the bridegroom.
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin and chantilly lace fashioned with lace bertha and lace sweep train. Her finger tip veil fell from a lace cap trimmed with seed pearls and she carried a white Bible, pom pons, lilies of the valley and stephanotis.
  Her maid of honor, Miss Joan Franks of Brooklyn, wore a gown of hunter green taffeta and carried bronze pom pons.
  The bridesmaids, Miss Janet Murphy of Oradell, wore light green taffeta and carried yellow pom pons.
  The best man was Clair Van Ausdall of Souix Falls. S D., and the ushers were Robert Currie of Schenectady, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; Douglas Lewis of Birmingham, Detroit, brother of the bride, and Howard and Richard Vogt of Upper Monclair, N. J.
The bride's mother wore surrah silk of a brown tint with black accessories and a corsage of pink bavardia and the bridegroom's mother wore, grey taffeta with black accessories and a corsage of garnet roses.
  A reception followed the ceremony in the home of the bride.
  After a wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Meyers will reside in Rochester.
  The bride is a senior in the Eastman school of Music, Rochester, and a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, national women's music fraternity. The bridegroom is a graduate of Eastman School of Music and is doing graduate work. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha, national men's music fraternity.
  Guests were present from Boston. Farmingdale, L. I., Los Angeles, Calif.. Rochester, New York city and Gloversville.

 - Obituary (The Leader-Republican, Gloversville and Johnstown, NY, Wednesday, April 1, 1953)
  Ernest L. Mead, 68, of 206 South Melcher Street, employe of the State Highway Department for the past 22 years, died suddenly this morning at 10:45 after being stricken with a fatal heart attack.
  It occured in front of the Masonic Temple, 22 North Perry Street, while he was riding on a highway truck with several other workers on their way to do some road work.
  Dr. Martin L. Brewda, who was assisting at the Red Cross blood giving center at the temple, was summoned but the stricken man had already passed away. Dr. Frank G. Calder, coroner, was then notified.
  Mr. Mead was born in the Town of Johnstown, Sept. 27, 1884, the son of Homer and Elizabeth (Empie) Mead but had lived in this city the greater part of his life.
  He was- a member of the First Baptist Church.
  Mr. Mead was united in marriage in May, 1933, to Mrs. Madge Fletcher Cool in Albany, who survives, together with three sons, Lyman L. of St. Albans, V. Everett F. of Atlanta, Ga., and Robert E. of Johnstown: two step-daughters, Mrs. Alfred Frye of Gloversville, and Mrs. Elmer Allen of Troy; also 10 grandchldren, nieces and nephews.
  The body was removed to the Brown & Ehle Funeral Home where friends may call after Thursday noon.
   The funeral will be held Saturday at, 2 in the funeral home The Rev. Harlow W. Parsons will officiate. Burial will he in the Sand Flats Cemetery.

They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Charles I.. Bowers, Jr., of Johnstown. After the marriage ceremony, the wedding party was conveyed to the home of the bridegroom's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Mead, at Fonda, where a reception was tendered the newly married couple and a bounteous wedding supper served. Both the bride and bridegroom are well known young residents of Fonda. Mr. Mead is an R. F. D. carrier, and their many friends will extend best wishes for n happy wedded life.

  Mrs. Nina Mead Bowers, 49, wife of Charles L Bowers, of the Johnstown-Broadalbin road, died last night about 9 in the Nathan Littauer hospital, where she had been a patient since August 22. She had been an invalid over 15 years.
  She was born July 5, 1893, in Syracuse, the daughter of Homer L. Mead and Elizabeth C. Empie Mead and had resided the greater portion of her life in Johnstown. For the past 11 years she had lived on the Johnstown-Broadalbin road.
  Before she was taken ill she was employed by the Streeter & Hackney Glove Co., for a period of 11 years. She was a member of the Baptist church, the Fidelity class of that church, Francis Willard WCTU, and was a past noble grand of Acorn Rebekah Lodge 173 IOOF.
  Survivors, besides her husband, are one daughter, Miss Lylian Kathryn Bowers; one brother, Ernest Mead of Johnstown as well as three nephews.
   The body was taken to the A. G. Cole funeral home to be prepared for interment. Friends may call at the funeral home until tomorrow morning, at which time it will be taken to the family home, where a prayer service will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30. The funeral will be held at 2:30 in the First Baptist church, this city. The Rev. Harlow W. Parsons will officiate and interment will be in the Evergreen cemetery, Sand Flats.

  A prayer service for Mrs. Nina Mead Bowers, aged 49 years, wife of Charles L. Bowers, who passed away Monday night in the Nathan Littauer hospital, was held at the family home on the Johnstown-Broadalbin road this afternoon at 1:30. The funeral was held in the Baptist church at 2:30.
  The Rev. Harlow W. Parsons officiated, assisted by the Rev. Floyd E. Lepper of Amsterdam. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Spurr, Fulton County rural Sunday school workers, sang during the service.
  Among the many floral tributes received were pieces from the Frances Wlllard W. C. T. U., table cutters at the Superb Glove Co, factory, Pilgrim Holiness church of Fultonville, students in the Frank district school, Miss Johnstown Diner, family, friends and neighbors.
  The bearers were Herbert Bowers, William Bowers, Ernest Bowers, Harry Bowers, Alonso Walrath and Ernest Coons. Burial was made in Evergreen cemetery, Sand Flats.
