- Wedding announcement (The Mancelona Herald, Mancelona, MI, June 19, 1941)
Ata small but very beautiful service Sunday p.m. at 7 o'clock Laura Jane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Wright, was united in marriage to Karl Larson , son of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Larson of Mancelona.
The service was performed on the lawn before an altar of flowers against a background of cedars with candelabra on either side. The impressive double ring service was read by Rev. J. W. Alexander of Charlevoix before a group of relatives and friends.
After the guests were assembled, Mrs. Clara Dreher, aunt of the bride, sang "Oh Promise Me " and "I Love You Truly, " accompanied by Mrs. Loretta Jacobs, sister of the bride. To the strain of the wedding march from Lohengrin, played by Mrs. Clyda Hierlihy of Brighton, the wedding party Marehed to the altar in the following order: The groom and the best man, Ray Pillar; matron of honor, Mrs. Loretta Jacobs, and Laura Jane on the arm of her father.
The bride wore an afternoon dress of rose sheer bemberg and carried an arm bouquet of white carnations tied with white satin ribbon. The matron of honor was dressed in silk print, the mother of the bride in teal blue and the mother of the groom in navy, all with tearose corsages.
After congratulations and best wishes had been received by the happy couple and the beautiful display of gifts admired, the 3-tier bride's cake, made by Mrs. Mary Mills, was cut by Mrs. Larson, assisted by her cousin, Mrs. Clyde Hierlihy. Refreshments of ice cream and cake were then served by five close girl friends — Gertrude Mills, Janet Dunson, Ruth Clapp, Barbara Jane Orcutt and Betty June Browne, assisted by Mrs. Sadie LaNore, Mrs. Frances Williams and Mrs. Nellye Dunson.
