  CAMDEN — Betty A. Brazie 77, of N. Hillsboro Rd., passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Oneida Healthcare Center. She was born February 1, 1933 in Herkimer, NY, a daughter of Gerald & Erva Dale Reed, and attended Camden Schools. On October 23, 1950 she married Francis Brazie in Pennsylvania, he passed away Nov. 30, 1977. Betty worked as an assistant director of the Camden Library and was also a community aide with the Oneida County Headstart. She was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church and had served as a Brownie and Girl Scout volunteer. Betty was proud of her family’s Folts lineage, which linked them to the 1777 Battle of Oriskany. We will remember her most for her selflessness while she deserved so much and for her quiet strengths.
   Surviving are six daughters, Catherine Brazie, Williamstown, Francine & Ronald Berkes, Camden, Beverly Brazie, Rome, Karen Brazie, Tina Brazie & Brian Facteau and Penny Brazie, all of Camden; six sons, Peter & Pam, Thomas, Michael & Lisa Brazie, all of Camden, William Brazie from Lee, Gerald Brazie, Rome, and Chris & Tammy Brazie, Verona; 20 grandchildren, Brad, Robyn, Betty Jean, Amy, Whitney, John, Christopher, Chelsea, Taylor, Carrie, McKenna, Jeremy Brazie, Louise Povse, Heather Garvey, Heidi Berkes, Tonya Secrest, Edward, Tiffany and Kyle Washeleski and Jamie Turner; and 11 great grandchildren; four sisters, Barbara Reed, Syracuse, Carol & Dennis Tornatore, Canastota, Sandra Conley, Florence, Linda & Thomas Slocum, Camden; and three brothers, Gerald Reed, Camden, Donald & Sharon Reed, Gettysburg, PA, David & Jennifer Reed, East Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by a grandson, Shane Harlander, and three brothers, William, Edward and Joseph Reed.
   Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday from LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. Private interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, 109 Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Assoc.

  CAMDEN - The funeral for Edward J. Reed, 27, of 13 Second St, who died Sunday after a car accident, will be at 2 tomorrow from the Sanborn Funeral Home.
  Mr. Reed was employed by the Rochester Shoe Tree Co. Inc.
  He was born in Camden, son of Gerald P. and Erva Dale Reed. He married Sheila Burrey.
  Mr. Reed was a member of the First Methodist Church.
  Besides his parents and wife, he leaves two daughters, Patricia Sue and Deborah Ann, at home; five sisters, Mrs. Francis Brazie, Camden; Miss Barbara Reed, Camden: Mrs. Michaek Conley, McConnellsville, and Miss Linda Reed, Camden, and four brothers, Gerald H., William R., David, all of Camden, and Donald, Rome.
  Burial Will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

  Peter Quinn, 83, a resident of Cross Point Road, Edgecomb, died Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the Gregory Wing of St. Andrews Village after a period of failing health.
   Mr. Quinn was born October 9, 1924 in Washington, D.C., the son of Cyril Joseph Columbus and Henrietta Dimond Quinn, and attended the Allen-Stevenson School in New York City and graduated from The Portsmouth Abbey School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
   After 3 months at Brown University, upon turning 18, he left school to join the U.S. Marine Corps, serving for three years, including time in the South Pacific. Upon his discharge, he returned to Brown University to complete his education, graduating in 1950.
   He married Sophie Dallas Bigelow in 1950. After working ten years for Honeywell Corp, Mr. Quinn then joined the J. & W. Seligman Co. in 1960, retiring in 1983.
   Upon retiring, he and Sophie moved to Edgecomb, where he became active in his community by serving on several town, corporate and community boards of directors, and was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Boothbay Harbor. He enjoyed studying history and genealogy.
   Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sophie Bigelow Quinn of Edgecomb; children Ellen Quinn and her husband Quentin Lawson of Washington, D.C., Louise Quinn of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Emily Quinn of Boise, Idaho, Peter Quinn and his wife Carolina of New York, New York, and Arabella Quinn and her husband Timothy Boland of Mechanicsville, Maryland; two grandchildren, Keelin Ryan and Emma Ryan, and their father Mark Ryan all of Boise, Idaho; and a brother-in-law, Theodore H. Bigelow, of Pittsboro, North Carolina.
   A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept 12, 2008 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Boothbay Harbor. Interment was in Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield, Ohio.
   Arrangements are entrusted to the Simmons Harrington and Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 978 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay.

Havenmeyer of "Friedheim," this city was married Monday to Peter Quinn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cyril J Quinn of New York. The ceermony took place in the Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Tuzedo. The very Rev. E. Gregory Borgastedt, head of Portsmouth Priory, of which the bridegroom is a graduate, officiated. The bridegroom who served in the Marine Corps as a staff sergeant, graduated from Brown University in 1945.

  Asa S. Bushnell, III 9/15/1925 - 3/14/2011 A Memorial Service for Asa "Ace" Bushnell, 85, who passed away March 14, 2011 will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Casas Church, 10801 N. LaCholla Blvd.
   Ace retired at the age of 80 after 23 years as community relations manager for the Pima County Sheriff's Department. He assisted the Sheriff's Auxiliary Volunteers for 21 years. He received many awards for his work in crime prevention and addictions, but the highlight of his life, he said, was his final honor, The Haven's Chrysalis Award, which he shared with former, longtime Compass CEO Joan McNamara, and was presented to him at a luncheon on March 10, 2011. Among the boards that he has served as past president and/or as a member were Gateway Inc. and the Tucson Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence - two agencies that merged in 1997 to form Compass Health Care Inc.; 88-CRIME; the Pima Prevention Partnership, and past chairman of the Compass Foundation. At the 2004 Dynamic Duo Gala, he was a co-winner with Ms. McNamara of the Jorgensen Award for years of work in the recovery field. Ace was a 30-year, seven-month perfect-attendance member as well as a past president (1986-87) of the Rotary Club  of Tucson, which gave him its highest accolade, the Orville S. McPherson Award, in 2003. He was a member and past chairman of the Tucson Chapter of the Society of Former FBI Special Agents as well as former Western regional vice president of the society, which presented him with its 2003 Humanitarian Award. The 2004 Founders Award was presented to Ace by the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce for a long record of service in the community. He was inducted into the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. Ace also served as secretary of his Princeton Class of 1947 for 34 years.
  A former newspaperman who spent four separate stints with the Tucson Citizen in four consecutive decades for a total of more than 20 years, Ace began his career in the Old Pueblo as a reporter in 1948. He eventually became sports editor, assistant managing editor and editorial page editor/columnist. Between tours at the Citizen, he served as a special agent with the FBI (1951-52), managing editor of Town Topics in Princeton, N.J. (1955-59), public relations director for the Attorney General of New Jersey (1959-62), managing editor of the Upland (Calif.) News (1964-65), editor of the Montesano (Wash.) Vidette (1965-68), public relations officer for the New Mexico Sheriffs & Police Association (1968-69), and managing editor of the Palisadian-Post (1969-71) in Pacific Palisades, Calif. He also was a local free-lance writer.
  Born in Springfield, Ohio, to Asa S. Bushnell II and Thelma Clark Bushnell, he was raised in Princeton and graduated from the Hill prep school in Pottstown, Pa., and from Princeton University. He enlisted in the Marines right out of prep school and served until the end of WWII.
  He has been married since August 1986 to writer/editor Cheryl "Cheri" Cross-Bushnell. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Betty. Survivors include his wife, Cheri; sister, Barbara Leonard of Scottsdale; daughter, Carolyn Houghtby of Pflugerville, Texas; sons, Larry and Mark, both of Tucson; stepdaughters, Michelle Marsh of Tucson, Peggi Cross of Rochester, N.Y., and Rochelle Jourdan of Kerhonkson, N.Y. and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces.
  The family suggests that donations be made in memory of Asa S. Bushnell III to the Pima Prevention Partnership, 88-CRIME, The Haven or Compass Health Care Foundation.

Katherine Purcell

  Katherine P. Brown, 84 of Oxford Street, died unexpectedly Jan. 20, 2004 at the Oneida Healthcare Center. She was born on Oct. 19, 1919 in Middletown,the daughter of Wilbur and Katherin Lloyd Purcell.
  Katie has spent her early years in Shurburne and was a 1939 graduate of Sherburne High School. She moved to Oneida in 1995.
  Together with her husband Ray, she had ownd and operatedtheir dairy farms in Peterboro until retiring in 1981. She had also worked at the former Olney & Floyd Canning Factory in Canastota, General Electric on Center Street in Canastota and later at SUNY Morrisville.
  Katie had been a n avid reader, enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles, having her family and neighbors come to see her, along with spending time at her most favorite palce in the world, "The Lanai in Naples, Fla."
  She was a member of the Peterboro United Methodist Church and St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Oneida.
  Katie married Raymond H. Brown on her high school graduation night, Jan. 26, 1939 in Sherburne. Ray died on Aug. 21, 1997.
  Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Doris and Frances Relyea and Ellen"Elle" Button, all of Canestota, and Margaret "Meg" Sterle of DeRuyter, 18 grandchildren and several neices and nephewsw. Also surviving ar her wxtended family, a sister-in-law, Margaret "Peg" Brown and Iva Thurston and family; and dearest friends, Ruth Lindauer, and Scott and Donna Griffin.
  Funeral services were held at the J. Homner Ball Funeral Home, Inc., Canastota. The Rev. Elizabeth Quick of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and the Rev. Neil D. Coe co-officiated. Burial was in Peterboro Cemetery. Calling hours were held prior to the funeral at the funeral home, 201 James Street, Canastota.
