Boys Ask Santa Claus To Return Missing Dad
Hornell, Dec. 17 (INS)-Two Hornell youngsters sent an open letter to Santa Claus today asking him to "please send our daddy home for Christmas."
Darold Lee (Sparkle) Getman. six, and his brother, Gerry Dean (Chip), two, wrote that the present they want most is for their father Alfred, 33, to be found and returned to them.
Getman, a district sales supervisor for the Hoover Co. left for work in Elmira last January 10th and has not been seen since.
After Getman's disappearance, his wife became ill and had to have her leg amputated, the children had to be cared for by relatives, and the family home was lost.
Mrs. Getman, who wrote the appeal for her two children, sent a copy to International News Service and .and asked "Won't you please help bring our family together for Christmas." Hornell police said Getman's car was found in Burbank. Cal., soon after he vanished. The auto was found in a Burbank garage where it had been left for repairs, but Getman never returned to claim it.
