Earl Wheeler, well-known member the Paradise Fire Department and owner of the Wheeler Bicycle Shop, died suddenly this morning minutes after he entered Rheingana Hospital. Death was apparently due to a heart ailment.
He had notified ths fire department, where he was employed as a regular fireman, that he had been ill during the night and was reporting to the hospital this morning.
Mr. Wheeler was born in Blanchard, Iowa, April 6, 1900. He and his family lived in Paradise at 441 Wagstaff Road since 1939, and he was in business here operating the bicycle and hobby shop for the past 13 years.
During World War II he served a fireman at the Chico Army Air Force Base, and was also one of the charter members of this community's first fire protection force, the Paradise volunteer Firemen. He had been a member of the regular Paradise Fire Department since its inception in 1951.
He was a member of the volunteer Fire Department, and the Paradise Gem and Mineral society, and was active in civic affairs, particularly in youth bicycle safety groups and campaigns.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; a son Arthur, of Chico, and one grandson; a brother, Leonard Wheeler, and a sister, Mrs. C. R. Coats, both of Elmo, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at Craig Memorial Congregational Church with the Rev. Arnold A. Brown officiating. Arrangements are by the Paradise Chapel of the Pines.
The funeral date is pending arrival of relatives.

Alfred Christensen son of William and Ora Spencer Christensen was born Oct 9, 1900, at Coin, Ia. He died Jan 23, at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln after a short illness.
He attended school and was a graduate of the Coin High School in 1919. That fall he Enrolled at the University of Nebraska and attended two years. In 1928 he returned to the University where he received his degree in Agricultural Economics in the spiring of 1929.
On July 19, 1922 he was married to Edith Leone Hensteigh at Coin Ia. Five children were born to them.
In 1947 the Christensens moved to Red Cloud where he was associated with the Soil Conservation Service and would have celebrated 80 years of service for them on March l. He also farmed north of Red Cloud until a few months ago.
He joined the Methodist Church at the age of 12 and through the years has been falth ful not only in attendance and active participation in different activities of the church but living a Christian life. He was chairman of the commission on Christian Social Concerns of the local church.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Red Cloud and Tehama Temple of the Shrine in Hastings. He served 13 years as Worthy Patron of Charity Chapter of Eastern Star in Red Cloud.
His varied interests include Betterment of Agriculture, youth work, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and 4H activities.
Survivors include his wife Leone, sons, Russell of Des Moines, Ia.; Caroll of DeKalb, Ill.; and Harold of Fremont. One daughter, Dorothy (Mrs. Wayne Purtzer) of Portland Ore.; his stepmother, Mrs. Fern Christensen and a half-sister, Mrs. Walter Southwell, also of Portland and nine grandchildren. One son Bobbie died in 1924.
He was a kind loving husband and father and a good neighbor.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 27, at the First Methodist Church with Rev Ellsworth Hughes officiating.
Music was furnished by Mrs I Clifford Phillips who was accompanied by Mrs Percy Rasser organist.
Pallbearers Were Millard C. Ailes, Donald Kelly, John D. Mathew, Robert N. Lamb, Ralph E. Ferebee and Harry E Paden.
Interment was in Coin, Ia. on Tuesday.

Both of the young people are well known in Custer county. Mrs. Linder ios the daugter of Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Everett. she attended school in Broken Bow and was graduated from th elocal high school in the class of 1927. Mr. Linder is the son of Mr. and Mrs. boyd Linder. He also received his education in the local school, and on his graduation from high school here, he attended college at Hastings and Grand Island for two years.
They will make their home in Broken Bow where Mr. Linder is working for his father in the Boyd Linder filling station.

Ernest Orr Everett, 93, Ulysses, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
He was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Concordia, to Amanda and Orr Everett.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Everett married Evelyn Yetschke on Dec. 4, 1938, in Great Bend. She survives.
He worked as a salesman for many years and traveled throughout Kansas.
The Everetts owned the Jo-Ran-Gae-Rae Steakhouse and Club for many years in Ulysses.
Other survivors also include two sons, Randall Everett of Keystone Heights, Fla. and Gary Everette of Laughlin, Nev.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Evelyn G. Everett, age 96, a resident of Ulysses, Kansas, passed away on Monday April 10, 2017, at The Legacy at Park View. She was born on June 9, 1920, in Great Bend, Kansas to Clarence and Chloe Yetschke. Evelyn was best known for being an owner of the Jo-Ran-Gae-Rae supper club in Ulysses for many years along with her husband Ernie.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Everett; her mother, Chloe Yetschke; her father, Clarence Yetschke; her brother, Robert Yetschke; and her sister, Jean Cuzick.
Evelyn is survived by her sons, Gary Everett and Randall Everett; grandchildren, Chad Everett, Bryan Everett, Kristi Everett, Shane Everett, Shawn Everett, Brandon Everett and Bret Everett, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Verly M. Walker, age 92, of Council Bluffs, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Mercy Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Kilmer, 929 East A, announce the engagement of their daughter, Alice, to Fred G. Finfrock, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Finfrock. RFD 2. The wedding will be Sept. 24.
Miss Kilmer, graduate of Hutchinson high school, attended business college here. She is employed by the Reno County Credit association.
Mr. Finfrock is a graduate of Haven high school and is a farmer in the Darlow community.
