  Wayne E. Sanderlin, age 71 of Holiday Island, Arkansas, passed away at his home Sunday, April 13, 2008.
   He was born in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, June 5, 1936, the son of Reverend Fred and Lavada Juanita Sanderlin. He was united in marriage on June 6, 1958, to Wynona Flournoy, who survives him.
   He is also survived by one son, Barry Sanderlin of Branson, Missouri; two daughters, Rhonda Yates and her husband, Rick of El Paso, Texas and Elyse Ferrell and her husband, Tommy of Tucker, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Cory, Katie, Kimmee, Amy, Garrison, Joseph and Bailey as well as his mother, Lavada Juanita Sanderlin, Cassville, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father.
   Wayne was born in Oklahoma but moved as an infant to Texas where he spent most of his life. He worked for DuPont as a pipe fitter for nine years until he began flying for Delta Air Lines. In 1993, after twenty-nine years of service, Wayne retired from Delta as a Captain and moved to the Ozarks where he settled in Eagle Rock. He was a member of the Golden Baptist Church and The Air Line Pilot's Association. Wayne and Wynona had moved to Holiday Island, Arkansas a few years ago.
   Memorial services will be held at 7 P.M., Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Golden Baptist Church in Golden, Missouri, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. A reception will be held following the service at the church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens in Edna, Texas.

  HERKIMER — Marie L. Claffey was born in Herkimer, New York, July 4th, 1920, and passed away February 12th, 2015, in Gilbert, Arizona.
  She was the daughter of Marjorie and Zeb Leonard of Herkimer, but lived and was raised by an Aunt and Uncle, Addie and Mortimer Wires, of Ilion, New York.
  She graduated from Ilion High School, class of 1938 and graduated from Utica School of Commerce in 1939. She worked at the Ilion Public Library, Acme Industries and Phoenix College Library in Arizona. She was married to Ellis L. Claffey of Lyons Falls, New York, on April 4th, 1944, in the Church of Annunciation, Ilion, New York. They were married for over 60 beautiful years.
  She had four children: Bruce Claffey of Hisperia, California; Diane Yoder of Chandler, Arizona; Brian Claffey of Prescott Valley, Arizona; and Colin Claffey of Rochester, New Hampshire. She leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
  She was a life member of the DAV auxilary, the 3rd Order of St Francis de Paulo, Herkimer, New York, and St. Martin's Church of Summersworth, New Hampshire.
  She was a wonderful, loving, devoted and caring mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and companion.
  She will be dearly missed.

  He is the son of Seb Leonard, Columbia St.
  Besides his wife and three children, Wilfred, Ruth Ann and Norbert Jr., he leaves two brothers, Wilfred. Joliet, Ill., and Howard, Mohawk; five sisters, Mrs. Robert Nabinger, Fort Plain; Mrs. Charles Key and Mrs. Albert Petrie, Richfield Springs; Norma, Utica, and Mrs. Ellis Claffey, Ilion.
  The funeral will be today in Waynetown.

  Murletta J. "Sis" Nabinger, 82, of Prindle Apartments, Ilion, a lifelong resident of the Mohawk Valley, passed away Monday, April 3, 2006, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare following a long illness. Murletta was born Jan. 31, 1924 , in Herkimer, daughter of the late Useb and Marjorie (Bose-Griffin) Leonard. She attended Herkimer schools. Murletta was last employed as a cook at the Mohawk Homestead. She was recently baptized a Roman Catholic. A dedicated homemaker, her family was her life. Survivors include three daughters, Murletta "Jean" Maass and her husband William of Jacksonville, Fla, Lynn Bishop and her companion Leland Nichols of Mohawk and Cheryl Ames of Endwell; two sons, Robert L. and Herbert K. Nabinger; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Chaffee of Arizona and Norma June Leonard of Utica; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and all her friends at Prindle Apartments. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Rebecca, and her brothers and sisters, Shirley, Norbert, Boots, Bud, Betty and Lawrence. In keeping with Murletta's wishes there will be no public calling hours or funeral service at this time. Memorial services at the Prindle Apartments and in Florida will be held at a later date.

  Norma June Leonard, 82, a resident of the St. Luke's Home in New Hartford, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the nursing home with her loving family by her side. Norma was born on January 31, 1929 in Herkimer, NY the daughter of Seb and Marjorie Leonard. She was employed with local dry cleaners and for many years with Smith's Cleaners. Norma enjoyed going to the casino and was an avid bingo player. Norma is survived by one daughter; two sons; nine grandchildren; twenty nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Claffey of Mesa, AZ. She was predeceased by a daughter, Roxanne East; three sisters and four brothers. Norma's funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of her family.

Marriage Notes for Shirley Susanne Leonard and Charles Thompson Key

  Miss Shirley Susanne Leonard, daughter of Sib Leonard of Herkimer, became the bride of Charles Thompson Key, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Key of Richfield Springs RD 1, August 12, with the Rev. Charles M. Fulton officiating, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elon Edick.
  For her wedding, the bride was attired in a white nylon gown, fashioned with high lace neck, lace sleeves and bodice. Her long veil was trimmed with matching lace and fell from a crown of white orange blossoms. She carried an arm bouquet of white gladiolus.
  Attending were Miss Rosemary Key, sister of the bridegroom, and Howard L. Leonard, brother of the bride.
  Miss Key chose a pink taffeta gown with lace inserts and a high lace neck. The bridegroom's mother wore an aqua dress with black.
  A reception for 50 guests followed the ceremony.
  The bride attended Herkimer and Mohawk schools and was employed at Keator's Restaurant in Richfield Springs. Mr. Key attended the Richfield Springs Central school and is employed on his father's farm, where they will reside.

  ILION - Miss Faith Ann Rowlands, infant daughter of James and Dorothy Griffin Rowlands, 33 E. Clark St., died Friday in Herkimer Memorial Hospital shortly after birth.
  Besides her parents she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Joe Talbot and Mrs. Susan Diane Seaman, both of Ilion. Graveside services will be today with burial in Armory Hill Cemetery.
  Arrangements are by the C. J. Applegate and Sons Funeral Home.
