Violet C "Peg" Depew, 85, a former resident of Buffalo and Kaycee, she died Nov. 17, 2007, at Sheridan Manor.
She was born on Jan. 12 1922 in Ward County, N.D., to Jacob and Christina Hansen. She grew up and received her education in North Dakota and attended Kenmare High School in Kenmare, N.D. When she was 18, she moved to Everett, Wash., where she met Roy Depew and they were married on Dec. 15, 1941 in Everett.
They lived in Washington state, California and Texas while he was in the military.
After the war they lived in Seattle until 1948 when they moved to Kaycee, where they worked on various Barnum ranches.
In 1962, they moved to Buffalo where she was a nurse's aide for 23 years, retiring in 1985.
Her husband died in February of 1991 and she continued living in Buffalo until April of 2007 when she moved to Sheridan to be closer to her family.
She was a member of the Methodist Church of Buffalo and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and writing poetry.
She is survived by one son, Marty Depew and his wife of Sheridan; one daughter, Peggy Norman, also of Sheridan; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant daughter, one granddaughter, three brothers and three sisters.
Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery.
