  WAGNER - Inez Horner, 89, of Wagner died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner.
  Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner.
  Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner on Monday from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. There will be prayer service at 7 PM, Monday at the church.
  Inez F. Horner was born September 18, 1919 in Wagner, South Dakota, the daughter of Fred and Abbie (Barkley) Wiechmann. She died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner, South Dakota.
  Inez attended school through the eighth grade and attended beauty school in Mitchell. She married Glenn L. Horner on September 3, 1941 in Wagner, SD. Together they farmed north of Wagner for many years. They moved to town in 1964. Glenn died March 25, 1987. Inez entered the Good Samaritan Center on December 20, 2005.
  Inez was a member of the Wiechmann Trio band, North Rural Circle and Neighbors Extension Club. She was a 65 year member of the United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Inez was a lifetime member of the the VFW Auxiliary.
  Inez was very active in family activities, especially 4-H clubs. She enjoyed special time with her nieces and nephews. Inez will be remembered for her love of her many flowers, house plants and lawn. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and made many afghans and slippers for her family. Inez loved animals, especially her horse, Pinto. She was a very social lady who enjoyed visiting and had been a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Center.
  Thankful for having shared her life are her daughter, Willa Kindt and friend Lisa Knight of Avon, SD; two sons: Dan and wife Jan Horner of Mitchell, SD; Steve and wife Pinky Horner of Storm Mountain Church Camp, Rapid City, SD; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mabel Wiechmann of Wagner, SD; and a host of nieces and nephews.
  Inez was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Nellie Horner and two brothers: Frank and Willie Wiechmann.

  Clifford F. Horner, 89, Wagner, died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Avera Holy Family Hospital, Estherville, Iowa.
   Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church, Wagner. Burial will be in ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home, Wagner, followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service at the church.

   He lived for 26 1/2 years at "Squirecrest," 5675 Sussex Road, Bloomfield Hills (Troy Co.), MI.  His father founded the firm of Vandeveer, Haggerty, Doelle, Garzia, Tonkin and Kerr, Dime Bldg., Detroit, MI  of which he later became the senior partner.  His name become so respected that today (3/18/1993), long after his death, it is still known as the "Vandeveer Firm."   In July of 1962, they moved to 2225 Burns Ave., Detroit, MI
which was in Indian Village ( across the street from George Perrot, a TV travelshow host).  After his retirement they moved to an appartment in Birmingham, on Woodward Ave. just south of Hunter Blvd. (Beresford)


Isabel Prime Waterworth

  She attended Liggett School,Northern High School,  University of Michigan - BA 1924, teacher's certificate.  She was voted the most beautiful girl in her class, was the Ensian's "Who's Who,"Girl of Distinction," she wrote lyrics for several scores, one tune and was in the chorus of the Junior Girl's Play.  Her sorority was Alpha Omicron Pi.
  After graduation, she taught for five years at Northern High School, where she had a citywide winning debate team and a statewide winner in a public speaking contest.  She taught English literature at EasternÆs Night School. She was a member of the Bloomfield Hills/Birmingham Woman's National Farm & Garden, (Past President, won state Orchid Award for forming 3 new branches: Osage, Cranbrook, Grand Marais);  the Detroit Historical Society & Woman's Society;American Association University Women;  American Red Cross (solicitation chairman, citation from US Treasury Department War Finance Program 1944; chairman Michigan Nursing Services, Certificate of Merit 1950);  Louisa St Claire Chapter, Daughter of American Revolution;  founding member of the Village Club, Bloomfield Hills and of Colony Club, Detroit.  Public Relations Chairman of the Lawyers Wives of Mich.  She enjoyed painting, traveled to all states of US with husband as well as Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Labrador, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada.  She was listed in "Who's Who of Am Women of Midwest."   Ralph Edgcomb 1917-2006
   LA SALLE - Ralph Edgcomb, 89, of La Salle, died Sunday evening, Aug. 13, at Blessings Hospital in Quincy.
   Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Burgess Funeral Home in Utica. Burial will be in Waltham Cemetery.
   Mr. Edgcomb was born March 22, 1917, in La Salle, to Stanley and Bessy (Cuthbertson) Edgcomb. He married Helen Sledgister on March 28, 1941, in La Salle. She died in 1965.
   He was a farmer and worked for Ottawa Silica Sand. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Rice River Boys.
   He is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Ben) Wallace of La Salle; three sons, Ralph J. (Mary) of La Salle, Richard (Janet) of Wyoming and Thomas (Helen) of Arizona; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a friend, Jean Zavoral of La Salle.

Charles Williams Loomis

  Charles W. Loomis Funeral Tomorrow. The Rev. John Kisselburgh will officiate at services tomorrow for Charles Loomis, 32, of Clay RD 2, who died of a gunshot wound yesterday in the Veterans Administration Hospital. Coroner Harry L. Gilmore issued a verdict of probable suicide. Mr. Loomis was employed as a press operator for the Ross Steel Co. He served in Japan during World War II and also in Korea. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Zelma Frawley Loomis; a daughter, Julie Loomis; a son, Michael Loomis; a step-son, Roderick Davis; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Loomis of Preble; two sisters, Mrs. John Harris of Detroit., Mich., and Mrs. Delbert Antil of Preble. Rites will be at the Sears Funeral Home, North Syracuse, at 2 PM tomorrow. Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM today.
