James P. Seeber
LAURENS — Mr. James P. Seeber, 82, of Laurens died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at Albany Medical Center, Albany.
He was born April 28, 1916, in Laurens, the son of Paul G. and Matilda C. (Atkins) Seeber.
  He married the former Katherine Jester on May 21, 1939. She died Oct. 5, 1983.
  Jim was employed by Ralston Purina Co. and Agway for 30 years as a truck driver. Following his retirement he became a truck driver for the village of Laurens and was also a custodian of the walks and lawns for the village.
  Jim was a member of the Laurens Presbyterian Church, where he was very active and had served on the session as well as having been a deacon at one time. A 51-year member of the Laurens Fire Department, he served as fire chief for 15 years and was awarded the Fireman of the Year Award in 1986. He currently served as a fire police captain, served on the Fire Commission and the Laurens Emergency Squad. Jim was a town councilman and had served on the Laurens Village Board for 31 years. He was a very active member of the Laurens F and AM Lodge No. 548 and became a member on March 1, 1957. Jim served as master of the Laurens Lodge in 1965 and was also a past treasurer of the Lodge. He served as a grand lodge officer serving as grand stewart in 1984 under Calvin G. Bond, grand master of the state of New York.
  Jim traveled to several Masonic Functions over the years with the late Wilmer Bresee and Earl Aldrich of Oneonta. He received the Dedicated Service Award in 1981. Jim also served as a past master of the Oneonta Lodge of Perfection and was a member of the Consistory in Binghamton AASRNMJ.
  As a pastime he enjoyed camping as well as square dancing with his close companion, Wanda Perry.
  He is survived by his four daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Leland (Betty) Scott of Schenevus, Mrs. Harry (Dorothy) Walke of Schenevus, Mrs. Mitchell (Helen) McMullen of Laurens and Mrs. Paul (Kay) Cooper of Schenevus; Jim's close friend and companion, Wanda Perry of Laurens; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Seeber of Watertown; a niece, Cynthia Fisher of Synder; a nephew, Kenneth Seeber of Lowville; six grandchildren, William Rogers, Tabatha Carrigan, Kathleen Scott, Jesse McMullen, Matthew Cooper and James Cooper; and three great-grandchildren.
  He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Seeber.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, from the Laurens Presbyterian Church, Laurens with the Rev. Harry Myers, pastor of Laurens Presbyterian Church, Laurens, officiating. Burial will be in the Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.
  Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, on Thursday at their convenience. The family will be present at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998. Laurens Fire Department will conduct a service at 7 p.m. followed by the Laurens F and AM Lodge No. 548 conducting services at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
  Expressions of sympathy may be made to either the Laurens Presbyterian Church, Laurens Fire Department or the Laurens F and AM Lodge No. 548 in memory of James P. Seeber.
  Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

  Mrs. Katherine Llewellyn, of Richfield Springs, wife of Harry Llewellyn, died October 9, 1966 in Faxton Hospital, Utica. She was born in the Town of Otsego, daughter of Karl and Bertha Atkins Brown. She attended Richfield Springs schools. She was married to Mr. Llewellyn in 1926. The couple lived in Richfield Springs until 1933 when they moved to Waterville. They returned to the area in 1957. Mrs. Llewellyn had been an employee of Duofold Co. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Waterville. Besides her husband she leaves a son, Alfred, Richfield Springs, a daughter, Mrs. Nathan (Bertha) Rogers Jr., Brookfield; a brother, Karl Brown Jr., Richfield Springs, and two sisters, Mrs. Fern Crist, Richfield Springs, and Mrs. Joseph (Ruth) Peplinski, Fly Creek. The funeral was Wednesday from the McGrath Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Gendron, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Waterville, officiating. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery.

  Harry A. Llewellyn, 76, of South Street, Richfield Springs, a former Waterville resident, died Sunday, May 29, in his home. He was born March 1, 1907, in the Town of Richfield, son of Frank and Elizabeth Snedecker Llewellyn. He married Katherine Brown on Sept. 18, 1926. She died in 1966. Mr. Llewellyn was employed by the Waterville Knitting Company from 1933 to 1955. From 1955 until his retirement in 1971, he was a supervisor at Duofold Inc. in Mohawk. He was a member of Old Presbyterian Church, Richfield Springs. Mr. Llewellyn leaves a daughter, Mrs. Nathan (Bertha) Rogers of Brookfield; a son, Alfred Llewellyn of Richfield Springs, and two sisters, Mrs. Reginald (Mary) Joslin of Richfield Springs and Mrs. Cortland (Marjorie) Scruton of Anniston, Ala. He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Guy. The funeral was Wednesday from the J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs, with burial in Lakeview Cemetery, Richfield Springs.

  West Winfield, Aug. 30. — An Ava young man and a West Winfield woman, mother of four children, were killed, and two other persons were injured, one of them seriously, Friday when a sedan failed to make a curve on the Cherry Valley turnpike, three miles east of here and went down a 15-foot bank.
  Dear are Mrs. Milton Williams 33, West Winfield who suffered a ruptured liver and right lung, and was dead when found by a passing motorist; Raymond E. Sasenbury, 20, Ava, who suffered a broken neck, ruptured liver and right lung, died at Herkimer Memorial Hospital six hours after being found.

  Alta Williams was born in Ilion, a daughter of Mrs. Delia Ackler Grann, now of Ilion, and the late Fred Ackler. She was married June 27, 1923, in Mohawk, and moved here from Mohawk last May. She was a member of the Methodist Protestant Church of South Ilion.
   Surving besides her husband and mother are four children, Dena, 15; Lucia, 14; Milton jr., 10, and Warren, 4; a sister, Mrs. Floyd Bird, West Winfield, and a nephew.

  Milton L. Williams, 64, Leorardsville, and proprietor of the Leonardsville Hotel. died Wednesday, December 24 in the hotel.
  He was born in Frankfort, son of William and Agnes Regan Williams. He married Alta Ackler who died in 1936. His second marriage was to Alice Ackler, not related to his first wife, in West Winfieild in 1945.
  Mr. Williams had lived in Leonardsville for the last four years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
  Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Dema) Fink, Cilo, Mich., and Mrs. Gordon
(Lucia) Helmer, Milford, Conn.; two sons, Warren, Schuyler Lake and; Milton Jr. Flint, Mich.; three brothers, Homer Williams and Warren Williams, both of Mohawk RD 2, and William Williams, Ilion; and a sister, Mrs. Roscoe Reed of Ioion.
  The funeral was Saturday, from the Applegate Funeral Home, Ilion, with burial next spring in North Columbia Cemetery.
