Mr. and Mrs. William Weaver, 47 Monroe Street, St Johnsville, today are observing their 50th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Weaver, the former Edna Miles, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Miles, and Weaver, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Weaver, were married on Nov. 7, 1018 at the parsonage of the Methodist Church in St. Johnsville, with Rev. Benjamin G. Miller performing the ceremony.
Mrs. Weaver taught school in rural areas before her marriage, and since that time has devoted her time being a housewife and mother. She is a member of Maquaes OES Chapter, Montgomery Rebekah Lodge, and the King's Daughters Society.
He was employed by the Palatine Dyeing Company, Inc., until his retirement in 1965. He is a member of Auskerada Lodge of Odd Fellows, and both are members of the local Methodist Church.
They are parents of two sons, Kermit and LaVerne, both of St. Johnsville. They also have six grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Weaver came to St. Johnsville soon after their marriage, and have resided on Monroe Street for 49 years.
The Weavers were honored guests at an open house in their home on Sunday, arranged by their sons and wives. Guests included members of the local OES chapter and Montgomery Rebekah lodge.

ILION -- Arthur Ray Lauer, 51, of McGowan Road, a technical accountant at Griffiss Air Force Base, died Monday in Rosewell Park Memorial Hospital, Buffalo, where he had been a patient for some time.
He was born in St. Johnsville and had been a resident for the past 40 years here, attending Ilion schools. He married Pauline Ennis here in 1948.
Mr. Lauer was a veteran of World War II and a member of Ilion Memorial Post No. 920, American Legion; the Ilion VFW Barracks, the 9th Division VFW of the New York Association and the Board of Sessions of the Ilion Presbyterian Church.
He leaves his wife, his father, Arthur Robert Lauer of Ilion; two daughters, Mrs. Peier (Gail) Paulis, Ilion, and Miss Gwen Lauer at home and a sister, Mrs. Arthur (Paula) Fury of Woodstock, N.Y.
The funeral will be at 2 Thursday from the Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Armory Hill Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today.
Contributions should be sent to the church of the family to be given to Rosewell Park Memorial Hospital in Buffalo. Members of the local VFW will conduct services at the funeral parlors at 8 tonight.

Pauline Lauer, 90, formerly of 515 Park Ave., Herkimer passed away Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer. Pauline was born February 23, 1921 in Ilion, the daughter of the late Earl and Grace Luther Ennis and was educated in the Ilion School District. On June 12, 1948 Pauline was united in marriage to Arthur Lauer in Ilion, Mr. Lauer passed away on March 29, 1971.
Pauline was employed in the cafeteria in the Ilion Schools for several years prior to her retirement she also worked at the Ilion Fish Market and during WW2 Pauline was employed with Remington Arms in Ilion. Pauline was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ilion, a Deacon of the church and a former Sunday School Teacher, a former Girl Scout leader and past president of the East Frankfort PTO for over 10 years. Paulines mission for the church was sending cards to those who were in need of them.
Pauline is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Peter Polus of Herkimer, Gwen and Bill Gahan of Ilion; a sister-in-law, Paula Fury of Tuscon, AZ; a special niece, Paula Burns of Palm Coast, FL; five grandchildren, Peter and Shaula Polus, Chad and Jennifer Polus, Heather and Mark Mosney, Garrett Conroy and fiance Tricia Paugh and Kayla Conroy and special friend, Kevin Kinink; nine great-grandchildren, Alex and Justin Swieton, Zachary, Nathaniel, Abigal and Jillian Polus, Meira and Peter Mosney, Maxwell Polus and Zackary Zaborek, and Brody Garrett Conroy; also several nephews. Pauline was predeceased by a son, Glenn A. Lauer in 1965; and her brother, Carlton Ennis.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lauer will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011, at 1:00 PM in the First Presbyterian Church Morgan Street, Ilion with Rev Victor Mc Kusick officiating. Interment will follow in the Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. Friends may call on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion.

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Gerwood (Whitey) Dodson, 63, of 8 Hough Street, died at Little Falls Hospital Sunday night shortly after being admitted.
Mr. Dodson was born in Ilion, May 7,1914 the son of Ernest and the late Susan Weaver Dodson. His family moved to St. Johnsville soon after his birth and he went to school In the town.
He married the former Amelia Klimacek Dodson Oct. 21,1939, in the Fultonville Reformed Church. He was employed for most of his working years at the H. P. Snyder Manufacturing Company, Little Falls. Mr. Dodson later worked in the construction field and retired in 1972.
Mr. Dodson has been associated with the operation of Dodson's News Room in St. Johnsville with his wife since his retirement. He was a past chief of the St. Johnsville fire department, receiving its Fireman of the Year award last year and the runnerup award for Montgomery County Fireman of the Year in the same year. He was also an
AFL-CIO member.
Survivors besides his wife are one son, Steven, at home; his father, at home; three brothers, Harold of Little Falls, Ernest Jr. of Canajoharie, and James of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters, Mrs. Donald Shults of Fort Plain and Mrs. George L. Thomas and Mrs. William B. Kramer, both of St. Johnsville; and several uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Falls.
Traditional music was played by Mrs., Susan Salvagni, organist in St. Patrick's. The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Maid of honor was Miss Joan Santalucci, Rochester, and other bridal attendants were Miss Catherine Bellen, St. Johnsville, and Miss Rosemary Pires, Norton, Mass.
John Prestopnik, Little Falls, attended his brother as best man, and ushers were Douglas James, and David Osley, the bridegroom's cousin, both of Little Falls.
The bride wore a gown of white organza with Empire waistline, trimmed with Venetian lace and white velvet ribbons, A-line skirt and a detachable train. Her veil of illusion was caught to a headpiece of organza petals and pearls and she carried a cascade bouquet of white roses and stephanotis.
The bridal attendants were gowned in maize linen with white daisy trim and wore daisy headbands and veils to match. They carried cascade bouquets of yellow roses.
The bride's mother selected for the wedding a pink knit suit with white lace accessories. The mother of the bridegroom wore aqua crepe and both had white orchid corsages.
A reception was held in the Benefit Club rooms in Klock Park following the ceremony. After a short wedding trip, the couple will reside at 126 Norwood Ave., Buffalo. For traveling, Mrs. Prestopnik wore a pink dress and coat.
The bride is a graduate of St. Johnsville Central School and Syracuse University School of Nursing and is employed as a public health nurse by the Manroe County Department of Health.
Mr. Prestopnik was graduated from Little Falls Central School, served in the United States Air Force and now is a student at State University College in Buffalo.

Donald W. Shults Sr., 73, Fort Plain, died Nov. 25, at the Albany Veterans Administration Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past four days.
Born in Fort Plain, June 19,1913, he was the son of the late William and Estella (Churchill) Shults. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Fort Plain High school. Shults was an Army veteran of World War II and had served with the amphibians in the Pacific Theater. He had been employed at the former Luxuray Mills Inc., of Fort Plain, for most of his life, serving as its superintendent for many years.
He was a member of the Fort Plain Reformed Chuch and a 40-year member of the Mohawk Valley Post No. 3275 of Fort Plain.
On Nov. 10, 1934, in St. Johnsville, he was married to the former Helen Dodson, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Donald W. Shults Jr., of Ballston Spa; three grandsons; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were conducted Nov. 29, at 11 a.m., from Swartz and Schmiedel Funeral Home Inc., Fort Plain, with Rev. Robert Vanderlaan, pastor of Fort Plain Reformed Church, officiating. Burial, with full military honors, was in Fort Plain Cemetery. Calling hours, at the funeral home, were Nov. 28. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

JOHNSVILLE— A pretty home wedding was solemnized here Saturday afternoon at 3 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Dodson, Bridge street, when their daughter, Miss Helen Dodson, became the bride of Donald William Shults, son of Mrs. Stella Shults of Fort Plain. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Royal B. Fishbeck, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of this place.
The attendants were Miss Amelia Klimacek, Little Falls, a close friend of the bride's, and Gerwood Dodson, the bride's brother. The double ring service was used, with Katherine Hambrecht of Canajoharie acting as ring bearer.
The bride was attractively gowned in brown, and carried yellow roses. Her attendant wore green crepe, and carried pink roses. Following the ceremony, a wedding dinner was served the members of the immediate families, and a few close friends and relatives.
The bride attended the local high school, and is employed in the Luxuray Mills in Fort Plain. Mr. Shults is well known in Fort Plain, and is a graduate of the Fort Plain high school. He, too, is employed in the Luxuray mills in that village.
After the wedding dinner, the newlyweds left for a wedding trip to New York City. On their return they will reside at the home of the bridegroom's mother, on Canal street, in Fort Plain.
Guests were present at the ceremony from Watertown, Fort Plain, Syracuse, Canajoharie, Little Falls, and this village.

Mindenville Man, Native of This City, Dies of Injuries Received in Motor Accident
ST. JOHNSVlLLE - Stanley G. Sheldon, 27, Mlndenville, was fatally injured Sunday morning about 5 o'clock when his light model convertable left Route 5 at the east end of the bridge over Caroga Greek three miles east of St Johnsville. The westbound machine crossed to the south side of the highway, Just missed the side of the bridge, struck and sliced off a heavy utility pole, and came to rest against a second pole and a tree.
These prevented the vehicle from continuing down an embankment into the creek.
The injured man was taken in an ambulance to Little Falls Hospital where he died at 5:45 o'clock. Dr. Raymond Wytrwal of this village, who attended at the scene and at the hospital, said death was due to compound fractures of the pelvis and right hip with internal hemorrhages. Dr. Wytrwa1, Montgomery County coroner, said there would be no autopsy and no inquest and that he would give a verdict of accidental death.
The car was almost completely wrecked and the victim was pinned fast so that those who reached the scene first had to pry away part of the maehine to extricate him. Sheldon was alone.
State Troopers Kenneth Conlin and Roger Doran of the Fonda sub-station made the investigation
at the scene.
Sheldon had been associated with his father. Millard R. Sheldon, in road building and other heavy construction work throughout Central New York.
He was born in Amsterdam, June 9, 1925, a son of Millard R. and Nellie Goodbred Sheldon. He attended school in St. Johnsville and entered the U.S. Navy in May, 1943, serving until May. 1946. A considerable part of that time was spent in the Philippines. He was a member of Starr-Colorito Post. VFW, St. Johnsville.
The survivors are his wife. Mrs. Bettie Dodson Sheldon, and one son. Stanley Glen Sheldon, also his parents, of Mindenville, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the family home in Mindenville. The Rev. Ernest Crounse of the St. John's Reformed Church will officiate. Burial will be in St. Johnsville Cemetery.
Full military honors will be accorded by members of St. Johnsville VFW and the American Legion posts. A meeting of both veteran organizations to arrange for the funeral will be held tonight in the Legion rooms.

son of Mr., and Mrs. Millard Sheldon of Mindenville, were married at the bride's home Sunday afternoon at 1. Rev. Floyd Buchhola, of St. Paul's Lutheran church performed the ceremony.
The bride waa attired in a white eyelet dress, and wore a corsage of pink roses.
Attending the young couple were Mr. and Mrs. Garwood Dodson, brother and sister-in law of the bride. Mrs. Dodson wore a blue dress, with a corsage of gardeaias.
A dinner for the wedding party and the immediate families of the young couple was served at the Antlers, West St. Johnsville.
Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon left for a two weeks' trip to the Thousand Islands and Canada. Upon their return, they will take up residence in Mindenville.
Mrs. Sheldon was graduated from St. Johnsville high school, and has been employed by the Little Falls Felt Shoe Co. In its St. Johnsville plant. Mr. Sheldon, who also attended St. Johnsville high school, recently was discharged from the Navy after more than two years' service, much of which was spent overseas. He Is employed by his father, who Is a contractor currently working on a project at Lyons Falls.

Lelah S. Claus, 81 formerly of 6622 State Highway 29, St. Johnsville and more recent of 250 State Highway 331, St. Johnsville passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005 at the Community Hospice of St. Peters Hospital, Albany where she had been a resident since March 26, 2005. She was born on March 13, 1924 in the Town of Oppenheim the daughter of the late Wesley and Edith (Bellinger) Smith.?She was educated in the Town of Oppenheim Rural Schools. She was united in marriage to her husband of 54 years Virgil C. Claus on August 21, 1940 at the Dolgeville United Methodist Church Parsonage.?Mr. Claus predeceased her on February 12, 1994. She was a member of the Oppenheim United Methodist Church.?As well as a member of the Oppenheim Senior Citizens. Mrs. Claus along with her husband operated a dairy farm on the Hoffman Road in the Town of Oppenheim for many years. She was the tax collector for the Oppenheim-Ephratah School District for over 40 years. As well as raising over 25 foster children. She is survived by her son Shawn W. Claus and his wife Debra, Oppenheim, 3 daughters Bonnie E. Myers and her husband Robert, Janey Hayes and her husband David and Kellie Fiskaa and her husband Allan, all of Oppenheim, a daughter in law Sheila Claus, Oppenheim, a brother Robert Smith and his wife Jeanette, New Smyrna Beach, FL, a sister in law Helen Smith, St. Johnsville, 20 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.? She was predeceased by 2 sons Jeffrey M. Claus, who died on July 28, 1999 and Peter K. Claus, who died on December 1, 2001, a brother Wesley Smith, a half brother Harold Ostrom, a half sister Mabel Ortlieb and a great grandson Quinn Rudisill, who died on August 14, 1996. Memorial services will be held on Monday, April 4, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. from the Oppenheim United Methodist Church, State Highway 29, Oppenheim with the Rev. Mrs. Bonnie Daley, sister of the bride, was matron of honor wearing a turquoise gown of chiffon and a matching headpiece. She carried a cascade of yellow mums. Bruce Bowers, cousin of the bridegroom, served as best man.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Crum Creek Grange hall.

Miss Roylene A. Christman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Christman of Fort Plain RD 2, became the bride of Jeffrey M. Claus, son of Nr. and Mrs. Virgil Claus of St. Johnsvlle RD 2, at a ceremony at 11 Saturday morning at the Ephratah Reformed Church. Rev. Milford Decker, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony.
Bouquets of mixed carnations decorated the altar. Mrs. Audrey Saltsman of Gloversville, organist, played "O Perfect Love" and "I Love Thee." Rev. Decker was soloist.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white Chantilly lace and organza gown over taffeta. It was designed with a circle neckline adorned with seed pearls and oat pearls, a fitted all-lace bodice, long, puffed sleeves with deep cuffs and an A-line skirt enhanced with lace appliques and a double row of scalloped lace at the hemline. A full-length detachable train, appliqued with matching lace, completed the gown. A matching bridal bonnet held her three-Layered bouffant veil of silk illusion. She carried a Colonial bouquet of red roses and lace.
Mrs. Roxanne Heroth of Ephratah was matron of honor for her sister in a white lace and pink chiffon gown and matching Dior Bow headpiece with bouffant veiling. The gown was designed with a high-rise neckline on a white venise lace fitted bodice, long, puffed lace sleeves and a soft, fluid pink chiffon skirt. She carried a Colonial bouquet of pink carnations and lace.
Mrs. Kathryn Nocito of Johnstown, attendant, wore a white lace and chartreuse chiffon gown and headpiece designed like that of the matron of honor. She carried a Colonial bouquet of green carnations. Miss Paula Edwards of Ephratah, bridesmaid, wore a white and yellow gown and headpiece and carried a bouquet of yellow carnations.
Kellie Claus of Oppenheim sister of the bridegroom, was flower girl in a white lace and orchid chiffon gown and headpiece. Her bouquet was orchid carnations.
David Smith of Lassellsville was best man. Ushers were Russell Daley, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, and Peter Claus, brother of the bridegroom, both of Oppenheim, and Jeffrey Heroth of Rockwood, cousin of the bride.
The mother of the bride wore a pink dress and coat ensemble with silver-beaded collar, silver accessories and a corsage of white roses with pink ribbon. The
mother of the bridegroom wore a blue crepe dress designed with a high neckline and puffed sleeves, silver accessories and a corsage of white roses tied with blue
ribbon.
A reception for 175 was held at the Johnstown Red Men's hall after the ceremony with the Country Gentlemen group providing music. Guests attending were from Fort Plain, St. Johnsville, Oppenheim, Ephratah , Stratford, Lassellsvilie, Caroga Lake, Webster, Dolgeville, Herkimer, Rockwood, Johnstown, Caroga Lake and Gloversville.
For a trip to upper New York State the bride wore a pink crepe and lace dress, black patent leather accessories and a corsage of white roses and pink ribbon. The couple will reside at 17 Lyons Street, Fort Plain.
Attendants were presented gifts at a rehearsal party Friday night at the home of the bride's parents.
The bride, a 1969 graduate of Johnstown High School, is employed by the Superb Glove Corp. at Johnstown. The bridegroom, a 1969 graduate of Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School, is employed at Remington Arms at Ilion.
