   The marriage of Miss Marcella Burke, daughter of Lewis and Jennie Burke, of this city and Roy Van Deusen, son of Mrs, Lula Van Deusen of Johnstown took place yeatarday afternoon at 4. The ceremony was performed at tha parsonage of ths North Main street M. E. church by the Rev. L Burlln Main.
  The bride wore a gown of dusty pink crepe with white acceasories, and a corsage of roses. She was attended by Miss Harriet Canfleld, who wore a gown of blue lace and coraage of roses. The best man was Earl Van Deusen, brother of the bridegroom.
  A reception waa held at the bride's home following the ceremony. The couple left later for a wedding trip and when they return will reside at 303 Bleecker street.
  The bride waas graduated from the Gloversville High school with the Class of 1834 and, from the Gloversville Business school in 1937 She has been employed for some time in the office of the Klngsboro Silk Mills
  The bridegroom was graduated from the Fonda High school, class  of 1813, and la employed In the 932 Gelsler  Lehr tannery in Johnsown.

  Mies Audrey Mae Burke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Burke, Fonda, and Robert Lee Pettit. son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Pettit, of Braadalbln, were married Saturday at 2 In the North Main Street Methodist church in Gloversville. The Rev. Paul Hyoon performed the double ring ceremony.
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gray pin-striped suit with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses. The matron of honor, Mrs. Harry Lewis. Broadalbin, sister of the bridegroom, was attired in a fuchsia suit with white accessries and wore a corsage of red roses.
  Richard Burke, Fonda, brother of the bride, acted as best man.
  The brde's mother wore a navy blue dress and the bridegroom's mother a black dress. Each had a corsage of sweet peas. Mrs. Williams, the church organist, provided the wedding music.
  Following the wedding, a luncheon was served at the home of the bride's parents. The couple left for a wedding trip to New York City and New Jersey.
  The bride was a member of the 1946 graduating class of the Fonda High School and la employed at the Fownes Glove Co., Fultonville. The bridegroom attended the Broadalbin High School and Is a veteran of World War II. He Is employed by the Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Co., Amsterdam.
   The couple will reside for an indefinite time with the brides parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Burke, this village. Guests were present at the ceremony from Broadalbin, Fonda, Johnstown and Gloversvllle.

  Kenneth Ford, 63, of 44 Miller Street, a retired tannery foreman, died at 12:15 yesterday afternoon at the Johnstown Hospital, where he had been a patient three days. He had been in failing health several months.
  A Johnstown native, he was born May 27,1910, son of the late William Ford and Mrs. Viola Shultz Ford of Johnstown, who survives.
  Mr. Ford, who was employed by the former Teetz Mc Kay leather Company, was a 1929 Johnstown High School graduate.
  Active in football and basketball while in high school, he also played semi-pro football for the former Knox Gelatine team and was a founder of the Johnstown Merchants Bowling League.
  He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and a former member of the Eagles Lodge. He was also a member of the Tri-City Bowling League.
  On Nov. 30, 1933 he married the former Catharine Herrick, who survives.
  Survivors, besides his wife and mother, are a daughter, Mrs. David Subik of Johnstown; three grandsons, aunts and cousins.

  Miss Catharine Ann Ford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ford of 44 Miller Street, was united in marriage to David M. Subik, of Johnson Avenue Extension, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Subik of 22 Rosewood Avenue, at 1 Saturday afternoon at St. Anthony's Church. Rev. Andrew B. Cekovjsky, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony.
   The altar of the church was decorated with white Chrysanthemums and Gladiolas. Mrs. Ann Solar, organist, played traditional wedding music.
   The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a full length gown of white velvet over taffeta desifmed with a circle neckline, fitted bodice, bracelet length sleeves trimmed with white fur and an A-line skirt with a full detachable chapel length train. Her bouffant veil of silk illusion was attached to a fur pillbox hat and she carried a bouquet of white mums and baby carnations.
   Miss Donna Fox of Johnstown, maid of honor, wore an aqua full length gown of saki and crepe over taffeta designed with a circle neckline, fitted bodice, long sleeves with a row of daisies accenting to semi-empire waistline. Her bouffant veil was attached to a crown of white pearls and daisies and she carried a bouquet of Bronze and Rust mums.
   Miss Julie Ann Burtman of Johnstown, bridesmaid, wore a gown designed the same as the maid of honor only in gold and carried a bouquet of yellow and white mums.
   Robert Wilbur of Pine Lake was best man and Phillip Palmateer of Johnstown and Michael Subik Jr., brother of the bridegroom, were ushers.
   The mother of the bride wore a pink sheath dress with a matching coat and a white feather hat and a cymbidium orchid corsage.
  The mother of the bridegroom wore an olive green wool sheath with brown accessories and a cymbidium orchid corsage.
   A reception for 75 was held from 2 to 4 in the afternoon at the home of the bride's parents. Guests attended from Johnstown. Gloversville, Endicott, New Jersey, Buffalo, Albany and Fonda.
   For her wedding trip through the New England states, the bride wore a gold wool suit, white feather hat and an orchid corsage.
   The bride is a gradaute of Johnstown High School and is employed at Gates-Mills, Inc.
   The bridegroom is a graduate of Johnstown High School and a dairy farmer.

  In a setting of summer flowers, Miss Barbara Whitbeck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Whitbeck, 16 Burr Street, and Harold Tuttle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tuttle, Second Street, were united in marriage Saturday afternoon at 1.
  The double ring ceremony was performed In Fremont Methodist Church by the Rev. Jesse S. Greene.
  As the guests arrived Mrs. John Hulzlng gave an organ recital and played the traditional wedding
marches.
  Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white nylon tuile over taffeta, fashioned with illusion neckline, lace bodice and full skirt ending in a long train. Her imported silk illusion finger tip veil fell from a half hat of pleated tulle trimmed with lilies of the valley. She carried a cascade bouquet of white carnations with a pink rose center.
  The maid of honor, Miss Cecelia Wagar, wore a gown of maize lace over taffeta fashioned with a peter pan collar and full skirt of nylon net. She wore a heart shaped matching picture hat trimmed with lilies of the valley and carried a Colonial bouquet of mixed flowers.
  The flower girl waa Jeanne Robbins who wore a gown of maize nylon marquisette over taffeta, styled with a sweetheart-shaped bonnet of matching taffeta and net. She carried a Colonial bouquet.
  The best man was Donald Dallman and the ushers, Howard Robbins and Donald Coons.
  The bride's mother wore a dress of ice blue lace over taffeta with navy accessories and a corsage of red roses. The bridegroom's mother wore a print dress with white accessories and a corsage of red roses.
  Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlors at which time the newlyweds cut a four-tier wedding cake.
  Later they left on a wedding trip to Canada and when they return will reside at 15 Burr Street. The bride's traveling outfit was a pink dress of nylon faille with white accessories. She wore an orchid corsage.
  Mrs. Tuttle was graduated from Gloversville High School, class of '52, and is employed by Leon Swears In Johnstown. The bridegroom is employed by the Peters Oil Company.
Out of town guests were from Miami, Fla., Washington, D. C., Albany, Schenectady, St. Johnsville, Utica and Red Bunch.

  Stork Shower Is Held
  Mrs. William Haltz of Palatine Bridge, formerly Vivian Miller, was guest of honor at a surprise stork shower held Monday night at the home of Mrs. Theron Miller.
  The table was centered with a three tiered cake topped with a baby shoe. Each guest was presented with a rattle, bib, and diaper made of yellow and green crepe paper.
  The 35 guests presented Mrs. Haltz with a number of useful gifts. Guests were present from Springville, Palatine Bridge, Johnstown, Gloversville and Canajoharie.

Charles Lowell Mereness

  Charles L. Mereness, 62, of 3243 McManus St., Los Angeles, Calif., died Saturday afternoon at the Veterans Administration Wadsworth Hospital there following a long illness. He was born April 5, 1919, in Canajoharie, the son of Glenn and Esther Dingman Mereness. He was married to the former Eva Miller Feb. 21, 1941 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Fort Plain. Mr. Mereness was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre as a medic with the 315th Medical Group. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was employed by the former Beech-Nut Life Savers until leaving the area in 1963 and later by Monogran Industries in Culver City, Calif. He retired because of ill health in 1974. He was of the Lutheran faith and a member of the Culver City Moose Lodge No. 1612 of which he had been a trustee for many years. Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Jeannette Shelter,, Ewa Beach, Hawaii; two sons. Lawrence Mereness, Mission Hills, Calif., and DeWayne Mereness, Fort Plain; a brother, Glenn Mereness. Little Falls; eight grandchildren: several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services held at 11 pm at the Gray Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman. pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be made in the Fort Plain Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

   Miss Martagon's wedding attendants, Edna Garrison, Sharon Grouse, Nanette Mereness and Elisa Martagon tendered her a surprise variety shower at Miss Garrison's' home at 23 Wagner St, Fort Plain. The birde-to-be received her gifts in a setting decorated in white, aqua and yellow. Game prizes were won by Gall Newcomb, Fay Garrison, Linda Kapp, Linda Dutcher and Noreen Skee, the party prize being awarded to Linda Kapp.
  Miss Martagon was the honor guest also at a greenback shower held, Sunday at the Fort Plain Fish and Game Club. The hostesses, cousins, aunts and the grandmothers of Miss Martagon and Mr. Mereness, were Mrs. Grace Miller, Mrs. Ethel Ambridge

  In a double ring ceremony at St. James' Catholic Church, Fort Plain, Saturday, July 3, at 11 a.m., Miss Maria Elena Martagon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tirso Martagon, Fort Plain, became the bride of DeWayne Glenn Mereness, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mereness, Culver City, Calif. The Rev. John J. Sullivan officiated.
  White gladioli and chrysanthemums formed the church decorations. Wedding music was provided by Mrs. Gerald Fullerton, organist, and Miss Patricia D'Arcangelis, soloist.
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, was gowned in white Chantllly lace with a scalloped neckline framed with sequins and seed pearls, fitted bodice and bouffant skirt fashioned with layers of ruffles and sequins and terminating in a chapel train. Her bouffant veil was attached to a headpiece of crystal and pearl leaves and she carried a cascade bouquet of white roses, stephanotis, baby's breath and carnations.
  Miss Elisa Martagon was her sister's maid, of honor and the Misses Jeanette Mereness, sister of the bridegroom, Nanette Mereness, cousin of the bridegroom, Sharon Crouse and Edna Garrison served as bridesmaids.
  The maid of honor wore a floor length gown of aqua peau de sole with white lace top and a matching floral headpiece with veil and carried a colonial bouquet of aqua carnations centered with a yellow carnation and baby's breath. The bridesmaids were in yellow and carried yellow carnations and baby's breath.
  The flower girl, Miss Hilda Cortes, was dressed in yellow peau de sole with matching veil and carried a basket of mixed pompons with satin ribbon streamers. Ringbearer was Robert Handy, Buena Park, Calif., a cousin of the bridegroom.
  The bridegroom had Roger May, St. Johnsville, as best man. Ushers were Lawrence Mereness, brother of the bridegroom, Tirso A. Martagon, brother of the bride, Kenneth Mereness, cousin of the bridegroom, and Thomas Duesler.
  For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Martagon chose a street length dress of yellow chiffon with yellow accessories and her corsage was of white pompons. The bridegroom's mother was in turquoise chiffon with turquoise and white accessories and a white pompon corsage.
  A reception attended by 160 guests was held immediately following the ceremony at the Iroquois Lanes Restaurant in Canajoharie where music was furnished by Vito Davi's orchestra.
  After a motor trip through southern New York, Mr. and Mrs. Mereness will leave to make their future home in Culver City, Calif. The bride wore for going away an olive green suit, white accessories and a corsage of white carnations.
  The bride is a 1965 graduate of Fort Plain, Central School. The bridegroom is a graduate of Culver City High School and was formerly employed by the Helmont Mills Inc., St Johnsville.
