Moved to Florida from Connecticut in 1959. Was a parachutist and machine gunner in World War II. Awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and Purple Heart Medal.
   Survived by son Bernard and wife Becky of Indiana, daughter Sandra Davis and husband Jim of St.  Petersburg, stepson Henry Nichols of Connecticut, and many grand children and great grandchildren

  Mr and Mrs. Ross B. Overton, Smithville, were honored at a 25th wedding anniversary party held July 26 at the Smithville Fire Hall.
  Miss Joyce Parker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker, Adams, and Ross B. Overton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Overton, Smithville, were married in Adams Center, July 26, 1941, with Rev. Ivan Cash, pastor of Adams Center and Smithville Baptist church officiating.
  Their attendants were Miss Helen Overton, now Mrs. Manford Rudd, sister of Mr. Overton, and Ivan Parker, brother of Mrs. Overton.
  Mr and Mrs. Overton have lived in Smithville since their marrage and are the parents of four children, Mrs. Judith E. Hutchins, Watertown, Mrs. Rosalyn A. Simpson, Adams; Jerrold R. and Rollins L. at home. They also have three grandchildren, Julie, Jayne, and Janette Hutchins, Watertown.

  Lawrence W. Castler
   Mr. Lawrence W. Castler, 92, of Johnstown, died on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at the Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown, following a long illness.
   He was born May 17, 1912, in Fort Johnson, a son of the late Floyd and Grace Pirie Castler.
   Mr. Castler lived most of his life in Amsterdam and was once employed at the former Bigelow Sanford Mill, until its closing he was then employed at various odd jobs until, his employment with the NYS Dept of Transportation, at its Johnstown location, he retired in 1978.
   Larry served in the National Guard in Amsterdam as a sergeant in the 105th Infantry. He then served from 1942 until 1945 with the 302nd division in Europe. He was a Gloversville City Alderman for 16 years, and the Gloversville Democratic Club honored him in March of 1999 for 40 years of service. He was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church, Johnstown, Ida McGinnis Senior Center Gloversville, where he served on the Board of Directors and as assistant treasurer, Boy Scout leader for Sir William Johnson Council, voting inspector for Gloversville, Johnstown, and Fulton County for 20 years, delivered meals on wheels at trackside and also served as president at trackside for 3 years. A member CSEA, AARP, St. Patrick's Masonic Lodge, Johnstown, where he received a distinguished service award in February 1991, Past Grand Royal Patron of Order of Amaranth of NYS, St. Monica Chapter 486, Johnstown, Capital City Court #15 Order of Amaranth, Albany, St. George Commander Knights of Templer, and Scottish Rite, Schenectady, Cypress Shrine, Albany, Royal Order of Jesters #77 Albany, Adirondack Cypress Clowns, Adirondack Shrine Club, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Schenectady, having served as Wheelman of the Shepard's several times, 7th District Royalty Club Order of Amaranth, Albany, Past Grand Royal Matron and Past Grand Royal Patrons Order of Amaranth NYS, Saratoga Chapter #116 Northern NY, Sons of Union Veterans of Civil War, Colonel G.L. Willard Camp #115 Albany, Stone Arabia Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, Gloversville.
   Survivors include his wife Jean Weaver Castler whom he married February 20, 1942; one son L. Brian (Margaret) Castler of Cheshire, MA; one daughter Jeanne (William) Jackson of Marco Island, Florida; grandchildren Sarah Campo of New Jersey, Christine Castler and Nicholas Castler of Conn., Andrea K. Jackson, Amy Jackson, and James Jackson all of Florida; Counted as final blessings great grandchildren twins Zachary and Nora Campo, Matthew Campo and Grace Campo, and Steven Hopkins; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
   He was predeceased by a brother and a sister.
   Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, Johnstown. With the Very Rev. Ted J. Monica officiating.
   Friends and family may call on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
   Spring interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill.

  Robert Edwin Weaver, age 82, of Johnstown and a former longtime resident of Lexington Avenue, Gloversville, passed into heaven at 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2010, at Albany Medical Center after a long illness.
  He was born on October 13, 1928, in Gloversville, a son of the late Edwin Weaver and Marion Foster Weaver.
  He married Bernice Johns Weaver in 1953 and she passed in 1972. Together they owned and operated the Stop In Restaurant on South Main Street in Gloversville for many years, where you had the best huge ice cream cones, fresh donuts and a 10-cent cup of coffee. He was also the service manager for the Gloversville Chevrolet Garage for many years.
  Survivors include: his daughter, Dianne (Glen) Scribner with whom he resided the past six years; one son, Richard (Esther) Weaver; two grandsons, Anthony Papini who took his grandfather for pancakes every Sunday, and Richard (Holly) Weaver; two great-grandchildren, Aslynn Weaver and Noah Weaver whom he loved to see; a loving niece, Paulette Adams, who traveled on the bus every week to see her uncle, also many cousins.
  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Ada Adams; and a brother, Melvin Weaver.
  There will be no services or calling hours in keeping with Mr. Weaver's request.
  Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
  Please remember a sweet, kind, gentle man who loved to go for walks, go to McDonald's for coffee and a cheeseburger; he said however the best coffee in town was at Applebee's and he loved his Mets. If you wish to do something in his honor, donate to your favorite charity.

 - CANAJOHARIE -~ Miss Marjorie Palmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Palmer. 181 Mohawk Street and Harvey Peter Weaver, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Weaver of McKinley, were married Saturday in St. John's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Walter Krumwiede, pastor.
  Mrs. J. Edward King, organist, played the traditional wedding music. Bouquets of mixed flowers were arranged in the altar vases.
   The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a navy blue suit with Winter white accessories and a corsage of white roses. Miss Dawn Cook, maid of honor, wore a red suit with navy blue accessories and a corsage of red roses.
   Virgil Weaver, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.
  The bride's mother Was dressed in a beige suit with brown accessories, and the bridegroom's mother wore a dress of rose print. Their corsages were yellow roses.
  A reception at the home of the bride's parents followed the ceremony. The couple spent the weekend with the bride's grandparents at their Oneonta home.
  Both attended Canajoharie Central school. She is employed at the Eastern Footwear company. Dolgeville and he Is an employee of the New York Central Railroad. They will reside with the" bridegroom's parents.

  PALATINE BRIDGE - David Weaver. 19, of East Grand Street, died yeserday in Little Falls Hospital.
  He was born in Little Falls, son of Harvey and Margery Palmer Weaver, and was a 1971 graduate of Canajoharie Centreal School.
  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Stone Arabia.
  Besides his parents he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Weaver and Miss Sherry Weaver, both
of Hudson Falls; three stepsisters, Miss Donna Schultz, Miss Debbie Schultz and Deann Schultz, all of Hudson Falls; a step-brother, Daniel Schultz, Hudson Falls; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Palmer, Canajoharie and his paternal grandmother, Mrs Hazel Weaver, Palatine Bridge.
  The funeral will be at 2 Friday from Trinity Lutheran Church Stone Arabia. Burial will be in the rural cemetery at Ephratah this spring.
  Calling hours are this evening and Thursday afternoon and evening at the Houghtaling Funeral Home.

  CANAJOHARIE — Miss Shirley Wohlgemuth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wohlgemuth, Canajoharie R.D. 1, and Ostrom Weaver, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Weaver, Palatine Bridge R.D., were married Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Canajoharie Methodist Church. The Rev. Albert M. Brockway, pastor, officiated at the double ring ceremony.
  David Luscombe, organist, played the traditional wedding marches and Mrs. Charles Pultz. Palatine Bridge, sang "I Love You Truly" and "Because." Bouquets of gladioli were used for the decorations.
  Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of Chantilly lace over satin with a fitted bodice, a Queen Elizabeth collar and a full skirt with side peplums forming a court train. Her fingertip veil of imported Illusion, trimmed with lace, was caught to a tiara trimmed with seed pearls and rhlnestones. She carried a heart-shaped bouquet of white pompons centered with yellow roses.
  Miss Carolyn Wohlgemuth was maid of honor for her sister. Her gown was yellow organdy over taffeta, with'a fitted bodice, and a full nylon net skirt. She wore a matching yellow hat and carried a heart-shaped bouquet of orchid asters.
   Mrs. William Dillenbeck Jr., sister of the bridegroom, and Mrs. LKenneth Putman, New Egypt, N J., were bridesmaids. Their gowns were of powder blue and ice blue nylon net, respectively, over taffeta. They wore stoles, gloves and headpieces with shoulder length veils matching their gowns. They carried heart-shaped bouquets of yellow pompons.
   Virgil Weaver, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Harvey Weaver," another brother", and Sgt, Kenneth Putman, New Egypt, NJ., ushered.
  The bride's mother wore a black faille suit with matching accessories and a corsage of yellow roses. The bridegroom's mother wore s navy blue crepe dress with navy accessories and a corsage of white pompons.
  A reception at the Canajoharie American Legion Home followed the ceremony.
  The bride wore a wine-colored suit with black accessories and a corsage of' yellow roses for the wedding trip. The couple will reside with the bridegroom's parents In the Town of Palatine where he Is engaged In farming with his father.
  The bride and bridegroom both attended Canajoharie High School. She is employed by the Allegro shoe factory, St. Johnsville.

  CANAJOHARIE - Howard E. Edick, 32, of Palatine Bridge, died yesterday at Little Falls Hospital after a long brief illness.
  Born at Little Falls Mr. Edick was a bus driver for the Canajoharie Central School. A graduate of Utica State College, he was an Air Force veteran. Mr. Edick was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Stone Arabia.
  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hazel Weaver Edick; two daughters, Sheila and Jodi Edick; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Edick of Fort Plain; two brothers, James Edick of Little Falls and Robert Edick of Ilion; two sisters, Mrs. Homer Fletcher of Fords Bush and Mrs. James Critser of Little Falls; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Miller of Little Falls. Several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

  The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Harvey Weaver. She was attended by her sister, Miss Gertrude-Weaver as maid of honor. Bridal attendants were Miss Norma. Weaver and Mrs. Sadie Dillenbeck, Palatine Bridge, also sisters of the bride, and Miss Pamela Weaver, Fort Plain, the bride's, niece. Joanne Dillenbeck, also the bride's niece, served as flower girl.
  James Edick, Little Falls, was best man tor his brother. Ushering were Robert Edick of Fort Plain, another brother of the bridegroom. Theodore Siegel, Little Falls, brother-in-law of the' bridegroomr and George Frasier, Fort Plain. Master Robert Crasher, the bridegroom's nephew, was ring bearer.
  A reception was held in the Palatine Union Grange Hall after which-the couple left on a trip to South Carolina.
   The bride is employed by Beech Nut Life Savers, Inc., Canajoharie.;
  Her husband is employed in Philadelphia, Pa.

  Wedding music was played by Hugh P. Donlon and during the ceremony, Miss Mary Ziemendorf sang "Ave Maria", Gounod, "Panis Angelicus", Franck, and "Mother Beloved." Lord.
  The bride, given In marriage by her father, was gowned in white lace over satin, ballerina length, and wore a veil of pinpoint lace caught to a crown of sequins and Thinestones. She carried white orchids, white roses and lilies of the valley on a mother of pearl prayer book.
  The maid of honor was Miss Diana Clark, who wore a ballerina length gown of white crystallette with mint green sash, crown and veil. She carried a colonial bouquet of white roses and a mint green orchid.
  The bridegroom's niece. Miss Johann Ferlazzo, was flower girl. She was dressed as a miniature bride in white lace with a white crown and veil and carried a bouquet of white baby orchids.
  Joaseph Ferlazzo attended his brother as best man and Anthony Ferlazzo, another brother, ushered.
  A reception was held at Robertshaw's Drum following which Mr. and Mrs. Ferlazzo left on a wedding trip to Niagara Falls and Canada. For her traveling costume, the bride chose an aqua linen dress, biege hat and a corsage of white orchids.
  The couple will reside at 56 James St.
  The bride is a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School and is employed in the office of teh Chalmers Knitting Co.
  Mr. Ferlazzo, also a Wilbur H. Lynch High School graduate, is now serving in the armed forces and is stationed at Fort Dix, N.J.
  Guests were present at the wedding from Kingston. Schenectady, Brooklyn. Fort Johnson, Flat
Creek and St. Johnsville.
