  ST. JOHNSVILLE—Mrs. Dorothy J. Kretser, 64, of 2 Crouse St., Fort Plain, wife of Carl Kretser, died late Wednesday afternoon at her home. She had been in ill health about a year. She was born in Gloversville on Nov. 4, 1903, a daughter of Edward and Alice Hibbard Gray.
  Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Mrs. James Dutcher and Mrs. Joseph DiStefano, both of Fort Plain; three granddaughters; two brothers, Harold Gray Sr., Oppenhelm, and William Gray, St. Johnsville; one aunt, nieces and nephews.
  Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock from the Smith Funeral Home, St. Johnsville. Interment will be in West St. Johnsville Cemetery.

  Services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the H. C. Smith funeral home for Carl Kretser, 71, who died unexpectedly Sunday in his home, with the Rev. H. T. Hillbrands, pastor of Fort Plain Reformed Church officiating.
  Born in the Town of Ephratah, on Aug. 22, 1899, he was the son of Homer and, Carrie Duesler Kretser He married Dorothy
Gray who died July, 1968.
  He was a retired employee of the New York State Department of Public Works.
  Survivors, include two daughters, Mrs. Joseph DiStefano and Mrs. Linda Dutcher, both of Fort Plain; three granddaughters; three brothers, Jason, Ephratah; Roy, RD, Fonda and Kenneth, Fort Plain; two sisters, Mrs Florence Henza, Fort Plain and Mrs. Leona Putman, Pattersonvilie; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
  Interment was made in the West St. Johnsville cemetery.

  Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kretser of Palatine Church were the quests of honor at a surprise anniverary last Sunday.
  It was on May 1, 1920 that Mr. and Mrs. Kretser [sic] and Miss Dorothy Gray were united in marriage by the late Rev. Mc Crone. Pastor of Grace Church. They are the parents of two daughters, Carol and Linda Lou.
  Luncheon was served out-of-doors, featuring a large anniversary cake.
  Mr. and Mrs. Kretser were presented with gifts. They have the best wishes of their friends for many more such happy occasions.
  Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gray and children, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gray, Mr. Kenneth Gray, Mr. and Mrs. William Gray and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Young, Pvt. 1st class Robert Gray (U, S. Marine Corps) who just returned from a tour of duty of Korea and is home on a 30 day furlough, Miss Roberta Schuerman, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Campione and children.

  Rev. Jack Hilbrands, pastor of that church, performed the ceremony, Mrs. Marion Canfield played wedding music on the organ.
  The bride was given in marriage by her father.
  After the ceremony, a reception was held at Old Mill Inn on Route 5.
  The bride attended Fort Plain Central School and Mohawk Community College in Utica. The bridegroom was graduated from Fort Plain Central School and attended the Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica.
  He is associated in the management of the C. G. Dutcher and Sons Shoe Store in Cooperstown.

  Fort Plain - Miss Carol Kretser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kretser, St. Johnsville RD, and Joseph Di Stefano, Fort Plain, were married at 2 Saturday afternoon at the home of the bride's parents.
  Rev. Herman Briele, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, performed the double ring ceremony. The home was decorated with gold and white crepe paper with assorted cut flowers.
  The briede, given in marriage by her father, wore a waltz length gown of pastel taffeta with a tightly fitted bodice with a low rounded neckline. she wore a small lace hat and corsage of red and white roses interspersed with white baby breath.
  Mrs. Judith Gray, St. Johnsville RD, cousin of the bride, was the matron of honor. She wore a waltz length gown of pink chiffon over pink taffeta with thghtly fitted bodice with a high rounded neckline. She wore a small lace bridal hat and a corsage of pink flowers.
  Robert Gray, St. Johnsville RD, cousin of the bride, was the best man.
  The bride's mother selected a street length navy blue crepe dress with white accessories and a corsage of white mums, The bridegroom's mother wore a street length dress of pink summer cotton and dacron with white accessories and a corsage of white mums.
  A reception was held at the home. A buffet luncheon was served at which the couple cut a three tier cake. About 30 guests attended from St. Johnsville, Canajoharie, Fort Plain, Little Falls. The couple left on a wedding trip. For traveling the bride chose a pink cotton street length dress with white accessories and a corsage of red and white roses. Upon their return they will make their home with the bride's parents. At a rehearsal party Friday night they gave their attendants personal gifts.
  The bride attended St. Johnsville Central School. The bridegroom attended the Fort Plain Central School and St. Mary's Catholic School, Little Falls. He is affiliated with his father in the Frank Di Steffano and Son Construction Company, Fort Plain.

  On Saturday evening at 9 o'clock, Miss Ruth M. Marsh, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Marsh, became the bride of William H. Gray.
  This event was the first ceremony performed in the redecorated St. Paul's Church. The rector, Rev. John B. Arthur, performed the ceremony in the presence of a small circle of friends. The attendants were Bruno Andreas and Ruth Parker. The groom came to Waterloo from St. Johnsville about a year ago and is employed at the Andrews farm on the North road. The bride attended the Waterloo schools and is a native of the town of Waterloo, and active in Rose Hill Grange.
  After a brief trip the young couple expect to make thier home at 55 Washington street, this village.

  The bride was given in\ manage by her brother, Melvin Gray of Waterloo. Ms. Karen Dingman, Amsterdam, was maid of honor.
  Warren Greene of Johnstown was best man.
  Following the ceremony, a reception for 45 persons was held at the Beardslee Manor, East Creek.
  The wedding trip will be taken in October.
  The couple is residing at 116 South Market St., Johnstown.
  The bride is a graduate of St. Johnsville Central School and attended Fulton-Montgomery Community College. She currently is employed by Continental Telephone Company of Upstate New York.
  The bridegroom, a graduate of Gloversville High School and St. Lawrence University, is employed as corporate internal auditor by Coleco Industries, Inc.

  PERTH - Leland M. Kraft Sr., 58, of Perth Road, Amsterdam RD, a former Amsterdam city engineer, died at 12: 30 Monday afternoon at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital shortly after being admitted. He was taken to the hospital after suffering a heart attack at his home.
  He was born Aug. 26, 1915, in St. Johnsville, the son of Otto and Elizabeth Weaver Kraft. He had resided in the Fulton County area since 1930. He had attended St. Johnsville schools and graduated from Gloversville High School.
  Mr Kraft had received a Bachelot of Science degree from Tri-State University, Angola, Ind. and was a self-employed civil engineer by occupation, working from his residence.
  He married the former Doris Snyder of Gloversville, who survives in 1940.
  Mr. Kraft served with the Army in the states and in Hawaii in the 1930s and at the outbreak of World War II enlisted with the Navy Seabees and served in Guam and the Attu Islands. He was discharged with the rank of carpenter's mate, first class with the Seabees.
  He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers; the American Public Works Associaton and the American Water Works Association.
  Survivors besides his wife are two sons, Leland Kraft Jr. of Houston, Tex., and Charles Kraft of Akron, Ohio; a brother, Fred Kraft of Gloversville; a half-brother, Paul Smith of Gloversville; two granddaughters, an aunt, an uncle, a niece, a nephew and several cousins.

  Mr. Paul Edward Smith, 85, of Gloversville died Thursday at Nathan Littauer Hospital. He was born August 5, 1919 in St. Johnsville to Edward P. and Elizabeth Weaver Smith. Moving to Gloversville in 1930, Paul graduated from Gloversville High School in 1937 and began his banking career at City National Bank. Interrupting his career to serve his country, in 1942 he enlisted in the Navy receiving initial training at Newport, R.I. He then served at the Naval Operating Base in Casablanca, French Morocco. He later returned to Naval Reserve Midshipman School at Fort Schuyler, N.Y. and was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Paul was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon and the Victory Ribbon. Returning to his banking career at City National Bank where he became president, Paul retired in 1983. A member of North Main Street United Methodist Church, he also served on the Administrative Board and Board of Trustees of the church. Always community and civic minded, Paul was also past president of the YMCA, served on the Economic and the Industrial Development corporations. He was a member of Pine Brook Golf Club, Fulton County Republican Club, a former member of the Eccentric Club, board member of the Fulton Friendship House, and a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. He and his wife Marina enjoyed several years wintering in Port St. Lucie, Florida, where they established many friendships.
   Survivors include his wife: Marina Petoff Smith whom he married October 4, 1953, a daughter, Penna E. Smith of Johnstown; daughter-in-law Teresa Smith of Lake Luzerne; granddaughter, Jennifer L. Smith of Gloversville; three grandsons, Paul Orlosky, Nicholas Orlosky and Alexander Orlosky, all of Johnstown. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and Mahasti Pourdastan Lease, foreign exchange daughter (1975-1976) from Iran sponsored by the American Field Service, currently living in Oakton, Va. He was predeceased by his son Edward C. Smith in 1995, brothers, Leland and Fred Kraft, and his parents. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday 11 a.m. from the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, with Reverend Christopher Hamm, Pastor of North Main Street United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends Monday 1:30-3:30 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the North Main Street United Methodist Church, 316 North Main Street, Gloversville or to the Gloversville Free Library, 58 East Fulton Street, Gloversville.

  Bertram C. Ruller
   Bertram C. Ruller, age 87, of Gloversville, died Thursday at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home in Gloversville. Born October 5, 1916, in St. Johnsville, NY, he was the son of Milo and Carrie Weaver Ruller. He was a graduate of Gloversville High School and was a life long area resident.
   Mr. Ruller was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran.
   Mr. Ruller was employed as a bookkeeper and an accountant for several area businesses for over 40 years.
   He was a member of the Scared Heart Church of Gloversville and the Holy Name Society and the Couples Club of the church. He was also a lecter for the Sacred Heart Church and the Auriesville Shrine. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2077, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, the Kateri Tekakwitha League of the Auriesville Shrine and the former Ida L. McGinnis Senior Citizens Club.
   On October, 23. 1917, he married the former Monique Vallieres.
She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Robert C. Ruller and his wife, Sandy of Fairport, NY; and John M. Ruller and his wife Gina of Gloversville; 5 grandchildren, David, Douglas, Robert, Jeffrey and Jonathan Ruller; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
   He was predeceased by 1 brother, Vernon Ruller;1 grandson, Michael Ruller; and his former wife, Edna Brott Ruller who died on December 28, 1968.
   There will be no prior visitation at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church of Gloversville. Interment will take place at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery of Johnstown. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Assn. or the American Cancer Foundation. Arrangements are by the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville.

  Paul E. Ruller, 54, of Schenectady died unexpectedly Friday morning, Nov. 5, at Ellis Hospital. Born in Gloversville, Paul was the son of Hope (Carr) Ruller of Gloversville and the late Jacob Ruller. An employee of the city of Schenectady, Paul was a longtime president of the civil service union. He started in 1988 as a Schenectady police dispatcher, then became president of the city unit of Local 847 in 1991. Paul transferred to the Department of Neighborhood Revitalization in August of 1999, where he worked in property management. A Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a lifelong area resident. Besides his mother, Paul is survived by his wife, Linda (Nedosko) Ruller. They were married June 26, 1976. He is also survived by his children, Abigail Ruller and Matthew Ruller, both of Schenectady. He is survived by his three brothers, Thomas Ruller of Gloversville, Ricky Ruller of Littleton, Colorado, and Jimmy Ruller of Lehi, Utah. He is survived by his sister Mary Ruller of Gloversville, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at Bond Funeral Home on Broadway & Guilderland Avenue in Schenectady. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Contributions may be made in Paul's memory to the American Heart Association at 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.

  Ralph Viola was best man. Ushers were Richard Ruller, brother of the bridegroom, and Carl Leo and Charles Renda, all of Gloversville.
  A reception attended by 150 persons was held at the Country Club, Scotia.
   The bride, a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, is employed by New York Telephone Company, Schenectady. The bridegroom is a graduate of Gloversville High School and is serving with the Marine Corps in Norfolk, Va.
  After the wedding trip to New York City, the couple took up residence at 21 Eagle Street, Schenectady.

  Mrs. Ida M. Paul Miles, age 65, a former longtime Gloversville resident, died Friday, April 13, 2007, at her home in Broadalbin.
  She was born September 1, 1941, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Franklin and Florence Baird Paul. She lived in Gloversville most of her life and had resided in Broadalbin for the past 15 years. She enjoyed crocheting and was a faithful Elvis Presley fan.
  Ida is survived by her husband, Edgar W. Miles, whom she married on October 21, 1960. Additional survivors include two children, Penny Lynn Wilson (Christopher) of Gloversville and Brian E. Miles of Broadalbin; four siblings, Fred Paul (Winona) of Gloversville, Florence Handy (Ernest) of Ephratah, and Franklin Paul and Ronald Paul of Gloversville; three grandchildren, Sherry Miles, Ronald Miles and Cody Wilson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Cheryl Paul and Joyce Steenburg.
  The family will receive relatives and friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.   Helen Dinehart, 82, of Flat Rock, NC, passed away on May 8, 2004 from complications of congestive heart failure. She was born on April 23, 1922 in Scotch Bush, NY but moved to Gloversville, NY at the age of four where she attended public school, married and raised her family.
   She was a glove maker who worked out of her home for several different companies in the area including Goodheim, Rubin and Sons and George Johns. Her gloves were distributed and sold throughout the world.
   Her hobbies and interests included music, sewing, her pets, card playing, bowling. She was a member of the Pinetree Bowling League for many years and acquired friendships through the sport that lasted for more than 40 years.
   She moved to a retirement community in Flat Rock, NC three years ago where she made new friends and enjoyed life in the western Carolina mountains.
   She was predeceased by an infant brother and sister; her parents, Lester and Amanda Weaver; and her husband of 61 years, Clinton Dinehart.
   She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Dinehart of Hopewell Junction, NY and Judith Dinehart of Savannah, GA; and her beloved dog Sassy.
   There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. The Rev. Timothy Behrendt of the First Universalist Society, Salisbury Center, NY will officiate. Burial will follow at the Fical Cemetery, Scotch Bush.
   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231-4596.

  Clinton G. Dinehart, 81, of Gloversville, died Monday at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after a long illness.
   Born Aug. 17, 1917, in Scotch Bush, he was the son of George and Alice Cretser Dinehart. He lived in the Town of Johnstown and attended Dolgeville Central School.
   He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force.
   Mr. Dinehart was a superintendent at Johnstown Tanning Corp. prior to his retirement.
   He was of the Free Methodist faith and a former member of the Pine Tree Bowling League.
   Mr. Dinehart married Helen Weaver April 29, 1937.
   In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Barbara A. Dinehart of Hopewell Junction and Judith A. Dinehart of Savannah, Ga.; a sister, Blanche Monk of Scotch Bush; a brother, Robert Dinehart of Herkimer; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
  The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home Inc. 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Rev. Charles W. Saum officiating.
   Interment will be in Fical Cemetery, Scotch Bush.
