 - Marrage Announcement ( Amsterdam Evening Recorder, Thursday, August 27, 1925)
  The marriage of Frederick Richey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Richey of this city, and Margaret Virginia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Mabon of Teller's station, took place Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of the bride's parents. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dr. Alvah E. Knapp in the presence of the immediate families and a few intimate friends of the young people.
  The house was prettily decorated, the prevailing color scheme being pink and white. Hydrangeas and  ferns banked the spot where the ceremony was held. The wedding march was played by Miss.Virginia Criscuolo as the bridal party entered the room.
   Miss Helen Richey, sister of the [bridegroom, was maid of honor, and Frederick Frisch was best man. The bride's gown was of white satin with an over dress of striped white silk net, and she carried a shower bouquet of-brlde's roses. The maid of honor wore a gown of peach colored crepe and carried an arm fboaquet of Butterfly roses.
  Following the ceremony a buffet luncheon was served, after which the bridal couple left for a ten days' automobile trip. They will make their home, upon their return, with the bride's parents.
 The bride was a member of the class which was graduated from the High school last June, and was also a member of the school dramatic club. The bridegroom is an employee of the Amsterdam Lumber company. Both have many friends who unite to wish them happiness.
   Gifts of linen, silver and money were among those with which the bride has been showered. To her bridesmaid she gave a set of lingerie pins with chains of pearls, and to Miss Criscuolo a bracelet. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a bracelet studded with sapphires and brilliants, and. the best man received a set of gold cuff links.

  Roger J. Mitchell, 65, of 421 East Main St., died Sunday morning at 3:30 in St Mary's Hospital where he had been a patient one day.
  Mr. Mitchell was born in Amsterdam Nov. 10, 1905, a son of Frederick and Margaret Tarmey Mitchell, and always resided in the Amsterdam area. He was employed for 35 years in the spinning department of the Mohawk Carpet Mills, retiring nine years ago, and was a member of the Mohasco Quarter Century Club. He attended St. Mary's Church.
  Survivors are his wife, the former Helen Richey, whom he married July 27, 1934; one son, Frederick J. Mitchell, Amsterdam; two daughters, Mrs. John L. Bramer and Miss Mary E. Mitchell, Amsterdam; one sister, Mrs. James Dreaney, Amsterdam; three grandchildren, Kelly Anne, Kevin Lee and Jonathan Duane Bramer, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

  Funeral services will be Saturday morning for Leland J. Richey, 48, of 113 Chapel Place, who died yesterday as the result of a gunshot wound.
  Richey, a member of the Amsterdam Fire Dept. for 12 years, died yesterday afternoon when a 12-gauge shotgun he was cleaning accidentally discharged and struck him in the chest.
  Police said Richey was found in his garage by his wife, who went to look for her husband when he did not come in to lunch. He was taken to Amsterdam Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival at 12:40 p.m.
  Police said that in addition to the shotgun they found a cleaned 30-30 rifle in the garage.
  Montgomery County Coroner Fred F. Pipito issued a verdict of accidental death.
  Mr. Richey was born in Amsterdam Feb. 21, 1923, a son of Harry and Louisa Sturm Richey and attended local schools. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of Trinity Reformed Church and was appointed to the Amsterdam Fire Dept. Jan. 3, 1959. He was stationed at the Central Fire Station.
  Mr. Richey served as secretary-treasurer of the Amsterdam Permanent Firemen's Assn. and was an executive member of the New York State Permanent Firemen's Assn.
  Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Snyder; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Cuckoo, Amsterdam, and Mrs. Dennis Kosinski, England; two sons, Bruce A. Richey, Ballston Spa, and Leland Richey Jr., Amsterdam; a brother, Fred Richey, Glen; two sisters, Mrs. Roger Mitchell and Mrs. Francis Young, Amsterdam; three grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
  Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Riley Mortuary with the Rev. John D. Elliott of the Trinity Reformed Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
  Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Arrangements are by the Sargalis Funeral Chapel.

  GLOVERSVILLE — Funeral services for Town of Bleeker Supervisor Eugene D. Richey, 62, of Bleecker Stage, who died yesterday at Littauer Hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home by the Rev. Paul H. Wilson.
  Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Burial will be in Bleecker Cemetery.
  Mr. Richey was senior member of the Board of Supervisors in Fulton County. He was a supervisor 19 years and was chairman of the board in 1962. His first term on the board began in January 1954 and he was elected a total of 10 terms as Republican supervisor from the Town of Bleecker.
  He was serving as chairman of the tax and assessment committee and during his years on the board served on almost every committee. He also served on the highway, judiciary and correction; natural resources, public health and reapportionment committees.
  Mr. Richey waa employed by the State Conservation Department as ranger at the Caroga Lake Campsite.
  Ill a long time, he was a patient at the hospital five weeks. He was born in Gloversville and lived in Bleecker 30 years.
  Mr. Richey was a member of Kingsborough Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of Bleecker Fish and Game Club and the Fulton County Republican Club.
  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Irene Richey; a daughter, Mrs. Sally String of Gloversvi1le: a stepdaughter, Mrs. Phyllis Baird of Gloversville; a stepson, Richard Helwig of Gloversville; a sister, Miss Doris Richey of RD Gloversville; nine grandchildren , a greatgrandchild and several cousins.

  ST. JOHNSVILLE- Robert Paul Crouse, Sr.78, of 6 North Division St. passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012 at home with his loving family by his side. Robert was the son of Evelyn Crouse Haggerty and the step-son of Leland Haggerty.
  Mr. Crouse served three years in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War, being stationed in Guntanemo Bay, Cuba. The Marine Corp remained very important to him throughout his life. A resident of St. Johnsville since the age of 14, he was a very active person, having been a member of the St. Johnsville Fire Dept. since 1955 and served as both 1st and 2nd Asst. Chief. He also served as a deputy County Fire Co-ordinator, a position he was real proud of. Another joy of his was when he went to the Elementary School during Fire Prevention Week to talk to the students.He was a member of the American Legion for 56 years, serving several years as their commander. He was a member of St. Johns Reformed Church and served the Church as both a Deacon and an Elder as well as a member of their choir. His faith was a very important part of his life and helped him greatly when he became so ill. Robert served as a part-time police officer for the Village of St. Johnsville and he also coached baseball for Babe Ruth. Robert was employed at Palatine Dye both prior to and after returning from his duty in the Marine Corp. , Beech-Nut in Canajoharie and until his retirement, the NYS Canal System.
  Robert is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Karen VanGorder Crouse. He was the proud father of six children, Paula Crouse Wall (Jody), Palatine Bridge, Robert Paul Crouse, Jr, (Deborah) of Canajoharie, Teri Crouse Muchow (Wayne) of Fayetteville, Ga, Cindy Crouse Oertel (Peter) , of Raleigh , North Carolina, Aaron Crouse (Michelle) of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Alice Crouse Smith (Larry) of Palatine Bridge, NY.He was also the proud grandfather of eleven grandchildren, Krystle and Joshua Crouse, Samantha and David Wall, Megan, Tiffany, and April Muchow, Peter and Matthew Oertel, and Dylan and Hunter Smith. . He also had a God Daughter, Corinne Mueller of Duanesburg and a step-sister, Katherine May. Mr. Crouse was pre-deceased by his mother, Evelyn Haggerty.and step-father, Leland Haggerty.
  The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St, St. Johnsville from 2-4 & 7-9pm on Sunday, March 11, 2012. A Fire Dept service and American Legion service will be held during the evening calling hours. A religious service will be held at St. Johns Reformed Church at 11am on Monday, March 12, 2012. Procession will follow to West St. Johnsville Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.   ST. JOHNSVILLE — St. John's Reformed Church was the setting for the wedding of Miss Karen Nita Van Gorder anD Robert Paul Crouse, which was solemnized on Saturday, Aug. 26. at 3 p.m.
  The Rev. Robert Geddes, pastor, performed the double-ring ceremony in the church, which was decorated with candelabra, white candles and baskets of white gladioli. Mrs. Howard Cole played the wedding march. Also heard were "Because" and "At Dawning." The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Van Gorder, 9 Ann St.. St. Johnsville. and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Haggerty, North Division 'St., this village.
  Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride was attired in a gown of Chantilly lace and nylon tulle over satin, an Alfred Angelo original. The bodice was designed in long torso lines and fitted pointed bodice with Queen Anne collar trimmed with crystal beads, with long, pointed sleeves ending at the wrists. The bouffant skirt was designed with multiple-skirted tiers of nylon edged with lace and ended in a cathedral-length train. The headpiece was a miniature sized queen's crown of pearls and sequins caught to a ballerina length veil of English imported illusion embroidered with satin cording. She carried a bouquet of white pompons and stephanotis centered with white roses in the shape of double wedding rings and attached to a white brocaded purse, which was a gift to the bride.   
   Miss Donna Van Gorder, sister of the bride, attended her as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Imogene Nichols, sister of the bride; Mrs. Diane Burkdorf, Miss Jacqueline Green and Miss Carol Manclow, all friends of the bride; and Miss Sharon Fitzpatrick, St. Johnsville. Ring bearers were Robert Van Gorder, nephew of the bride, and Craig May, nephew of the bridegroom. Glen Nichols Jr. Little Falls, nephew of the bride, acted as train-bearer.
  Robert Sullivan. St. Johnsville, was best man. while the ushers were William Van Gorder of California, brother ot the bride: Glen Nichols. Little Falls, brother-in-law of the bride: George Haggerty, St. Johnsville, cousin of the bridegroom, and Richard Burkdorf. St. Johnsville, a friend of the bridegroom.
  The maid of honor was attired in a gown of pink over taffeta with a strapless bitted bodice, shirred front and a full, streetlength skirt trimmed with, appliqued velvet leaves in contrasting colors. She carried a bouquet of pompons in colors of orchid and white fashioned in a double ring effect. The bridesmaids were attired in the same manner as the maid of honor in colors of orchid and carried flowers of pink pompons also fashioned in double ring design. The flower girls were dressed in gowns of pink and orchid and carried baskets filled with vari-colored pompons and carnations.
  The bride's mother chose a gown of lavender-pink lace with matching hat and white accessories and a corsage of white roses. The hridegroom's mother was attired in a pink nylon lace dress with matching hat, white accessories and a corsage of white roses.
  The wedding reception was held in the Anieriean Legion rooms. St. Johnsville, with about 350 persons attending. Music was furnished by the Rhythm Masters of Johnstown.
  Upon their return from a honeymoon trip to Virginia mid South Carolina the couple will reside at 16 East Liberty St., here.
  For traveling, the bride chose a beige, two-piece suit trimmed in burnt orange and a corsage of
pompons.
  Mrs. Crouse is a graduate of St. Johnsville Central School, class of 1958, and is employed in the laboratories of the Palatine Dyeing Co. here. The bridegroom, formerly of Gloversville. attended the Gloversville and St. Johnsville schools, served four years in the Marine Corps and is now also employed by the Palatine Dyeing Co.

Mrs. Samek was a glovemaker for the former Crescendoe Glove Co.
She later worked in the kitchen at the Fulton County Infirmary.
She retired from the Tryon School, Perth, in the late 1970s.
Mrs. Samek attended the former St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
She was a member of the Fulton County Republican Club.
Survivors include a son, James Samek of Johnstown; two daughters, Margaret Diana
of Gloversville and Shirley Staedeli of Cary, N.C.; two sisters, Dora Ford of
Albany and Evelyn Haggerty of St. Johnsville; a brother, Harold Crouse of
Johnstown; her companion, Nick Cooper of Johnstown; eight grandchildren; and
four great-grandchildren.
Cremation will take place at Vale Crematory in Schenectady.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Infirmary.
Arrangements are by the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St.

  Harold Crouse, 80, formerly of Riceville Road, Gloversville, died Saturday, Jan. 27, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.  He was born August 1, 1926 in St. Johnsville, the son of Elmer and Harriett Martin Crouse.  
   He worked for the Johnstown Water Dept., then as a leather worker for Johnstown Leather for 30 years, retiring in August 1988.
  He was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the ACTWU No. 1712 Leather Workers Union. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and he loved playing cards. He also was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan.
  He was married to the late Betty Razzano on Jan. 12, 1957, and she died Dec. 18, 1992.
  He is survived by 2 daughters, Jan E. Olmstead (Randy) of Mayfield and Deborah A. Smimmi (Bill) of Gloversville; 3 sons, Harold L. Ruch Crouse Jr. (Pamela) of Johnstown, Jeffery L. Crouse Sr. (Fran) of Johnstown; Gregory A. Crouse Sr. (Jennifer) of Gloversville; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
  He was predeceased by one brother; and five sisters; and a son, Robert Crouse. He was also predeceased by his dog, Elf.
 The funeral will be on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher St., Johnstown, with Rev. R.W. Williams, chaplain of Mt. Valley Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

  The First Presbyterian Church in Johnstown was the scene of the wedding of Miss Betty Razzano, dayghter of Mr. and Mrs. John Razzano of that village, and Harold Crouse, son of Mrs. Elmer Crouse of Gloversvill. Rev. Raymond A. Ketchledge officiated at the evening ceremony, held on Jan. 12.
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of yellow satin and net. Her flowers were pink carnations. Miss Nancy Houser, maid of honor, was in a gown of royal blue satin and her bouquet was similar to the bride's. Miss Mary Razzano, sister of the bride, served as bridesmaid, wearing a gown of green satin and net and carrying yellow mums.
  Blanche Razzano was flower girl for her sister, and Larry Razzano, brother of the bride was the ring bearer.
  John Razzano, also a brother of the bride, served as best man and Edward Moore ushered.
  A reception for approximately 100 guests followed at the home of the bride.
  Mr. and Mrs. Crouse will reside at 7 McMartin street, Johnstown. The bride is a graduate of Johnstown high school and the bridegroom a graduate of Gloversville high. He is employed by Clarence Cromer, trucking firm.

  GLOVERSVILLE — Funeral services for Mrs. Alma D'Ambrosi, 36, of 9 Grand street, who died late Tuesday night at a Utica hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Cole funeral home, Johnstown.
  REV. RICHARD E. Shemenske of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Johnstown, will officiate. Burial will be in Fern Dale cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
  Born Dec. 23,1927 in the Town of Johnstown, she had been hospitalized seven months and in failing health two years. She was last employed as a waitress at the Tower Restaurant, Waterbury, Conn.
  Survivors are her husband, Louis D'Ambrosio, two daughters, Miss Sharon D'Ambrosio and Miss Tina D'Ambrosio; a son, David D'Ambrosio; her mother, Mrs. Harriet Martin Crouse; four sisters, Mrs. Dora Ford of Albany, Mrs. Leland Haggerty of St. Johnsville, Mrs. Margaret Samek and Mrs. Michael Zilka, both of Johnstown; two brothers, Raymond Crouse of Albany and Harold Crouse of Johnstown.


Louis D'Ambrosi

 - Death Announcement (Amsterdam Evening Recorder, NY, Monday, July 21, 1969)
  A Gloversville man was one of three persons killed in a two-car collision about 9:30 a on. Sunday on Route 9H in the Columbia County Town of Claverack.
   State Police identified the dead as Louis D'Ambrosi, 43, of Gloversville; and two sisters, Ann Van Wagenen, 11, and Diane Van Wagenen, 3, both of Williamstown, Mass.
   Eight other persons were hospitalized as a result of the crash.
  Troopers said Mrs. Pehobe Van Wagenen, 57, of Kingston, grandmother of the two Van Wagenen children, was turning into a fruit stand when her car was struck in the side by a car operated by David Ashline, 16, of Gloversville, whose uncle was killed.
  Ashline, Mrs. Dorothy D'Ambrosi,.43, wife of Louis; and her two aunts, the Misses Mildred and Rose Simmons, all of Gloversville were injured. Also hurt were the driver of the other car, her daughter-inlaw, Mrs. Marlene Van Wagenen, 33, of Williamstown mother of Ann and Diane, and two other Van Wagenen children, Kenneth, 8, and Kim, 6.

  A double wedding took place yesterday afternoon at 4:30 at the home of Mr. anu Mrs. Louis D'Ambrosi,  16 Elm street when their two sons Joseph R. and Louis, jr., were united in marriage.
  Joseph took for his bride Miss Betty Rivenberg, of 31 Allen street and Louis married Miss Alma G. Crouse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Crouse of 148 West Fulton street. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. George P. Howard of the Spiritualist church.
  Mrs. Joseph Rivenberg wore a blue satin gown and corsage of white roses. Her matron of honor, Mrs. Edward Rivenberg, sister-in-law, wore a cream colored taffeta gown and a corsage of red roses and narcissus. The best man was Edward Rivenberg.
  Mrs. Louis D'Ambrosi wore pink satin and a corsage of white roses. The attendants were Mr and Mrs
Orland D'Ambrosi, the former a brother of the bridegroom. The latter wore blue taffeta and a corsage of red roses and narcissus.
  Mrs. Crouse, mother of Mrs. Louis D'Ambrosi, Wore a flowered dressand the mother of the bridegrooms wore navy blue. Their flowers were red roses.
  A reception followed the ceremony and the attendants were presented personal gifts.
  The young people plan to take their wedding trip during the summer and at present are residing at 16 Elm street.
 Mrs. Joseph D'Ambrosi attended the local public schools, and is employed at the General Dry Battery Co. The bridegroom, a graduate of Gloversville High school, is employed at the Model Fur Co.
  Mrs. Louis D'Ambrosi Jr attended the public school. The bridegroom is a graduate of Gloversville High school. He present is employed by the Model Fur Co, He received an honorable discharge from the Army of the United States two monhs ago having served with the Seventh Armored Corps.
  Out of town guests were Mrs George Hibbert Saratoga Springs, Miss Rosemary O'Brien and Mrs. Edna Muchowski Amsterdam.

  Miss Sharon Lee D'Ambrosi of Johnstown, daughter of Louis D'Ambrosi of Albany and the late Mrs. Alma D'Ambrosi, became the bride of George E. Long, son of Mr. and Mrs. George H Long of Ilion at 1 Saturday afternoon ar St. Patrick's Church.
  The ceremony was performed by Rev. M. Kenneth Doyle, pastor.
  The bride, who resided at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Zilka Sr. of 836 Glebe Stret, was given in marriage by her uncle.
  She wore a white ballerina length gown with long sleeves and a bouffant veil attached to a crown trimmed with seed perals and crystals. She carried a bouquet of carnations and pompoms.
  Miss Sally Beatty of Johnstown was the maid of honor, She wore a gren satin gown, green pillbox hat with veil, and carried a Colonial bouquet of yellow carnations.
  Fred Pashi of Ilion was best man Michael Zilka Jr. of Johnstown was ring bearer. The bride's aunt wore a brown suit, gold accessories and an orchid corsage. The bridegroom's mother wore a brown dress, white accessories and an orchid corsage.
  After the ceremony a reception for 125 persons was held at the home of the bride's aunt and uncle.
  The bride attended Albany schools. The bridegroom was graduated from Ilion High School and is employed at Remington Arms Company in Ilion.
  For the wedding trip to the New England states, the bride wore a green print dress, green bow headpiece and an orchid corsage. Mr and Mrs. Long will make their home in Mohawk.
  Guests attended the wedding from Albany, Greenfield Center, Fonda, Gloversville, Ilion, Syracuse, Utica, Bleecker and Connecticut.
