  Clifford A. Shaut, 69, of St Johnsville RD 3, died March 25 in Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, when he had been a patient since Friday.
  He was born Dec. 11,1917, in St Johnsville, the son of Floyd and Anna VanAllen Shaut and was raised and educated in St. Johnsville, attending local schools.
  He was employed by various manufacturing and construction companies for many years, and was last employed as a night watchman by Key-Mark, Fonda.
  Shaut was a World War II Army veteran and former member of St. Johnsville Volunteer Fin Department.
  He was of the Protestant faith.
  Surviving are six sons, Clifford Shaut Jr., Reidsville, N.C., Robert Shaut and David Shaut, both of St. Johnsville, Raymond Shaut, Salisbury Center, Bernie Shaut, Dolgeville, Timothy Shaut Oppenheim; four daughters, Rosalie Winn, Gibsonville, N.C., Janie Dingman, St. Johnsville, Anna Darling, St Johnsville, Sherry Shively, Gibsonville, N.C.; 38 grandchildren,
seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Daniel Shaut, March 27, 1986.
  The funeral was conducted March 29, from Maginnis-Smith Funeral Home with Rev. James E. Fletcher officiating. Interment will be in West St Johnsville Cemetery.
  Contributions may be to St. Johnsville Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

C. F. Miller, officiating. The attendants were Miss Florence Remonda of Morehouseville and Alfred Mosher of Lassellsville, a brother of the bride.
   The bride and her attendant both wore soldier blue. Mr. and Mrs. Shaut will make their home in this village.

  Clifford Richard "Cliff" Shaut, 72, of 165 Canterbury Rd. Reidsville, NC went to be with the Lord Saturday October 19, 2013 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday October 24, 2013 at Main Street United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens with military rites.
  A native of Little Falls, NY, he was a son of the late Clifford Anthony and Florentina Mosher Shaut and had lived in Rockingham County since 1977. He was a retired employee of P. Lorillard Tobacco Co., a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
  Cliff was preceded in death by his wife: Hazel Hinson Shaut, a brother: Daniel Shaut, and a half- brother: Terry Darling.

  SALISBURY CENTER, N.Y. —
  Mr. Terry Darling, 46, passed away unexpectedly on May 2, 2012, in Florida.
  He was born on March 4, 1966, in Little Falls, son of the late Howard and Florentena (Mosher) Shaut Darling.
  Terry attended school in Stratford and graduated in Dolgeville. He was self-employed as a hairdresser, most recently at Florentena's at the Stone Mill in Canal Place in Little Falls. Terry loved the outdoors. Among his passions were rollerblading, rock climbing, the beach and art.
  He is survived by his brothers, Clifford Shaut, Robert Shaut (Karen), David Shaut (Dawn), Raymond Shaut, Bernie Shaut, Timothy Shaut (Dawn), Howard Darling, Arthur Darling, David Darling (Betty) and Robert Darling (Harlene); his sisters, Roselea Winn (Keith), Jane Dingman (Don), Anna Darling and Sherry Ingleheim (Nate); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Daniel Shaut.
  In keeping with the family's wishes, there are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at Brown Cemetery in Oppenheim at 11 a.m. on Thursday , August 2, 2012, with the Rev. Michaela Rosenberger officiating.

  ST. JOHNSVILLE - Clyde R. Mosher, 78, of 62 N. Division St., St. Johnsville, passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
   He was born Aug. 30, 1927, in St. Johnsville, the son of the late Clarence and Minnie (Clemons) Mosher and was educated in Nelliston schools. His marriage to Betty Jane Snell took place on Feb. 17, 1946. The couple shared a blessed union of marriage for 49 years until the passing of Mrs. Mosher on April 9, 1995.
  Mr. Mosher was a World War II Army veteran, enlisting on Nov. 2, 1945, and was honorably discharged on June 26, 1947, with the rank of technician fifth grade.
  Clyde was last employed at Beech-Nut in Canajoharie.
  Mr. Mosher was of the Protestant faith.
  Survivors include a son, Calvin Mosher and Robin of Mohawk; two daughters, Janice Mosher and Ernie of Stratford and Joann Pettengill and Michael of St. Johnsville; one sister, Tena Darling of Dolgeville; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
  He was predeceased by a brother, Alfred Mosher.
  Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 16, at 10 a.m. from the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, with the Rev. Wayne Cole, pastor of the Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in St. Johnsville Cemetery.
  Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 15, from 5-8 p.m.

  Mrs. Betty Jane Mosher, 67, of  St. Johnsville, died Sunday, April 9, at Little Falls Hospital.
  Mrs. Mosher was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Little Falls, the daughter of Floyd and Ida Mae Sitts Snell. She was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School and had been a lifelong St. Johnsville resident.
  On Feb. 17, 1946, she was married to Clyde Mosher.
  Survivors, beside her widower, include a son, Calvin Mosher; two daughters, Janice Cook of Fort Plain and JoAnn Buley of St. Johnsville; one sister, Gladys Sutton of Mesa, AZ; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
   She was predeceased by three brothers, Harold, Floyd and Bobby Snell.
  Funeral service is 11 a.m., Wednesday (today) at Smith Woody & Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville. Burial will be in St. Johnsville Cemetery.

  Fifteen friends and relatives gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Snell, Jr., St. Johnsville, Sunday in observance of the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde R. Mosher.
   A buffet luncheon was served, featuring a three-tiered wedding cake. The function was hosted by Mr, and Mrs. Harold Snell, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Snell, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Snell, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Flanders, Jr.
   The couple received gifts, cards, flowers and money. They were surprised by telephone calls from Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sutton, Mesa, Ariz., and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sears, Massachusetts.
   Miss Betty Jane Snell and Clyde R. Mosher, son of Clarence Mosher and the late Minnie Mosher, were married Feb. 17, 1946, at the home of the bride's parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Floyd C. Snell, Sr., by the Rev. Norman E. Thomas, pastor of St. John's Reformed Church. The attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sutton, brother-in-law and sister of the bride.
   Mr. and Mrs. Mosher are the parents of three children, Calvin, a junior at St. Johnsville Central School, and twin daughters, JoAnn and Janice, both in the sixth grade.

  Kenneth P. Sutton, 82, of Johnstown, died Tuesday, May 19, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville after a long illness.
  Mr. Sutton was born in St. Johnsville and was educated in Ephratah school.
  He served in the U.S. Navy, 1944-45.
   Mr. Sutton was employed for Gates Mills and Moderne Gloves in Gloversville, retiring in 1978.
  He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lions Club, Eagles Aerie and Sokol 99.
  In 1970, he married Joan Craver. Survivors, in addition to his widow, include a son, Kenneth I. Sutton of Phoenix; a daughter, Elaine Houghton of Johnstown; two stepsons. William and Richard Bellinger, both of Gloversville; a stepdaughter, Robin Stegman of Parker, CO; two brothers, Curtis Sutten of St. Johnsville and Roy Sutton Jr. of Fultonville; a sister, DeEtta Nellis of St. Johnsville; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
  A funeral service was conducted Thursday, May 21, at A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Johnstown. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.

Cyril and Method Church Johnstown. The Rev. Jaroslav Mrazek, Ph. D. pastor performed the ceremony.
  Emille Palkovic. sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid and Stephen Chivilla, cousin of the bride was best man.
  The bride was attired in a gown of white crepe with a cape effect and white accessories anbd wore a sholder corsage of Talisman roses and lillies of the valley. The bridesmaid wore a corsage of American Beauty roses.
  The bride presented her attendant with a bracelet and the bridegroom gave Mr. Chivila a belt buckle and tie set.
  Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. After the reception the couple left on a wedding trip to New York City.
  Mrs. Sutton is employed at the Scotsmoor Knitting Company Inc. and Mr. Sutton is an employee of the Surpass Leather Company of Gloversville. Upon their return the couple will take up their residence at South Perry Street, Johnstown.

  ST. JOHNSVILLE- Mrs. DeEtta (Peggy) Nellis, 93, a resident of Folts Home, passed away on May 6, 2011 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Utica with her loving family at her side.
  She was born on January 11, 1918, in Ephratah, daughter of the late Roy and Grace (Cromer) Sutton. Peggy came to St. Johnsville to live in 1935. On September 2, 1939 she was united in marriage with Donald E. Nellis at the Parsonage of Grace Christian Church in St. Johnsville. Their loving union lasted 51 years until his passing on December 5, 1990.
  Peggy was last employed at Beech-Nut in Canajoharie. She retired in 1971. She loved her home, flower gardens and especially her family.
  Survivors include her son Edward D. Nellis and his wife Linda of Summit, New Jersey; her daughter Susan Nellis-Davis and her husband James of Barrington, New Hampshire; her 2 grandchildren: Rachel Ann Nellis of Chicago, IL and Eric Donald Nellis, currently attending Georgetown Medical School; her brother Curtis Sutton of St. Johnsville and a half brother Roy Sutton Jr. of Glen, NY. She was predeceased by her 2 brothers: Richard Sutton and Kenneth Sutton and her sister Florence Manelius.
  In keeping with Peggy's wishes there are no calling hours. A graveside service will take place at 2:30pm on Wednesday May 11, 2011 at West St. Johnsville Cemetery.

  Donald E. Nellis, 77, of St. Johnsville, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 5, in Ellis Hospital after a short illnes.
  Mr. Nellis was bom Jan. 10, 1913, in St. Johnsville, the son of Frank and Laura Wick Nellis. He was raised in St. Johnsville, graduating St. Johnsville High School in 1931. He lived in the area his entire life.
   On Sept. 2, 1939, he was married to DeEtta “Peggy” Sutton in St. Johnsville.
  Mr. Nellis was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.
  Following active service, he was employed with Palatine Dyeing Co. of St. Johnsville, and then was employed at Helmont Mills, also of St. Johnsville, for 37 years, retiring in 1983.
  Survivors, in addition to his widow, are a son, Edward D. Nellis of Summit, NJ; a daughter, Susan Davis of Amityville; three sisters, Shirley Kilts of Nelliston, Donna Swartz of St. Johnsville, and Phyllis Beischer of St. Johnsville; a grandson and a granddaughter; aunts, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
  Funeral service was Saturday, Dec. 8, at Smith-Woody Funeral Home, St. Johnsville, with the Rev. David Ellis officiating. Burial was in West St. Johnsville Cemetery.
  Calling hours were Friday, Nov. 7, at the funeral home.

  ST. JOHNSVILLE— Miss Gladys Eileen Snell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd C Snell, 25 Center street, and Pfc. Richard Stephen Sutton, son of Roy Sutton, Lasellsvllle, were married Friday night, Jan. 28, at 8 o'clock.
  The ceremony was performed by Rev. C. Frederick Miller, Methodist pastor, in the parsonage here. Attending the couple were Mrs. Donald E. Nellis. sister or the groom, and Pvt. Harold F. Snell, a brother of the bride.
  The bride is a graduate of St Johnsville High school, in the class of '43, and was employed by the Cherry-Burrell corporation In Little Falls. The groom was employed here by the Palatine Dyeing company before his induction into the army in November, 1942. He is stationed now at Camp Rucker, Ala.

  An afternoon wedding on May 11 at the First United Methodist Church in Mesa, Ariz., united in marriage Miss Karen Faye Sutton and Michael L. Smith. Dr. Hayden S. Sears, pastor performed the double ring ceremony.
  The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sutton, Mesa, former residents of St. Johnsville. The bridegroom is the son of Mr and Mrs Virgil Smith, Apache Junction, Ariz.
  Mrs. Sue Mellatt, organist played the traditional wedding music and Mac Mcrevy, soloist, sang “A Perfect Love” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”
  The bride, escorted to the altar by her father, was given in marriage by both her parents She wore a French designed scalloped nylon chantilace ruffled gown, featuring an all lace fitted bodice and Sabrina neckline accented with sequins. The long lace fitted sleeves were designed with traditional bridal points. The bouffant skirt with tiers of scalloped lace was styled with a bow of acetate peau, which accented the back at the waistline. Her fingertip veil, edged in wide lace, fell from a rhinestone tiara. She carried a colonial bouquet of miniature carnations, stephanotis and baby’s breath.
  Mrs Sharon Straley, sister of the bridegroom, was matron of honor and Miss Leslie Straley, niece of the bridegroom, was the junior bridesmaid.
  They wore long colonial style gowns of light blue dotted Swiss over blue crepe, with long fitted sleeves puffed above the elbow White and blue cloth daisies accented the waistlines and their blue picture hats. They carried colonial bouquets of miniature carnations, blue daisy chrysanthemums and baby's breath with pink streamers.
  Donald Straley, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, was best man and Robert Straley, nephew of the bridegroom, was junior groomsman. Garlin Michaels, a friend, was usher
  The mother of the bride wore a powder blue polyester gown with white accessories and a pink double cymbidium orchid. The mother of the bridegroom chose a pink flowered chiffon gown, white accessories and a pink double cymbidium orchid.
  Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church social rooms. Guests attended from Mesa, Tempe and Phoenix, Ariz., and Nebraska, Kansas, New York and Colorado. Florence Manelius, aunt of the bride, presided at the guest book and Erma Michaels, a friend, attended the gift table.
  For the wedding trip to California, the bride wore a light blue and white dress and jacket ensemble.
  The bridegroom is employed at Brown and Hoeye Chevrolet, Inc in Mesa and the newlyweds are presently residing at 730 South Country Club drive, Mesa.
  The couple presented personal gifts to the attendants at a rehearsal dinner hosted by the bridegrooms parents at Matta’s Restaurant, Mesa.

  Mr. Curtis A. Sutton, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on Friday evening December 29, 2017 at Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown, NY. He was a longtime resident of St. Johnsville. He received wonderful care for which his family is very grateful.
  He was born on April 26, 1928 in the town of Ephratah, NY, son of the late Roy and Grace (Cromer) Sutton. He was educated in schools in Lasselsville and St. Johnsville.
  Curt served our country with the United States Army, World War II, having been honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. Curt worked with HP Hood Milk Company, Canajoharie, mainly in the transportation division driving a truck. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union Local 699 for over 30 years and was a member of the Methodist Church. He was also a member of the St. Johnsville American Legion Morris J. Edwards Post #168.
  Curt loved working in his yard, which his neighbors said he manicured, ­­ and sitting on his front porch, where he could watch the world go by and chat with neighbors as they passed. He loved visits from his family, and was entertained by his great grandchildren.
  He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Barbehenn and husband Frank, daughter in law, Paula Sutton, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
  He was predeceased by his wife, Waona, and his son, David.
  The burial service will take place in the Spring at a time convenient to the family at West St. Johnsville Cemetery, where a full military service will be presented.

  Waona W. Sutton, 73, a long time St. Johnsville resident, passed away on Sunday July 3, 2005 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home with her family by her side.
  She was born August 13, 1931 in the Town of Palatine, the daughter of the late Frank & Laura (Kretser) Wick, and was a graduate of Fort Plain High School.
  Her marriage to Curtis A. Sutton took place on September 16, 1950 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Plain.
  Mrs. Sutton was employed at the Little Falls Fonda Bus Corp. in St. Johnsville for 10 years where she was a school bus driver.
  Waona was of the Methodist Faith.
  Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Curtis; a son David Sutton and his wife Paula of Amsterdam; a daughter Andrea Barbehenn and her husband Frank of Bethlehem Pa.; a sister Lennetta Cook of St. Johnsville; seven grandchildren: Paul Barbehenn & his wife Melissa, Matthew Barbehenn, Kristen Barbehenn, Richard Sutton and his wife Heather, Kayla Sutton, Matthew Humphrey and Tyler Sutton, and many nieces, nephews & cousins. She was pre-deceased by a sister Monica Loyche.
  Burial will follow at West St. Johnsville Cemetery.

  FORT PLAIN, Sept. l - Waona Mildred Wick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wick, Fort Plain, R. D., and Curtis Albert Sutton, son of Roy Sutton, St Johnsville, were married Saturday at 2 P. M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Herbert H. Mahl, pastor.
  Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white nylon marquisette over taffeta with hoop skirt, with an off-shoulder neckline and trimmed with French lace. Her bonnet was caught with orange blossoms and her fingertip veil was trimmed with French lace. Her bouquet was a cascade of white pompons centered about an orchid.
  Miss Kathleen Kleler, St. Johnsvllle, the maid of honor, was attired in a nile green nylon over marquisette gown with off-shoulder neckline and matching halo and gauntlets. Her cascade bouquet was of yellow pompons.
  The bridesmaids, Miss Eleanor Saltsman and Miss Marion Hoke, Fort Plain, wore gowns similar to that of the maid of honor, in pink, and carried cascade bouquets.
  Sandra Kay Loyche, niece of the bride, was flower girl, wearing white nylon marquisette over taffeta and carrying a bouquet of pink pompons.
  Richard Sutton was best man for his brother and ushers were Joseph Rider and George Swartz, St. Johnsville. Ronald Charles Loyche, nephew of the bride, was the ringbearer.
  The organist, Miss Elizabeth Hain, played traditional music and William Lamphere, soloist, sang "O Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly."
  The bride's mother wore a carmel street-length dress with brown hat and a corsage of bronze pompons. The bridegroom's sister, Mrs. Donald Nellls, wore a beige street-length dress, brown hat and also a bronze pompon corsage.
  A wedding supper was held at the bride's home on the evening before the wedding and following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Community House in St. Johnsville.
  For their wedding trip through the New England States, Mrs. Sutton wore a suit of pink beige gabardine with navy hat and orchid corsage. On their return, the couple will reside on North Division Street in St. Johnsville.
  The bride is a graduate of Fort Plain High School, and her husband, who attended Dolgeville Central School, is employed by the Palatine Dyeing Company.
  Out of town guests were from St. Johnsville, Johnstown, lllon, Schenectady, Syracuse, Remsen, Gloversville, Cherry Valley, Cobleskill, Lasselsville, Canajoharie and Paiatine Bridge.

  Ira Green, 76, of St. Johnsville RD 1 (Lassellsville) died early Wednesday morning in Johnstown Hospital, following a short illness.
   Born in Dolgeville on Oct. 25, 1904, he was the son of George and Mary Silvernail Green. He was married to the former Lois Cromer on Nov. 19, 1943 in, Scotch Bush.
   Survivors is addition to his widow are three sons, Ira Francis Green, Johnstown, Richard Green, Gloversville, Kevin Green at home; a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Sharon) Martin, Fort Worth, Texas; six grandchildren and several cousins.
   Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the DeRubeis Funeral Home, St. Johnsville, with the Rev. S. Bowen Hawkins, pastor of the Lassellsville United Methodist Church officiating.

Leonard Grant Frederick

  Leonard G. Frederick, 80, of Nelliston, died early Saturday morning, April 6, at his home after a short illness.
  Mr. Frederick was bom April 10, 1910, in the town of Johnstown, the son of Philip and Emma Fredericks Frederick. He attended Keck Center School in the Town of Johnstown, and had been a resident of Nelliston since 1947.
  He served in the U.S. Army, 304th Engineers Battalion, in the European Theatre during World War II.
  For more than 20 yeas, he was employed as a carpenter at Baronet Litho at Johnstown, retiring in 1985.
  Mr. Frederick was a member of Fort Plain American Legion Post No. 554 and Grandview Baptist Church.
  On Dec. 3 1954, he was married to Clara Cromer at Scotch Bush, Town of Ephratah.
  Survivors, beside his widow, include two daughters. Mrs. Valerie S. Horstman of Jonesville and Miss Catherine L. Frederick of Nelliston; three sons, Robert L. and Wayne H. Frederick, both of Nelliston and Philip P. Frederick of Cumberland Center, Maine; One granddaughter and two grandsons; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Madik of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Hazel Hoffman of Fort Plain; nieces, nephews and cousins.  
   Funeral service was Tuesday, April 9, at Swartz & Schmiedel Funeral Home Inc., with the Rev. Carl Hawver officiating. Burial was in Fort Plain Cemetery with full military honors presented by VFW Poet No. 3275 Memorial Squad.
  Memorial contributions may be made to Little Falls Hospital.
