Blanche Lorain Oakes

  Mrs. Arthur Hewitt, 73, of Lake Ave., Silver Lake, died on Friday morning, Jan. 24, 1964, at her home after suffering a brain hemorrhage.
  She was a member of the Brick Presbyterian Church, the Warsaw Rebekah Lodge, Warsaw Grange and was a Gold Star Mother of World War II. Her son, Ward Samuel, died in action in Germany in 1945. Her maiden name was Blanche Oakes. She was born on Oct. 16 1890, in Franklinville, a daughter of Samuel and Eda Reynolds Oakes. Prior to moving to Perry village she had lived with her husband, Arthur, on a farm west of Silver Lake.
  Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Wallace (Edith) Phillips in California and Mrs. Leo (Norma) Beachel of Silver Springs; three sons, Lavergne of Silver Springs, Dean and Irving H., both of Perry; a sister, Mrs. Marie Rodda of Buffalo; 24 Grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
  Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday from the Eaton Funeral Home, with burial in Franklinville. Rev. John Phillips and Rev. A. Walker Hepler officiated. A rebekah service was held at 8:00 p.m. Saturday.

  Edith Marie Phillips Memorial services for longtime Antioch schoolteacher Edith Marie Phillips will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hillside Baptist Church, 108 Hillside Road in Antioch. She died Sunday at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Walnut Creek. She was 74. A native of Franklinville,N.Y., she moved to San Leandro and then to Antioch in 1956. She was a schoolteacher for 27 years and a homemaker for 52 years. She taught first grade at Bidwell Elementary in Antioch. She was a member of the California Teachers Association and Hillside Baptist Church of Antioch,where she taught Sunday School and played the piano. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Wallace Phillips of Antioch: four daughters, Mary Ann Graves of Port Orchard, Wash., Linda Ramsey and Peggy Gardner, both of Antioch, and Shirley Casey of Paducah,Ky.; a son Steven Phillips of Denver, Colo.; an aunt, Marie Rodda of Perry, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Contribution may be made to Hillside Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 108 Hillside Road, Antioch 94509. Arrangements are being handled by Higgins Funeral Chapel.

  " LAVERGNE HEWITT
  A funeral service was held in Castile at 2 p.m. Monday for LaVergne (Jim) Hewitt, 52, of 110 S. Main st. Castile, who died Friday, December 26, 1975 in Wyoming County Community Hospital, Warsaw, after a brief illness.
  The rites were in the Harmon Funeral Home, 35 N. Main St., Castile with the Rev. Clyde Embling of the Castile United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Perry.
  Mr. Hewitt was born in LeRoy May 7, 1923, a son of Arthur and Blanch Oakes Hewitt and had been a resident of this area for most of his lifetime.
  He served in Europe during World War II with the U. S. Air Force.
  He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 5009 the Veterans Club and Silver Lake Sportsmen's Club, all of Perry.
  Surviving are his wife, the former Lucille Helser; four sons Phillips of Delevan, Douglas of Perry, and Rudy and Dale, both at home; two daughters, Miss Barbara and Miss Valerie, both at home; two brothers, Irving (Corky) and Dean both of Perry; two sisters, Mrs. Norma Beache of Silver Springs and Mrs. Edith Phillips of Los Angeles, Calif.; his father Arthur Hewitt of Perry, and five grandchildren."

  " IRVING "CORKY" HEWITT
  Perry -- Funeral service were held in the Eaton - Watson funeral Home for Irving "Corky" Hewitt, 58, of 52 Watrous St., who was dead on arrival Dec. 5, 1987 at Wyoming County community Hospital. Mr. Hewitt was a well known stock car driver and mechanic.
  Mr Hewitt retired in 1986 from New York State Division For Youth at Industry in Rush, N.Y. where he was employed as an assistant teacher and auto mechanic.
  He operated a service station in Silver Springs for 15 years and one in Perry for 10 years.
  During 1940's and 1950's he was active in softball leagues in the Warsaw, Perry and Silver Springs area.
  He was best known as a stock car racer at Perry and Holland Raceways.
  He is a graduate of Silver Springs High School, an honorary member of the Perry Fire Department and is a member of Perry Moose Club.
  Survivors include; his wife Tootie Yencer Hewitt; two daughters, Rhonda Draper and Laurie George, both of Perry; one son Gene Hewitt of Perry; one sister, Edith Phillips of Antioch, Calif. and four grandchildren.
  Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery in Perry. "

  Gladys J. (Tootie) Hewitt, age 63, lakeshore Dr., Castile, died Saturday, May 13, 1995 at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, Fl. She was born April 2, 1932 in Minesville, N.Y., the daughter of Harold Yencer (deceased) and Jane DiLaro-Sweeney of Perry.
  "Tootie" as she was fondly remembered, owned and operated Tootie's Hair Hut in Perry for 27 years and she retired in 1989. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and 40+ North American touring Riders.
  Survivors are her mother, Jane Sweeney, Perry; a son Gene Hewitt, Batavia; daughters, Rhenda(Ben) Riggins, and Laurie George, both of Perry; brothers, Harold "Sonny" (Jeanie) Yencer, Perry and Norman Yencer, Buffalo; sisters Carol Ann Taylor, Scottsville and Marleen (David) Wagner, Buffalo; and 6 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Irving "Corky" Hewitt.
  Funeral arrangemenets were made by Eaton-Watson funeral Home, Inc. 59 Lake St., Perry on Thursday, May 18,1995 at 10 a.m. Calling hours were Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and on wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Burial Glenwood Cemetery, Perry.

  " Robert Bathrick, Holland Farmer, Dies at 67"
  "Robert C. Bathrick of 8008 Vermont Hill Road, Holland died on Sunday, August 15 at Buffalo General Hospital.
  A lifelong area resident, he was born in Perry on June 20, 1915 to Charles E. and Minnie Munger Bathrick, and was the husband of the former Edith Thayer.
  Mr. Bathrick had owned and operated a dairy farm since 1946, and was a retired director of the Dairy Council, the Farm Credit Service, and the Niagara Frontier Milk for Health, and a member of the New York Farm Bureau and Dairylea Cooperative. He was also a deacon at the Hunters Creek Community Church, Holland.
  In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Charles M. (Jean), William K. (Marjorie), and John M. (kim); one daughter Ms. Ellen Otis; one brother, Ralph W.; three sisters, Dorothy (Mrs. Milton) Borg, Mrs. Virginia Eberle, and Mrs. Mable Dunbar; and seven grandchildren.
  A memorial service was held at the Hunters Creek Community Church on August 11 with Rev. David Kennedy, pastor, officiating. Arrangements were by the Wood Funeral Home of East Aurora. Memorials may be made to the church building fund."

  " Mrs. Edith Bathrick, 69, of Holland died Friday ( April 10, 1992) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Florida, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident which occurred Feb. 27 in Lakeland.
  Mrs. Bathrick was born Aug. 25, 1922, in Perry, a daughter of the late Herman Thayer and Stella Safford Thayer Schiller. She was stepdaughter of the late Daniel Schiller.
  She was a member of the Dairylea Milk Cooperative, Erie County Farm Bureau and Hunters Creek Community Church.
  She was the wife of the late Robert C. Bathrick.
  Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, John M. and Kim Bathrick of Holland, Charles M. and Jean Bathrick of Zanesville, Ohio, and William K. Bathrick of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and John Dagneau of Albany; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles and Grace Thayer of Corfu, Perry Schiller of Stafford, Ellis "Bud" Thayer of Parrish; a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Richard Nevinger of Florida; 11 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
  She was a sister to the late Laverne Thayer.
  A memorial service was on April 14 at Hunters Creek Community Church, with Burial in Warsaw Cemetery.
