Services for Rodney Frederick Davey, 20 of Altmar, who was killed instantly Friday night when his car left the road on Rt. 13 and struck a tree by Arlie Baxter's driveway, were held Tuesday at the Altmar Methodist Church at 2pm. The Rev. Harley S. Hill, pastor, officiated with interment and military services by Russell Tryon Post 1435, American Legion in the Riverside Cemetery, at Altmar.
According to the report of Trooper R. C. Manning of the Pulaski sub-station, Davey was traveling alone about 11:45 pm Friday. In failing to make the curve his car struck a tree and was completely demolished. Mr. Davey was found pinned in the wreckage by Arlie Baxter, who lives near where the accident occurred and heard the crash. He notified state police.
Dr. John L. H. Mason, coroner's physician said the young man's death was instantaneous due to a broken neck, fractured skull and multiple internal injuries. District Attorney Richard N. Donovan was at the scene.
Surviving are his wife, Rose Rowe Davey; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Francis S. Davey, of Altmar; two brothers, Donald of Syracuse and Willam of Altmar; four sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Eris) Colloca, of Oswego, Mrs. Kenneth (Norma) Brown of Fayetteville, Mrs. Philip J. (Darcy) Forbes, Jr. of Richland and Mrs. Richard (Thelma) Sprague of Altmar.
Rodney Fredereick Davey was born in Altmar April 25, 1936, son of Francis and Loleta Johnson Davey. He attended Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central school and served tow and one-half years in the U.S. Air Force, being honorably discharged last February. Since then he has been employed at the Richland Lumber Co."

William M. 'Bill' Bunn
Worked at Ilion Lumber Co. for many years
ILION - William M. "Bill" Bunn, 84, of 16 Columbia Parkway, passed away at home Friday morning, Sept. 10, 2004.
Bill was born May 31, 1920, in Ilion, son of Walter and Loretta (Fretts) Bunn. He was a graduate of Ilion High School. On Sept. 21, 1946, he was united in marriage to Frances White in Mohawk. She passed away Nov. 10, 1982. Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II in the European Theater of War with the 100th Division Field Infantry. At one time he was employed by Herkimer County Fuel Co., Ilion, and later with the Ilion Lumber Co., with 38 years of dedicated service. Bill was a member of the Mohawk American Legion and the Ilion-Frankfort VFW.
Survivors include his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and John Rathbun of Ilion, Marie Ray of Ilion, Ellen and Charlie Lowell of Herkimer, Bernard and Josephine White and John and Joanne White, all of Florida; several nieces and nephews, including Bob and Janice Rathbun of Schuyler, Jim Rathbun of Ilion, Sue and Bob Streeter of Ilion and Marianne and Al Miller of Jordanville; and his special friends, Vivian and James Herkel of Ilion.
Bill was also predeceased by his friends, Clarence and Juanita Koch.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion.
The Mohawk Crowley Barnum American Legion Post members are asked to gather at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 5 p.m. for services and the Frankfort/Ilion VFW Post members are asked to gather at 6 p.m. for service.
Bill's funeral service will be held Monday, Sept. 13, commencing at 10 a.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, Ilion. Interment with full military honors will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions in Bill's name may be made to the American Heart Association. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

RICHFIELD SPRINGS —Hiram Skinner Sr., 61, native of the Town of Columbia, died yesterday in his home, 16 Park St., this village.
Born Feb. 3, 1893, he was a son of John C. and Cora Jones Skinner. He married Joan Fretts in the Town of Columbia. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Mr. Skinner was employed as a machine setter for Remington Rand, Ilion, living there until five years ago when he moved to Richfield Springs.
He leaves five daughters, Mrs, Margarete Hansen, Eagle Bay; Mrs, Ada Parteka, Sangerfield, Mrs. Lula Welch, Richfield Springs, Mrs. Barbara Baker, Old Forge, and Mrs. Lola Folts. Richfield Springs; two sons. John F. and Hiram Jr., both of Richfield Springs; two sisters, Mrs. Alva Brewer, Spinnerville, and Mrs. Elizabeth Hilts, Columbia Center; three brothers, John B., Clayton and Merton Sr., all of Richfield Springs.
Services will be held at 11 a. m Thursday from the home, with interment in Columbia Center. The Rev. Howard Knapp, pastor, will officiate.

Funeral services for Hiram J. Skinner, Sr., 61 were held this Thursday morning, January 27, from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hiram J. Skinner, Jr. of 16 Park Street, at 11 o'clock. The Rev. Howard Knapp of the local Methodist Church officiated and burial was in the Columbia Center Cemetery.
Mr. Skinner was born in Columbia Center on February 3, 1894, the son of the late John C. Skinner and Cora Jones Skinner. His early life was spent in that area where he Operated a farm. More recently he was employed In the Ilion Remington Arms, retiring a few years Ago. He was a member of the Methodist church. He married Miss Joanna Fretts 40 years Ago, she survives with two sons, John F. Skinner of Columbia Center and Hiram Skinner, Jr., of this Village; five daughters, Mrs. Charles Hansen (Marguerite) of Eagle Bay, NY, Mrs. Lewis Parteako (Ada) of Sangerfield, twins, Lola and Lulu, Mrs. Elah Folts (Lola) and Mrs. John Welch (Lulu), respectively, both of this village and Mrs. Arthur Baker (Barbara) of Old Forge, NY. Three Brothers, Merton, John and Clayton, all of Richfield Springs; and two sisters, Mrs. George Brewer of Ilion and Mrs. Leo Hilts also of Ilion; And 19 grandchildren. His oldest grandson, John Guy Reile is serving with the Air Force in Landstuhl, Germany.

ILION—Frank Leo Blnney, 69, of Oneida St., Cassville, father of four Illonites, died yesterday in, Faxton Hospital, Utica, after a brief illness.
He was born Dec. I5, 1889 in Sacramento, Calif., son of Oliver F. and Catherine Lane Binney with whom he was in show business for many years. He performed with a well known circus for many years and with Houdini, the magician.
For the past 15 years he had operated his own restaurant in Cassville. On July 15, 1945, he married Joanna Fretts of Richfield Springs in Halstead. Pa.
Besides his wife, he leaves six daughters. Mrs. Peter Scapara, Mrs. Gerald Sterling, Mrs. Virginia Wheeler, all of Ilion, Mrs. Richard Brown, Mrs. Melvin Keiser, Utica; Mrs. Milton Dibble, Calif; five sons, Frank. Jr., Baltimore; Sergeant John, Washington, D. C.; Cpl. Harold, Honolulu; Ronald, Rome, and Robert,
Ilion.
Also five Step-daughters. Mrs. Charles Hansen, Eagle Bay; Mrs. Arthur Baker, Old Forge; Mrs. Lewis Parteko. Deer Park, Washington - Janice Mosher, 73, of Deer Park, Washington passed away suddenly January 30, 2015.
Janice was born August 17, 1941, in Herkimer. She lived most of her life in Richfield Springs. For the last 12 years she lived in Washington State with her daughter, Stacy Rowley.
Janice attended Richfield Spring Central School. She was employed at the Duofold in Ilion for 15 years.
Survivors include her children, Linda Muller Coon of Honor, Michigan; John Muller of South Portland, Maine; James Muller of Fly Creek; Tracy Mosher Baker and her husband, Gus of East Springfield; Stacy Mosher Rowley and her husband, Christian of Deer Park, Washington; and step-daughter, Linda Mosher Ford of Ilion; 14 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter; six step-grandchildren; and two nieces.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis Mosher; parents, William "Doc" and Margaret Hayes Fretts; sister, Eleanor Grabowski; brother Curtis Fretts and her beloved cat, Muffin.

William Benjamin "Willie" Ray Sr. 1931-2009 NEW LISBON
William Benjamin (Willie) Ray Sr., 78, of New Lisbon, passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at his home, with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Gilbertsville on May 24, 1931, the son of W. Amos Ray and Flora (Fretts) Ray.
Willie was a well-known dairy farmer. He enjoyed dancing, joking and having a good time. His many hobbies included hunting, collecting wolf memorabilia, gardening, mowing his lawn and of course, feeding his pigeons.
He was a member of the American Honky Tonk Bar Association. Willie is survived by his beloved companion, Doris Bulger; his 15 children, Paula Bodie, Patricia Tiffany, Rebecca Ray, Wilma Harrington, Betty Church, Roger Ray, Flora Sullivan, Kerry Ray, Kathleen Ashton, Christopher Ray, Tommy Ray, William B. (Billy) Ray Jr. Christine Delong, Susie Harrington and Karen Nutt, and 48 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Leon Ray, and his sisters, Sara Johnson, Mary Finch, Viola Crandall and Helen Smith.
He was predeceased by a son, Joe Ray, and his sisters, Roberta Brooks, Betty Kennedy, Edna Rogers and Wilma Ray.
There will be no calling hours, and a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris with the Rev. Sara Baron, pastor of the Morris United Methodist Church, officiating.

The ceremony that madse Dollie Noel and Mr. Roy Burgedorff husband and wife, was performed by Rev. J.J. Conway in the Catholic Church Tuesdaymorning at 7:30. Mr. Will Noel and Miss Emma Noel acted as groomsman and bridesmaid. A big wedding dinner was served at the Noel restaurant, to which a number of close friends and relatives were invited. The bridal couple left Wednesday evening for Denver on a wedding tour and will visit the groom's parents while there. After a few weeks they will be home in Kreemmling, Colorado, where the groom has a position as lumberman.
