Robert E. Stock, age 85, of Caroga Lake passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on November 19, 1930 in the Town of Caroga, a son of the late Roy and Mary Countryman Stock.
Robert attended local schools and honorably served in his country in the U.S. Navy. He was employed for several years as a Heavy Equipment Operator for William J. Bokus Construction and lastly for the Town of Caroga until his retirement. Mr. Stock was a member of the North Bush United Methodist Church. Robert was also a member of the North Bush V.F.W. Post 7097, Fish and Game Club and the Caroga Lake Seniors. He enjoyed his trips to Turning Stone Casino, playing poker, golfing, hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and teaching his children and grandchildren to drive.
He is survived by the love of his life of 61 years, Louise LaRowe Stock; three sons William D. Stock (Jennifer) of Johnstown, Robert F. Stock (Sharon) and Timothy S. Stock (Stacia), both of Caroga Lake; two daughters Deborah S. Subik (Steven) of Johnstown and Judy L. Subik (Andrew) of Sammonsville; two sisters Iva Zayicek of Johnstown and Loretta Ferrari of North Bush; grandchildren Willie (Melissa), Eric, Jenna (Brian), Roy, Jeanna (Scott), Mandy (Matt), Melissa (Owen), Julie (Chris), Kristin (Kevin), Stevie (Kristie), Annie, Nicole and Renee (Wade); thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert also survived his canine companions Lily and Princess who he loved so much.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother Donald Stock, one sister Versella Barney and one grandson Andrew Subik.
Cremation will be at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.

The double ring ceremony was performed at the First Methodist Church, Johnstown, by the Rev. Charles Schwartz. The church was decorated with white gladioli and palms. Mrs. Schwartz gave an organ recital and played the traditional wedding marches.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a ballerina length gown of white chantilly lace over net, fashioned with taffeta bodice and bouffant skirt. Her finger tip veil was attached to a tiara of seed pearls, and she carried a bouquet of white camellias and orchids.
Mrs. Harry Hayner, Troy, matron of honor, wore a gown of pink net, matching stole and headdress, and carried a colonial bouquet. Harry Hayner was the best man, and the ushers were Raymond Gage, Jr., and Gordon Barney.
The bride's mother wore blue faille with matching accessories and the bridegroom's mother wore navy blue lace. Their corsages were red roses.
A reception followed the ceremony at the bride's house with 150 guests attending, at which time the couple cut a 4-tiered wedding cake.
After a wedding trip to Tennessee, Mr. and Mrs. Stock will reside in a newly furnished home on the Johnstown Caroga Lake Road.
For traveling the bride wore a navy blue suit with matching accessories and a White orchid corsage.
The bride was graduated from Johnstown High School, class, of 1950 and from Ellis Hospital School of Nursing, Schenectady class of '54. She is employed on the nursing staff of Littauer Hospital.
The bridegroom also attended Johnstown High School and served four years in the U.S. Navy, aboard the flagship USS Wisconsin.
Out of town guests were from Herkimer, Meco, Dolgeville, Cobleskill, Caroga Lake , Randall, Canajoharie, Broadalhin, and Troy.

Rev. Carl Stone, assistant pastor, performed the double ring ceremony at an altar decorated with twin vases of white gladioli and mums.
Mrs. Gail Quinn, organist, played "O Beautiful Mother," "We've Only Just Begun," "Wedding Song" and "Always." The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her gown of white silk organza, worn over taffeta, was fashioned with a high wedding ring collar on a fitted bodice trimmed with appliques of peau d'ange lace encrusted with pearls. The soft A-line skirt was adorned with rows of lace and scallop-edged lace at the hemline. It swept to a cathedral length train.
The bride's veil was a cathedral-length mantilla of illusion, attached to a Camelot head piece. Her flowers were an open Colonial arrangement of three yellow roses surrounded by white miniature carnations and baby's breath. White streamers hung from the bouquet.
Miss Linda Rooney of Gloversville, sister of the bride, was maid of honor in a buttercup yellow nyesta halter A-line gown designed with a full matching floral capelet. She wore a matching picture hat and carried
three yellow long-stemmed roses accented with baby's breath and streamers.
Four other attendants were attired in similar gowns with floral capelets and picture hats in Nile green. They were Miss Judith Stock of Johnstown RD 2, sister of the bridegroom; Mrs. Deborah Murray of Maryland and twin cousins of the bride, the Misses Nadine and Nanette Albanese of Gloversville. Each carried an arrangement of yellow roses
similar to that of the honor attendant.
Robert Stock of Johnstown RD 2. brother of the bridegroom, was
best man. Ushers were Daniel Rooney and Michael Rooney of Gloversville, brothers of the bride; Daniel Bell of Albany, Paul Sedal of Johnstown, and Steven Subik of Sammonsville, brother-in-law of the bridegroom. Christopher L. Neapolitan of Riviera Beach, Fla. was ringbearer.
The mother of the bride wore a salmon quiana string-strapped gown and matching cape, white accessories and a peach carnation corsage.
The mother of the bridegroom wore a pink maracaine halter A-line gown, a headpiece of matching flowers, white accessories and a pink carbation corsage.
A reception for 250 was held at the Disabled American Veterans' Home, Johnstown, after the ceremony with guests attending from Gloversville, Johnstown, Mayfield, Broadalbin, Caroga Lake, Amsterdam, Herkimer, Schenectady, New Jersey, Maryland, Vermont and Florida. Jim Healey sang and played the guitar.
After a trip to Niagara Falls, the couple will reside in Johnstown. The bride wore a white halter dress, white accessories and a cymbidium orchid for traveling.
Attendants were presented gifts at a rehearsal party Friday night at the home of the bridegroom's parents.
The bride was honored at a bridal shower at the Meco firehouse attended by 50 persons. It was given by her attendants.
The bride, a 1975 graduate of Gloversville High School, is employed by St. Thomas Inc. The bridegroom, a 1973 graduate of Johnstown High School, is employed as a construction worker by William J. Bokus at Saratoga Springs.

Rev. Louis N. Guariniello, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony and baskets of gladioli, decorated the church.
Robert Hollenbeck of Johnstown was the organist. Mrs. Esther Bell of Johnstown, soloist, sang "O Promise Me" and "Always."
The bride was given in marriage by her father and wore a full length gown of white organza draped over taffeta which featured a high rise neckline adorned with a wedding ring collar. The fitted bodice and long puffed sleeves were accented with appliques of scalloped venise lace.
The A-line skirt had soft folds which terminated into a cathedral length train and the skirt and entire hemline were designed with lace appliques.
From the Camelot headpiece fell a cathedral length mantilla.
She carried a colonial bouquet of daisies, miniature roses and baby's breath.
Miss Judy Stock, sister of the bride, of Caroga Lake, was the maid of honor and wore a full length maize gown of nyasts with a portrait neckline; fitted bodice, long puffed sleeves and a big sash circling the semi-Empire waist, and controlled skirt.
She wore a matching picture hat and carried white daisies with a center of colored daisies and baby's breath.
Miss Diane Marucci of Caroga Lake, Miss Linda Moyer of Johnstown and Miss Lynne Subik, sister of the bridegroom, of Sammonsville, were bridesmaids and wore gowns similar to the maid of honor's only in pink, nile green and apricot, respectively. All wore matching picture hats.
Lorrie Ferrari of Caroga Lake, cousin of toe bride, was junior bridesmaid and wore a gown similar to the other attendants in lilac green and wore a matching picture hat.
Karen Subik of Sammonsville, sister of the bridegroom, was flower girl and wore a full length gown of nyasts in petal blue, similar in style to the attendants. She wore a miniature picture hat.
Her bouquet featured white daisies with a center of colored daisies to match the color of the attendants' gowns.
John Subik of Sammonsville, brother of the bridegroom was best man. Ushers were Andrew Subik and Paul Subik, both brothers of the bridegroom, of Sammonsville; William Stock of Caroga Lake, brother of the bride, and George Nicholas of Johnstown.
Jeffrey Subik, brother of the bridegroom, of Sammonsville, was the ringbearer.
The mother of the bride wore a full length pink gown of maracaine with a fitted halter bodice, A-line skirt and a fitted jacket in a pink floral design. She had white accessories and wore a corsage with pink and
white carnations.

The bride wore a powder blue pantsuit with white accessories and a corsage of carnations as a going away outfit as the couple left on a wedding trip to Florida.
Attendants were presented with gifts at a rehearsal party at the White Holland House Friday night. The bride was honored at a bridal shower April 20 at the Caroga Lake firehouse given by bridesmaids, and the grandmothers, and also on April 29 given by Miss Moyer, Miss Shayna Kumpan and Miss Marucci at Miss Marucci's parents' house.
The bride is a 1975 graduate of Johnstown High School and the bridegroom is a 1973 graduate of Johnstown High School and is self-employed as a construction worker.

Mrs. Barbara A. (Moses) LaRowe, age 82, a resident of Valley Health Services, Herkimer, formerly of East Herkimer passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2017. Her passing occurred at the nursing home in the presence of family, following a brief illness.
She was born on May 9, 1935 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Sheldon and Bernice (Filmore) Moses and educated in Herkimer schools. Barbara was previously married to Theodore LaRowe who preceded her in death. She spent 30 years with her companion, Joe Giachetti, who preceded her in death in 2000. Barbara was last employed by Valley Health Services, Herkimer, but was employed with MDS in Herkimer for over 25 years of dedicated service.
Barb and her companion Joe had racing pigeons where they raised and trained them for many years. She was most happy when in the company of her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her beloved family; her son, Gary LaRowe of Gloversville and Linda Munio and husband Clifford of Herkimer; grandchildren, Christine and Benjamin; great granddaughter, Hailey; inlaws, Louise Stock of Johnstown; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Buchanan and by inlaws, Etta Heamion and Ted LaRowe, Sr.
In keeping with Barb's wishes, there are no calling hours. Graveside memorial service at Oak Hill Cemetery.

billowing nylon tulle skirt with lace applique. She wore a finger-tip veil caught to a queen's crown of seed pearls, and carried a cascade of orchids and stephanotis.
Miss Betty Mae Moses, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. She wore a gown of red velvet and nylon net, fashioned with a strapless bodice and matching stole. Her bouffant waltz length skirt was of nylon tulle. She wore a headpiece of velvet and carried a bouquet of white carnations.
Mrs. Robert Stock, sister of the bridegroom; was the bridesmaid. She wore a red velvet gown with a portrait neckline, long tapered sleves and bouffant waltz-length skirt of nylon tulle and a matching headress. She carried a bouquet of white carnations.
Robert Stack served as the best man, while John Pizzo and Clayton Pedrick ushered.
Folloeing a reception at the Elks Club, the couple left for a trip to Niagara Falls and Canada.
The bride is a graduate of the Utica School of Beauty Culture. The bridegroom was recently discharged from the Navy. He is employed at the Finkle Wholesale Co. Gloversville.

LITTLE FALLS - Ford W. Trask, 56, of 415 West Monroe St., one of the owners and officers of the Little Falls Wholesale Co., died Sunday on his way home from a Florida vacation.
According to information received here yesterday, it was understood that Mr. and Mrs. Trask had started home from Florida Sunday morning, planning to stop in Georgia for a visit with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Jones.
En route they stopped at a motel in Northern Florida and while there Mr. Trask was stricken fatally. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

CANAJOHARIE. June 18.—Miss Beatrice M. Damsky, daughter of Mrs. Sigvard Carlson, this village. and Ford Trask, son of James I. Trask, Little Falls, were married this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Little Church Around the Corner, New York. The Rev. J. Ray performed the ceremony in the presence of the immediate families. Miss Doris Benjamin, Canajoharie, and James Trask, Little Falls, brother of the bridegroom, were the attendants.
The bride wore a navy blue net gown with navy and white accessories and a corsage of lilies of the valley. Her attendant was dressed in navy sheer crepe and wore a corsage of sweet peas.
Following the ceremony a lunchcon was served at Hotel Lexington. Tomorrow, Mr. and Mrs. Trask will leave by car for a trip to Maine and Quebec. For traveling, Mrs. Trask will wear a silk ensemble of raspberry and aqua. During the Summer they will reside in Canajoharie.
Mrs. Trask attended Canajoharie High School and is employed as sales clerk in the Smart Shop here. Mr. Trask was graduated from Little Falls High School and is assistant manager of the Little Falls Wholesale Company.
Pre-nuptial events were given by Mrs. Clifford R. Bronk, Miss Doris Benjamin, Miss Carmeta Adams and Mrs. Katherine Zoller.

Preceding the candlelight ceremony, nuptial music was played by Mrs. Leigh Whitney, organ, and Lavonne Nusbaum, the violin. The bride's attendant was her sister, Mrs. E. D. Silk. Dr. R. A. Phillips was best man. Ushers were W. G. Cunningham and Dr. Leigh Whitney. The Rev. Harold Lancaster performed the. ceremony.
A reception was held at the bride's home following the ceremony. Mrs. Cunningham and Mrs. Phillips served.
Mrs. Bloker is a graduate Iowa Wesleyan college at Pleasant and taught in the Kensett high school the past two years. Mr. Bloker finished high school at Little Falls, N. Y., and attended Iowa State Teachers college at Cedar Falls.
They will go to Long Beach Cal., where they will make their home.

Cedarville, March 29 - Wilbur Holmes, 47, Cedarville, died Friday ninght at midnight at his home, folloeing an illness of the last three months. Mr. Holmes, a former resident of Mohawk for many years, had been in poor health for a number of years. He moved to Cedarville from Mohawk about four years ago and was widely known throughout this section.
H was a member of the Mohawk Lodge I.O.O.F., joiining the same in Oneida and later transferring to Mohawk.
Mr. HGolmes was born in Siloam, Madison County, November 1, 1883. He is survived by his wife, Pearl Cristman Holmes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Cristman of Mohawk; one son Byron Wilbur Holmes; a sister, Mrs. Lucy Johnston of Cedarville; one brother, Wheeler Holmes of Oneida.
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternooon at 2 o'clock from his late home, Rev. E. D. Ridgeway officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. Mohawk Lodge of Odd Fellows will conduct their services.

ILION — John G Riesh, 89, of 386 Otsego St died Friday, July 15 in the Mohawk Valley General Hospital in Ilion
He was born April 1. 1888 in Hudson, New York, son of John and Pauline Miller Riesh. He lived in Albany and Schenectady before moving to Cedarville where he was employed by the Matteson Hotel. He retireed in 1951. He married Pearl Cristman Holmes. She died May 3, 1870. He was a veteran of World War 1, serving in the United States Army in Europe. He attended the Ilion United Methodist Church.
Surviving is one cousin, Mrs. Theodore "Emma" Jorgensen of Scotia, New York.
Funerl services will be Monday, July 18, ar 11 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, Mohawk, with the Rev. Norman Douglas Pastor of the Ilion United Methodist Church officiating. Burinal will be in Cedarville Cemetery.
