Leslie Richard Rockefeller "Les" of St. Johnsville joined his Lord on April 22, 2010, from the home at which he resided for the past 63 years.
He was born on June 6, 1924, in St. Johnsville, son of John and Martha (Mosher) Rockefeller. A lifelong resident of St. Johnsville, he was educated in St. Johnsville schools, and enlisted in WWII, serving with the Army Corps of Engineers in Africa and Italy. After being severely injured in the line of duty, he was awarded a Purple Heart. He was united in marriage with Doris E. Nellis on June 22, 1946. Leslie spent his life in the textile industry with 30 years in the local Palatine Dye.
His last employment before retiring was as head of quality control at the Johnstown Knitting Mills. He was a lifelong member of Grace Christian Church and the Masons.
Survivors include: his wife, Doris; his sisters, Beverly Puznowski and Lois Battisti; his son, Carl and wife, Denise, of Fort Plain; his daughter, Beth Close and husband, Sterling; his grandchildren, Collene Brownell, Michael Rockefeller, Jason, Kathryn, and BreAnne McGowan, Joseph DeAngelis IV, Rachel Clark and husband, Adam, Christopher and Heather Close and Amanda Rowlands; 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Kara DeAngelis; brothers, Gordon, (John) David, George and Raymond Rockefeller.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Grace Christian Church. Burial will be Monday, May 3, 2010, at 10 a.m. at St. Johnsville Cemetery. Military honors will be offered by the U.S. Army.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in Leslie's name be made to the American Heart Association or Grace Christian Church. Envelopes may be obtained at the church during the memorial service.

Robert Mapstone, 81, of Manlius, passed away Thursday at Crouse Hospital. Born in Syracuse, he was a graduate of Manlius High School and SUNY Morrisville. He was a lifelong dairy farmer in the town of Pompey.
Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church of Manlius, where he served on various committees and boards, especially the Diaconate Board. He also served on the town of Pompey Planning Board and was a member of the Farm Bureau. Bob was a pilot and always enjoyed flying his Piper Cub. He was an avid gardener and loved to restore and operate antique tractors. Bob liked to travel and spend winters in Florida.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lynn and Emma Mapstone. Survivors: his wife of 49 1/2 years, Shirley Nellis Mapstone; two daughters, Ann Morales of Fayetteville and Ellen Banks of Knoxville, TN; two sons, Mark (Cindy) of Cazenovia and Peter of Manlius; a brother, Arthur (Shirley) of Manlius; eight grandchildren, Jason Morales, Elena and Christie Banks, Jeremy and Kelsey Mapstone, and Lauren, Morgan and Taylor Mapstone; several nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Sue Widowski.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Crouse Hospital, 4S, for the care that was provided to Bob. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Manlius, 408 Pleasant Street, Manlius. Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Newell-Fay, Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Road (Rte. 92) Manlius.

Miss Grace Ella Nellis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adin A. Nellis of Fort Plain, became the bride of J. Ogden Bellinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. James D. Bellinger, St. Johnsville, on New Year's Day. The ceremony was held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at St. Johnsville, Rev. Clifford Butterer, the pastor, officiating.
Palms and baskets of white and yellow pom poms were used in decoration and bows of white tulle were at the end of each pew, Mrs. [sic] Nellis gave his daughter in marriage.
The maid of honor was Miss Patricia Rickard. Bridesmaids were Miss Gladys Homkey, Miss Jeannine McMahon, Mrs. John Robert Nellis and Miss Mary Louck.
Richard Edward Bellinger was best man for his brother. Ushers were John Hoffman, Cecil Allen, Keith Handy, and Robert Johnson.
The bride wore a gown of white satin with illusion neckline and a train. Her chapel length veil of ivory net was caught to a matching juliet cap. She carried white madonna lilies, centered with a white orchid. Her only jewelry was a string of pearls.
Miss Rickard wore a gown of aqua Paris faille. She carried a colonial boquet of carnations and pompons in rainbow colors and wore matching flowers in her hair.
Miss Homkey wore dusty rose taffeta; Miss McMahon, lettuce green; Mrs. Nellis and Miss Louck, fuchsia. All attendants wore flower headpieces which matched their boquets.
Mrs. Harold Settje, a cousin of the bride, was at the organ. The soloist was Herbert Kraft, who offered "Because," "I Love You Truly." and "At Dawning."
Mrs. Nellis, the bride's mother, wore a spring rain print with winter white hat and Mrs. Bellinger, mother of the bridegroom, chose an aqua crepe dress with black hat. Their corsages were of white roses.
A reception for 150 guests was held in the Community house, after which Mr. and Mrs. Bellinger left for a wedding trip to the western part of the state. They will be at home at RD 2, St. Johnsville, after Jan. 8.
The bride attended Fort Plain high school and the bridegroom is a graduate of St. Johnsville high. He is associated with his father in conducting a farm on the Crum Creek road.

CANAJOHARIE, Nov. 4.—Miss Charlotte Marie Saltsman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Saltsman, of Palatine Bridge, and Edward Charles Walts, son of Howard Walts and the late Mrs. Walts, Fort Plain, were married October 28 in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Stone Arabia. The Rev. Stanley Haverly, pastor of the church, performed the double ring ceremony.
The church was decorated with palms, ferns and white pompons, and tall candelabra and candlesticks with 50 lighted white candles. Miss Elizabeth Hain, organist, played the wedding music. Miss Marion Hood, St. Johnsville, sang, "Because" and "1 Love You Truly."
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white duchess satin, the bodice trimmed with alencon lace, and a full skirt which formed a long court train. Her double illusion veil, edged with satin, fell from a coronet of pearls and rhinestones. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses, centered with a white orchid. Miss, Ruth Walts, Fort Plain, cousin of the bridegroom, was maid of honor, and her gown was of raisin moon-dream taffeta. She wore a matching tiara and carried a matching muff with contrasting pompons.
Miss Patricia Barstow, Messina, Miss Edith King and Mrs. George Cronkhite, Fort Plain, and Miss Jane Settle, St. Johnsville, the bridesmaids, wore gowns similar to that of the maid of honor, in shades of gold and charteuse. They carried matching muffs with contrasting pompons. Miss Sandra Walts, cousin of the bridegroom, the flower girl, wore a raisin taffeta dress similar to the attendants and carried a basket of flowers in the colors of their gowns.
George Cronkhite, Fort Plain, was best man and the ushers were John Robert Nellis, Fort Plain, cousin of the bride, and Benjamin Nellis, Palatine Bridge.
Mrs. Saltsman, mother of the bride, wore a black gown with a yoke of aqua, trimmed with marvclla pearls, a black ostrich feather headdress and an orchid corsage.
A reception for 100 guests at the home of the bride's parents, followed the ceremony. Miss Doris Nellis, Miss Grace Ella Nellis, Miss Eleanor Saltsman, Miss Ethel Nellis, Miss Irene Ralchle, Miss Frances Smith and Miss Lois Humphrey, cousins of the bride, assisted. The house decorations were white and yellow pompoms, ferns and white candles. Miss Charlotte Wetterau, violinist, played with Miss Elizabeth Hain as accompanist.
The bride is a graduate of the Canajoharie High School in the Class of 1939 and of Albany Business College in 1942. She recently resigned her position as secretary at the Hay Trade Journal office, this village. Mr. Walts is a graduate of the Fort Plain High School in the Class of 1940 and from the General Electric Apprentice School and is a machinist in the Schenectady General Electric. Following a wedding trip to New York City, Mr. and Mrs. Walts will reside at the corner of Flower Avenue and Crane Street, Schenectady.
