CANAJOHARIE - Miss Diane G. Singer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest W. Singer of Palatine Bridge, became the bride of James F. Snell, son of Rev. and Mrs. Lester R. Snell of 86 Saratoga Boulevard, Gloversville, at a nuptial Mass at 9:45 Saturday morning at Sts. Peter and Paul's Church, Canajoharie.
Rev. Randall Patterson, assistant pastor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Amsterdam, performed the double ring ceremony.
Arrangements of white gladioli decorated the altar. A program of selected wedding music was played by Mrs. Eileen Waterman, organist. Mrs. Sandra Tatlock of Amsterdam sang, "Ave Maria," "The Lord's Prayer," and "Let Us Break Bread Together."
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a satin peau die soie Empire gown and a four tiered silk illusion veil from a headpiece of seed pearls and sequins, all designed and made by her sister, Mrs. Lorraine Gaillanza of Brooklyn. The gown, adorned with appliques of seed pearls and sequins, was designed with a sabrina lace-edged neckline, fitted bodice, long tapered sleeves, and A-Line skirt and a chapel-length train. She carried a prayer book topped with two white Georgianna orchids and stephanotis.
Mrs. Rita Smith of Amsterdam was matron of honor. She wore a lime green chiffon Empire gown over taffeta fashioned with a high neckline edged with rusching, a tucked bodice trimmed with venise lace, bishop sleeves edged with rusching and a softly sheared skirt. She wore matching bows and streamers for a headpiece and carried a Colonial bouquet of yellow and green daises, baby's breath and green streamers.
Miss Bernadette Krajewski of Amsterdam and Miss Claudia Savino of New York City were bridesmaids. Joanne Gaillanza of Brooklyn, niece of the bride, was junior bridesmaid.
The bridesmaids wore maize chiffon gowns designed like that of the matron of honor and matching ribbon headbows with streamers. They carried bouquets of yellow daises, baby's breath and yellow streamers.
Gerald Smith of Amsterdam was best man. Ushers were Ernest T Singer of Canajoharie, brother of the bride, Paul Fryzel of Amsterdam and Philip Gaillanza of Brooklyn, nephew of the bride.
The mother of the bride wore a frost pink crepe dress, designed with a high beaded neckline and long puffed chiffon sleces with beaded cuffs. She wore matching accessories and a corsage of pink varigated miniature carnations.
The mother of the bridegroom was attired in an aqua crepe and lace coat dress. She wore aqua accessories and a corsage of white miniature carnations.
A reception for 100 was held after the ceremony at Elm Tree Hall, Fort Plain. Guests attending were from Canajoharie, Fort Plain, Amsterdam, New York City, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Texas.
For traveling to Washington, D.C. and southern states, the bride chose a yellow pant suit, matching accessories and a white orchid lifted from her bridal bouquet. The couple will reside in Nelliston.
Attendants were presented gifts at a rehersal party Friday night at the home of the bride's parents. The bride was honored at previous showers given by her matron of honor and by Mrs. Virginia Sheridan of Canajoharie.
The bride is a graduate of Canajoharie Central School and Ellis Hospital School ofNursing, Schenectady. She is employed as a registered nurse by the Palatine Nursing Home. The bridegroom, a graduate of Gloversville High School, is employed as inhilation therapist by St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.

Robert K. Frederick, 51, of 378 West Fulton Street, died at 11:30 last night at Littauer Hospital.
Born in Gloversville, he had always lived here. A glove cutter by trade, he was employed for the past 18 years by the Crescendoe Glove Company, Johnstown.
Mr. Frederick was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Bleecker Fish and Game Club and of the committee of the church's Boy Scout troop.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Leona Frederick, one son, Kurt A. Frederick of Gloversville; one daughter, Mrs. George Ashton of Gloversville; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alpha Frederick Sr, Gloversville.

Pvt. Alpha Frederick, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Alpha Frederick of Bleecker Stage. has received his honorable discharge from the U. S. Army and arrived home Tuesday. His wife. Alma Frederick, whom he married in Oklahoma, preceded him here by two days.
Pvt. Frederick entered the service in July of 1942, and served two years overseas in Italy. In the drive on Rome, he was wounded by a land mine in both hips, for which he received the Purple Heart. He trained at Camp Draber, Okla.

Alpha Frederick Jr., 52, of 47 South Kingsboro Avenue, died at 2 yesterday afternoon at Littauer Hospital. He was taken to the hospital by the Ambulance Service of Fulton County after being stricken ill at home yesterday morning. Death was attributed to natural causes.
He was born Sept. 20,1920, in Gloversville and was a lifelong resident of this city. He had been employed as a dyer by Twin City Leather Company.
Mr. Frederick was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Bleecker Fish and Game Club.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, the former Alma Goodlier; two sons, Alpha Frederick III and Gary Frederick, both of Gloversville; four daughters, Mrs. Neal Sherwood of Glassboro, N.J., Miss Edna Frederick, Mrs. Robert Le Fever and Miss Marion Frederick, all of Gloversville.

Fulton County Judge Mario Albanese performed the double ring ceremony. Assisting in the rite was Rev. Neil Sherwood of Glassboro, N.J., brother-in-law of the bridegroom. Dominic Peters played selected organ music.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white crepe halter gown made by her mother. It was fashioned with ruffling on the collar and at the hemline. She wore a lace-edged picture hat banded with tulle and orange blossom appliques. She carried a Colonial bouquet of pastel-colored flowers.
Miss Melanie Morro of Gloversville was her sister's maid of honor in a long-sleeved melon gown with a button and cut-out motif at the neckline and ruffle-edged hemline. She carried a single white rose with pastel-colored streamers.
Miss Edna Frederick of Whitmore Lake, Mich, and Mrs. Carolyn Le Fever of Meco, sisters of the bridegroom, Miss Claudia Burton of Scranton, Pa. and Miss Kathleen Vertucci of Gloversville were attendants.
They wore cotton crepe blouses in peach, blue, pink and yellow, respectively, with matching, long, print ruffled skirts. The blouses, imported from India, were trimmed with rose motif embroidery. Each carried a single white rose accented with pastel streamers.
Donald Merkt of Gloversville was best man. Ushers were Kurt Frederick, cousin of the bridegroom, and Peter Billington, both of Gloversville, Donald Balcum of Whitmore Lake and Gary Weaver of Scranton.After the ceremony a reception for 50 was held at the inn with guests attending from Gloversville, Albany, New York City, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan. The couple left for a trip to Maine.
Attendants were presented gifts at a rehearsal party Saturday night at the home of the bride.
The bride and bridegroom both are graduates of Gloversville High School. The bride will be a junior at State University at Albany in the fall, transferring from State University at Buffalo. The bridegroom received a B.S. degree in mathematics from State University at Buffalo this year

Victor J. Hyde, 67, of 58 West Eleventh Avenue, proprietor of the Vic Hyde Sales and Service auto agency, died at 5:15 yesterday afternoon at the Johnstown Hospital where he had been a patient the last three weeks. He had been in ill health eight months.
He was born Oct. 21, 1900, in Johnstown and had resided in Gloversville for the last five years. He had operated the auto agency at 415 South Main Street for 47 years.
Mr. Hyde was a member of the Gloversville Elks Lodge, Johnstown Eagles Lodge and the Fulton County Republican Committee. He was president of the Mohawk - Hudson Humane Society and past president of the Fulton County Automobile Dealers Association. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Survivors are his wife, the former Miss Elena Ardizzone; one son, Frank Hyde of Star Route, Hagaman; two brothers, George Hyde of Johnstown and Clifford Hyde of Gloversville; five sisters, Mrs. Arthur Fleming of Canajoharie, Mrs. Francis Hale, Mrs. Donald England and Mrs. William Taglialatela, all of Johnstown, and Mrs. Angelo Entelisano of Las Vegas, Nev.; one granddaughter, several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Beatrice E. Hanson, Sr., 59, Hanson road, Town of Mohawk, died early Tuesday at the Johnstown Hospital. She had been ill one week and hospitalized one day.
She was born Nov. 3, 1904, in Johnstown, a daughter of Frederick and Cordelia Steenburgh Hyde, and had resided in the Town of Mohawk for the past 42 years. Her last place of employment was the former Scotsmoor Company, Johnstown.
Survivors include her husband, Richard L. Hanson. Sr.; one daughter, Mrs. Wayne Brownell, Tribes Hill; five sons, Richard L. Hanson, Jr., George F. Hanson, Charles D. Hanson, David V. Hanson, and Kenneth E. Mrs. Genevieve H. Fleming, 81, of Canajoharie, died Sunday evening, April 7, at Arnot-Ogden Hospital at Elmira following a long illness.
Mrs. Fleming was bom in Sammonsville, July 31, 1909, the daughter of Frederick and Cordelia Steenburgh Hyde. She was a 1926 graduate of Johnstown High School.
On Aug. 10, 1929, she was married to Arthur M. Fleming in Johnstown.
She had been a resident of Canajoharie since 1931. She was a mother and homemaker.
Mrs. Fleming was of the Lutheran denomination. She was a former choir member of Choir Guild of St. Mark’s Church, Canajoharie, Canajoharie Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and former member of Girl Scout Council.
Survivors, beside her husband, include five daughters, Marilyn Bellinger of Canajoharie, Phyllis Mallery of Sharon Springs, Lois Fleming of Milwaukee, Wisc., Joan Swain, Niskayuna, and Janice Webb of Charlotte, NC.; a sister, Mrs. Marilyn Thelialatela of Johnstown; seven grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service were 11 a.m., Wednesday, today, at Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Devie Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda.

Arthur M. Fleming, 102, of Smith Street, Canajoharie, died on Friday, August 29, while in the presence of his family, following a brief illness. Mr. Fleming was born on January 21, 1901, in Johnstown, and was the son of Patrick J. Fleming and Delia Davin Fleming.
He graduated from Johnstown High School in 1919, and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from New York University in 1923. He was employed as an accountant for Beech Nut Co., in Canajoharie, for 40 years before retiring in 1967. He had been previously employed as an accountant for General Electric International in Schenectady.
From 1966 to 1970, he served as mayor of the village of Canajoharie. He was a former treasurer and member of the Canajoharie Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years. Mr. Fleming also held memberships at the Exempt Volunteer Fire Department, the Beech-Nut 25 year Club, and was a former dispatcher for Mid-country Volunteer Ambulance Company. Mr. Fleming was an avid hunter until the age of 95.
On August 10, 1929, he married Genevieve R. Hyde Fleming in Saratoga Springs. His wife died on April 7, 1991. Mr. Fleming had five daughters. One, Joan Swain, died on November 9, 1995. Surviving daughters are Marilyn J. Bellinger, of Canajoharie; Phyllis A. Mallery, of Sharon Springs; Lois J. Fleming, of Milwaukee Wis., and Janice A. Webb, of Charlotte, N.C. Fleming leaves seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one great, great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

The many friends of Miss Genevieve R Hyde, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hyde, 22 Cady street, and Arthur M. Fleming, son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick J. Fleming, 28 Madison street, were pleasantly surprised when announcement was made Saturday night that the popular couple had been married in Saratoga Springs on August 10.
The ceremony was performed at the rectory of the Bethesda Episcopal church of Saratoga Springs, by Rev. Irving Rouillard, rector. The couple was unattended.
The newlyweds kept the marriage a secret for four months, their parents even being unsuspecting of the union. Since the announcement has been made, the young people have been the recipients of a large number of congratulations from their widespread circle of friends.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Fleming are graduates of Johnstown High school and Mr. Fleming was also graduated from New York University, with the class of 1925. He is at present employed in the accounting department of the Beechnut Packing Company at Canajoharie.
They will make their home with the bridegroom's parents for the present.

Mrs. Ella Spraker Hyde, 89, of Pleasant Street, Gloversville, died Monday at Nathan Littauer Hospital. A lifelong Gloversville resident, Mrs. Hyde was a graduate of Gloversville High School and attended Gloversville Business School.
She was of the Methodist faith.
Her husband, Clifford Hyde, died in 1981.
Survivors include a daughter, Laura Wager of Gloversville; a granddaughter and two great-grandsons.
Private graveside services will be in Fern Dale Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by Hollenbeck Funeral Home.

Kenneth B. Hyde, U. of 11 East Montgomery Street, died unexpectly at 4:45 this morning at his home. Death was due to a heart attack.
Born Nov. 3, 1913 in Sammonsville, son of Frederick G. and Cordellia Catherine (Steenburg) Hyde, he was a lifelong resident of Fulton County.
He and bis brother. Clifford, operated Hyde Bros, garage 11 North Street. Gloversville.
Mr. Hyde was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
The survivors are his father, who resides in Tribes Hill; two daughters, Miss Susan Hyde of Thompsonville Conn., and Mrs. Ralph Hayner of Rockwood; two sons, Kenneth Douglas Hyde, U S. Navy, and Robert Edward Hyde, residing at home; six sisters, Mrs. Francis Hale, Mrs. Donald England, Mrs. Angelo Entelisano and Mrs. William Taglialatela of Johnstown. Mrs. Richard Hanson of Tribes Hill and Mrs. Arthur Fleming of Canajoharie; three brothers, and Clifford Hyde of Gloversville, George and Victor of Johnstown two; granddaughters, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Oliver H. England, 64, of 115 1/2 East Clinton Street, Johnstown, died Thursday in Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. She has been in failing health for two years.
Born in Sammonsville on July 4, 1916, she was the daughter of Frederick and Cordelia Steenburgh Hyde. On Oct. 8, 1938, she was married to Donald England.
She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church and the Johnstown Hospital and Wells House Auxiliaries.
Survivors in addition to her husband are a son, James G. England, Johnstown; four sister, Mrs. Katharine Hale and Mrs. William Taglialatela, both of Johnstown, Mrs. Arthur Fleming, Canaioharie, and Mrs.Angelo Entslisano, Sparks, Nev.; a brother, Clifford Hyde, Gloversville; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Johnstown, with the Rev. Dr. George M. Gray, officiating, Interment was made in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.

Marriage Notes for James G England and Bonnie V Roe

Miss Bonnie V. Roe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James G. Roe of 115 East Fourth Avenue, and Army Pfc. James G. England, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald M. England of 115 1/2 East Clinton Street, were united in marriage at a candlelight wedding ceremony at 5 Monday afternoon at Christ Lutheran Church.
Rev. Richard E. Shemenske, co-pastor, performed the double ring ceremony.
The church was decorated with white mums and candelabras. Orville Batty of Gloversville played traditional wedding music on the organ.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a full length gown of Alencon lace and white crepe over taffeta, featuring a scalloped sabrina neckline, fitted bodice, and long sleeves. The semi-empire waist was accented with scalloped lace, whilethe crepe skirt had soft fluidlines. The gown was designedwith an all-lace shoulder train terminating into a chapel length. A bouffant veil of silk illusion was attached to her crown embellished with Alencon lace, clusters of seed pearls, and oat pearls.
The bride carried a cascade bouquet of white sweet roses.
Miss Connie A. Roe was her sister's maid of honor. She wore a full length gown of velvet and georgette over taffeta in turquoise and aqua. The all velvet bodice was designed with a circle neckline, fitted bodice, and short sleeves ending in a circle ruffle. The semi-empire waist was accented with a satin band ending in the back with bow and streamers. The georgette skirt had soft straight lines. She wore a matching headpiece and bouffant veil.
Miss Jamie Harding of Johnstown was a bridesmaid. She was attired similar to the maid of honor. The maid of honor carried a cascade bouquet of yellow miniature carnations with yellow sweetheart roses, while the bridesmaid carried a cascade bouquet of yellow miniature carnations with aqua carnations.
Miss Valarie Roe, sister of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a full length gown of peau in turquoise with an oval neckline, fitted bodice, and brief sleeves. She wore a matching headpiece and bouffant matching veil, and carried a basket of garlands of yellow miniature carnations with white carnations and yellow streamers.
The bride's mother wore a wet pink georgette dress with black patent leather accessories, a pink whimsey hat, and a corsage of an American Beauty rose surrounded by pale pink rosebuds. The bridegroom's mother wore a celery green 2 piece wool outfit with avocado green accessories.
William Taglialatela of Johnstown, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man Ushers were James Steenburgh and Steven Pelosi, both of Johnstown.
A reception for approximately 100 persons was held at the Rainbow Restaurant immediately after the ceremony.
For a wedding trip to New York City, the bride chose a cadet blue wool dress styled with a dropped waistline and pleated skirt. White eyelet lace
with a blue velvet bow accented the hip line, and the neck and sleeves were also trimmed in white eyelet lace. She wore a cranberry red, double breasted looped, wool coat, and a corsage of white sweetheart roses. Her accessories were black.
The couple will reside at 405 West Avenue C, Killeen, Tex
The bride is a 1965 graduate of Johnstown High School, attended Fulton - Montgomery Community College, and was employed at Genesee Auto Supply, Gloversville.
The bridegroom is a 1964 The bridegroom is a 1964 graduate of Johnstown High School, attended Fulton-Montgomery Community College, and was employed at Gifford Motor Sales in Johnstown prior to enlisting in the Army last April. He is stationed at Ft Hood. Tex.
A 4-tier wedding cake made by Mrs Ralph A Sheldon, aunt of the bride, was served at the reception.
Guests attended from Syracuse, Port Byron, Mayfield and St. Johnsville.
