Miss Ethel May Glade, daughter of Mrs. Maude Glade of Fonda, and Lewis W. Wemple, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Wemple, also Fonda, were married at the Reformed Church in the village on Dec. 28.
Rev. John F. Egy officiated at the double ring ceremony, held at -'clock in the afternoon.
The bride wore a dress of white cascade with satin cummerbund and a hat of pleated white nylon. Her corsage was of red roses.
Mrs. Joseph Ault was matronof onor for her cousin, wearing an embroidered tangerine dresswith satin cummerbund and toast colored accessories. Her corsage was of white carnations,
Leslie T. Gill served as best man.
A reception followed, in the church parlors. The bride's mother wore a blue print dress with black accessorles and the mother of the bridegroom was in gray. Their corsages were of red roses.
Mr. and Mrs. Wemple are residing in Fultonville. The bride, a graduate of Schoharie Central School, is employed as a secretary at General Electric Co. here, and Mr. Wemple is taking the apprenetiship course at GE.

Leona Jackson Hoffman, 66, of Johnstown, died Sunday morning, Sept. 29, at home after a long illness.
Mrs. Hoffman was born in Keck Center and attended Johnstown schools.
On Feb. 2, 1952, she was married to Ernest H. Hoffman.
She had been employed for Lee Dyeing co. for 30 years, retiring in 1990.
Mrs. Hoffman had been a member of the Women of the Moose, the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) and weight reporter for the TOPS organization.
Survivors, in addition to her widower, include two sons, E. William "Bill" Hoffman of Richmond, VA and Jim Hoffman of Fonda; a daughter, Virginia Saltsman of Fort Plain; two sisters, Thelma Shutter of Palatine Bridge and Marion "Jackie' Smith of Gloversville; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m.. Wednesday, Oct. 2 (today), at A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
Calling hours were Tuesday. Oct. 1, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.

Miss Leona M Jackson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs John Jackson, 7 Water street, and Morris F. Denmark, son of Mrs. Hattie Denmark, 81 Cayadutta street, and the late
Adalbert Denmark, were united in marriage this afternoon.
The ceremony was performed at 2:30 in the parsonage of the United Presbyterian church. by the Rev. James W. Hood. The attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Orvis Williams of this city, the latter of whom is the bridegroom's sister.
The bride wore a navy blue crepe dress with navy blue accessories, and a corsage of red roses, Mrs. Williams wore a gray suit with black accessories and a shoulder corsave of pink roses.
A wedding dinner was served anda reception held at the bridegroom's home following the ceremony, with twenty-five relatives and friends in attendance. The Denmark home was decorated for the occasion, a color scheme of pink and white being carried out. A large wedding cake was in the center of the bridal table.
After a short wedding trip the newly weds will take up their residence with his mother, at 81 Cayadutta street, for the present. Mr. Denmark is employed by the Fuller Construction Co. in Schenectady.

Ernest H. Hoffman , 88, of County Route 197, Johnstown, died in the Wells
Nursing Home Friday after a long illness.
Born Oct. 5, 1908 in Saratoga Springs, he is the son of August and Mary Hoffman
and came to Johnstown in 1951. Mr. Hoffman was an operating engineer and worked out of the Albany Local for various local construction companies.
On Feb. 2, 1952 he married Leona M. Jackson. She died Sept. 29, 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Saltsman of Fort Plain; two sons, E. William Hoffman of South Hill, Va. and James Hoffman of Fonda; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 10 a.m. to noon Monday prior to a service at 12 p.m. from
the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.

15TH AAF IN ITALY S/Sgt. John D. Moynehan, Jr., 27, veteran lower turret gunner, of 300 Fon Claire street, Johnstown, has been awarded the Third Oak Leaf cluster to the Air Medal, it was announced by 15th AAF headquarters.
In the words of the citation, the award was made "for meritorious achievement in aerial flight while participating in sustained operational activities against the enemy."
Sergeant Moynehan is stationed overseas with a veteran B-2 Liberator bomber group which has flown more than 120 combat missions. The group is commanded by Lt. Col. Joseph G. Russell of 114 W. Rosewood street, San Antonio, Tex.
He entered the armed forces April 8, 1941 and received gunnery training at Tyndall Field, Fla. His wife and son reside at 300 Fon Claire street.
Sergeant Moynehan recently returned to this country after completing fifty missions and left about ten days ago for Atlantic City after spending a 21-day furlough here.
He is the husband of the former Miss Catherine V. Roddy, 300 Fon Clair street, and son of Mrs. Almeda Moynehan 50 Pleasant Avenue.- Obituary (Find A Grave)
Mr. John D. Moynehan, 92, of Johnstown, N.Y., passed away at his home on Nov. 11, 2009.
He was born on Nov. 21, 1916, in Johnstown, the son of John D. and Almeda Frederick Moynehan. He was a graduate of Johnstown High School and a 1939 graduate of Holy Cross College in Worcester, Mass.
Mr. Moynehan served in the U.S. Armed Forces; he served one year in the infantry, and three and one half years in the Army Air Force. He served with the 15th Air Force in the Mediterranean Theater and was a ball turret gunner for more than 50 missions over Germany. Mr. Moynehan received the following medals and commendations: The American Defense Service Medal, EAME Campaign Clusters, with 5 bronze stars, the Air Medal, with 4 oak leaves, the Distinguished Unit Badge and the Certificate of Commendation for Valor.
In 1945, he joined, as a partner, A. Frederick and Co., distributor of fuel oil products. In 1955 he became President of the company and introduced Ready-Mix concrete to the area and expanded this area of the business. As President of A. Frederick, Inc., he was integrally involved in purchasing, selling, job planning, financial, personnel, union negotiations and public relations.
Mr. Moynehan was a member of St. Patrick's Church and The Knights of Columbus. He served 6 years on the Board of Directors of the Johnstown YMCA and also served on the Board of Directors of the Empire State Sand and Gravel Assoc. He served as an agent for the Class of 1939 Holy Cross College Helps in Fund Raising and interviewed prospective candidates of admission.
Mr. Moynehan was united in marriage, Dec. 26, 1941, to the former Catherine Roddy, who passed away Aug. 23, 2000. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Moynehan, of Johnstown; two sons, John D. Moynehan Jr., of New Port, R.I. and David J. Moynehan of New York City, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara Moynehan. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Ehle Funeral Home, 15 N. William St. Johnstown, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Church. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an ankle-length gown of pink dotted swiss with puffed sleeves, an empire waist and Victorian collar. She wore a wreath headpiece of stephanotis, daisies, blue asters and baby's breath with pink streamers, and carried a small bouquet that matched the headpiece.
Mrs. Guy E. Alexander Jr., of Rome, was matron of honor and wore a peasant blouse with pink ankle-length gingham skirt, accented with a ruffle at the hemline. She wore a cluster of flowers in her hair and carried a small matching bouquet.
Miss Elizabeth S. Johnson, sister of the bride, was junior bridesmaid and was dressed the same as the matron of honor.
David J. Moynehan, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.
The mother of the bride wore a green chiffon outfit with white accessories and a gardenia corsage.
The mother of the bridegroom wore a blue silk ensemble with white accessories and a gardenia corsage.
A reception was held after the ceremony at the home of the bride's parents. The couple will reside at 214 Olney Street, Providence, R.I.

Frederick W. Clute, 78, of 182 South Kingboro Ave., Gloversville, N.Y., died July 8, 1988 in Nathan Latteur Hospital in Gloversville after a brief illness.
He was born April 12, 1910 in New York City the son of Lloyd S. and Isabelle Frederick Clute. He was married in 1939 to the former Etta Bradshaw who survives.
He was a lifetime resident of the Gloversville Johnstown area and a graduate of Johnstown High School. He attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Ill, and Cooper Union in New York City. He was employed by A. Frederick, Inc. in Gloversville for several years. He was employed by GE in Schenectady from 1941 to 1943. He was later employed by Rudolph Jewelers of Gloversville and from 1957 to his retirement in 1981 as a saleman for Rosbach Photo Service.
He played in many local area bands and in 1944 he formed the Freddy Clute Orchestra which continued until 1981.
He served in the Army from 1943 to 1945 serving with the rank of corporal.
He attended the First Baptist Church of Gloversville, was a member of Gloversville Masonic Lodge #429, a member of the Musicians Local #163.
Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Brown of Gloversville and Mrs. Cheryl Clute - Marshall of Auburn; two granddaughters and two cousins.
Friends and family are invited to attend Graveside Service on Monday, July 11, 1988 in Johnstown Cemetery, Johnstown, N.Y.

The ceremony was performed in elaborate settings at the brides home, Saturday, February 8.
Mrs. McNeal, a graduate of the Ward-Belmont School in Nashville, Tenn., and attendant at the University of Wisconsin, appeared on the stage in the cast of "Tattle
Tales," in which Frank Fay and Barbar a Stanwyck were starred and also in the cast of "An Evening's Entertainment," headed by Ed. Wynn.
Mr. McNeal, a Cleveland attorney, was graduated from the University of Ohio and from the law school at Western Reserve.
Mr. and Mrs. McNeal will be at home after March 1, in Lakewood, Ohio, following an extended West Indian honeymoon.
The bridegroom is a son of J. H. McNeal, who will be remembered by many Fulton County residents as one of the star pitchers of the old A-J-G baseball team of the State league.

Lewis S. Frederick, 72, of Argersinger Road, Fultonville, died Monday at home
after a long illness.
Born in Tribes Hill, on Feb. 14, 1924, he was the son of Lewis S. Frederick Sr.,
and Marion Albrecht. Mr. Frederick attended local schools.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Frederick was a truck driver for Randall Implement, retiring earlier this year, due to the onset of illness.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Williams Frederick, whom he married Aug. 1,
1970; three daughters, Cindy Monk of Fultonville, Rose Palmer of Rochester and
Kathy Thompson of Wichita, Kan.; four sons, Roger Frederick of Amsterdam, Scott
Frederick of Fultonville, Joseph and Lewis Paul Frederick, both of Rochester; four sisters, Beverly Dutcher of Gloversville, Marie Doyle of Johnstown, Susan Bailey of Hope, Hamilton County, and Shirley Van Lone of Indiana; three brothers, Gene Frederick of Johnstown, Charles Frederick of Gloversville and Richard Frederick of Fonda; seven grandchildren; and several greatgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E.
Main St., Johnstown, with the Rev. Williams officiating. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Fern Dale Cemetery.

Timothy L. Frederick, 20, of St. Johnsville RD 1, who was killed about 9:15 yesterday morning when the auto he was driving went off East Road in front of his home in Lassellsville, is survived by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
The survivors are his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Frederick Jr. of St. Johnsville RD 1,; his mother, Mrs. Mary Adamovich Crance of Hilton, Monroe County; two brothers, Lewis P. Frederick and Joseph Frederick, both of Hilton; two sisters, Mrs. Eugene Thompson of Augusta, Kan., and Mrs. Trevor Palmer of Hilton.
The victim resided in the Lassellsville area for two years.
Frederick had worked for the last six months in the shipping department of the Keymark Corporation in Fonda.
He was born Aug. 8, 1952, in Amsterdam and attended grade school in Johnstown, junior high school in Augusta, and attended senior high school in Hilton.
Frederick was pronounced dead at Littauer Hospital by Dr. Richard Wagner, after the body was ordered removed to the hospital by Fulton County coroner Jerome Schmitt, doctor of chiropractic, who went to the scene.
Schmitt said that an autopsy was performed yesterday afternoon but the results are not available yet.
Sheriff John A. Brown, Sgt. Joseph Brunetto, Deputies Mark Lindsay and Edward Jasewicz went to the scene and found the auto wrapped around a tree which was about 10 inches in diameter, according to the report.
Besides his immediate family, Frederick is survived by paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Frederick Sr. of Johnstown; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Martha Adamovich of Port Neches, Tex.; several nieces, nephews cousins, aunts and uncles.

Marion F. Merrill Smith, age 92, of Johnstown, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 8, 1925, in Gloversville, a daughter of the late Myron James and Florence Frederick Merrill.
Mrs. Smith attended Gloversville schools. Marion was united in marriage to Albert Smith on October 28, 1945, in Johnstown by the Rev. Wilmer Zuelike, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was a career leather worker and was last employed at Berger Leather in Gloversville.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia F. Fleszar of town of Johnstown; daughter-in-law, Jana Smith of Broadalbin; one brother, Jack Merrill (Pat) of Watertown; one sister, Joan Anadio (Joe) of Mayfield; two grandsons, James Tessitore and Jonathan Smith; two granddaughters, Stacy Dillenbeck (Shawn) and Jennifer Smith; several nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and cousins.
Marion was predeceased by her husband, Albert Smith, who passed on June 8, 2010; son, Lewis A. Smith, who passed in 2016; brother, Lewis Merrill, who passed in service at Okinawa in 1945; brother, Robert Merrill in 1999; sister, Elizabeth Lewandowski in 2010; sister, Ruth Hill in 2011; and by great-granddaughter, Amanda Fleszar.
Interment will be in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown immediately following the funeral service.

The condition of Mrs. Kenneth Hulsaver, who was partially overcome by illuminating gas in her home, 1 West street, yesterday afternoon about 4 was reported "good" at Littauer hospital this morning.
The 21-year-old woman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Myron J. Merrill, 109 South Judson street, Gloversville, was found in her heme yesterday afternoon by Patrolman Donald Ruch. who had been summoned by neighbors.
She was treated by Dr. Arthur Howard and removed to the hospital in the Wassung-Brown & Ehle ambulance.

The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Edward Hill of Canajoharie, wore a full length gown of white silk organza draped over taffeta. Her high rise neckline was adorned with a wedding ring collar of scalloped venise lace.
The fitted bodice was accented with lace appliques and encrusted with pearls, and her long puffed sleeves ended in deep lace cuffs. The A-line skirt was designed with venise lace appliques throughout and ended in a cathedral length train. Scalloped venise lace accented the entire hemline.
From her Camelot headpiece fell a matching mantilla.
Mrs. Margaret Filmer of Canajoharie was matron of honor, attired in a gown of aqua floral design, organza over taffeta, with a portrait neckline, halter bodice, controlled skirt, and matching fitted jacket with capelet.
She wore a matching picture hat and carried a bouquet of daisies with baby's breath, an aqua ribbon draped from the flowers.
Her other attendants included Miss Dede Feeney, in a gown of maize floral over maize taffeta; Miss Linda Piece, candy floral over candy taffeta; and Mrs.Deborah Baker, pink floral over pink taffeta; all of St. Johnsville.
Their flowers were bouquets of daisies and baby's breath with a ribbon draped from the flowers, matching the color of their gowns.
Harold Berry III of Mayfield, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Robert W. Hill, brother of the bride; James Berry, brother of the bridegroom; and Maynard Baker, all of St. Johnsville.
For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Hill wore a mint green polyester gown with floral jacket. She wore white accessories and orchid flowers.
The mother of the bridegroom wore a blue polyester floor length gown with cape sleeves, white accessories, and orchid flowers.
A reception for 125 was held at the Rainbow Restaurant, Johnstown, with music by the Country Strings and guests from Gloversville, Johnstown, Ephratah, Amsterdam, Canajoharie, and Massachusetts.
For traveling to Indian Lake, the bride chose a blue pant suit with white accessories, and red roses. The couple will reside at St. Johnsville RD1.
The bride is a Johnstown High School graduate, and the bridegroom attended Johnstown High School and works at Milligan and Higgins, Johnstown.

Miss Cora Adams Brown, daughter of Mrs. Cora S. Brown of 38 Highland Terrace and the late Walter R. Brown, was united in marriage to John P. Frederick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chancy Frederick Jr. of 17 Poole Avenue, at 2 Saturday afternoon at the Fremont Street United Methodist Church.
Rev. Albert M. Brockway, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony in a setting of white gladioli, pink carnations, and baby's breath.
Mrs. Marilyn Powers, organist, played "I Love You Truly," "Because," "O Promise Me," "Liberstraum," and "Somewhere My Love."
The bride, unescorted, wore a white gown of peau de seau and French chantilly lace, with an all-lace bodice, an open-neck bolera effect and seed pearls along the fitted sleeves and ruffled cuffs. Her semi-empire waist encircled a full flowing skirt and chapel trim.
She wore a matching white picture hat trimmed with lace and a 2-tier veiling, and carried a hand bouquet of pink butterfly rose, baby's breath, and leatherleaf foliage.
Mrs. Sheila Wotzak of Schenectady, was matrn of honor, in a hot pink gown of polyester double knit, with a sleeveless draped empire bodice with flared skirt. A separate long-sleeved jacket tied into a drape at the bustline was edged with crochet.
She also wore a matching color picture hat with satin ribbon, flowers, and veiling, and carried a hand bouquet of white butterfly rose, baby's breath, and leatherleaf foliage.
Webster Frederick of Gloversville, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Brown wore a nile green gown of polyester chiffon. The bodice, a high neck with matching color venise lace and pearls featured long sleeves, an empire waist, and an insert panel on the skirt.
She wore matching nile green accessories and a corsage of white roses.
The mother of the bridegroom was attired in a mint green polyester organza coat and dress ensemble. The dress was sleeveless with a V-neck edged with silver braiding, a silverbraided empire skirt, and an allchiffon coat with puffed sleeves and braiding at the collar. She wore white accessories and a corsage of white roses.
After the wedding, a reception for 60 was held at the church hall, with guests attending from Gloversville, Schenectady, and Norwich, Conn.
For her wedding trip to Niagara Falls and parts, of Canada, the bride chose a mint green pant suit with beige accessories and wore a corsage of white roses.
The couple will be residing at 38 Highland Terrace upon their return.
Attendants were presented with gifts at a rehearsal party Friday night at the Rainbow Restaurant, Johnstown, hosted by the parents of the bridegroom.
The bride was previously honored at a shower Aug. 7 at the home of Mrs. Nancy Reynolds, 7 Wooster Street, and another on Aug. 23 at the home of Mrs. Louise Frederick, Western Boulevard, by Mrs. Frederick; the mothers of the bride and bridegroom, and Mrs. Shirley Taylor.
Both bride and bridegroom are Gloversville High School graduates and are employed at Treher and Jung Inc. The bridegroom also attended the State University at Oswego.

Marriage Notes for Sadie M Frederick and Harold Yugar Olson
-50th Anniversary (Leader-Hrald, Gloversville-Johnstown, NY, Tuesday, July 15, 1975)
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Olson of 15 Poole Avenue last month observed their 50th wedding anniversary.
The couple was honored at a dinner reception Sunday at the Rainbow Restaurant, Johnstown, arranged by their daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Petrak of Boulder, Colo., and son, Richard Olson of Gloversville. The children are twins.
Mr. and Mrs. Chancy Frederick of Gloversville, brother and sister-in-law of the bride, who were the attendants at the wedding, served as toastmasters at the reception.
They presented a program reenacting the wedding ceremony uniting the honored couple and some events of their 50 years of marriage.
Mrs. Alma Brunner and her son, Kerry Brunner, piano and organ duet, provided music for the celebration event.
Mr. and Mrs. Olson were united in marriage June 4, 1925, at Fremont Street United Methodist Church by Rev. David W. Reid, pastor at the time.
Olson, a plumber and steam fitter by occupation, retired about two years ago from Treher and Jung Inc. by whom he was employed more than 50 years. He now does home repairs and extensive reading.
Mrs. Olson, the former Sadie Frederick, keeps active with the couple's four grandchildren and one great-grandson. She likes to do crocheting.

Miss Constance Evelyn Pinkham of Tinkham Road, Springfield, Mass., was united in marriage Sunday, March 1, to Richard Olson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Olson of 15 Poole Avenue.
The double ring ceremony was performed at 12:30 in Grace Chapel, Trinity Methodist Church, Springfield, by the Rev. H. Hughes Wagner, D. D. Mrs. Marilyn Petrak, of this city, twin sister of the bridegroom sang "Ava Maria" and "The Lord's Prayer."
The bride was given in marriage by Ira E. Klase. She had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Klase. Attired in white nylon satin, the bride's gown was styjed with a fitted bodice and lace yoke, full skirt and long train. Her finger tip veil was attached to a coronet outlined in seed pearls. She carried a bridal bouquet of white carnations,
roses and stephanotis.
The bride's sister, Miss Elizabeth Pinkham, was maid of honor. She was gowned in yellow taffeta, waltz length, and in her hair she wore yellow roses to match her wrist corsage.
Susan Zele, granddaugter of Mrs. Klase was flower girl. She wore white organdy and carried a basket of red and white carnations.
Webster Frederick of Gloversville served as best man. Ushers were William Klase of Springfield and Robert Klase of West Hartford Conn.
A reception for 75 followed at the Klase home. Receiving, Mrs. Klase wore green crepe with black accessories. The bridegroom' s mother chose dark blue taffeta with navy accessories. The couple left on a wedding trip to New York City and are now residing at 15 Poole Avenue.
Mrs. Olson attended High School of Commerce and was employed by the H. R. Huntting Company, Springfield.
Olson attended schools in Gloversville and is serving in the Navy, stationed at Newport, R. I.
Guests were present from Gloucester, West Hartford and Gloversville.
Saturday night a family party was held in the bridegroom's home for the couple.
