Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Russo entertained twenty-five guests Saturday night at their home, 109 Prospect street, at which time the engagement of their daughter, Esmerelda, was announced to William Fear, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Fear, 101 Pleasant avenue. The wedding will take place in the Fall.
The home was decorated in a color scheme of green and pink. Games and contests were enjoyed and prizes were awarded to Mrs. Charles Ackerbauer and James Russo.

Miss Esmerelda Russo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Russo, 109 Prospect street, and William H. Fear, son of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Fear, 101 Pleasant avenue, were united in marriage Saturday afternoon at 2 at St. Patrick's church.
Rev. James J. Dasey, pastor, performed the ceremony before the main altar which was decorated with gladioli and palms. A large number of relatives and friends of the young couple attended.
Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Carroll S. Walsh, church organist, gave a brief recital. Miss Katherine R. Burda rendered "On This Day, O Beautiful Mother" during therecital and "Ave Maria" at the close of the wedding.
Miss Armerina Russo, sister of the bride, acted as maid of honor, and the Misses Bettye Fear, sister of the bridegroom, Marguerite DeGaro, cousin of the bride, and Millie Caraco were the bridesmaids.
Roland Russo, brother of the bride, was best man and Everett Smullens, Nick DeMagistris and Alfonse Papa acted as ushers.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was gowned in white satin, Princess style. She wore a veil of tulle and carried a bridal bouquet of white roses. The maid of honor was gowned in Royal blue transparent velvet, with accessories to match, and carried a bouquet of flesh colored roses. The bridesmaids wore powder blue transparent velvet, with matching accessories, and carried pink roses.
Mrs. Russo, mother of the bride, was dressed in brown crepe, with accessories to match, and wore a corsage of white roses. Mrs. Fear, the bridegroom's mother, wore dark green crepe and a corsage of yellow roses.
The bride presented the maid of honor with a leather purse, the bridesmaids with vanity cases and Miss Burda, the soloist, with a pair of gloves. The bridegroom's gifts to his attendants were leather billfolds and key cases.
Fifty relatives of the couple were entertained at a dinner served at noon at the home of the bride's parents. A reception was held Saturday night in Moose Hall with about 150 guests in attendance.
Following the reception, newlyweds left on a wedding trip to Boston. Mass. The bride was attired in a bottle green traveling outfit, trimmed with beaver collar and cuffs, and wore a corsage of yellow tea roses.
Upon their return to this city, they will take up their residence in a newly furnished apartment at 129 North Perry street.
Mrs. Fear was graduated from Johnstown High School with the class of 1932. She has been the guest of honor at several pre-nuptial affairs.
Mr. Fear attended Johnstown High School and is at present employed as assistant manager of the Cohen department store, 128 West Main street. Both are well known and popular young residents and have a large number of friends in this city who will join in extending congratulations.

Miss Linda Ann Donodeo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Donodeo of Westbury, Nassau County, became the bride of Donald W. Fear of Port Jefferson, Suffolk County, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Fear of 10 Cherry Street, at a nuptial Mass at 10 Saturday morning at St. Brigid's Catholic Church, Westbury. Rev. Francis A. Bain, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an ivory peau de soie and net A-line gown e trimmed with seed pearls. It was designed with a bodice of English net and Alencon lace, net sleeves trimmed with lace and a detachable chapel train. A headpiece of petals and lace, adorned with seed pearls, held her short, bouffant veil and attached long veil. She carried a nosegay bouquet of roses.
Miss Susan Donodeo of Westbury was maid of honor for her sister. Miss CarolParry of East Meadow, L.I., Miss Christiana Donodeo of Long Island City cousin of the bride, and Mrs. David Rood of Stony Brook, L. I. were attendants.
The bridal attendants wore identical rose petal pink chiffon, long-sleeved gowns with matching headpieces and waistlength veils. They carried bouquets of three long-stemmed roses tied with light pink bows.
David Road of Stony Brook was best man. Ushers were Lynn costello of blue Point, L. I., Christopher Sarlo of Shoreham, L. I. and Lloyd West of Bayville, L. I.
The mother of the bride wore a seafoam green chiffon dress trimmed with silver beading. The mother of the bridegroom wore a paris pink chiffon dress trimmed with lace.
A reception for 135 was held at the Stewart Manor Country Club, Stewart Manor, L I after the ceremony with Herb Meyers and his band providing music. Guests attending were from Gloversville, Johnstown, Rochester, Boston, Mass., Chicago, IlI., and towns in Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, North Dakota and West
Germany.
After a one week trip to Mexico City, Mexico, the couple will reside at 150 North Country Road, Port Jefferson, L. I. For traveling the bride wore a rust knit dress with brown accessories.
Attendants were presented gifts at a rehearsal party at the home of the bride's parents before the wedding. The bride was honored at a previous shower given at Hicksville, L. I. by her cousins and at one in Johnstown given by the bridegroom's mother and relatives.
The bride is a graduate of State University at Oneonta. The bridegroom, a graduate of Gloversville High School, received B. A. and M. A. degrees in social studies at State University at Albany. Both are teaching in schools of the Three Village Central School system at Stony Brook, the bride at the Arrowhead School and the bridegroom in the Murphy Junior High School.

Mrs. Bettye Skakel, 86, formerly of Johnstown died Saturday, December 11, 2004 at Baptist Health Center in Scotia after a long illness.
She was born June 5, 1918 in Johnstown, daughter of George and Anna McGowan Fear. Bettye was a graduate of Johnstown High School. Mrs. Skakel worked as a Telephone Operator and Clerk for 37 years before retiring in 1980 from General Telephone Co. of upstate New York. She was a member of the Shirley Luck Senior Center in Johnstown.
Survivors include her daughter Cheryl Barnard and her husband Jerry of Monticello, daughter Barbara Plantz and her husband John of Scotia, a brother Harry Fear and his wife Ethel of Boca Raton FL, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, her sisters-in-law Hattie Stewart, Essie Fear and Ruth Skakel and several nieces and nephews.
Bettye was predeceased by her husband Ralph Skakel in 2001. They were married in Bennington VT on November 25, 1942.
Funeral services will be held at Barter & Donnan Funeral Home on Tues. Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. with Rev. James Fitzmaurice of Holy Trinity Parish.
F riends and family may call one hour prior to the service.Burial will be held at Ferndale Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Ralph W. Skakel Jr., 93, a native of Johnstown, died Tuesday at Concord Hospital,Concord, N.H.
He was born on Nov. 3, 1907 in Johnstown, the son of Ralph W. and Gertrude Loucks Skakel Sr. Mr. Skakel was a graduate of Johnstown High School.
He was employed for 32 years as a supervisor for General Telephone Co. of Upstate New York in Johnstown. He then worked for 10 years as a plant maintenance supervisor at the former Fulton County Infirmary.
Mr. Skakel was of the Protestant faith. He was a life member and past president of the Pine Tree Rifle Club, Gloversville; a member of area snowmobile clubs and a life member of the New York State Snowmobile Association. He served as a representative for the New York State Snowmobile Council.
Survivors include his wife, the former Bettye Fear, whom he married on Nov. 25, 1942; two daughters, Cheryl Barnard of Claremont, N.H. and Barbara Plantz of Scotia; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one brother, Floyd Skakel; one sister, Ruth Frederick; and one granddaughter, Jessica Barnard.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m.Saturday at Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher St., Johnstown.

Bridesmaids were Miss Rosemary Barnard of Miami, sister of the bridegroom, Miss Patricia Wells of Lake Worth, Fla., and Miss Linda Kuehnel of Johnstown. Melinda Lee Doyle of Boca Raton, Fla., cousin of the bride, was flower girl.
The bridesmaids wore light yellow peau de soie cocktail length gowns with yellow veils attached to bows.
Thomas Barnard of Miami, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Marine Corps Lt. Sheldon Best of Quantico, Va., brother-in-law of the bridegroom, Matthew Murphy of Miami and Nicholas Silverio of New York City.
The bride's mother wore a blue and white silk jersey, white hat and a cream-color orchid corsage. The bridegroom's mother was attired in a yellow suit, yellow accessories and a cream-color orchid corsage.
After the ceremony a reception for 150 persons was held at Pine Tree Rifle Club Music was played by the Novas Combo of Johnstown and Gloversville.
The bride was graduated in 1961 from Johnstown High School and is a candidate for graduation in September from Jackson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Miami.
The bridegroom was graduated in 1961 from Archbishop Curley Academy in Miami.
For a wedding trip to New York City and Washington, D.C. The bride chose a blue and white linen suit, white hat and orchid corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Barnard will make their home in Coconut Grove, Fla.
Guests attended the wedding from Binghamton, New York City, Newburgh, Quantico. and from Miami, Orlando, Boca Raton, Fla.
Gifts were presented to the attendants after rehearsal Friday night at the home of the bride's parents.

Marriage vows were, exchanged July 12 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Johnstown by Miss Barbara Jean Skakel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Skakel of Johnstown, and John W. Plantz, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Plantz of Sammonsville. The Rev. John L.Mosconi solemnized the ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown, of organza over taffeta with a high rise neckline, fitted bodice adorned with venise lace, and long puffed sleeves with lace cuffs. The skirt terminated in a cathedral length train, and she carried an L-shaped cascade of roses and daisies.
Mrs. Eileen Walsh was matron of honor in a maize colored gown of dotted Swiss over taffeta. The fitted bodice featured a portrait neckline and brief sleeves; a soft A-line skirt was accented at the back by a panel formed by a double ruffle. A floor length veil fell from a matching dior bow, and she carried a basket of sweetheart roses and daisies.
Bridesmaids included Mrs. Cheryl Barnard, sister of the bride; Miss Judy Howenstein, Miss Bonnie MacNaughton and Miss Barbara Plantz, sister of the bridegroom. Laurie Skakel, The bride's cousin was flower girl. They were attired similarly to the matron of honor in romance blue and carried basket arrangements identical to Mrs. Walsh's.
John Carpenter served as best man, and seating the guests were. Gerald Barnard, Harry Hing, John Ferjanec and Richard Mussey, cousin of the bridegrom.
A reception was held at the Pine, Tree Rifle Club in Johnstown. Following a tour of the New England States, the newlyweds will return to 165D Glenview Apartments, Glenridge Road, Scotia, where they will
make their home.
The bride is a graduate of Johnstown High School and State University College at Potsdam where she was a member of Phi Kappa Pi Sorority. Formerly a teacher in the Corinth Central School System she will begin as an elementary teacher at Pashley School, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake School System, in the fall. Also a graduate of Johnstown High School, her husband is studying in the Apprentice Training School at the General Electric Co.

MAYFIELD - Glenn Buyce, 72, of Gloversville RD 2, died at 12:45 this morning at Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, where he was a patient three weeks. He was in ill health the past year. He was born in August 1901, at Wells, the son of James and Lillus Morrison Buyce. He attended Wells area schools. He had resided in the Mayfield area 40 years.
Mr. Buyce had been a lumberman by occupation for many years. In his later years he was a maintenance man at Littauer Hospital, retiring three years ago. He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mildred Santus; one son, Harry Buyce of Mayfield; one brother, Roland Buyce of Gloversville; four sisters, Mrs. Ruth Gallup, Mrs. Lydia Sweet, Mrs. Marie Murray and Mrs. Dorothy Lawton, all of Gloversville; two grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a short sleeve gown of white silk organza over taffeta, fashioned with a Venice lace bodice and scalloped neckline. Her bouffant skirt had appliqued Venice lace and a Dior bow in back, with a detachable chapel train. Her bouffant elbow length English illusion veil was attached to a crown of crystals and pearls. She carried a cascade of white pompons with white orchids.
Miss Nancy Mace, Crown Point, was maid of honor. She wore a light aqua blue, silk cocktail sheath with a bell effect overskirt, scoop neck-line and back bow. Her matched headpiece was a small band fashioned with miniature flowerlet bows and attached veil. She carried a cascade of pink pompons centered with carnations and roses. The bridal attendants were Miss Sharon Lorey, Mayfield, Mrs. Charles Dunham, Northville, and Mrs. Melvin Parker, Mayfield. They were attired identically to the maid of honor and carried a bouquet of orchid pink pompons, roses and carnations.
Miss Kimberly Hart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Hart, Mayfield was the flower girl. She wore a long hooped gown of silk organza and lace over taffeta fashioned with a lace bodice, and scalloped square neckline. She wore a crown of pearls and sequins and carried a white basket of mixed pink and white flowers.
Gerald Brower Mayfield was best man. Ushers were Robert Boduch, Mayfield, Charles Dunham, Northville, and Melvin Parker, Mayfield.
The bride's mother chose a dress fashioned of taupe brocade and eyelet over silk. She wore pale pink accessories and a corsaee of evmbidium orchids.
The bridegroom's mother chose a forest green nylon dress and wore bone accessories. She wore a corsage of evmbidium orchids.
A reception for 300 guests was held from 3 until 7 at the Croatian Park.
The bride is a graduate of Mayfield School and a 1964 graduate of Potsdam State
Teachers College. She wil begin teaching at the Mayfield elementary school next month She was senior counselor for the primary group at the Jewish Community Center Day Camp for the past two summers.
The bridegroom was gradated from Mayfield Central School and is a member of the Gloversville Police Department.
The bride's going-away outfit was a cranberrv cotton shantung sheath with matched accessories and a white orchid.
After a trip to New Brunswick, Canada, the couple will reside in Gloversville.

Her finger tip veil of illusion was attached to a tullie leaf crown, trimmed with orange blossoms.
She wore a white gold hand-engraved cross, a gift from the bridegroom, and carried a lace-covered bible, marked with a white orchid and stephanotis.
Miss Linda Davidson, the bride's sister, was maid of honor. She was attired in a ballerina-length gown of sapphire blue tissue taffeta with a fold bodice, sweetheart neckline, cap sleeves and full skirt. Her head piece of feathered roses were
formed into a halo effect and she carried a spray of white quilled mums and magnolia leaves.
Bridesmaids were Miss Shirley Frederick, the bridegroom's sister, and Mrss Joan Davidson, a second sister of the bride. They were similary attired as the maid of honor.
Robert Russell of Mars. Pa., a fraternity brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Donald Prytherch of Syracuse, also a fraternity brother, and David Good of Greensburg served as ushers.
The mother of the bride wore a mauve satin sheath dress and wore a corsage of white roses. The bridegroom's mother wore a blue and white sheer print dress, with black accessories and a corsage of white roses.
Organist was Floyd Park and vocalist was James Rudolph of Hickory, Pa,, a college friend of the young couple.
Following the ceremony, a reception for the newlyweds was at the nearby Mountain View Hotel.
For her going awa y outfit the bride selected a blue and green plaid wool suit, blue mohair beret and black accessories, with a corsage of white orchids.
After a wedding trip to the nation's capital and Virginia, the couple will reside in Waynesburg, Pa., where the bridegroom is completing his pre-ministerial studies at Waynesburg College. The bride graduated from the same college in 1957.

Ivan Lee Wemple, 63, Riceville, Town of Mayfield, a member of the Mayfield Central School Board of Education, died Sunday afternoon at his home after an illness of two months.
He was born in the Town of Mayfield Dec. 23, 1895, and had lived there all his life. He had been manager of a feed store in Fultonville prior to his illness and previously conducted a grocery store in Riceville
Mr. Wemple was a member of the Mayfield Methodist Church, Mayfield Grange, Mayfield Bowling league and Lone Star Lodge No. 39, IOOF, Gloversville, and a
district deputy of the lodge.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Florence Wemple, Riceville; four daughters, Mrs. George Barker, Jr., and Mrs. John Ellithorpe, Mayfield, Mrs. Woodrow Boyle, Miami. Fla., and Mrs. Richard Wadsworth, Dolgeville, and one son, Richard Wemple, a meffiber of the Canajoharie High school faculty.
Funeral services were held at the Mayfield Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The Rev. Kenneth A. Waite, pastor of the church officiated. Burial was made in Mayfield Cemetery.

Marriage Notes for June Wemple and Richard Duane Wadsworth

MAYFIELD A pretty wedding took place Wednesday night at 8 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Wemple of Riceville, when their daughter, June, was united in marriage to Corporal Richard Duane Wadsworth, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Wadsworth of 17 Franklin street, Gloversville.
The ceremony was performed before an altar of seasonable flowers in a color scheme of red, white and blue by the Rev. Fred L. Decker, D.D., of the Methodist church.
During the ceremony, Miss Beaitrice Thompson sang "Because" and "I Love You Truly." Miss Irene Asquith played the traditional wedding music.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white with satin bodice and full net skirt. Her illusion veil hung from a coronet of orange blossoms to her shoulders and she carried bride's roses and gypsophila. The maid of honor, Miss Dorothy Graham of Fultonville wore a gown of peach faille and juliette cap of and carried a colonial bouquet.
The bridesmaids were Mrs. Mildred Eliithorpe and Miss Pauline Eschler. The former wore lavender net and the latter yellow net with juliette caps of lace. They each carried a colonial boquet.
The bridegroom was attended by Guy Wadsworth, his brother, and George Barker, Jr.
The bride's mother wore a dress of yellow crepe and the bridegroom's mother aqua. Their flowers were corsage of red roses.
Following the ceremony a reception was held and the couple presnted personal gifts to their attendants.
Later Corporal and Mrs. Wadsworth left to spend their honeymoon at the northern lakes. The bridegroom who has been in the service three years, is with the air force, and returned to this country in January, after serving 15 months overseas. At the end of his furlough, he will return to Texas, where he is stationed, and his bride will make her home with her parents.
Mrs. Wadsworth is a graduate of Gloversville High School, class of 1941, and is emplyed at the Fulton Co. Silk Mills in Gloversville.
Cpl. Wadsworth is a graduate of Gloversville High School, class of '41, and before going into service was employed by the General Motors at Buffalo.
Out-of-town guests were from Johnstown, Fort Plain, Schenectady, Northville, Fultonville and Gloversville.

Mrs. Mary F. Robinson, 84, of Barber Street, Fonda, NY died peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2012 at the River Ridge Living Center following a brief illness. Born in Detroit, Michigan she was the daughter of the late William and Cora Jackson Sherman.
As a young child, Mary moved to the area with her family. She was a graduate of Fonda High School and attended Cosmetology School. She was co- owner of the Wagon Wheel in Fonda.
On April 25, 1967, Mary began working for the Fulmont Development Facility. As a public servant, she was the bookkeeper for the facility as well as an employee of the Manpower Training Program and the CETA Program. Upon the death of her husband, Robert J. Robinson, who was the Executive Director, Mary was appointed as Deputy Director of the Fulmont Development Facility until her retirement in January of 1988. It was because of her dedication and commitment; many people in Fulton and Montgomery counties are now living a better life.
Mary was also a member of the Inter- Agency Council in Montomery County, the Mohawk Economic Development Corporation, the Dispute Resolution Team for Mid- Mohawk Legal Services and served as Clerk of the Fonda- Fultonville Board of Education.
She also enjoyed traveling and special friendships with the Tribes Hill, Iroquois and Glen Mohawk Seniors; and a faithful member of the Canajoharie Reformed Church. Above all, she loved her family dearly, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Mary was predeceased by her husbands, Joseph J. Ault and Robert J. Robinson; her brother, George Sherman; and a step daughter, Florence Robinson- Davis.
Survivors include her children, Raymond (Carol) Ault, Robert (Darlene) Ault, James (Cathy McCrea) Ault and Mary Jo Rave (David Kruger); step children, Calvin (Debbie) Robinson, Robert J. Robinson, Harry D. Robinson, James (Amanda Ossenfort) Robinson, Darlene (Charles Kinney) Vogt, Arlee (John) Perry; 25 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Graveside Service of Remembrance will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda, NY.

Mr. Joseph J. Ault of Fonda died April 19, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Ault was the son of the late Rosario T. and Madaline Damiano Ault, Sr. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of Fonda-Fultonville High School. Early in life, Mr. Ault was an owner and operator of a service station in Fonda until 1960. He then operated the Wagon Wheel, a newsstand and ice cream business. Most recently he had been a counselor at Tryon School for 22 years, retiring in 1987.
A Navy veteran of WW Two, Mr. Ault was a member of the American Legion # 554 of Ft. Plain. The VFW # 962 in Fonda, a former member of the Johnstown Moose Lodge and a member of the Snell Hose Co. # 2 in the Fonda Fire Department. Joe served as Youth Commissioner in Fonda for 15 years and was also a school bus driver for 20 years.
He is survived by his children; Mary Jo Rave of Fonda, Joseph R. Ault of Fonda, James P. Ault of Fultonville and Robert A. Ault of Broadalbin. He is also survived by a sister; Mary Bellows of Gloversville, two brothers; Carmin Ault of Gloversville and Rosario T. "Junie" Ault Jr. of Fonda. Six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren survive as well as nieces and nephews. Mr. Ault was pre-deceased by his sisters; Julia Viauso, Florence Cervo Campbell and Marguerite Marotta and brothers; Andrew, Samuel and Anthony Ault.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
