CANAJOHARIE, Sept. 30. — Lieut Raymond Foster Shults, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Shults of Palatine Bridge, has been promoted to the rank of captain at the Charleston Army Air Base. Charleston, S. C, where be is stationed with the air service command. Capt Shults is a graduate of the Canajoharie High School and of Clarkson School of Technology, Potsdam, class of June, 1940, where he was a member of the R. O. T. C, and received his degree In mechanical engineering. After graduation, he continued military training at Fort Belvoir, Va., and received a commission in the U. S. Army.
For several months he was an employe of the Curtis Wright Airplane Corporation in Buffalo. He enlisted in the Air Corps in December, 1940, was sent for training to the Mississippi Aeronautical Institute, Jackson, Miss., and then to Chanute Field, Rantoul, Ill. where he was graduated and commissioned a second lieutenant in the Air Corps in December. 1941. He was stationed at Shaw Field, Sumter, S. C, and later had two months' advanced aeronautical training at the Army and Navy School, Hartford, Conn. He received his commission as first lieutenant Dec 24, 1942.
Capt. Shults was married in Fort Plain July 25. 1942, to Miss Marian Carnrite, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James Carnrite of that village. Mrs. Shults is living in Charleston, S. C.

Miss Carnrite was graduated from the Fort Plain High school and attended Chevy Chase college in Washington for two years. She was graduated from Ithaca college and has been a member of the faculty of the Milbrooke High school, Milbrooke, N.Y., for two years. Mr. Shults was graduated from the Canajoharle High school and from Clarkson School of Technology, Potsdam, where he enrolled in the R.O.T.C. for four years, completing the officers' training course at Fort Belvolr, Va. FORT PLAIN - Miss Susan S. Shults, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Shults of 3 Edwards Street, was united in marriage to David M. Cummings of Albany, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Cummings of 35 Newman Street, Gloversville, at a ceremony at 4 Saturday afternoon July 10, in the church at the Farmer's Museum, Cooperstown.
Rev. Robert A. Hess, minister of Dutch Reformed Church, Fort Plain, performed the double ring ceremony.
Samuel Wilcox of Cooperstown, organist, played, "Offertoire," "Sur Les Grands Jeux" and "Festival Postlude."
Mrs. Nancy Shults of Berlin, Germany, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor and also sang "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face."
Miss Hallie J. Flickinger of Eggertsville, Erie County, was bridesmaid.
William J. Gormley of East Greenbush, Rensselaer County, was best man. Ushers were Mark C. Shults of Berlin, brother of the bride, and John W. Finocan III of Stamford, Delaware County.
A reception for 150 was held at the Otesaga Hotel, Cooperstown, after the ceremony with Rex Pryor's combo providing music. Guests attending were from Fort Plain, Canajoharie, Gloversville, Johnstown, Caroga Lake, Ballston Spa, Ballston Lake, Menands, Cooperstown, Eggertsville, St. Johnsville, Ephratah, Stone Arabia, Fly Creek, Springfield Center, Milford, Benson, Fultonville, Palatine Bridge, Kingston, Schenectady, Albany, Troy, Rensselaer, Liverpool, Pulaski, Rochester, East Greenbush, Stamford, New York City, Washington, D. Attendants were presented gifts at a rehearsal party Friday night at the Lake House, Schuyler Lake, Otsego County. The bride was honored at bridal showers before the wedding.
Members of the bridal party were guests at a brunch Saturday morning at the Poplar's Restaurant, Fultonville, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Marius Rressoud, uncle and aunt of the bride.
The bride received a master's degree in social work in April from the University of Pittsburgh.
The bridegroom received a master's degree in psychiatric social work in 1974 from State University at Albany. He is a mental retardation specialist employed by the State Department of Mental Hygiene, Albany.
The couple is residing at 34 Magnolia Terrace, Albany.

ST. JOHNSVILLE - James D. Belljnger, 76, of St. Johnsville RD 2, (St. Johnsville Crum Creek Rd.) died Sunday morning in Little Falls Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Bellinger was born in St. Johnsville Jan. 11, 1898, a son of Seymour and Antha Franklin Bellinger. He was graduated from St. Johnsville High School in the Class of 1918.
He owned and operated a dairy farm for the greater part of his life and from 1942 to 1952 was a member of the board of education of St. Johnsville Central School.
A member of St. John's Reformed Church, Mr. Bellinger was married to Mae Johnson on June 15, 1927, in Fort Plain.
Surviving, besides his widow, are two sons, Ogden Bellinger and Richard Bellinger, both of St. Johnsville RD 2; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Lull Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ross Westhuis, pastor of St. John's Reformed Church, and the Rev. Richard Clark, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be later in St. Johnsville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lull Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Johnsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
