  ZAHRT, MERTON S.90, of Palm Harbor, died Saturday (Jan. 27, 2001) at Harborside Healthcare of Tampa Bay, Oldsmar. He was born in Ellington Township, Wis., and came here in 1980 from Farmville, Va. He retired as professor and addistant dean ot the University of Illionois, Chicago, and was listed in Who's Who in America. He was a member of St. Alfred;s Episcopal Church, Palm Harbor. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Hilda E.; three daughters, Nancy J. Maxwell, Clearwater, Sally O'Leary, Smithtown, N.Y., and Barbara Zahrt, New Haven, Conn.; and a brother, Stanley, Palm Harbor. Curlew Hills Funeral Home, Palm Harbor.

  Botting is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and a 1982 graduate of Bently College at Waltham, Mass., with a bachelor's degree in accountancy. He is an accountaint at Data General in Westboro, Mass.

  Mrs. Dorothea F. Maxon, age 94, formerly of Gloversville, died Thursday evening, August 28, 2008 at Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown, where she had resided the past two years.
  She was born on February 14, 1914 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Truman and Grace Van Dellan Hart. Dorothea was employed as a seamstress at the former Hilts & Willard Glove Company in Gloversville for more than 48 years.
  Mrs. Maxon was a member of the Gloversville Moose Auxiliary and the Ida McGinnis Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed gardening and making clothing following her retirement.
  She was married on May 1, 1936 to Arthur F. Maxon who died May 20, 2000. Survivors include three children, Barbara G. Travis and William H. Maxon (Carolyn) of Gloversville and Sandra Niver (David) of Buffalo; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Wilson.
  The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.

home. Mr. and Mrs. Van Dellon will reside in Sidney following a wedding trip.
  Mrs. Van Dellon was graduated from New Berlin High School, while Mr. Van Dellon is a graduate of Gloversville High School. They are both employed at the Scintilla Magneto Works in Sidney.

  Miss Linda Lee Van Dellon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burton Van Dellon of 124 Sixth Avenue, was united in marriage to Steven D. Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Johnson of Geneseo, Livingston County, at a ceremony at 2 Saturday afternoon at North Main Street United Methodist Church.
  Altar arrangements of white gladioli and blue carnations, candelabra and bow pew markers provided the decorations for the double ring ceremony performed by Rev. William S. Rowe, pastor of the church.
  Bernie Kolacki of Broadalbin, organist, played the love theme from "Romeo and Juliet," "For All We Know," "We've Only Just Begun," and "Love Story."
  The bride, given in marriage by her fattier, wore a gown of white silk organza over taffeta featuring venise lace interwoven with petal blue satin ribbon forming the high circle neckline and matching lace and ribbon adorning the sleeves caught at the wrists with the same trim to form gathered lace-edged cuffs. A bee-trimmed fitted Empire bodice, adorned with a front bow, and a lace-edged and appliqued softly controlled skirt were separated with a line of lace at the waistline. A detachable cathedral-length train, edged with lace, completed the styling.
  The bride's bouffant veil of illusion was held by a Camelot headpiece of lace and organza trimmed with matching lace and blue ribbon. Her bouquet was a cascade arrangement of white miniature carnations and ivy bordering a white orchid.
   Mrs. Robert Burke of Blasdell, Erie County, sister of the bride, was her matron of honor. Miss Lynn Johnson of Geneseo, sister of the bridegroom, Miss Barbara Moore of Schenectady and Miss Margaret Mucia of Auburn, Cayuga County, were bridesmaids. Susan Maloney of Schenectady, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.
  The matron of honor, bridesmaids and flower girl wore like gowns of petal blue georgette over taffeta fashioned with multi-colored neckbands, long, puffed sleeves with ruffled cuffs trimmed with matching colored banding and the same trim on the semi-Empire bodice. They wore matching blue picture hats trimmed with the satin bands, bows and streamers. Their bouquets were arrangements of white and blue daisies with blue streamers.
  Scott Johnson of Geneseo was best man for his brother. Ushers were Theodore Saunders of Geneseo, Mark Van Dellon, brother of the bride, and Stephen Hughes, both of Gloversville. Daniel Johnson of Geneseo, another brother of the bridegroom, was junior usher.
  For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Van Dellon wore a romance blue double knit dress with a bead and crystal embroidered ring collar under a matching coat with bracelet-length sleeves, She wore matching accessories and a corsage of white cymbidium orchids.
  The mother of the bridegroom wore a Navy blue double knit dress, many accessories with a corsage of red roses.
   After the ceremony a reception for 130 was held at the Circle Inn, Mayfield RD with Tony Brook's trio providing music. Guests attending were from Gloversville, Johnstown Geneseo, Schenectady, New Berlin, Ossining, Oneonta, Cazenovia, Cortland, Blasdell, Syracuse, Rockvill Center, Owego, New Jersey and California.
  After a trip to Cape Cod, the couple will reside in the Apartments, 99 Tompkins Street, Cortland, Cortland County. For traveling the bride chose a Navy blue and white dotted Swiss dress ensemble, white accessories and a white orchid corsage.
  The parents of the bridegroom entertained the bridal party at a rehearsal dinner Friday night at the Holiday Inn when gifts were presented to the attendants.
  The bride was honored at a July shower at Union Hall Johnstown, given by her attendants and Mrs. John Maloney, Mrs. Stanley Lescarboura, Mrs, Ralph Bassett and Mrs. Robert Van Dellon.
  The bride is a 1968 graduate of Gloversville High School and a May graduate of State University at Cortland. The bridegroom is a 1969 graduate of Geneseo Hjgh School and is a senior at State University at Cortland.

  Mrs. Ruth VanDellon Maloney, 73, of Gloversville, died today at home after a long illness.
  She was born on Sept. 4, 1925 in Gloversville, the daughter of Robert L. and Sara E. Martin VanDellon. Mrs. Maloney was a 1943 graduate of Gloversville High School; a 1947 graduate of SUNY at Oneonta, where she received a degree in elementary education. She resided in Gloversville most of her life. She was an elementary school teacher in Cobleskill schools and in the continuing education department with Gloversville School System. She later became a substitute teacher in the Fulton County area and last in Guilderland, where she and her family resided for several years.
  Mrs. Maloney was a member of North Main Street United Methodist Church, Gloversville, the Hit and Miss Bowling League, New York State Teachers Association and Fulton County Retired Teachers Association. On Feb. 19, 1949 she married Raymond "John" Maloney, who died Feb. 12, 1997.
  Survivors include one son, Timothy J. Maloney of Rochester; one daughter, Susan J. Doak of Gloversville; one brother, Burton E. VanDellon of Gloversville, one sister, Marion Lescarboura of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
  There will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at North Main Street United Methodist Church, Gloversville at the convenience of the family. Cremation will take place at Parkview Crematory, Schenectady. Final burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
  Arrangements are by Walrath and Bushour Inc., Gloversville.


Raymond John Maloney

  R. John Maloney, 72, of Gloversville died Wednesday at home after a long illness.
  He was born on Dec. 26, 1924 in Gloversville, the son of Raymond Stephen and Gertrude L Schrum Maloney. Mr. Maloney was a 1942 graduate of Gloversville High School and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He lived in Guilderland for 15 years before returning to Gloversville in 1983.
  He served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
  He was employed for 13 years as a partner in Maloney and Chetwynd Plumbing and Heating, Gloversville. He worked for 25 years at the New York State Department of Labor, Bureau of Public Works as central office supervisor and upstate supervising investigator.
  Mr. Maloney was a member of North Main Street United Methodist Church and Fulton County Historical Society, both of Gloversville. He was a 45-year member of Gloversville Masonic Lodge 429 and vice president of the former New York State Parents of Hearing Impaired Children. At the time of his death he was president of the board of directors of Fern Dale Cemetery Association, Johnstown, and a member of the board of trustees of the Fulton County Historical Society.
  Survivors include his wife, the former Ruth M. Van Dellon, whom he married on Feb. 19, 1949; one son, Timothy Maloney of Rochester; one daughter, Susan Doak, Gloversville; three grandchildren and several cousins.

  Miss Ruth Martin Van Dellon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Van Dellon of Gloversville and a former teacher in the Lark Street School, Cobleskill because the bride of Raymond John Maloney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond S. Maloney of Gloversville on Saturday afternoon. Feb. 19 at two o’clock. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Lawrence Larowe assisted by Rev. Clarence Schaertel at the North Main St. Methodist Church, which was decorated with palms, white roses, snapdragons and candelabra. The music was the traditional wedding marches and several solos, “Because,” “Through the Years,” “I Love You Truly" and “Lord’s Prayer.”
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a wedding gown of slipper satin and lace, fashioned with a sweetheart neckline. She wore a Juliette cap and finger tip veil and carried an arm bouquet of white roses.
   The matron of honor, Mrs. Stanley Lescarboura, sister of the bride, wore a light blue taffeta gown with fitted bodice and full skirt. Her arm bouquet was of red roses. The bridesmaids, Mrs. Burton E. Van Dellon and Mrs. Charles J. Nelson, wore pink taffeta gowns, patterned after the matron of honor’s. They carried colonial bouquets of mixed flowers. The flower girl was Sandra Lescarboura, niece of the bride, who wore a gown identical to the matron of honor and carried a small colonial bouquet
  The best man was Thomas Klohck and the ushers were Burton E. Van Dellon, brother of the bride and John Managun.
  The bride’s mother wore an afternoon dress of black crepe with white accessories and a corsage of red camellias. The bridegroom’s mother wore a raisen colored afternoon dress with white accessories and a corsage of white gardenias.
  Following the ceremony a reception for eighty-five guests was held in the North Main St. Methodist Church Parlors, which were decorated with pink and white carnations. The bride chose for traveling, a wine suit with black accessories and an orchid corsage.
  Mrs. Maloney is a graduate of Gloversville High School, 1943 and the Oneonta State Teachers’ College, 1947. Mr. Maloney was also graduated from Gloversville High School, attended RPI at Troy and Syracuse University. He served in the U. S. Navy for three years. He is a member of the plumbing and heating firm of Maloney and Chetwynd.
  Mr. and Mrs. Maloney will reside at 69 Washington St., Gloversville.

  Mr. Benedict is survived by his wife, Marie; a daughter, Mrs. Deborah Dealey of Whitier, Calif.; two sons, Howard of Fairfield, conn., and Bleakney of Arlington, Mass.; and seven grandchildren.
  Athelstane Lodge No. 839 F. nd A. M., will conduct Masonic services at the Sniffen Funeral Home, Spring Valley, Thuyrsday at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Reformed Church, West New Hempstead, Fridya at 2 p.m., the Rev.   She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ada Smith; a son, Ernest George Benedict; six grandchgildren and six great-grandchildren.
  She was a member of the Disable American Veterans Post 43.

  Dorothy E. Weed, 83, died Monday, October 2, 2017, at Wilton Meadows Health Care Center.
  Born in Norwalk, August 14, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Richard Elmer and Ruth Mansfield Weed. A life-long Norwalk resident Miss Weed was with the Norwalk Hour Publishing Company for many years; retiring in 1996 as treasurer of the company.
  Dorothy was an avid bowler and reader. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a sister, Beverly Weed, of Wilton, several nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
  In addition to her parents, Miss Weed is predeceased by a brother, Richard Earl Weed, and sisters, Ruth Davies, Shirley McQuaid and Marjorie Thane.
  Services will take place Friday, October 6th, at 10:30 A.m. in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 208 Newtown Avenue. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, 5 Main Street, New Canaan. Friends may call Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue.

  Lynn S. Fishef, 45, died suddenly Friday evening at his home on Owasco Lake, Fleming. Mr. Fisher, who had worked throughout the day, appeared in good health but Friday evening he was taken sick with a chill. Death came within a short time. Dr. S. Edwin Day of this city responded to a call for medical aid, but Mr. Fisher was beyond help. Dr. R. C. Almy, Cayuga County coroner, Investigated and found that death was due to a heart condition.
  Mr. Fisher was born in Bellona, N, Y. For the past four years, he had resided in Fleming. He was a member of the Carpenters Union.
  Mr. Fisher is survived by his wife, Mrs. Catherine Bucknam Fisher, one son, George F. Fisher of Syracuse; one brother, Clarence Fisher of Geneva; and one sister, Mrs. John E. Tomey of Penn Yan.
  Services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Funeral Rooms of Lester E. Brew, 47 Clark Street. Rev. Donald H. Mackenzie, assistant pastor of Second Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Fleming. Friends have been invited to call at 47 Clark Street.
