Newspaper Article (Richfield Springs Mercury, NY, Thursday, November 25, 1954)
For the second time in her hunting career, Mrs. Dwight Brewer, Jr. of 9 Division street, this village, stalked her game alone and brought home a trophy of the hunt. An expert marksman, Mrs. Brewer doesn't mind entering the woods alone and has proven her skill as a marksman.
Last Thursday, Nov. 18, Mrs. Brewer had a few hours to spare, so she took her shootin' iron and went a'hunting. After a non-profitable morning in the woods and about ready to call It quits, she sighted a buck, aimed, fired and missed. A second shot brought the animal down. Unable to handle it alone, Mrs. Brewer marked the spot in the woods which was in the Barstow Corners area, and went for help. A call to her father, Merton Skinner, Sr., brought help and the 150 pound, six point beauty was loaded on a car and brought home.
Mrs. Brewer got her first deer in 1950 when she hunted up north with a party in the Adirondacks. Mr. Brewer and the four Brewer children are quite proud of their sharp-shooting wife and mother.
