As he did so, the northbound tanker, owned by the Turco Milk Transportation Co. of Highland Mills and driven by Mark A. O'Brien, same address, approached the two cars. O'Brien was uninjured.
O'Brien told the troopers he swung his truck to the right, onto the east sholdetr of the highway and that the oncoming Vedder car also swung off onto that sholder. Still seeking to avoid the collision, O'Brien said , he swung back onto the eastern lane of the highway and at the same time the Vedder car swung back into the same lane to crash directly into the front of the truck.
Vedder was thrown from the sedan he was driving and a wheel of the truck passed over him.
The youth who held a junior operator's licence, was driving a car owned by his mother.
